Love Letters - Day 7
Welcome to Day 7 of Love Letters, a 00q choose your own adventure! We are in the final stretch now--there will be one more poll tomorrow night, and then we'll wrap on Tuesday, 2/14 around 9:15ish EST.
If you're joining for the first time, you can catch up here: Day 1 Day 2 Day 3 Day 4 Day 5 Day 6
And if you've been voting with us all along, finally--finally--you've unlocked Eve Moneypenny! Well done, chaos muppets. Day 7 starts below the cut. 💜
He didn’t know what had brought Moneypenny to Bath, but it was imperative that he follow her and find out.
Bond waited in the shadow of a newsstand, pretending to look at magazines, until Moneypenny came out of the patisserie, carrying a small pink box wrapped in twine. After a moment, he began to follow, taking care to stay out of her line of sight. This close to the river, the February air had a wet chill to it that made Bond grateful for the scarf he’d brought with him from London. He wrapped it closer around his neck, taking care to arrange it so that it would further obscure his face from view if Moneypenny turned around.
He followed her south for awhile, and then west, toward the Pulteney Bridge. As Bond dodged patrons coming out of a coffee shop, Moneypenny suddenly turned down an alley behind one of the shops.
Bond picked up his pace, trying not to lose her. When he turned the corner, he found Moneypenny aiming a gun at him. Again.
“Once wasn’t enough, Moneypenny?”
“Jesus, Bond,” Moneypenny said, lowering her weapon. “You might want to consider redoing your surveillance training. I realized I had a tail three whole blocks ago. What are you doing here, anyway?”
“I might ask you the same thing.”
“I’m meeting someone.”
“Meeting whom, exactly? Did Mallory send you?”
“There you are, Eve,” said a voice from behind them. “Have you seen—“ Tanner stopped in his tracks. “Oh. Bond.”
“All right, what’s going on?”
Tanner opened his mouth, but before he could speak, Moneypenny grabbed him by the hand. “Fine. You’ve caught us. We’re having a bit of a lover’s holiday.”
Tanner looked from Moneypenny’s face to their joined hands and back again before saying, “Yes. A lover’s holiday.”
“I thought you were seeing that redhead in accounting. Brenna something.” Bond said.
“Yes, well, that’s why we’re sneaking around in Bath. Tanner hasn’t broken it off yet. Poor thing, she’s going to be devastated when she finds out.”
“Oh my god,” Tanner said faintly.
“But people bounce back. Brenda will bounce back, Tanner.”
“It’s Brenna.”
“Anyway, Bond, I don’t think you ever told us while you were here.” Moneypenny folded her arms.
Bond folded his arms back at her. “I’m here to buy Q a Valentine’s Day present. He’s been on about Bath since he watched Persuasion with you.”
“So you’re here to buy him—what, exactly?”
Bond reached for the first thing that came to mind. “A snow globe, if you must know. Of the city.”
“That’s surprisingly sweet. Let’s see it.”
“I haven’t bought it yet. I’m still looking.”
“Luckily for you, there’s a souvenir shop just around the corner,” Moneypenny said breezily. “Shall we go together?”
Twenty minutes later found Bond driving back to London with an extortionately-priced snow globe featuring a replica of the Bath Circus, and Tanner and Moneypenny crammed into the passenger seat of the DB8.
“We really could have taken the train back, Bond,” Tanner said.
“Really,” Moneypenny added, turning away to tap out a message on her mobile, accidentally elbowing Tanner in the stomach as she did so.
“Nonsense,” said Bond. “I insist. This will be much quicker. I know it’s a squeeze, but you lovebirds don’t mind a bit of a cuddle, do you?”
“Not at all,” Moneypenny said, smiling in a way that suggested she’d quite like to cut his brake lines.
“Unless there’s a reason you wanted to take the train, of course. If there is, just let me know, and I can drive you back to the station.”
“Well—“ Tanner began.
“No, no reason,” Moneypenny said. “I’m sure we’ll all enjoy the drive.”
“I know I will,” said Bond. He pulled up the music app on his phone, searched for the album entitled “Scotland: Bagpipe Classics,” and hit play.
Back in London, he dropped Tanner and Moneypenny in front of her building. Before they could walk away, however, Bond rolled down the driver’s side window.
“Moneypenny,” he called after her. “Why were you and Tanner really in Bath?”
She walked back to the car and bent down to look in the window. “You first. I want the truth, Bond. Were you really there for Q?”
“Yes, I was. I can promise you that.”
She studied him for a minute, before saying, “Then let’s just say we have a mutual interest.”
She turned and walked away, lifting a hand in farewell.
Two days later, Bond received a package in the mail. It was a small, narrow box wrapped in brown paper, addressed to Bond in Q’s unmistakeable handwriting, and bearing a postmark from Bath.
Inside the box was an elegant fountain pen, the same cloudy-grey color as the Aston Martin, with the initials ‘JHB’ engraved on it in a looping monogram.
It couldn’t be.
Bond examined the pen from every angle, taking care not to drop or shake it, even though surely Q wouldn’t have sent the pen through the Royal Mail if it contained explosives.
At least, Bond didn’t think.
He ran his fingers over the pen one more time, feeling for a catch or a hidden button, but aside from its beauty, the pen appeared to be unremarkable. Unless—yes. There it was.
There's no way I'd let you accidentally blow up Bond right before the end of this choose your own adventure, right? *OR WOULD I...???* 😁

Did someone think or write about a newtmas au Teen Beach Movie ? With
Thomas as Brady
Newt as Mack
Brenda as Lela
Teresa as Tanner
I don't know why my mind urge me to think about Teresa and Brenda as Lela and Tanner but it do. Either they love each other in the end and Thomas looks Newt and says " I knew that there were bisexual vibes in this show "
Or they have become bests friends and they look their gays boyfriends to go towards the sunset.
( I'm very sorry for the possibles grammatical mistakes in my English )

The work on display was juried by Liz Andrews, executive director of the Spelman College Museum of Fine Art.
ATHICA@CINÉ Gallery
“Familiar” — Photographs by Christy Bush.
Lyndon House Arts Center
“RE-, the Clarke County School District Student Art Exhibition” — Includes works by students from Kindergarten to 12th grade and media such as weaving, sculpture, photography, painting, drawing and collage. Also included are large collaborative works of art by classrooms and grades.
“A Pattern of Moments” — Featuring artwork by Kate Burke, Rebecca Kreisler and Sylvia Schaefer. The three artists share a feminized aesthetic sensibility and color palette, reflected in their chosen material: thread, folded paper and quilted fabric
“Bess Carter: Arts Center Choice Award Winner” — During each Annual Juried Exhibition, the Lyndon House Arts Center curator selects an artist with a compelling, yet unseen, body of work worthy of in-depth viewing for a solo exhibition in the North Gallery. Bess Carter, who teaches art at Oconee County High School, will share art inspired by her family and “everyday beautifully imperfect life.”
“The Same, Yet Separate” — J Taran Diamond is a metalsmith and interdisciplinary craft artist. Diamond creates intricate ornate objects inspired by historic artifacts that investigate anti-Blackness within the material culture of the American South.
“The Ties that Bind: The Paradox of Cultural Survival amid Climate Events: Works by Tamika Galanis and Anina Major” — This exhibition originated on St. Helena Island, South Carolina, during a residency in which artists examined cultural identity and sustainability through environmental relationships.
The Athenaeum
“Smooooooooooooooth Operator” — Brooklyn-based artist Kameelah Janan Rasheed presents a new exhibition that examines the poetics and power of machine learning. She questions computation, the role of the reader and ritual in “Smooooooooooooooth Operator,” which considers the menace of smoothness. We know what a smooth thing is; we’ve run our hand over a surface without noticeable projections or interruptions. Smoothing as a practice shows up in music via quantization and again in image processing via filters. Both are procedures of standardization and forced patterning by disregarding dirty data (or noise) in the service of fulfilling the audience’s expectations. Smooth viewing is easy viewing because the brain doesn’t have to second guess what it is looking at. Smooth images, smooth text make smooth, speed readers.
tiny ATH gallery
Peter Loose, "Places of Peace” — This exhibition is dedicated to the late and beloved artist Art Rosenbaum and centers on the work that Peter created the night he learned of Art’s passing. Birds have always been his inspiration.
Hotel Indigo, Athens
ArtWall@Hotel Indigo: Photography by Lucy Reback and Megan Reilly — These New York-based photographers have been living and working in Athens for the past two years. The artists, who are also a couple, have never exhibited collaboratively. These works span five years; some were taken before the couple met, and others are intimate vignettes of their relationship. The fragmented assemblage of their combined work reinterprets these memories, bending time to include the other in their past and articulate the present connection.
Glass Cube: “Aurora,” an installation by multimedia artist Zane Cochran featuring changing light and geometric lanterns based on occurrences of the Northern Lights. Open 24/7.
The Classic Center
The Classic Center galleries will be closed this Third Thursday due to an event in the space.
Third Thursday was established in 2012 to encourage attendance at Athens’ established art venues through coordination and co-promotion by the organizing entities. This schedule and venue locations and regular hours can be found at 3thurs.org.

In a last-ditch effort to save his career, sports agent JB Bernstein dreams up a wild game plan to find Major League Baseball’s next great pitcher from a pool of cricket players in India. He soon discovers two young men who can throw a fastball but know nothing about the game of baseball. Or America. It’s an incredible and touching journey that will change them all — especially JB, who learns valuable lessons about teamwork, commitment and family. Credits: TheMovieDb. Film Cast: J. B. Bernstein: Jon Hamm Tom House: Bill Paxton Brenda Paauwe: Lake Bell Rinku: Suraj Sharma Ash Vasudevan: Aasif Mandvi Dinesh: Madhur Mittal Amit: Pitobash Ray Arkin: Alan Arkin Lisette: Bar Paly Pete: Al Sapienza Chang: Tzi Ma Theresa: Allyn Rachel Indian Reporter: Ravi Naidu Hot Girl: Gabriela Lopez Basketball Player (uncredited): Tanner Anderson Scout: Tom Verducci Mark: Brett Zimmerman Film Crew: Editor: Tatiana S. Jon Hamm is a good choice to play lead character JB, he does carry the film with his performance. There are other pleasant performances though, Pitobash Tripathy (Amit) stands out most from those behind Hamm. Bill Paxton (Tom), Lake Bell (Brenda), Suraj Sharma (Rinku) and Madhur Mittal (Dinesh) merit props too. It’s a feel-good premise, one that is rather nice to see play out. The score is solid, as is the cinematography. It’s a positive that they spend a decent chunk of the film actually in India, I had a inkling they might’ve skipped it but thankfully they do not – they tell the story well. It’s probably Disneyfied in ways, but who cares. It isn’t anything necessarily special, but I certainly thoroughly enjoyed this. Recommended.

LIVINGSTON, Louisiana — A Louisiana man was sentenced to life in prison without parole after pleading guilty to first-degree murder charges Wednesday in the shooting deaths of five people, including his parents and girlfriend's father, in 2019.
Dakota Theriot was spared the death penalty in a plea agreement with prosecutors. The prison terms - five in all for each of the victims - will run concurrently.
Authorities in Louisiana have said Theriot provided a lot of information to investigators about how the killings unfolded, but a motive remained elusive.
In state court in Livingston Parish, Theriot, 24, pleaded guilty before District Judge Brenda B. Ricks in the killings of Summer Ernest, 20, who was Theriot's girlfriend; her 17-year-old brother, Tanner Ernest; and her father, Billy Ernest, 43, at a home outside of Walker, news outlets reported.
Later Wednesday in Ascension Parish, Theriot pleaded guilty before District Judge Jason Verdigets to two more counts of first-degree murder in the deaths of his parents, Keith and Elizabeth Theriot, both 50, prosecutors said.
Authorities have said Theriot was living with his girlfriend’s family when the shootings occurred in January 2019. After the Ernests were gunned down, Theriot took Billy Ernest's truck to Ascension Parish, where he was accused of shooting his father and stepmother at their home in Gonzales before fleeing to his grandmother’s home in Virginia, where he was captured.
Authorities in Louisiana have said Theriot provided a lot of information to investigators about how the killings unfolded, but a motive remained elusive.
District Attorney Scott Perrilloux noted that Theriot's extensive psychological records documented a history of mental illness.
“As in any decision made when resolving a case, consideration is given to the victims and their families, the community, and the legal and factual posture of the case in its entirety. The victims’ families have agreed with the defendant’s plea and sentence. We appreciate their patience and cooperation," Perrilloux said in a statement.
“Seeking the death penalty, although factually warranted, would lead to protracted and likely never-ending litigation for the victims’ families to endure,” he said. "After much review, discussion, and consideration, we felt this was the best outcome.”
Theriot’s trial was delayed for two years because of the COVID-19 pandemic.
