I was friendly reminded that O Boto Cor de Rosa is actually an insane concept.

So I'm sure most people here are familiar with the concept of "animal brides" in popular myths. Cool. So in Brazil this concept was translated into the Boto, now the animal itself has the same name and it's a big pink dolphim that is likely the least evil dolphim eve. On the legend tho...

Basically according to legend during certain nights the Boto would leave the water in the form of an extremely handsome man and go to balls to dance and seduce woman, leaving in the morning and being responsable for most if not all pregnancies outside of wedlock (or that were clearly not from the husband). He was just surpernaturally charming and sexy. That being said the Boto always uses a hat, because it still has the usual dolphim air hole. That dees mean that if the guy was too insistent on keeping his hat in bed you know for sure you got an absentee father in case of pregnancy.

in Brazil we have a myth about boto cor de rosa (idk how to say boto in english but it's kind of like a dolphin [?] who lives in rivers, and he's pink), and it's about this animal who gets out of the river, turns into a handsome man, goes partying, cream pies someone and then disappear again, leaving the mother confused and unassisted :D

on the same note, there's also Loira do Banheiro (Toilet Blonde on the literal translation) who protects kids who are being bullied. u gotta turn the toilet lights off and flush, and she'll crawl out of the mirror and punish whomever is bullying who summoned her

I love folklore so much because depending on the location and era it comes from it's either the most terrifying concept or the dumbest thing you've ever heard

Here's one of my ocs that is the biggest lesbian I've ever made and I love her for it

Her full name is Mayara Da Silva Barbosa and she's the esper of Boto-cor-de-rosa(or pink dolphin in english). She also works for the esper union as a OP Chief

In Brazil, the legend of the pink dolphin says that this animal transforms into a very handsome, well-spoken and flirtatious man, wearing white clothes and shoes, as well as a hat. And goes looking for beautiful young women to seduce them. There are different versions of the legend, some saying that it transforms during any festival in riverside communities, and others that the transformation only happens on the full moon of June, during the festivities of Santo Antônio, São João and São Pedro.

I was originally planning to have her be a union scavenger but her color palette does not match the scavenger's dress code because of all the pink

The best way I can describe her personality is a mix between Fabrice and Lynn but twice as flirty and twice as sweet to women

She has a little cousin named Sofia who is under her custody because her parents went missing (and are presumed dead) after a brutal miramon attack in their hometown, Sofia is also a esper and she's a student at the union academy

Although she's really flirty, she'll immediately back off at the slightest sign of discomfort, because she loves women so much that just the thought of making them unconformable is enough to make her miserable

She can summon little spectral pink dolphins that follow her around and do stuff for her. She trained them to gather information for her, send out messages like carrier-pigeons and perform silly tricks to distract people.

On the left is the Dolphin Delighter, as in it is a magical talking fey "dolphin" that delights others. It likes to telepathically sing sea shanties and cause dazzling bursts of healing light. It also can teleport as it leaps, and is around 5-6 ft (1.5-1.8 m) long. As @valvadis pointed out, it seems likely that it's based on the Boto Cor De Rosa of Brazilian folklore. Shapeshifters that show up to parties, play music/dance/drink/fuck, and disappear into the night. Which does fit with the the "Fey" designation of the D&D version.

On the right, Hydroloth are 10 ft (3 m) tall frog fiends from the River Styx. They can turn invisible, cause madness, walk on water, cause magical fear, and are telepathic! They're also pretty chill, and are known for thier trading skills! Thier horrible trading skills, they're great at finding things but not at knowing thier value, so they often get scammed. They spend most of thier time trading, fighting, and just swimming around enjoying life.

and dont forget about boto cor de rosa/amazon river dolphin! or inia geoffrensis. its another species of river dolphin, the biggest one at that, present in rivers in Brasil and Bolivia

its become an integral part of brazilian folklore, with even festivals to celebrate it

I think it's sad that most people always think of bottlenoses as the "classic dolphin" since its the one that's always used for shows, and always think of dolphins as just straight grey when in reality there's so many varieties with so many different amazing patterns

Look at the common dolphin! They have a gorgeous X pattern and even some dull yellow/gold!!

Hourglass dolphins have gorgeous white streaks

Spinner dolphins have really pretty banding as well, AND they have a really sleek cute silhouette!

The atlantic spotted dolphin!!! Theyre spotted!!!!!!

Dusky dolphins have a gorgeous airbrush look going on like straight out of a 2000s fantasy illustration

Striped dolphins sure have stripes!! How cool!!
