Some assorted circus/Buckzo family headcanons (fic someday maybe?)

Tilla was kind of a free spirit (who else would go join the circus?) and told fortunes for a small fee. There was no magic involved. She just got to know people and told them what they wanted to hear. She told each of the three kids their fortunes, and they all walked out of her tent feeling special and excited for their futures.

I also think Tilla may have been chronically ill/not always present in her kids' lives.

No one was watching these kids. Seriously. They were always climbing on dangerous things and interacting with creepy adults. Someone please watch them.

They all had each other's backs though. Most often, it was Blitz and Barbie who had to help Fizz out of ridiculous situations.

On that note, Fizz was a little younger than the other two (a year or so).

Blitz first learned to fight so he could protect his sister and his best friend from the rough crowd that tended to hang around after circus shows.

He was also regularly smacked around by his dad for being a shit performer and a troublemaker, and he fantasized about fighting back once he got older and stronger. By the time he was fifteen or so, he definitely could have taken his dad down a peg, but in spite of that he never hit back.

The person who owns the circus is a human sinner overlord. He realized that imps are harder to control than other sinners because he can't own their souls, so he branded them (the forehead symbol) to keep them from leaving/working for someone else. This didn't sit right with Tilla, but Cash promised her that they'd find a way out eventually after making a whole lot of money.

Cash thought of himself as a lot smarter than he actually was.

Cash took Fizz under his wing when Fizz was about seven and showed a ton of potential at an audition. Fizz's parents were super poor and HATED the branding and losing access to their kid, but they were starving, so they let him go out of hope for a better future.

Fizz's parents were always trying to get back into his life, but Cash kept him from them.

Fizz knew even as a kid that everything he had was because of his talent and that if he failed as a performer, he'd likely be thrown out.

Barbie excelled at acrobatics, but she never got nearly as much praise from Cash as Fizz did. She was jealous but didn't see any point to dwelling on it. She buried emotions from an early age and put her energy into keeping up and succeeding.

Cash gave up on Blitz's performance career long before Blitz gave up on it himself. Blitz kept coming up with increasingly ridiculous and dangerous performances to try to finally prove himself.

I thought I would focus more on Blitz, but it all ended up being about the people around him! More another time.

A big part of me hopes, that as bad as a father Buckzo was, he did atleast love Tilla and was a decent husband, or at least tried to be a good husband to her. It’s implied that she was sick or atleast was dealing with health problems. I feel like even though Buckzo was def manipulating Blitz, he did atleast mean the part of wanting to help her. If she was sick, she’d have to have been getting some kind of treatment. If that was the case, maybe Cash did actually put what Blitz got into whatever treatment she needed but it was a type of case that couldn’t be immediately cured and required ongoing treatments. And what was left would be put into the circus(as well as alcohol) which I can imagine the profits from that couldn’t support her alone.

A part of me feels like their relationship would be like Duckman and Beatrice’s from DuckMan. and maybe the choker she wore that Blitzo now has, was a gift from Cash.

and in this photo, it looks like he has his tail around Tilla, holding her. She’s also the only one in a seat, maybe he got it for her so she wouldn’t have to be standing.

Who knows, maybe part of why he was like that was because of being stressed over Tilla. Look at those eye bags, good chance he was running himself ragged trying to support her(paying for treatment, caring for her in their environment, trying not to stress her out and make things worse, etc ) and on top of that, having to manage the rest of the circus, made him turn to alcoholism to cope as well as end up taking his stress out on others, especially Blitz who most likely reminded him of himself, the imp that can’t seem to do anything right💔

Cash-I know I let you down Blitz. Barbie and Fizz too. I know I messed up. But please believe me when I say I really did try for her💔

It's actually wild how similar Loona and Stolas look in their human disguises.

Imagining a scenario where they're out together in the Human World after Blitzø and Stolas get together and people believe they're biologically father/daughter or something like that

And how insane would it be if Blitzø's and Via's human disguises end up looking similar too

nowhere in stolas' confession does he say "i'm in love with you", because deep down, he knows he can't be in love--he barely knows blitz in reality, but he does know that he cares for blitz and has developed feelings for him, so that's what he tells him

while blitz DOES want a relationship--and i'll just take this right out of truth seekers--he "simply cannot fathom proper intimacy", the idea of loving people scares him, and the idea of people loving him seems too impossible to be true

if stolas HAD said "i love you", there's no telling how blitz might have reacted. things might have turned out a lot worse, actually, especially when you consider how blitz reacted when verosika confessed to him

the point i'm trying to make, is thank god he didn't!

if he DID, stolitz actually might not have been salvageable, because blitz might have run the fuck off!

and even then, all it took was stolas saying that he cared about blitz, because he made the connection himself:

he's the only one who explicitly mentions "love"

"i care very deeply for you" = "i love you" = roleplay!

also interesting, note what he says right before this: "this is an interesting roleplay, never done this one, but i can get into it."

i see a lot of people talk about the mob family line moxxie says in this episode, and yeah, it's crazy foreshadowing!

it's even crazier foreshadowing when you look at the literal title of the episode!

you ever hear the saying "hurt people hurt people"?

murder family murder family! as in, moxxie was in his own murder family! as in, blitz fucking third degreed his mom! LITERALLY!

the whole episode is foreshadowing for the both of them for the entire series, not just moxxie. moxxie maintained some of his morals, but blitz didn't seem to maintain any of his.

also, this visual foreshadowing:

they're eating fish! that's definitely fish right? because millie turns one of the goon sharks into sushi during her little rampage and it looks eerily similar! and they had just dragged in a body beforehand! ahaha what the Fuck! does that count as cannibalism?

like there's clearly a difference between these two but are they made of the same flesh??? is this ethical??????

Headcanon: Blitz has been told since he was a kid that he's like his dad. Being compared to your own abuser can do a number on you.

Adults he worked with at the circus would say it all the time but never said what they meant. They'd smile when they said it though. As an adult, Blitz realizes that they probably meant to say he was daring, quick witted, full of ideas, even charismatic in a way . . . But those who'd been with the circus for a while couldn't make a comparison like that without knowing what else they were implying. They meant that Blitz was impulsive, tempermental, mischievous- that he'd probably grow to be manipulative, angry, scheming, bitter, cruel. Self-serving. Self-destructive. Blitz thinks now that he's becoming more like Cash every day- he fears hurting those he cares about too- he's trying not to be like his dad.

Blitz doesn't understand that he'll never become his dad because he's too much like his mom. An offbeat sense of humor, deep love for a few choice people, determination to make his own decisions, a spirit that can withstand a really hard life.
