And so the hero falls, all glory and revenge striped in the briefest of moments, felled by a piercing arrow precise as if guided by the very hands of the Sun.
This one was a very fun one to do tbqh. The Fall of Achilles, after ‘The Fallen Angel’ by Cabanel, for a very dear friend! This baby can fit so many symbolisms, I’m very satisfied with the result! ´v` I hope you like as well!

I want a BrzRemus and MexJames fighting in there mother tongue. And they understand eachother.
I want FrSirius to chime in for no other reasons then chaos knowing that all the boys understood eachother, and just start confessing his love for Remus bc chaos.
So the arguing changes to a screaming match about Pokemon to James confessing his love for Lily and Remus confessing his love for chocolat Sirius. But still "arguing".
And so BrzRemus ,FrSirius and MexJames keep on "arguing" with no other purpose then to keep screaming at this point.
Arrive GrmPeter, he does not understand the move, except for Sirius cuz its basics for Sirius to be Sirius. But want to feel included so he start "arguing" too, Sirius style, with them, and scream about how lovly Marys hair was and how he would like to give her gifts bc she is awsome.
So in the common room we would find 4 radio boomboxes in Spanish, Brazilian/Prt, French and German on how much they love thier SO.

Do you have any original works that you hope to share one day? How does naruto inspire you and your writing?
So many original ideas and works in progress you have no idea. So many I want to complete and share one day for sure.
To be very honest I don't take much inspiration from Naruto as a series nowadays - shocking - there's just two things I keep in mind that I've always really liked about Naruto, 1. The characters, I always thought Kishimoto was really great at creating characters (using and developing all of them not so much, but how he comes up with designs and personalities is very fascinating) and 2. How he mixes folklore and mythology into his universe. I'm a huge mythology nerd and quite a few of my original works have myths and legends mixed with different plots and worlds (also a big thing for me to love about rwby). So that is something I like to remind myself and go back to.

Superstitions I've heard growing up in Brazil !
Don't whistle indoors or else you'll attract Saci Pererê (a prankster mythological being)
Don't open an umbrella indoors cuz it brings bad luck
Itchy palms mean money is coming your way
Ears red and hot mean someone is talking about you
Biting your own tongue while taking also means someone is talking about you
If someone swept your feet w a broom you won't ever get married
Don't point a finger at the moon or else a wart will grow on it (many pointed w their elbows lol)
Sun and rain = widow's wedding; Rain and sun = Spanish wedding.
Asking for the eldest person in the room for their blessing when arriving/leaving.
If someone offered to be your child's godmother/father you couldn't refuse or else it'd bring bad luck to u and the child.
Don't eat anything you find at a graveyard (offerings to the dead or trees w fruits).
Turn shoes around if they're w the sole facing upwards.
Placing a broom outside (like, leaning on the front door or close to it) will repel unwanted guests.
Don't walk under a stair, brings bad luck.
Hit the wood three times to un-jinx yourself, or to "unsay" stuff, as if to not attract whatever bad thing you said.
Eating grapes under a table during the new year's countdown (like, while it goes from Dec 31 to Jan 1), attracts a romantical partner.
Eating a plate of lentils while standing on a chair on this ^ same situation (attracts good luck).
Can't see the bride before the ceremony.
Jumping three waves during the new year's countdown.
Breaking a mirror brings 7 years of bad luck.
To find a lost object jump three times, and "São Longuinho" (a saint) will find it for you.
Don't toast w someone if your cup has an alcoholic drink and theirs don't, you risk having your wishes mixed up.
When getting out of bed in the morning, place your right foot on the ground first, for good luck.
Similarly, when entering a building, do so w your right foot, for the same reason.
7 years of bad luck to whoever kills a cat.
Make a wish when blowing your birthday's candle, but don't say it out loud, or else it won't become true.
Walking backwards brings bad luck.
Kids shouldn't jump over a window, or else they'll become thieves.

I was friendly reminded that O Boto Cor de Rosa is actually an insane concept.
So I'm sure most people here are familiar with the concept of "animal brides" in popular myths. Cool. So in Brazil this concept was translated into the Boto, now the animal itself has the same name and it's a big pink dolphim that is likely the least evil dolphim eve. On the legend tho...
Basically according to legend during certain nights the Boto would leave the water in the form of an extremely handsome man and go to balls to dance and seduce woman, leaving in the morning and being responsable for most if not all pregnancies outside of wedlock (or that were clearly not from the husband). He was just surpernaturally charming and sexy. That being said the Boto always uses a hat, because it still has the usual dolphim air hole. That dees mean that if the guy was too insistent on keeping his hat in bed you know for sure you got an absentee father in case of pregnancy.

I think the idea of Classics from the Antiquity being immaculate texts that wouldnt/shouldnt be affected by the new interpretations of the ages that are receiving them and contemporany retellings is contradictory to the concept of reception itself. Reception isnt just carefully constructing a narrative with a intelectual notion of the classical antiquity, Hercules from Disney is reception, Epic the musical is reception and even the tagammenon tag posts are reception, tropey or not, anachronistic or not
Absolutely, anachronism is a plague in all historical fields but i REALLY dont think it can be applied to retellings and literay reinterpretations of Aeneid or the Illiad or the Odissey (absolutely different from the academic context), because the greeks and romans HAD inequalities that can and should be pointed out and playfully recognized by storytelling because by messing and poking the Classics we deal with our own inequalities which are constantly justified by a theorical cultural heritage of the "West" to these societies.
These classical texts are good shit, good reading, but it is extremely important to recognize WHY those texts are seen in such a high regard, WHY greek and roman literature is so iconic and tradionally respected but not persian, chinese, native american, indigenous south american and so on. By ALREADY being respected in every aspect of the dominant culture, the greeks and romans can afford to be artistically put in anachrony that these other ancient societies cannot.
I think its very telling that most of people reading ops post already know the context of the Persephone myth from the Hymns to know WHAT these authors are trying to critique and desconstruct in these narratives. Sure, a lot of those suck ass but it doesnt change that reception can be tropey and pulpy and still have a deep connection to these narratives within our own historical way of telling stories which our systems of "western" culture are built upon
>looking for a new retelling of ancient myth
>ask the reviewers if the book is classical reception or modern tropification
>they don't understand
>i pull out a diagram explaining the difference between what engages with ancient sources and depictions of the story and what relies on reduction of the story to its most marketable aspects
>they laugh and say "it's a good retelling"
>read the book
>its tropification

If you wanted to know what Nora's answer is, Renee says she's Catholic in Son Nefes. I don't know if being born again is really a Catholic thing, but Renee's interpretation of her faith seems a little unconventional anyway: "Religion does seem a complicated brouhaha, doesn't it? To be honest, organized religion can feel a bit constricting at times. What is most important to me is faith itself—the ability to believe in good, redemption, and an afterlife. I like believing that we're not alone in this."
Oh thank you! This is how I out myself for never reading Son Nefes lol (I approach the EC very slowly bc it's huge and honestly just full of information I don't often care about)
I think most of my confusion does come from the fact that in the main trilogy she is called a Christian, because (at least on my experience) that's a word Protestants use way more often than Catholics. But I understand that, not having grown up in the church, Renee might not have that internalized bias towards protestantism.
I know that baptism names are a thing, but since I ditched cathecism halfway through bc my sister got locked in the church bathroom and then didn't want to go back and I would do it without her, most of my Catholic knowledge is pretty second-hand. But I'm gonna assume you can be a born again Catholic if only because that's the subtitle for the new Daredevil show
