X of Swords - Saturnyne's Tarot Read
The inciting incident for X of Swords was Amenth/Arakko conquering the Otherworld province of Dryador, killing everything that lived. Saturnyne used their boastful ownership of Dryador to have them agree they were her vassals - consent being a key element of the Fae's operations.
When they announced their intent to keep conquering until they reached Earth and Krakoa, she rules lawyered them into a contest of Champions. Being Otherworld, she did a tarot reading to preordain the future and lock them into her rules. Here's the cards...
Tumblr media
Judgment, spelt the British way, as Britain is where Otherworld touches Earth. It portrays Apocalypse and his Grandchild through War, Summoner, standing on the cusp of the External Gate. It also references Krakoa and the resurrection protocols - alluding to the enemies it will bring them.
Tumblr media
The Four of Wands. It portrays Apocalypse (and Genesis') four children and original Horsemen. Death, War, Pestilence and Famine. Four is also the most important number in mutant magic, representing the four points of the X.
Tumblr media
The Hanged Man. It portrays Siryn, Archangel, Polaris, Rictor, Rockslide, Summoner, Beast, Apocalypse and Havok. All on the Otherworld side of the External Gate. A LOT was suspended for and by this event, but the card is not just for those pictured. That applies to all players, even Saturnyne.
Tumblr media
The Eight of Cups. It portrays a symbolic picture of Genesis/Annihilation, foreshadowing the tension between the two and the fluidity of alliances/desires/values. The description applies to both of them equally, which is rather elegant IMO.
Tumblr media
The Ten of Swords. It refers to the contest, the two groups of ten swordbearers, and metatextually to the event itself. It portrays Cable with The Light of Galador, Apocalypse with Scarab, Wolverine with Muramasa, Magik with the Soulsword, and Betsy with the Starlight Sword.
I believe the obscured forms in the background are the other Krakoan swordbearers - Cypher with Warlock, Storm with Skybreaker, Brian Braddock with The Sword of Might, and Gorgon with Grasscutter & Godkiller. Though Krakoa had only nine swordbearers, with Gorgon's two blades made the total ten. It could be Bei, The Blood Moon, who switched sides upon marrying Cypher. Isca, the Unbeaten switched sides as well though she didn't have a choice in the matter. Neither seem to match the silhouettes, so perhaps it's just lampshading how stacked the deck seems against them.
Tumblr media
Tarot, one of Emma Frost's old students, drew the same cards as she explains in this data page.
Tumblr media
She knows more about tarot than I do (not a difficult thing) and she adds some context for us. Something I think about often is the confirmation that Apocalypse is into both astrology and tarot. A funny concept, but he also pulls off some wild magic. 616 is inherently more fantastic than our universe and operates on story logic. I think I'd prefer it to what we have, even with all the downsides, but that's just a daydream. Shout-out to Chinese numerology there too BTW.

Halloween II (1981)
In today's review, I find relentless terror runs blood deep. As I attempt a positive review of the 1981 sequel, Halloween II #JamieLeeCurtis #NicholeDrucker #DonaldPleasence #CharlesCyphers #LanceGuest #PamelaSusanShoop #HunterVonLeer #TawnyMoyer
Follow-ups can be interesting; We all want to know how the story carries on. Yet when the curtain has drawn and the makers want to move on, you can’t stop when the audience wants to move on. In 1981, after the whirlwind success of the first film, audiences got to see whether lightning struck twice, and why this evil shade of lightning struck at all in Halloween II. Loomis isn’t…

It’s finally finished! And you know what, I’m not too upset about the way it turned out! I was honestly so worried about how it was looking the entire time, and I definitely don’t think it’s perfect, but considering my current abilities as an artist, I like it!
Now that this is done though, I’m going to take the opportunity to share some of my totheark headcanons (also real quick, I use they/he pronouns for Seth jsyk) >:3
•Seth is the founding member of totheark. He started following Alex not long after he tried to kill Seth and had his whole “everyone is gone” speech, and then later created totheark after seeing Jay’s uploads in an attempt to expose Alex for what he had done to everyone.
•When Alex attacked Seth, they became paralyzed from the neck down and disappeared for months (leading Alex to believe that he had killed them, which he did not). Seth recovered eventually, but now requires a cane to walk as his lower legs never regained full functionality.
•Seth grew up catholic, and still considers himself Christian. This is the main reason behind all the biblical metaphors in totheark, but also because Brian thought it made them sound more intimidating, which is… not actually what Seth was originally going for (he sorta saw totheark as a savior symbol in contrast to The Operator and Alex), but they decided to roll with it.
•Seth was totheark’s editor, cameraman, and the one who’s best at info gathering, Brian was the strategist and the one coming up with the majority of the puzzles, and Tim was the feral attack dog they had to leash up outside to stop him from attacking people wearing glasses and stripped hoodies on the streets.
•Including the main three, there is actually a fourth totheark member: Seth’s dog, Bones (who acts as emotional support).
•Neither of the other totheark members know what happened to Seth; he just disappeared one day at some point during season 3 of MH.
•Many totheark videos (especially near the end) were not actually intended for Jay, but for the other totheark members, who were not in contact much otherwise. They came up with cyphers to decode each other’s puzzles while out in the field and pass information back and forth in a way that might also waste some of Alex’s time.
•The secondary purpose of totheark outside of exposing Alex and helping Jay was to research The Operator; find out how it worked, how it affected others, and most importantly, how to kill it.
•Creating things involving The Operator in ANY way (drawing, creating videos, writing, spray painting or carving into walls, or even just taking notes on the dang thing) is a symptom of The Operator sickness. It’s completely compulsive and cannot be stopped, but the person in question usually doesn’t realize that. Totheark’s videos were a direct product of this, and it kept all three of them in the clutches of The Operator even if they weren’t directly around it as much as Jay or Alex, at least in the beginning.
•Early on, when they had days off, the three used to hang out in Seth’s apartment and binge the entirety of One Piece together to destress. They never finished it.

brian "we do a little trolling" thomas. putting cyphers that mean nothing in the tta videos just to fuck w/ jay and those trying to figure it out. leaving meaningless clues. there's a message in one of the videos that's like "you should've seen your face!" and then it cuts to a video of jay, very obviously strung out trying to figure out a puzzle but it's been taken outside of his window. IMMEDIATE restraining order

You wanna know what I want to see more of in the creepypasta fandom? B.E.N. and Brian interacting.
THINK ABOUT IT. THE POSSIBILITIES.
Brian is (one of) the people who ran ToTheArk, a BUNCH of videos full of things to decode. He makes cryptic hidden clues and stalks people.
B.E.N. kind of did something similar in their original first story (not mentioning the arg stuff fully, still learning about all that happened with the full story). They messed around, leaving traces of themself on any webpage they could get their hands on. they kinda stalked someone(they told Jadusable he wasn't the first, but idk I still gotta finish it). they're also kind of 12 years old?? but not? or are multiple children souls in one entity as a collective hivemind? idk
I feel like it could be fun to see them interact. I think Brian is fond of kids, and I think B.E.N. would love to decipher all the cyphers and hidden clues he makes.
I think maybe B.E.N. would probably stumble across Brian making one of his ToTheArk videos and would be so interested in what he's doing, they'd keep on asking questions about it and Brian was eventually like "do you want me to make one for you to solve?" and they responded enthusiastically.
THERE IS SO MUCH CUTE POTENTIAL FOR THIS DUO PLEASE. I need them to be like siblings rn or so help me I will burn this place down. I just love the idea of not many people treating B.E.N. like the kid they are, because they don't usually act like one. But I feel like Brian, Laughing Jack, Sally, Jane, and Kate would probably be the ones to mostly treat them like a kid, so as a result they enjoys hanging out with them a little more than the others.
Give me Brian Thomas/Hoodie and B.E.N. content or give me DEATH.

Jaime coming to terms with the fact he has an alien WMD in his spine and the fact he likes Khaji Da when others do not.
(vague movie spoilers here!) Jaime ducked over his textbook again, highlighter in hand. In the study corral beside him, his notebook was a mess of notes. To any of his classmates, it would be gibberish, which Khaji Da claimed was Ideal.
"I don't think I need to worry about my grades being ruined by someone understanding my notes," he said to Khaji Da in a low voice, highlighting a section of Latin that Khaji Da helpfully provided translations for.
"You should be more careful, Jaime Reyes," Khaji retorted, bringing up another option for cyphers. Jaime ignored the suggestion. "It's first year, they're all too busy studying to plot against me," he said, scanning the page again. It was nice to have a scholarship that covered everything, even textbooks, so he could buy them--new, even--instead of renting.  It was even worth his Abuela's singing anytime Jenny's name came up.  Acting like this was a telenovela, instead of like it was money for his father's life, made it easier on everyone.
"Danger," Khaji's alert voice broke through Jaime's concentration.
"Where?" he hissed, wondering if he could make it to the library stacks before suiting up. He hadn't been totally unaware, but Khaji Da's senses were a lot better than his own.
"Three cubbies down. Brian is posting on his blog."
"Khaji, that's not an emergency. Stop spying on people," Jaime whispered. "Seriously, you can't just hack the library's wifi and, what, see what everyone is looking at? All the time?"
"Of course I can. It's easy." Khaji Da said. "And I don't look at everything. I do not enjoy looking at the porn. Brian is complaining about us."
"Khaji Da, we're going to have a talk about priv--what?"
"He is complaining about Blue Beetle. You. And Me. As if it was our fault about that building yesterday." Khaji Da paused, clearly reading something else. "I can show him a threat to humanity--"
"No," Jaime said, slightly too loudly. The student librarian at the circ desk glanced his way, trying to arch an eyebrow and not particularly succeeding. "Not in the library, Khaji. I mean, not at all. You have to let it go."
"He should not insult you. You are a good hero. I am going to give him a virus."
"Please don't," Jaime said, knowing it was probably too late.
"Too late," Khaji Da confirmed. "You are disappointed."
"Some," Jaime admitted. "Look, you can't just... react like that. Some people won't like us.  That's their problem."
"Yes, it is their problem. Now Brian has no laptop. That is a problem for him."
"That's not what I meant. We can't just attack anyone who doesn't like us."
"I did not! You were very clear that there were to be No Plasma Weapons In The Library. It is rule 47.  I will add a subsection about computer viruses. "
"Thanks. I think," Jaime said, looking back at his notes.
"You left out part of the definition."
"I used shorthand. and your code thingy. I got it. Don't worry."
