Orion was out. Again. Brutus by himself. They might be giving him too much credit for how capable he is of taking care of himself. He isn’t looking for anything in particular, just drifting as he does. It’s comforting, and makes the sound of the roaring fire in his ears dull somewhat.

They recognize Cora for what de are almost instantly. She carries perself in a way that’s all too reminiscent of his mother. He considers for a few minutes before walking up to them.

“Hello?”

e tilts her head, a smile forming on her face. “hey little vastling. what’s up?” it smiles brightly, eyes light and empty.

Mort pops into Orion's apartment through a door that definitely wasn't there before. It's getting increasingly easy for hum to pass through the Spiral. Perhaps that's not a good thing.

He glances around at this place, trying not to trip on the handful of toys Brutus left out. It's small, but it's safe, and at the end of the day, the boy needed safety.

The one thing he was supposed to be able to provide. And he couldn't.

HOLY SHIT YEAH!!!

I’m so glad you brought up the whole leash/muzzle thing because that is like a big thing for Fuse, just to humiliate test subjects. He loves dragging them by their leashes to the operating rooms and feeling them pull back with all their might until they tire themselves and become weaker, or eventually just give in and walk with him cooperatively. He especially likes doing this with canine/feline fusions

Also I think Brutus could’ve been the one to break his wing as well. (Doesn’t explain and just acts like you know who Brutus is)

I think, if Larry every gets particularly on Fuse’s nerves, he’d just cut off his crest. Like yeah sure it’ll leave Larry freaking out over it and pulling out more feathers than he ever has in his life as a fusion, but maybe it’ll teach him not to [insert whatever thing Larry did to piss Fuse off so much. Fuse is unpredictable if you haven’t been around him for atleast a few years. Even then you gotta constantly walk on eggshells around him. They’ll still break anyways, but if you’re too rough with the metaphorical eggshells, you might find sharp tacks underneath. Weird analogy but WHATEVER I like my analogies >:)] His crest will grow back in a year anyways. (Which is like… nothing to Fuse in terms of time.)

Staraptor: On his OG normal-type and flying-type teams. He's the old reliable being strong, swift, and savage. Staraptor is definitely his favorite. Everyone fears the crimson crest of the Death Raptor.

Dundunsparce: On his OG normal-type team. Usually used as a disruptor with its serene grace and being an unexpected Pokèmon to use. I headcanon that Dundunsparce is squishy (other than its tail) so if Larry needed to relieve some stress without committing mass murder he's got a 12-foot stress toy to hug. 🤗

Maushold: The resident spies of the team with their small size and high speed. It's a family of three instead of four because I want to make a Spy x Family reference and Larry has crazy luck.

Zangoose: A powerful and aggressive all-rounder. With its abilities immunity and toxic boost, I headcanon Zangoose to be extremely resistant to venom and, more importantly, poisons. Zangoose is the resident food tester to see if any food is tainted, you know when it's bright pink eyes dim the food is poisonous.

Pyroar: Resident Hunter, catching cooking food for the team. I know I put the make artwork for the image, but I changed my mind last minute, so pretend it is the female one. She's also extremely helpful with Arson =) 🔥

Bloodmoon Ursaluna: A very recent addition to the team and a relentless wild card. Larry found the Bloodmoon Beast while searching for Nikey who fled to Kitakami after one of their encounters, or the Bloodmoon Beast found him. He and his team of Pokèmon were attacked by the Ursaluna when unknowingly setting up camp in its territory. After a long and terrifying battle, Larry was able to capture the Bloodmoon Ursaluna and help it gain vengeance on the humans who hunted its population to extinction for all time.

Other Tidbits (TW WARNING FOR INJURY/MEDICAL REFERENCES):

Larry’s robotic arm has a compass-like symbol on the hand resembling the Paldean League gloves. The arm was made for him after he was found injured, so it'd make sense the league would use their branded tech.

Larry got his bloodshot eyes from recording his misadventures and theories of the time loop on his impossibly strong computer and staring at the screen for so long.

Larry’s skin has become gray because of a rare condition called argyria. It is caused by too much silver building up in a person’s body. During the incident where he lost his arm, Larry also got severe burns from the blast so he got silver sulfadiazine (SDD) to prevent infection. The symptoms of argyria he also got are headaches, fatigue, skin irritation, and, in rare instances, seizures.

Larry is super cold all the time, half from the sky being covered in clouds and half him being naturally cold, so he wears long sleeves no matter what.

Larry would've had Tropius but they died after succumbing to the harsh weather of the covered sky. Larry still has nightmares about how he couldn't save them in time, usually with a rotting and/or freezing Tropius asking “Why” in a chilling voice.

the song 'brutus', though actually telling the story of the historical figure, is really megatron coded to me. especially in his gladiator era in tfp.

like some of the specific lyrics dont really fit his narrative but overall its a pretty close match.

in the song, 'julius caesar' could be many different characters, depending on the lyric.

"ill never forget you showed me to make art, and i know the love you showed me came from a pure and noble heart"

<- would be him talking about orion and the discussions theyve had.

and then immediately afterwards-

"I love you, and if you want, ill call you king"

<- referring to the their meeting with the council where they name orion the next prime.

but then-

"But why do i lay awake each night thinking instead of you, it should be me?"

<- is him letting his jealousy and hatred take him over and eventually starting the war.

and throughout the song, the chanting of "brutus, brutus, brutus, brutus" just really reminds me of people cheering for him in the pits of kaon.

I love names. One of my favorite parts of my job Is hearing the names that get chosen.

What I love and have always loved about the names in the Hunger game is the influences from ancient cultures. When I was in Middle school and the hunger games was about to come into theaters, I was in a playwriting cohort through a local theater. I had to write a children's play and all of the names I chose came from the Hunger Games. A fairy named Glimmer, a doe named Rue. Etc. I come to learn later, that many of the names were from Ancient Roman and Greek Influences, especially those in the Capitol. Think Ceaser, Cressida, Octavia, Aurelius, Atala. Even in District two we have Cato, Brutus. Now when we get to the districts we have these names with earthy undertones, or calling back to the root of their district. District one, while it's not the same ancient influence, we have Glimmer, Gloss, Cashmere, all these luxe items. It still calls to wealth, in a different way than the ancient regal names of the Capitol. But as we go through the districts, the poorer districts, the names call back to the Earth, a Katniss and Primrose- plants. Thresh- harvesting grain. Rue means both herb and regret, and I think theres intention in that name choice. Gale- gust of wind. I do believe that there is intention behind a lot of these names in terms of the story.

That being said, my favorite name? Clove. Yes, I am a big clove Stan. But I think her name is just short and simple and still this edge of intensity and ferocity. Clove means Nail, as well as a spice. I believe win the context of masonry in district 2 her name is probably more of the 'nail' than the spice/earthy influence. This name has latin origin in a different way than Cato, but still calls back to her district as well as that ancient influence. I love the name Clove beyond topic of just THG too though, I dont want children, but if I had a daughter, I would name her Clove. I have a unique name myself, and I like Clove in that it is not popular/common but also way more pronounceable and readable than my name.

So I am a writer and I have a bigger au in the works right now in terms of mockingjay and catching fire, but with some rearrangement of characters so that we can have more young victors involved in the revolution. I think adding that youthful influence of recent victors (which means some of Katniss' competition will be in different games) could really add a new dimension to the rebellion. That being said, I don't have any original characters with names in the current timeline. I will be honest though, in that my signature fic style among ALL fandoms I've ever written for (and its a lot, I've been writing fanfic for 15 years), is baby fic. I know it's not everyone's cup of tea! That being said, thats usually the only sort of original characters I tend to involve.

alll that to say the only name I have definitively decided on is the name Crimson.

If you’re a reader, what’s a name you read in a THG fanfic that stuck with you?

I love fanfic. So much. The names that have stuck with me are usually names of Peeta and Katniss' children, since it's a Fanon decision. Years ago I read a fic where they name their son Orion, the archer constellation. I loved that, I loved the astrological tie in.

Another I read many years ago was about a girl named Troy, in relation to Cato and Clove. I loved it for the sheer reason of the callback to the Battle of Troy, great soldiers, that ancient greek influence. It's fitting regarding district 2, the soldiers that the victors ultimately become in the time of their games. I loved the tie in of all of the above :)
