Willow Rosenberg x fem reader
I Answered That Already
It's a regular night for you at the Bronze. You're sitting down at a table with your friends that you've had since high school. Buffy, Xander, and Willow.
You've had a crush on Willow since you can remember. But she's had a thing for Xander and then got with Wolfie Oz. You can't tell if she's into you or not, but you sure do make her flustered a lot.
The music plays and you watch people dancing. Buffy elbows you softly to catch your attention. You turn to her, confused.
"Day dreaming again?" She smiles.
"Yeah. I seem to do that often." You smile back. You turn your head to see Willow and Xander are gone.
"They went to grab drinks." She smirks. "Still got the hots for Willow?"
"Shut up." You roll your eyes.
"Come on. You're hot! Just hit on her. Well, she hasn't caught on. Just tell her!" Buffy takes a sip from her straw.
"Mehhhh. I'm not drunk enough for that." You never really get drunk enough to spill the beans. You've kept it that way on purpose. You don't shut up when you're drunk.
"Willow is a witch. If she wanted to find out, she would." Buffy says. "You haven't made it clear enough." She winks.
Before you can reply, Willow and Xander sit back down.
"Alright." Xander sighs and places a drink in front of you. "Your second one." He laughs.
"Woooww, slow down!" Willow jokes at the fact that they're ahead of you.
But that's how it always goes. "Ha ha. Very funny." You smile.
A slow song starts to play. Buffy looks at you with a serious face and then tilts toward Willow.
"Willow, wanna dance with y/n?" Xander smiles at you innocently.
"Uh.. I uh.. y-yes. Sure. Y-yes." Willow turns a deep red.
You gulp and stand up, holding your hand out for her. "Want to dance with me?" You ask.
"I answered that already." She furrows her eyebrows and then smiles, taking your hand.
---
"Light as a feather, stiff as a board isn't even real." She laughs, staring at the witch book in front of her.
You cross your legs on her bed, sitting across from her. "Well, you make me stiff as a board." You joke about a penis that you don't have.
She looks up at you from the book and raises an eyebrow. "If that's what you have, then I change my mind.'' She starts to laugh.
"You haven't even kissed me yet. How could you change your mind about nothing?" You cross your arms.
She freezes up and blushes.
"Awe.. is someone shy?" You pull the book from her.
She nods her head with her doe eyes.
You grab her chin and press your lips on hers. An instant spark that has been inside of you since school ignited in you. Her lips are so soft. The kiss feels so natural. You pull away from her and her face is just in shock.
"I think I'm lesbian." She whispers.

I Want You
Tumblr media
pairing(s): willow x tara
summary: willow finally gets to visit tara's grave after being in England for the past few months
warnings: angst with a slight happy ending, mentions of tara's death, blood, and suicidal tendencies/thoughts, derealization, willows dark era is a metaphor for substance abuse so that may be triggering for some folks, its just really sad
an: i don't usually do ship fics, i just so happened to be in a mood. its also pride month and there is like 0 tillow content on this app *i still wouldn't recommend requesting ship fics tho*
Back in England, there was a tree. A willow tree. Unlike Xander, who was very quick to let everyone know never to call him anything other than Xander, she never had an issue with her name. It fit her. She was spindly and growing up she had knobby knees that caused her to move a bit awkwardly. Her hair blew around her face, and, just like the rest of her body, looked like if the wind were to pick up, she would be blown away. A dandelion seed in the wind that would maybe make someone's day brighter at the hope of a wish, instead of a willow tree that may actually prove useful.
She wanted to believe that she was like a willow tree, that she was stronger than she looked. That she had dug her clumsy feet into the ground and planted her roots and she would stay, unmovable and tall, until some monumental hurricane or imposing tornado came through and uprooted her. Even in that case, her seeds would be sewn into all the land she touched, and she would live forever, replanted and replenished by those who knew her, and fed her, and grew with her, and loved her. She wanted to believe that she could plant roots, that she had control over where she stayed and who she was with and if she liked her situation enough, she wouldn't to leave. Permanence. Consistency. Control. That's what she wanted.
As a kid, she wrote her name in lowercase letters; it wasn't til high school her willows became Willow. In that ranch farm in middle of fucking nowhere England, she became willow once again. She thought she was sent there to be put down. Like a rabid dog that was too pitiful to die on its own but too dangerous for its survival to be left to chance.
It was such an odd feeling; that derealization. Stepping back and watching people talk to you, touch you, extend their sympathies. Hearing yourself talk and sounding like how adults do in Charlie Brown. Feeling your mouth flap but not choosing what comes out. Just knowing that you had a body, and that you had a mind, but you knew it because someone told you that you did. That's how it felt when she thought she was going to die. Her soul had already began to check out and distance itself from the body that was going to run cold within the next couple days. She didn't even try and protest, she was that eager to let go. Even worse than simply killing a man, she didn't do it for Tara. Killing Warren didn't feel like catharsis, it felt like pleasure.
Nothing was relieved. She didn't feel lighter. She didn't feel better. An anvil sat on her chest, squeezing every ounce of life from her until she was acting on instinct and impulse. Killing Warren was a dopamine shot straight to her brain, it didn't remove the anvil or ease the ache, and she didn't do it for that purpose. She did it to do it. She went on auto pilot after the fact, watching her life pass by her and watch her kill her friends while wanting to stop but she couldn't. It felt too good in the moment. It felt like fire. She was on fire.
It was all consuming, the smoke she left behind accumulating and growing with everything she did until she didn't know where she ended or when the smoke began. It hurt what she was doing, being a woman on fire you felt the flames but were also spurred on by hysteria. She had been so cold before, and the fire was a bit much, but that's where the pleasure was derived. The cold depravity was killing her, at least in the flames she would go out in a blaze. Yet, dying then and dying in that ranch felt so different.
She felt like she deserved it both times. Willow knew that she had been losing control of her magics. Floating on ceilings and hallucinating, seeking out someone on Amy's recommendation for fucks sake, these weren't things she would normally do. She had lost control of herself a while ago, but when she went dark, it was the first time she lost sight of the reins. She deserved to die during her rampage because she was going to gut the world, turn it inside out until the oceans tipped into the sea and every piece of earth was reduced to ash, and she couldn't stop herself. Her death would've been damage control.
The second time she felt it would've been redemption. That she had gone too far and there was no saving her. Her punishment came in her separation alone.
She wasn't there when Tara was buried.
She was told when they thought it was safe enough that she was buried on a hill. They told her the gravestone was decorated in reeds, flowers, and crystals and they cleaned the white marble stone every time they came to visit her. That they took care of it, and they told her this, but they meant to say they took care of it for her. It felt heavy weighing in on the back of their tongues, that they couldn't care for her like Willow could but since she was away, maybe even dead, they would have to be enough. They were all Tara had.
She didn't know how to dress. Buffy told her to go as she is, that if anything is the same from when she was dead that she can't see her anyways. She wanted to ask if Buffy could tell who was visiting her and if she was ever disappointed, but the words got stuck in her throat.
So, she stood there, small and awkward by her girlfriends grave. She walked up slowly, like something was waiting to attack her when she made it to the peak. She expected more fanfare, more people, birds, noise, something. She had never felt so alone. She stood by that white headstone and felt the breath exit her lungs. She was back in that room again. Holding her dead body, cradling her head, the grass feeling like her soft hair in her hands. There was no ground as she fell to her knees, one of her hands covering her mouth and the other ghosting the headstone. Did she even have the right to touch her grave. It was her fault.
She had gotten overzealous bringing Buffy back and this was her retribution. While the universe demands balance, above all else it is petty and Willow knew it. She knew it didn't seek reparations, because there is nothing you can give the universe that it can just take. It demands pain. It doesn't concern itself with human emotion, it doesn't know, or need to know, sympathy or empathy. It seeks to cause pain because in a world when there is nothing you can gain, why not just take. It needed everyone to know how powerless they are, that no matter what you think you have, it's not yours. The universe was the all mother, she put you here and she will take you out. She'll take your little toys, she'll stop you from seeing your friends, she gave everything for you meaning she has every right to take it back.
But it was supposed to be okay.
Buffy had saved the universe more times than anyone could count, why does the billions of lives she saved not balance out her one life. Her one significant life. And even if the universe couldn't recognize her importance, wasn't it enough that she quit. She was clean. She did what she was supposed to, so why wasn't it okay. It was supposed to be okay, and it's her fault it isn't.
A part of her wanted to rip through the ground and prove that she was really under there. A part of her couldn't believe that she was really gone. Her spirit still lived that house for her.
Buffy was right, maybe she did need this, for closure at the very least. Maybe the room will warm up after this, maybe she'll stop seeing her in mirrors, maybe her blood will leave her hands and clothes. Her death felt so real, the blood ran thick and slick and it stained everything she touched. Her sheets had bloody handprints, her pillows smelled like copper, her skin and her nails were caked in oxidized blood and she wanted to pull it off herself. If she could trade places with Warren, slip out of her skin and set it on fire to begin again she would. Maybe then she'd feel lighter. But that's not what Tara would want.
Tara would want her to power through. She would want her to keep getting better. She would take her in her arms and brush her hair and tell her it was going to be okay. That she was going to be okay. She would tell her she deserved to be happy, and if letting her go was how she did it, then that's what needed to be done. That maybe she should let go. She would kiss her forehead and tell her she was too strong to give up. But Tara made her strong and she had never gone through anything like this and there was never going to be another Tara.
It hurt. Her head, her soul, her body it all ached and Tara's death ate away at her until she was nothing just like she was before. Lower than she was before. She was pathetic but at least her hands were clean. Now she was dirty and she should've been left to rot in the dirt.
In the ranch, she had thought she was going to be buried under than tree. Her willow tree. She had grown a patch of flowers underneath the trunk because she didn't think they would deem her worthy enough to do anything but to shovel the dirt over her corpse. It was her one selfish deed, to leave her resting sight something other than overturned dirt and dead grass. She had letters addressed to her friends in the hope that Giles would deliver them. She wonders if he ever found them. She still had them, hidden in place so that no one would find them. If Dawnie saw them, she wouldn't know what to do.
"I don't know what to say to you." She pushed out through tears. She had a lot to say to everyone else, but so much to say to Tara that her mind went blank. Tara got a letter, maybe if she had the courage, she would come back and read it to her. "I miss you. I miss you so much it hurts."
Wherever Tara was, she listened.
"I'm sorry. I'm so sorry, and I know you're tired of me saying it, but it's true."
She was tired of hearing it. I forgive you. You were grieving. It is okay.
"I did - I did a lot of bad things, baby. It didn't make it easier and the pain it-it doesn't go away. It doesn't stop." I know, love. Life is hard. I forgive you.
But Willow couldn't hear. She hadn't heard her the whole time. She had said sorry in so many ways so many times and she was so tired. Tara wanted to tell her it was okay, that she couldn't grieve her forever and she needed to move on. Tara couldn't make it better now. Tara could barely make it better then. Willow needed to get better. She needed time. She needed grace. She was too hurt to see that everyone was giving it to her, but she wasn't accepting of it.
"I'm trying to be strong, I really am. A-And I haven't done any magics like I promised. It's been hard but-but it's been good for me. I don't know if I can do this, but I'm gonna try for you."
I'm so proud of you. You're doing so well. Try for you, not me.
"A-And everyone is doing well. They miss you, too. They probably tell you every time they visit." She sniffled a bit while wiping her tears.
They tell me all the time. They missed you too. I miss you too.
They sat in silence for a while, both leaning on the grave for different sides of life and death. Willow wept. Cried so hard her tears probably watered the flowers growing on her grave. They sat together and the quiet said more than enough, they conversed beyond words just as they were together beyond the grave.
"I love you."
I love you too. She screamed it, but she couldn't hear her. I love you still. Despite it all, I love you.
She leaned onto the grave. Tara knows because she felt it. Like the feeling of laying on warm sheets on cleaning day and finally get to rest. Like waking up to misshapen pancakes and apple juice. Like watching her take care of Dawnie and promise her that they would live together in a nice cottage in the countryside. Just the three of them. Happy. Content. At peace.

I am once again presenting this hellsite with a sequel series idea for a popular tv show that will never see the light of day because I do not work in hollywood
Tumblr media
Characters:
Tumblr media
Amaryllis Kiltcher
Tumblr media
The new slayer in town, eager to prove herself.
At 15, she’s young and sometimes reckless.
Her attempts at bringing peace often leads to more chaos, especially when right and wrong are hard to tell apart.
A special bond grows between her and her Watcher, even if they don’t necessarily see eye to eye.
Reggy Clark & Ishaan Kapur
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Reggy and Ishaan are the slayer’s loyal friends, who have been with her through thick and thin. Even before they found out her destiny.
Their roles are similar to Willow and Xander in the original series.
Reggy and Amaryllis’ relationship was becoming something more before this whole slaying thing started. When duty becomes a priority, though, they agree to put their feelings aside and focus on saving the world.
Ishaan kind of hates being the third wheel. He’s the whiz of the group. Probably on the path of becoming President or something equally as important. For now, he’s just happy to help his friend in her newfound role.
Lotus Kiltcher
Tumblr media
Amaryllis’ kid sister, always looking for trouble.
She’s the fire. Her sister is the ice to cool her down.
She’s the only kid brave enough to talk to local weirdo, Bird Pratt.
Bird Pratt
Tumblr media
He shows kindness to everyone, alive or dead.
He attempts to befriend the creatures he encounters. Most times it gets him in trouble. But sometimes kindness prevails and he makes a new friend.
He’s the oddball, obsessed with monsters. But there’s something else strange about him. And it’s even weirder Willow sometimes refers to him as something more, something greater. He’s like a secret.
Bill Pratt
Tumblr media
He has vague memories of a different time, of a time of darkness.
But he’s mortal, and monsters only exist in his son’s imagination—he ignores the nightmares telling him otherwise.
His son holds him in a light he knows, deep down, he isn’t worthy. But Bird’s faith in him makes him want to try.
Willow Rosenberg
Tumblr media
Amaryllis’ reluctant Watcher, sent to protect this new generation of Scoobies.
Watching over the new gang brings back memories of her youth. She only wishes Spike knew who he was and remembered her from his past, so she has an adult to talk to about all this.
She keeps quiet, for now.
Details
I don’t really have a particular plot in mind. They’ll just be fighting monsters each episode that leads up to them fighting the final boss, like how it is in the original series.
It’ll basically be a Buffy reboot but for the modern times.
But I like the idea of exploring the anti hero this time around. Like, maybe the main character isn’t necessarily good. Maybe the slayer was a thief before all this. And this newfound role is putting her on a better path, but also maybe not.
Still not sure about Bird’s name (thought about it being Buddy, but that sounds too close to Buffy), but I imagine he’s a junior, as in Spike named him after himself, and he goes by a nickname.
Bird, I imagine, is similar to Dawn in that he might not be quite human and “Bill” (Spike) somehow became mortal and lost his memories to keep him safe.
I wanted Spike to be back (because I like him as a character), but the actor’s older and doesn’t look like his vampire self anymore, which is okay (aging is beautiful). It just means he has to age somehow.
Again, I don’t even know if any of these Buffy characters are even alive by the end of the series.
And obviously other characters from the original make guest appearances:
Buffy
She’s obviously still alive, probably slaying in Europe or somewhere. Her guest appearance most likely is to get Spike back to the way he was.
I just imagine her watching the oblivious “Bill” in the distance as he just casually shops for groceries or does something else so ordinary Spike would vomit at even the thought of doing it
Maybe they go on a date or two, but she can’t continue with the lie, so she cuts it off when she can’t convince him to snap out of it.
The other Scoobie members make various appearances to visit Willow and help out whenever they’re needed.
Notes
I haven’t finished the series yet and I’m not planning to read the comics continuing the story, so who knows if anyone’s even still alive¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Also, Willow’s kind of crazy right now (I’m nearing the end of season 6), so hopefully she snaps out of it.
And Angel and Cordelia could make appearances too. Probably. If they’re still around. I haven’t seen the Angel spinoff.
Idk how the whole Spike/Buffy thing turns out, but I like them together. Like, Angel was puppy love. I don’t know if Spike/Buffy is love yet (at the end of season 6), but I can see it growing into something more mature, omitting the bathroom scene.
You’ll notice this new “cast” in my concept image is a little more diverse than the original. I like having diversity.
Lastly, Joss Whedon will obviously have no part in this hypothetical sequel. He will stay far away.

May I request buffy for the dashboard osmosis if you haven't seen it? Or if you have then steven universe
i'll do buffy
isabel, i like and respect you. but i hear about buffy a lot on tvtropes (in fact tvtropes started as a buffy fansite??) and almost everything i hear sounds... bad. it sounds like a cringe show. i'm sorry
i haven't seen it at all so thats not fair of me. but. yeah
or maybe the show isn't cringe but the fandom is. or both. hmm
buffy the vampire slayer was a 90s supernatural show made by joss whedon at his peak LOOK IM A FEMINIST fuckery
it stars sarah michelle gellar (who i know primarily as daphne in the live action scooby doo movies, and that bitch from cruel intentions) as buffy summers. and she's The Slayer. slayers are like chosen ones, and its a title thats passed on for i dunno hundreds of years
slayers... slay vampires, i presume
she talks in a specific manner hence the trope Buffy Speak. it's basically like a weird simple talky thingy (that was buffy speak)
one of the characters is willow rosenberg played by allison hannigan. and as a bi activist engrossed with fiction, i have certainly heard of this character. basically, she's the poster child for The 90s Being Weird About Bisexuality. as she was into dudes and then she's into a girl and the show is weird about it and she's Suddenly Lesbian. and like, yes, lesbians discovering themselves after dating dudes is totally a thing but thats not the logic being used here, it's just awkward biphobia. oh yes. i've heard much about willow and tara
tho, willow/tara is a case of Fair For It's Day
seth green played oz, a sardonic werewolf of little words. he was the dude willow was into before her bisexuality activated
david borealis and james marsters are angel and spike, they're two vampires that buffy is super into and i get the vibe that their love triangle is like a Big Thing in this show and/or the fandom. angel is the "good" one, spike is the bad one. i read that buffy and spike raped each other (with the buffy raping spike being played for laughs because life is a fucking nightmare). so that's fucked
angel got his own spin off called angel and one time angel became a muppet in it. i approve
angel is one of those brooding "i can never be good, theres no hope for me" types of vampires. the kinda guy tailored for certain women to be like "ohhh i can fix him" or whatever. it's kinda funny. on the flipside i assume spike is for the "mmm i don't wanna fix him" types
this is before this type of thing was subject to parody
there's some blando guy named xander, i think he's a nerd and meant to be an audience self insert. i've seen ppl say he has nice guy syndrome but i dunno how true that is. dunno who plays him
anthony head plays rupert giles, he's the exposition and mentor dude. makes dry remarks and spouts encouragement, i think
charmed, a show i love, apparently stole buffy's vibes a lot
buffy is the first show where somebody used google as a verb. as in "googled"
theres a musical episode wherein dancer and singer hilton battle Absolutely Fucks. oh and everybody has musical numbers, including one that ends with tara levitating from cunnilingus. this was noteworthy because sapphic characters being sexual was actually rare in mainstream media in the 90s. again, fair for it's day
oh, this is a monster of the week show where some overarching story each season. doug jones made a few appearances
i get the impression that buffy is one of those shows that has good actors and concepts but fucky writing. it happens, i feel you
is buffy a cheerleader or did i imagine that. i might be thinking of heroes (which also suffered from great acting, fucky writing)
anyways thank you for your time

One of my key elements with In the Company of Witches and Slayers:
Stems ultimately from disliking some of Joss Whedon's tropes intensely, to a point of deliberately creating a humongously long fic that serves as a mirror universe to canon. Also a darker universe by definition as mirror universes are. One of the mirror universe aspects is particular characters who are fluffier (relatively, anyway) by canonical standards like Jonathan Levinson and Tara Maclay get harder-edged and darker elements here.
This was, ultimately, too, because one of my ideas was getting disenchanted with learning Tara was basically replacement Willow and deciding to make this one of the main elements of the mirror and inversion of canon aspects. As with canon Willow Tara is the one character who absolutely will not die no matter how much peril she's placed in.
This means she also gets to do what canon Tara wouldn't mostly because she's a cinnamon bun and both hurt and embarrass Glory and Warren Mears to the point that Witches and Slayers Tara neatly spends much of Season 6 single-handedly thwarting the Trio in her spare time, which accounts for why they go for AU Willow specifically to get their own back at what they see as jobbing to the C-team.
Halfrek, too, instead of being fridged by D'Hoffryn, gets to live and has her own key role to play in both later events and the outcome of this AU's version of Season 10.
Because canon Willow is the one who absolutely is golden no matter what happens, AU Willow has a bit of a Kenny aspect including robot doubles who exist purely to die and die horrible deaths if they were flesh and blood humans and AU Willow actually notes the irony in being so non-chalant about how the robots get it. The Buffybots of this AU also get happier aspects and unlike the canon universe the robots are a kind of third aspect here.
The irony of a mirror universe reliant on inverting aspects of canon characterization but otherwise very much the same individuals facing similar crises, is that more than a few people who died in the canon died differently, while the one death that lingers the same in both universes in different ways is that of Jenny Calendar, as it's an important note where ALL the Scoobies understand what Buffy did the entire time.
That they are in a war, and in wars people die, and the vampires they fight really ARE dangerous with Angelus in Witches and Slayers getting the ironic aspect that he's the only big bad who actually comes closest to outright killing this AU's Willow by the simple expedient of 'girl still needs to breathe' and almost suffocating her to death in an exercise of Angelus Angelusing.
Glory, D'Hoffryn, Twilight (and Yeneli), all are far more powerful than he is in every way imaginable. None of them even come as close as he did, because for all that I dunk on Angel he's one of his world's champions for a reason and when he goes bad, he goes very, very bad and very efficiently nasty for a reason.
And in terms of their enemies, it's Angelus, Warren Mears, and Glory in that order who have the greatest single impact, with Warren as the catalyst in both worlds to unleash Dark Willow, who is more driven mad with a sheer overdose of rival elements of magic in short order as otherwise it'd basically be 'Willow Rosenberg Kid Miraclemans the cast, story's over.'
Angelus has pride of place because he was where it fully sank in how dangerous things actually were, and because he's by far the smartest and the most capable enemy of dealing lasting psychological damage. He also gets his one Slayer kill with Kendra Young in this AU, who dies a different death and one that in its turn is also more meaningful.
Warren Mears, again, because he is the one who brings the heroes to their nadir in fighting each other, not because he himself is impressive, but because the very things that make him unimpressive make him this supreme danger hiding in plain sight. Given I also make a point to unceremoniously kill him off in other stories this is a result of having no choice but to use him. He's also built up as a background mook in earlier seasons who emerges as a big bad in his own right.
Glory third, because in every universe one Scooby dies to 'fix' the crisis she made and there's no evading it. Also third because relative to Angelus and Mears Glory is an entirely different threat and kind of character. She's a juggernaut with a flamboyant giggly personality who plays for higher stakes with sharper rules.
Angelus and Mears do much greater personal damage, Glory is more of a typhoon with a will and no less able to really be faced in one way, and in her own way too a pivotal point in Willow Rosenberg's rise to the renewal of magic. The shadow she casts, too, in this universe is that after a year of fighting an actual god the invulnerable juggernaut Willow Rosenberg dies, where people less powerful than she is live.
The paradoxes in that are there and intended from the start....and ultimately the irony is that this is one of the big ways to both balance things in-universe and to add to that tension and irony. Willow might be more powerful than most of her AU counterparts but she's also the one who actually died and draws the most dangerous opponents to face herself because they want a real fight. Which works as her average day on the job but if you're a squishy normal person it's rather less fun to fight the equivalent of Superman's Rogue's Gallery.
That same balance and noting the inversion of canon themes where the good girl goes bad and proves to have a rather unpleasant callous and sadistic streak is there with Pandora, who is a clone who goes through the same process to create a mirror of Willow's powers that Willow has....and reacts to it with a blend of murderous sadism and jovial cruelty that covers a deep burning resentment that she was made specifically to suffer in the ways she did.
Pandora exists to also specifically refute any view that specific bloodline or DNA matters, as in every way that counts she's Willow's mirror, except that one is the superheroic (even if she denies it) Supergirl analogue. The other is more Thanos of Titan meets General Zod, and when the two fully face each other as mirrors in Season 11 it moves to the most directly superheroic tropes.
The supervillain, as always, is the dark mirror of the superhero, and Pandora in this regard is also a very direct and dark mirror to Warren Mears, and essentially a Willow clone who embraces the villainous path and takes on more than a few Mears-like traits as, after all, the Trio wanted to be supervillains but were perfectly regular people with one super-genius. Pandora has the same blend of magic and Superman-like powers down to the eyebeams that Willow does.
Dark Willow is Brandon Breyer, Pandora is Thanos and Johnny Bates, down to embracing a blend of MCU Thanos's armor and a super-suit much like Bates' in that one issue where he murders the Hell out of London.
This is done precisely to ensure that the Superman problem is avoided. And there are two solutions to that. One is to continually create situations that can't be punched out of. The other is to introduce equally powerful villains to fight, which is a theme that starts with the Judge, includes Glorificus, and ultimately Pandora who equally when she finally decides to move to center stage against the Scoobies reveals the difference between a person driven mad with pain and long-term rage issues boiling over and someone actively trying to kill you with Superman-like powers amplified by reality warping.
So in addition to the whole inversion aspect, Buffy has a standard Slayer narrative. Willow is, essentially, very explicitly a higher-level DC or Marvel type character in the Buffyverse, and the ways she's an Outside Context Problem are one of the defining elements of the story. This is also why Wanda Maximoff and this AU's version of the Hulk are there, because both the canon has nods to Marvel and this is explicitly Joss Whedon's Wanda Maximoff, who incorporated more than a few elements of Willow
Also Xander Harris, rather than being a moral mouthpiece, is explicitly noted as a jackass and one of this AU's Tara's reasons for becoming this harder-edged and slippery slope in moral terms counterpart to other Taras (if not the outright evil murderous Siphon of one of my other AUs) is connecting and bonding with Xander over mutual survivorship of physical abuse and complicated emotions of then with Oz Willow and the influence of Xander Harris on Tara Maclay is actually bad for her and contributes to a lot of her problems.
This, IMO, would also be one of the logical outcomes of the old school 'Tara joins the Scoobies in high school' thing. Tara and Xander would have a lot of reasons to become close friends and that would be 'friends who make each other worse' through and through.

#buffy the vampire slayer#willow rosenberg#I think in very real ways#both willow and xander’s early season crushes were about the perceived unattainability of their crush#because then they could imagine a relationship the way they wanted to#Willow imagines being swept off her feet#Xander imagines being adored unconditionally#both tie into their other issues of abuse and neglect#but I do think Willow goes beyond it to a relationship that fulfills her needs @petpluto oh that's a REALLY good point
actually being serious for a second I do think it's a crying shame that pretty much the entirety of I was made to love you gets overshadowed by like the last minute of the episode. like dear lord do I get why but at the same time there's actually soooo much interesting character stuff going on in that episode especially with what it reveals about the ways the different characters see relationships. thinking very hard in particular about willow sympathising with warren and sort of tacitly agreeing with him that being with "a person you made up" must be easier than being with a real person, and how that connects with the way she starts using magic to try and manipulate people to her liking in the next season. thinking and contemplating

Standing up for Willow (Pt 1?)
Fandom: Buffy the Vampire Slayer
Pairing: Willow x reader ( First meeting so it could be platonic if you want)
Warnings: Cordelia is a bully.
Summary: Cordelia decided to be rude again and Y/N isn’t having any of it. Also, I have decided to use Y/N instead of S/O in order to let people interpret things outside of the romantic equation if they want to.
Word count: 515
Y/N situated the backpack on them as they walked through the lunch line. They had been going to school at Sunnydale High for a few days, not long enough to get many friends, but long enough to see the social rankings at work. Like many high schools and other social institutions, people grouped together based on interests. Jocks, nerds, geeks, thespians, band kids, and the list goes on and on. Beyond these groups was a ranking system based on popularity, usually associated with symbolism's of class, but outliers lay in anything. Either way, this knowledge was y/n figure out to whom they could approach and for what reason.
Y/N made their way through the lunchroom after paying for the food, trying to decide on who to try and sit with today. Normally they would sit near a classmate that they worked on an assignment with, but they figured it was time to find a little click of their own. That’s when their eyes fell onto an infuriating scene.
“Hi, little Willow. Love your outfit, did the morgue pick it out?” Cordelia Chase. The resident mean girl that had to make sure she was on top of everyone and everything had found a victim for the day. Granted, y/n knew that they usually just said these things in passing, but something must have had the woman in a mood.
“Hi, Cordelia…” The other girl, evidently named Willow, had a weakness in her voice that Y/N recognized far too easily.
“You should sound happy that I’m even addressing you!” Cordelia continued her teasing and a quick glance around Willow’s table showed that her friends had yet to come.
“Cordelia, please, I just want to eat.”
“Oh please, like you need to-HEY”
A soda drenched the front of Cordelia’s shirt as Y/N tilted the can, a small smirk on their face.
“Are you an idiot?! What is your damage!?” Cordelia screeched, arms flailing to the side as the can finally emptied.
“Awe, I’m sorry Cordy. I didn’t mean to spill anything on your frada top.” Y/N faked a look of sadness that could have them awarded an oscar. They sat their tray down on the spot beside of Willow, their fake frown turning back into a smile. “You might want to get that cleaned up before it stains.” The added warning had Cordelia running towards the nearest bathroom, leaving Y/N chuckling as they sat beside Willow.
“Hey, thanks for that! You didn’t have to help though. I think she’s going to put you on her list now.” Willow gave them a sympathetic look which just left them shrugging.
“Ah, it’s okay. I’ve trained myself to handle a few words from a mean girl so I don’t mind all that much. You are okay with me sitting here though, right?”
“Oh, of course! Anyone that can stand up to Cordelia is welcomed at this table. My friends should be getting here shortly and I’m sure they are gonna love this.” Willow’s smile seemed to illuminate the room and Y/N couldn’t help their own smile that spread across their face.
