5-Run 7th Helps Twins Past Brewers!
Twins 7 Brewers 3 W-Duarte (1-0) L-Payamps (0-1)
The Minnesota Twins bats have been scuffling lately and it has led to two straight losses. They eventually woke up today in Milwaukee. The Brewers started the scoring in the second inning as Sal Frelick beat out an infield single. Joey Ortiz singled to left and Brice Turang hit a sac fly to right to put Milwaukee up. The Brewers added on in the fourth as Rhys Hoskins smacked a Chris Paddack change-up out to left for a solo home run. Milwaukee doubled their lead after four innings of play. The Twins would finally find some offense in the fifth as they loaded up the bases. Carlos Santana hit an RBI groundout to second to pull Minnesota within a run. The Brewers got that run back in the bottom of the inning as Jackson Chourio belted a Daniel Duarte slider out to center for a solo homer. This put Milwaukee back up by two after five frames. The Twins bats got hot in the seventh with an Alex Kirilloff double and Byron Buxton doubled him home. Carlos Correa singled home a run to even the game at three. Carlos Santana followed with a single and Ryan Jeffers smoked a Bryse Wilson fastball that cleared the left field wall for a three-run home run. This capped off a five run seventh and gave the Twins a three-run lead. The Twins would add on in the ninth with a Carlos Correa lead-off walk. He reached second on a groundout and Ryan Jeffers singled him home. The Twins bullpen held up and Steven Okert put up a zero in the ninth. The Twins split a pair of games with the Brewers this week.
-Final Thoughts- Chris Paddack got out of a lot of trouble today. He went four innings and allowed two runs on six hits with two walks and two strikeouts. Daniel Duarte gave up a run over two innings, Brock Stewart fanned two in the seventh, and Griffin Jax put up a zero in the eighth. Steven Okert had a scoreless ninth to close out the game. Alex Kirilloff led the team with four hits. Byron Buxton and Ryan Jeffers added two hits each. The Twins hit 4-for-15 with runners in scoring position and left eleven men on base.
