Blood of the Covenant Final Snip
Since its the last chapter, this is the last snip until the chapter is posted!
"I think I should carry that," Martin spoke softly, gesturing across the table with all the strength of a soft breeze.
Jon could hear in it the distrust. Even if he had clung to Martin's frigid fingers with a determination that made his bones ache. Kept him anchored, kept him here...
Still, there was distrust. Or at least the knowledge that what may need done...John couldn't or wouldn't or... The same as the red cannister he had taken from John's hands, as the axe that might have saved their lives if that was ever what was actually at stake.

Thinking about the future kid au and Jamil!Yutu (help his tsum is so cute, i love the tsum events)
Like...you said Jamil! Yutu wishes he wasn't born so his dad wouldn't have been executed because some Asim relatives guilted him (desoite them being the ACTUAL reason he died)
Needless to say his relationship with his dad is complicated , but I can't stop thinking about Yutu being of two minds about his parents like "I'm gonna get in the way of your plans for the evening because I don't want either of you to get close and eventually die because of me" but also somehow everything he attempts doesn't work
Because Jamil isn't one to give up easily (none of the boys are) and he just- feels so much freer and happier than he ever has when he gets to trade snarky comments, silly puns and honest praise with Yuu. And he won't let this mysterious guy get ik the way of that, he pretends to enjoy his remaining years at NRC to the best of his ability thank you very much. Plus he's working on gaining his freedom and Yuu is his number one cheerleader at this don't tell Kalim tho he'll be sure to cranck up his enthusiasm if you do ofc he won't stop talking to them nor dreaming of what could be, it's all he has to avoid going mad
Yutu however is losing his mind because every time there's danger he gets reminded of his dad's corpse being dragged around and he keeps worrying this time his dad will die trying to protect Yuu from harm
Little does he know Jamil would rather give his life protecting Yuu than any Asim because that's his CHOICE and that's the person who chose HIM over everyone else. Cue Yutu recovering from the battle, looking around frantically for signs of either of his parents and seeing Yuu patching Jamil up, bantering lightly and sharing such soft looks. They look so happy despite their bruises and suddenly Yutu gets this nauseating feeling of dread because he can see why they fell in love, which means maybe he's too late to stop it now
And then Grim complains that he's hungry after the fight and they both share this look and Yutu gets the little sadness of "oh, this is what it would've been like"
Just- aaaaaaahhhhhhh this au is so good and so angsty but also I wanna add just a little bit of fluff for these poor boys (my original thought was of Yutu seeing his parents meeting in the town and following them to try to sabotage their not-date only to end up making each scenario more romantic until he gives up when they start dancing in the middle of nowhere and he recognizes the dance from when Yuu taught him many years ago)
Happy Birthday Jamil (so sorry this is late), the tsum part of this post really shows you how old it is I am so sorry. Jamil is a real cutie though, his birthday message this year is him thanking Yuu for being someone he can trust to give him something without having ulterior motives. Post OB! Jamil should have a special sort of respect for Yuu I think. He understands what it is like to have to care for someone who makes a lot of problems against your will, but maybe not that you could love that person in the way Yuu loves Grim. Lots to think about with JamilYuu, lots to think about... so this one gets to have two parts as well whoops.
notes: they/them used for Yuu, CW lots of self hatred and thoughts of death, body horror, major character death, bullying, and brief mention of suicide. This post features some o.c.s created by @archetypal-archivist for this ayuu. More information about the ayuu can be found here, here, and here. Masterlist can be found here
The early morning is a sacred time for your little family. When Yutu was little you would sneak into his room to make sure he was still asleep. He never was, he'd developed some sort of sixth sense for when his favorite person was home and would wait patiently snuggled into the red scarf he used as a security blanket to surprise you.
“Boo!” The scarf would go up in the air and you would let out an exaggerated gasp of surprise as your son giggled in manic delight. “I got you!”
“You got me!” He'd been little enough to lift up into the air then, you miss those days even though they were difficult.
Your son still “spooks” you when you come home in the morning. His former blanket has become a part of his wardrobe, and he's much too big for you to lift up over your head anymore but he's not pretending to be asleep anymore either.
“Boo!” Today Yutu has made some tomatoes and eggs, you think you smell coffee but that's not a smart thing for you to be drinking right now.
“Thank you, little light.” You settle down at your kitchen table and Yutu excitedly tells you about his plans for the day. When he does this you always feel lucky, as if you didn't expect him to be such a normal and happy child. As if there was something other than poverty and your illness that would hold him down and deny him any sense of self or success. Yutu has never felt like there is anything he cannot do so long as he tries, he's very ambitious, your little light. You've told him more than once you hope his spark never dims, that you are so proud of him for not letting his circumstances dictate his goals.
There's some relief in knowing you aren't here to see him hiding behind his scarf again. It would hurt you to see how fast he shrinks away from the lich descending from his throne, putrid rotting flesh assaulting his nose even through the silk guard. This is his fault, he can find no other logical explanation. You would disagree, he has no idea what the corpse in front of him would say, but neither of you lived to see what he has. He's not so full of himself that he thinks the world ended with his birth, but yours most certainly did.
Yutu is a smart and polite child, the sort of little boy who makes old ladies swoon and insist that his parents are so lucky to have him. That was a point of pride for him before arriving in Twisted Wonderland. He never had too many questions about his father, he could see he wasn't the only one of his peers who was being raised by a single parent which was enough reassurance for him. Maybe he'd meet his father one day, maybe he wouldn't. He was much more concerned with making friends and learning everything he could.
He loves school in general, but his favorite subject is the stars. It starts with him trying to amuse himself while waiting for you to come home from work and evolves into a hobby as he gets older. His first proper expensive present is a refurbished telescope you spent a lot of time researching and asking questions about. That's the first chip at his self confidence when he's alone in Twisted Wonderland; you worked so hard for that gift and he didn't bring it with him. Sure, he didn't know what was happening but he knew something was off. He should have grabbed it and kept it close…
Star gazing isn't his only hobby, he really likes cooking and experimenting with coffee. He took up cooking because he was tired of waiting for you to come home and make food and expected it to be boring but there's something fulfilling about eating food you've made yourself he really likes. The fact it makes him more attractive to his classmates is not something he thinks about at all, not one little bit. You've never found him making extra food for a particular “friend” with a familiar determined smirk on his face. “Your father used to do the same thing.” You say it absentmindedly, the look of embarrassment you're met with is also quite similar. “Not. Another. Word.”
Money is tight, but Yutu still finds ways to participate in extracurricular activities. He wants them on his college applications, sure, but he also wants friends, his own little group of people who won't care too much about his parent's reputation. Cooking club and drama class end up being his home base, you've got an unwilling front row seat to so much pointless highschool drama it gives you a headache. He likes playing pickup basketball with his friends but joining the team isn't something he got a chance to do before getting isekaid.
The little bits and pieces you remember about his father make him out to be extremely normal. You remember his favorite food, that he liked cooking and playing basketball. You tell your son he takes after his father in how talented he is; Yutu is proud to be like his father, he assumes that he will get the full story from you someday. Maybe his dad died, maybe you never told him that he was going to be a father out of fear and never got a chance because you lost your memories in a tragic accident. Either way, Yutu is sure that one day he will find out who his father is and he'll be able to help you reconcile your relationship, whether it's by processing his death or reconnecting your friendship.
There's nothing particularly special about the day you remember. He felt like trying something new with his hair and you had offered to turn his scarf into a turban, memories of fireworks sparking your hands into motion while Yutu tells you about what his teacher wants the school play to be this year.
“Careful!” Yutu whines as you pull his hair through the cloth.
“I am being very careful.” You laugh, the look on Yutu's face is familiar. Just like... “Jamil bought this for me, you know.”
“Jamil?” Yutu has never heard that name before, but he can tell it's important. He's never heard you sound so tender before.
“I think we were joking about push presents and he was offended thinking he had to wait until you were born to get me something nice.” There was meant to be a matching piece of jewelry with Yutu's birthstone he thought you didn't know about, but then… how could you have forgotten that? You were going to make fun of him for how sloppy Yutu's birth was making him. He was losing his touch, the old Jamil never would have been so obvious with a surprise.
“Is that such a bad thing? You're giving me a gift.” Jamil is looking up at you confused, but it's not Jamil, it's your son. Your little light who- "You look so much like him." Your hand shakes, the world around you fades to black and Yutu begins to scramble.
~~~~
When Yutu opens his eyes he's in a dark room in front of a mirror with a mask hovering in a sea of green flame, there is noise buzzing around him that must be conversation, but try as he might he can't reign himself back into focus. You are still, eyes glassy and unresponsive to his calls. There is a man shaking him, trying to pull him to his feet as he calls for... the word he uses is healer and that allows Yutu to settle himself. "... a healer and take Yuu to the hospital wing immediately!" The Headmage snaps and a woman with brown hair immediately bolts to obey. The person next to her reaches out, but does not follow; the boy's presence is throwing cold water over a particular part of the crowd they would be wise to keep watch over. That isn't the right word so Yutu must be dreaming, he gives the man in the fur coat his attention and obeys, stepping forward to allow the mirror to judge his soul.
"Scarabia." If Yutu was not so convinced he was dreaming he would notice the way the person who approaches him looks, the meaning behind the fur coat's insistence he stay put and wait for him in the mirror chamber. But he does not. So when that person extends their hand, welcomes him to Scarabia and asks him to follow he thinks nothing of it. This is all a bad dream, you will shake him awake and tell him more about Jamil.
Not that he really needs to wait.
The first hit is a slap, the second is a basic fire spell but he doesn't know that when it sears his skin. He doesn't even know why these students are so angry, doesn't recognize his own last name he just thinks the word Viper is being used as an insult. When smoke begins to surround him he assumes the other students have decided to stop toying with him. He's going to die. He just found out his father's name, magic is real, other worlds are real, you are dead. You are dead and there's a foul smelling smoke around him; he's never really thought about what it would be like to die but Yutu finds himself surprisingly calm. "We'll be together soon, [parent]... father are you waiting too?"
"I would hate to waste a necklace on the likes of you." An authoritative voice cuts through the smoke, Yutu recognizes this person as his attackers scatter. The strange one who tried to stop the woman who ran off after the man in the fur coat spoke. They are wearing a lot of jewelry, necklaces and bracelets with strange symbols that seem to thrum with power in a way that sends a shiver down his spine. A rueful smile crosses their lips for a brief second. "Not that it would be a waste of course." Their focus turns to the cause of the smoke, a kerchief they give one more good shake before tucking it back into a pouch with even more strange necklaces wrapped around it.
"Where am I?" Yutu sounds so small, he curses himself silently for it but how else is he supposed to feel when the mysterious stranger looks at him with so much pity?
"Exactly where you belong." They say with authority, as if they are attempting to shut out any doubts before they can form. "But, as much as it shames me to suggest it, that might not be the safest place for you right now."
Misbah is how this person introduces themselves. Their friend, who is beyond stressed to see Yutu so disheveled and insists on healing him before allowing him to see you, is named Sehrish. Explanations can wait until Yutu has had time to say his goodbyes, but the look the older students exchange when you ask them to make sure your son isn't treated like Jamil once was tells him there must be a lot of them. Of the three adults, no one agrees how to give him those explanations either. The only thing they do agree on is that it is unsafe for him to be in Scarabia right now, but there won't be a problem with Ramshackle Dorm even if it's name suggests to Yutu that there really probably should be.
Crewel takes him there, explaining along the way who he is and what he was to you; a professor turned reluctant mentor who cared very deeply about Yuu and Jamil's future. He's reluctant to think of himself as a grandfather, he's just not that old he insists and Yutu laughs just the little bit, but if Yutu has questions about Yuu and your time at the school he is more than welcome to ask. On his father he doesn't say much, simply that he is dead. Murdered actually, but the use of that word is complicated by the circumstances of it so Crewel does not suggest Yutu speak of his family to anyone other than Misbah and Sehrish. Yutu learns, later much later, that Crewel didn't wish to traumatize him further. That he wished to take his time in explaining things. A good idea, but no one that realistically was going to work.
Ramshackle Dorm is unlike the other dormitories at NRC, all the students save him are magicless exactly like his parent. They all know a lot about his parent too, much to his surprise you are something of an idol to these people. None of them mind that he can use magic, it's just neat to be able to talk about the magicless prefect with someone who also thinks they're super cool; some of them have family or family friends that went to NRC while you were here and saw how you handled the overblots, others learned of you when they came here as refugees and were offered a place in the program. "Ramshackle is for misfits and outcasts!" A particularly messy third year proudly tells him when he asks him why they don't mind. Yutu doesn't really know how to feel about that. He never manages to figure it out.
Sehrish is a graduate student and Misbah is a fourth year, which as Misbah explains to him means they spend most of their time "in the field." They wished to say everything from the start, Sehrish wanted to explain herself and her family but did not think herself qualified to say anything more. Was uncertain of how her story would make him feel, afraid of it. The Scalding Sands is their primary focus, that would have been his homeland too had Yuu not been disappeared. Currently it is under the rule of a phantom of the Sorcerer of the Sands, one of the Great Seven Yutu will learn about as his classes progress. Misbah does not hesitate to tell him that this phantom once possessed his father when he was a student, and it is believed that this time it is possessing his corpse. It's a thought that sickens Yutu, how could this have happened? And why?
The why is explained to him in parts. Sehrish starts with the history of the Al-Asims, of the city they helped to build and the relationship between her family and his. She describes his father's burning resentment of his station matter-of-factly. His father was a servant from a well liked and respected family, but that reputation came at a cost. The respect was not for him or his talents, it was for how well he served his master and it drove him mad. The desire for freedom and recognition transformed into a phantom, his parent had fought against it and seen it defeated but somehow it had returned to rule over the Scalding Sands.
Overblotting is something Yutu thinks he has begun to understand, his professors have focused on it heavily so he knows what a phantom is. He's even seen a few small ones, but a phantom large enough to rule over a kingdom resembling one of the Great Seven is... frightening. The other students are all more or less aware of their existence and Sehrish takes the rest of her time to explain where and who the other Phantoms used to be. "We don't know why this happened." But people have theories. There is a timeline he learns from other students whispering behind his back, how his parent disappeared and then suddenly Kalim Al-Asim was murdered.
The living Al-Asims aren't at NRC, there is a rival school across the Island where they chose to stay. They don't speak to Sehrish, the only people he can speak to with any level of authority are the one or two older servants who worked with his grandparents. They speak fondly of the Viper family, though of Jamil they offer little specifics. Murder is again the word used for what happened to him, quietly after looking over their shoulder. Yutu had an Aunt named Najma. She was lively, talked about Jamil's business and constantly made fun of him while being proud of his accomplishments. The Vipers were an honorable family. They didn't want trouble. Did not want to rock the boat. But his father must have otherwise he wouldn't have wanted to overblot...
Yutu wasn't quiet before Twisted Wonderland. He thought of himself as outgoing, you would be so sad to see how small his friend circle has gotten. As time passes, as he fights smaller phantoms, ventures into the Queendom on his first real mission, as he looks in the mirror and realizes he has scars now. His scarf has protective sygils embroidered by Misbah to repair the holes, he's met a merman with pointed teeth who mixed him a drink and told him a story about his father that made him sound... human in a way that scared him out of asking for more.
Yutu has seen what his father became, looked a rotting corpse into what remained of it's eyes and listened to it try to speak with a windpipe welded together by ink. The lich sorcerer of the sands is his father. Yutu has spent enough time listening to his Ramshackle dormmates explain their medical studies to see he died young; there are traces of poisons in the hairs he returns to Idia that make even him shudder. He will never get the full story, never get more from his classmates or the Al Asim representative he meets when returning Kalim's body about how this happened. Just that it was deserved, that none of this would have happened if Jamil had known his place and never obtained his freedom. That isn't something Yutu can bring himself to agree with. His father had every right to want the same say in his life that you had worked so hard to give him, and you...
If you asked Yutu when he started feeling like he did not deserve to exist, he wouldn't be able to give you a specific answer. He certainly never felt like he didn't belong in your world, the general sense of disbelonging he felt he always attributed to his ignorance of his father's identity. But that was a fixable problem, he so firmly believed he would one day get to meet his dad and other family and then all those burning cultural questions would be patched up. But Twisted Wonderland was another matter entirely, the harsh welcome made him feel unwanted even if the Ramshackle students went out of their way to try and mitigate that. But all of that acceptance, all of that love was tied to you. The living Al Asims looked at him and saw a pest, expected him to show deference and repent for his father's misdeeds, while the older servants saw a tragedy. A child so fondly spoken of and wished for but doomed to wander in a broken world none of them expected to survive. Either way, the only message Twisted Wonderland had to offer him was one of rejection. Whenever he made up his mind, by the time he made it to the past and was settled into your version of Ramshackle Dorm he was determined to keep you from making the mistake of staying with his father.
PLEASE tell us more about your vampwolf au
i WILL!
First of all, the main purpose of this au is to have fun imagining vampire!martin and werewolf!jon and secrets/newly discovered abilities. so the details are very vague unless i could come up with something i found interesting
Elias is a centuries-old vampire who runs the Institute partly because he wants to gather and keep knowledge on the supernatural, partly as his personal bloodbank (shamelessly stole this idea from this fic). The supernatural is, just like in tma, not believed in outside of specific circles. Vampires are more or less typical; need to drink human blood every so often, can't go in sunlight, can turn into bats, can make thralls. New vampires are supernaturally bound to the one who made them.
Somewhere in the latter half of the 1900s, Elias turns Martin. Martin half-knew what he was getting into, but he did it to help his mom and he was lonely enough that he didnt particularly care about the consequences. Idk what Elias specifically hoped to get out of it - perhaps his previous lackey died and he just neede someone new to do his dirty work.
After Martin becomes a vampire, it becomes clear that he's quite talented at doing subtle short-term thralls on humans. A useful skill, Elias decides to keep him around for that as well, and sticks him in the basement as the archivist, which isn't a specific role in this au - just an excuse so that Martin doesn't see the sunlight. He's not allowed to snack from the Institute's employees, he's got to source his own blood. Basically Martin's life sucks and the only fun he gets is messing up the organization of the old files that get sent down.
This next part is a lot vaguer but maybe Elias wants to experiment with different combinations of supernatural creatures - there's quite a few that are born out of humans, and what if you could stack the effects somehow! and what if he could control whatever monster results from it by making them his vampire! but the problem is, as soon as someone becomes a vampire, their body stops changing, so no new supernatural abilities can stack. So he needs to keep his experiment bound to him with more normal, capitalist means until they're done cooking. or maybe he has a cursed contract for employees, idk
IN ANY CASE researcher Jon is investigating some odd deaths around the Lukas' estate. Other employees tell him to stay away from that place, it's not worth it, and Elias is like "oh nooo Jon definitely don't do a stake-out at their mansion during the full moon ;)"
Obviously the Lukasses are werewolves (they're lone wolves lol) and when Peter spots one of Elias' guys around his home, he decides to make an example of him. He attacks Jon in his car, drags him out, nearly chomps his leg off, leaves him for dead on the grounds.
Martin is sent by Elias to go and save Jon, and he can't really refuse, so off he goes. He drives a half-conscious Jon back to London and drops him off at the hospital, making sure to mind-control the people he meets into believing that Jon had come there alone. As soon as it seems like Jon won't die, he leaves.
Jon recovers in the hospital, needing to walk with crutches for a while after, but he goes back to work. because now he has a new mystery to chase: who saved him? He had lost a lot of blood by that point and he's not great with faces so he doesn't recognize Martin, but he knows there was someone there, he couldn't have driven himself back, especially with his leg. Despite this obvious truth, somehow all the nurses are convinced he came there by himself? he needs to figure this out. Also, for some reason he keeps having to shave a lot more often and craving rare steaks for dinner, but surely that's nothing.
Meanwhile Elias is happy that he's now got a werewolf who's already tied to the institute, and sticks Jon together with Martin in the basement so his vampire can keep an eye on his wolfy, make sure that Jon doesn't die while he goes poking around at other supernatural creatures as he tries to find out what happened that night, or that he doesn't kill someone and get sent to jail come next full moon. Set-up, done.
After that, I don't have a very strict idea. I think it'd be fun if Leitner (or someone like him) does his thing where he nearly threatens to tell Jon about Elias' plans for him, and Eliase has to kill him - except he lets Martin do it in the classic vampire style, so Jon can walk in on him as he sucks the lifeforce out of Leitner. Extra fun if Jon hadn't put together that Martin is a vampire yet.
Jon flees and goes to Georgie who's like 'oh yeah werewolves are real nbd'. Then, the most tragic part of this au kicks in....
as a werewolf, the Admiral is instinctively scared of Jon 😔
#tma#somewhere in there Jon finds out that he's now a werewolf and has the worst time of it#but in a fun way :)#the magnus archives#tma s4#jonathan sims#tma vampwolf au#martin blackwood#elias bouchard#i cant decide how serious i want the threat of vamp and werewolf bloodlust to be. on the one hand angst. on the other fluff.#but since im not doing anything else with this au i dont actually have to decide#tma au#joos yaps#gammijart#ish#ask#anonymous#anon
“hi can i get uh cheeseburger a diet coke a small coke a hamburger with no pi–”
“sir this is jmart, not macmagnus, we don't serve fastfood.”
“awful service, you are violating my rights. i want to speak with your manager.”
“sir, i am the manager.”
I was talking to my roommate about the Magnus Archives and accidentally came up with a kinda hilarious au idea.
So JonMartin is often shortened to Jmart which I thought kinda sounded like a shop they would own together or something.
So, hear me out, JonMartin au where they own a store called Jmart and all the avatars are just these really weird and awful customers that the store just seems to mysteriously attract. Tim and Sasha would be employees obviously lol.
#tma au#the magnus archives#the archivist but#the manager#he was born to do this it's not a job a job no more this is his fate
we as a society need to embrace cringe and make FANKIDS
the usual information under the cut
at first Yvie and Juno were meant to be different AUs but actually.. travcindalyn should kind of be a polycule so they can be interpreted either way
they would've both been taught witchcraft, Yvie (eevee) is more interested in travel and writing so she becomes a magick archivist, Juno is more interested in traditional witchcraft like Lucinda so he's a practicing warlock
Morgan the any pronouns genderqueer legend, a musician, they were born to have insane rizz
Kenmalyn daughters! nothing bad happens here. Elisabeth likes the quiet life and takes care of her mom's library. Annabella prefers inventing, she's been mentored by both her dad and Chad
Dmitri and Nekoette Neneko are also here since they count as next gen though I did not make them
woe, bonus material
#can you tell I have a favorite#minecraft diaries#my art#mcd oc#tagging the pairings in case anyone is confused#travlyn#katecinda#garrance#kenmalyn#dorry i became really invested in this next gen timeline so you will see more of this#which means i should probably make a tag for it#mcd next gen
losers crime org au,,,
eddie: the getaway driver. he spends his free time working on vintage cars that they’ve stolen when the owners die. drives like an absolute maniac but he gets them where they need to go and fast, and he’s never once left someone behind even if they’re cutting it down to the wire because he knows he can make it.
stan: the attorney, the acceptable face of the organization. most of the work they do isn’t exactly above board, but stan knows the law front and back and can get them out of any scrape. can usually be found cleaning up richie’s messes.
ben: the architect. always learns the layout for the places they go until he could walk through the place with his eyes closed. he knows where all of the security cameras are, every guard post, and almost instinctively knows when there’s a change that they didn’t see coming.
richie: the guy in the chair. he’s insanely smart (the losers do the cliche “in english!” w him all the time). he sometimes gets too cocky and almost gives them away. is always tinkering with some gadget (think mission impossible). they have quite literally blown up in his face before. his eyebrows are very patchy.
mike: the archivist. he keeps meticulous records of everywhere they’ve been, everywhere they want to go. he does the deep research, gets the blueprints for ben, knows everyone involved. maintains inventory and is essentially their weapons manager. he knows how to handle anything and everything.
bev: the decoy, the fighter. bev’s good at making herself invisible—or being the most noticeable person in the room. she’s an absolute chameleon. she’s also the most professionally-trained martial fighter out of all of them—the others know basic defense (even richie, who’s rarely out in the field) but bev blends together five different fighting styles at any given moment to be the most effective and deadly killer.
bill: the leader. he was born into this life and he’ll die in it, too. he decides their next target, coordinates where everyone goes, and keeps tabs on everyone. he has connections everywhere, and the money to keep them close to his chest. all of his work is leading up to one goal that not even the others know about: finding and killing the man who took his little brother’s life.
SG TFOne Fanfic
Hallo, participating in this by dragonsgirl572 because it looked really cool and also to help myself practice writing Transformers fanfic since I don't know a lot about Transformers (like I'm still learning some terms and some of the characters). I won't be able to participate everyday but I will try my best.
Day 3's prompt was Sickfic. To be honest, this is only kinda a sickfic? I mean there's someone getting sick, but not really that focused on... But yeah, it's my attempt at Sickfic.
Also, this is like a Shattered Glass Transformers One AU, so Orion here isn't exactly the kind Orion from the movie. Although, I did reference some stuff from the other Shattered Glass continuities.
Orion Pax had always held a grudge against Sentinel Prime.
Most miners did, he was hardly unique in that. Some nights, while most would be lost in the peace of recharge, he would lay on his berth wondering what he could have been - what he could still be if given the chance. He was more than just a miner. One day, he’ll show everyone in Iacon that he was more.
—
Optimus Prime will always hate Sentinel Prime. Even after the bot’s death.
It wasn’t always like that. It had been a grudge. A small one.
Then came the three strikes.
—
The first strike was the realization that he was nothing. That in a city of shimmering metal, Cybertronians like him were never meant to see that light, relegated to the darkness of the mines - meant to die for the good of everyone.
He didn’t have a T-Cog.
He was worthless.
It didn’t matter that he had dreams. That he wanted more. If he could choose, he would wish to be an archivist, to read to his heart’s content and understand the history of Cybertron.
But he was born without a T-Cog.
And so he was born worthless.
—
The second strike was a surprise even to him.
He hadn’t really meant to. His friendship with D-16 was only supposed to last until he got bored. The bot had been interesting. Megatronus poster. Notes about technologies he dreamed of inventing one day. Combined with a subservient personality that amused him. How could a bot who looked up to the idea of justice and had dreams ever look up to Sentinel Prime?
D-16 should have been nothing to him.
Yet, when Dee contracted a virus from the old energon mines and was out of commission for nearly an orbital cycle, he had nearly lost it.
He would have stayed by Dee’s side, but a miner had no right to waste a single second.
When Dee came back, he had been put to work immediately.
Dee had only smiled when Pax ranted on his behalf. Dee had said, “Sentinel Prime continues to search for the Matrix of Leadership. This is the least I could do until then.”
A sickness began to fester. A hatred that would consume him, with no cure in sight.
—
The third strike…
Well, we all know the story of how Orion Pax died…
And how Optimus Prime came to be.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Just some notes!
Orion Pax wanting to be an archivist is based off of the fact that in some iterations he was an archivist, plus in the movie he was going through like the archives.
Dee having dreams about inventing is sorta a reference to him being a mathematics professor in the Shattered Glass iteration and that he created transforming technology in one of the SG iterations.
Hey!! I've been skittering(heh) around the shadows reading up on your lore(so interesting btw) and i just thought of a pretty cool "what if" when reading up on my favorite web serial.
How would The Archivist react to The God Parasites? The Worms? The Space Whales? The Entities from Worm by Wildbow? I would assume it would be like with the Titans, try to eradicate them since they are a threat to their mission.
Something both fun and frustrating about running the AU is hearing about lot of cool things that share its vibe or setting but not having enough time to get into them —so I don’t know much about the critters involved, YET
That said, their behavior and impact on the universe would matter a lot. Are they living creatures, or are they beings born from magic like them? Are they an active threat to the Archive, the planets, or just doing their own thing?
There are magical beings they don’t interfere with, but if it’s one that could take out one of them or lose them active planets, they might decide on the Titan approach. Maybe they could be reasoned with or pacified instead. Curator, is ruthless when it comes to threats to the Archive, so opinions might be divided until the situation unfolds
Oi, lonelyeyes fans look at 👀what I’m working on!
Working Title: ~Who’s afraid of Jonah Magnus❓~
Fandom: The magnus archives.
Characters: Jonathan Sims, Elias Bouchard, Martin Blackwood, Peter Lukas... othere?
Pairings: Jonathan Sims/Martin Blackwood, Peter Lukas/Elias Bouchard..
Chapter: 1? Or part of chapter one
Genre: humor, AU?, freeform,
Summary: Elias invites Jon and Martin to his flat for a dinner party with his husband Peter and others? (season three free form AU what ever) It's going to be a toxic trainwreck, that Jon and Martin get roped into....
Dedication: To my tumblr friends @beheldandcompelled @syrupwit @klm-zoflorr @horseboneologist @lasalebete @nazguldivorce @hisshex
Enjoy this roughest of rough draft WIPs!
Elias was already inside the lift smirking lazily. Jon sighed, Jon could take the stairs to the library, but that would be weird if he just turned around and left. So he stepped inside.
“Hello Archivist,” Elias said warmly. “I wanted to talk to you.”
“Oh?” Jon grumbled.
“Yes, I see that you and Martin have been dating,” Elias added.
Jon furrowed his brow: “It’s just been for a month, it’s not interfering with our work.”
Jon and Martin hadn’t told anyone they were dating, but he knew Elias could just see it.
Elias smiled wider: “No, No, I meant to congratulate you.. both of you. A little romance isn’t a bad thing… sometimes. And I wanted to invite you and your boyfriend Martin to a little dinner party I'm having with my husband Peter and maybe a few others.”
“You’re married?” Jon asked.
“Yes,” Elias countered. “Now it’s going to be next Thursday night at our flat at around 1800. I’ll text you the details.”
“I can’t… I mean we can’t say no can we?” Jon said.
“Do you think that’s wise?” Elias continued grinning.
“Fine... fine I’ll talk to Martin, I’ll see you next Thursday evening?” Jon grumbled.
The lift dinged and Elias got out: “Excellent, see you both there.”
~~~~
It was lunch time when Jon finally got to talk to Martin. Lately Martin had been packing them both lunches, which was good because Jon always had the issue of never really knowing when he was hungry, even before he was the Archivist. Besides, Martin loved to dote on Jon, packing both of them bento boxes, with the care of a Japanese Mother making them for her first born son. Martin had been doing this for two months, swooping into Jon’s office and putting the bento box in front of him, they usually ate together at Jon’s desk. Today there was tabbouleh, an egg and cress sandwich and a bit of battenberg cake Jon assumed was factory made. All neatly put together in their little compartments. Jon had finished the tabbouleh when he decided to broach the subject:
“Martin errrm, Elias knows,” Jon said.
Martin turned bright red: “About us?”
“Yes.” Jon sighed wearily.
Martin took a bite of his egg and cress and looked away. “We can’t end this just because he doesn’t want us dating.”
Jon smiled: “No, no he’s happy for us. In fact he wants us to go to his awful flat for a dinner party with his awful husband and awful friends. At the time I said yes… but if you don’t want to.”
Martin smiled: “Actually I do, c’mon Jon it’s the perfect opportunity for me to dig up some dirt on him and his husband.”
“Won’t he notice?” Jon asked cautiously.
“Doubt it, if he’s hosting a dinner party he’ll be too busy thinking about whether the rolls are burning or if it’s too soon to bring out the roast,” Martin said. “I’ll just excuse myself to go to loo and…”
Jon grinned: “Alright if you say you.”
“So when is it?” Martin asked.
“He’s going to text me the details, but it’s Thursday night.” Jon said.
“Right, I’ll be there with my hair in a braid,” Martin beamed.
“…you’re not actually going to—“ Jon began.
“Jon, it’s just an expression.” Martin replied.
“Right, right…” Jon grinned and took a bite of his own egg and cress.

Blood of the Covenant Snippet
John is doing so great right now, its unbelievable.
The memories of his own anger were distant. Like they had belonged to someone else; someone who did not inhabit this body or this place or the house he had inhabited like a ghost the last few days. He wondered, in his own amusement, recalling a thousand conversations as a child he had with Elias about ghosts and what they studied here. He could see even now that deep wrinkle in Elias forehead that had shown every time, the placid tone as he reiterated that they studied far more than ghosts.
John wondered now if ghosts were solitary creatures. If they, like him, wandered alone in the places they had died. Dodging creaking floorboards and places that swept them up in their bad memories of the last place they would inhabit. He wondered if ghosts still felt like they were home.

current tmagp theories
So my thoughts are:
ERROR is a TMP archivist (a universe where a woman was head archivist!)
the last time we saw Celia she was in a cult, and the first person she seems to have met in tmagp is Georgie (the au version of one of the cult leaders). I love Celia, I don’t trust her.
TMP Jon and Martin, if they were born at the same time as TMA Jon and Martin (and all the other characters are the ages we would expect them to be if that were the case), then they were a) the same age as many of the Magnus Institute’s children candidates and b) died around age 18.
What if they were Magnus Institute children? What if they were experimented on? What if they died aged exactly 18 (at adulthood)? What if only their bodies died?
What if we still haven’t met TMA Jon and Martin yet?

hello gay people. i mentioned awhile back about a possible concept for a tma au but its mixed with mythology/religion based stuff. i have since finished this chunk of concept/reference art of the Ceaseless Watcher for this au!!!
im dubbing it: The Magnus Mythos!! please talk to me about it i am insane
putting my rambling au nonsense under the readmore!!!!!
edit!!!: new mythos post just dropped :3
alright- bare with me because my thoughts are everywhere lol
random various au information:
the fear entites are instead more general gods, much like those from various mythologies (greek, norse, egyption, etc.) like the eye, rather than an entity that feeds on the fear of being watched, is rather the god of knowledge and sight!
all of the gods have influence over the world, some mortals will devote themselves to one specific god entirely, others will become devout to multiple, and some will simply be neutral among all 14 and live life out as they please.
avatars are mortals who have been blessed with power by the gods while creatures (like mr spider, the not them, etc) are simply beings who have been born into the world by the gods power seeping into it. artifacts are items that have either been blessed/cursed by the gods or avatars, or have been affected by the gods power seeping into the world also.
theres multiple sects, cults, and churches for each god much like how many real life religions have different sects with their own rules and standards. some have beef, others do not.
the gods themselves are entirely morally neutral, they have their own interconnected relationships with eachother, and kind of view mortals as pets in a way, picking favorites and seeing them as of lesser importance in comparison to themselves.
since the gods here arent necessarily evil and theyre actually sentient beings, their titles are changed to be more fitting (the mother of puppets -> the mother of fate as an example)
the story is set in an era resembling the early 1900s because idk. vibes are neat i guess
thats all the basic world building crumbs for now, ill go deeper into it when i have more art and story stuff ready!
for now- heres some actual lore :3c
Jonah magnus is basically eye jesus. thousands of years prior to the start of the story, the eye favored him and he became a messiah of sorts.
the House of Magnus is a church sect of the eye founded in what is now london. but it doesnt operate JUST as a simple church. many sects of the eye devote themselves to gaining knowledge of the world around them and the House of Magnus is no different there. operating with a library, research centre and all. the research not just on history and knowledge, but also the holy and divine. documenting stories that deal with the divine powers and researching cursed/blessed artifacts aswell.
its a common legend that if one tells their story under the eyes watch (either in a church of the eye or directly to an avatar of the eye) that theyll receive good fortune and foresight, and since the House of Magnus has become a well known sect of the eye, many will come far and wide to detail their accounts under its roof
all of this documentation leads down to the Magnus Mythos, a large archive under the church where the written documents are filed, curated and cared for by the head Archivist. as such, the position of Archivist has become a most sacred role among worshippers of the eye comparable to the head of the church itself.
they arent just revered for their care of the mythos (though the devotees of the eye view the care of documented knowledge to be a sacred and ever important responsibility) Theres a prophecy, hand woven by the Mother of Fate herself, one that states an ordinary archivist will one day be gifted by all 14 of the gods and awaken the great change, bringing about a new and blessed age.
but is this newest archivist even ready for such pressure and commitment? and what if the prophecy is more devious than one might think?
oooOOOOoooOO mysterious lore- i know this is heavily self indulgent but i refuse to apologize for that because im havin FUN. if you read all of that just know i love you so much and i hope you liked it ;w; im very excited and ive been working on archivist +archival assistant lore for the past few days and im excited to do art for them ;_;

I kinda wanna hear more about Azul! Yutu if you are willing
Very. He is long overdue for a proper post. I'm going to skip over some of the stuff that happens while he is in the bad future as I am a big fan of what Archivist has been writing, and would encourage you to look at their posts (here, here, and here) They've been a huge inspiration for this ayuu and finally gave Yutu some friends! I am really really attached to them and their dynamics with the various Yutus and might have written some stuff where they hang out but didn't post it because idk if you folks would be interested...
notes: they/them used for Yuu, for context on the fyuuture kid au can be found here and here. You can find even more stuff for it on my masterlist under the series section.
Yuu started removing mirrors from the house when he was around nine. They did so slowly, and Yutu had been avoiding them for so long he barely notices when their gone. It's not like he was born hating himself, he remembers playing with Yuu in the garden hose or the bath tub and feeling... happy. But that was when he was a little kid, he's almost double digits now he shouldn't be feeling sick to his stomach about this. It feels hard to walk some days, like his balance is wrong and his body is made of the incorrect material. It isn't normal for a kid this young to hate his own bones because it is the bones isn't it? They're hard until their not hard enough and he's stuck in a cast for the summer. Yutu tries to be grateful it's on his arm and not his leg, but it doesn't keep his mind off of things. He feels unwhole every time he tries to walk, and he has no words to express what's missing other than to say he feels unsafe. And it's hard to say that when he knows there's no solution you can give him for what he's feeling. If you could cut off your own limbs to make him whole you would, but then that would leave him just as alone wouldn't it? The last cost Yutu wants to pay to fix himself is the life of parent who loves him.
But that's what the price ends up being. And as he lays there trying to scream only to be rejected by the air he'd spent so much time wasting as his body churns on the floor into the form he'd spent so much time dreaming of he has to wonder why he ever thought the outcome would be different. He should have known that he was never meant to be anything other than alone.
Yutu was a chunky baby, and for the first bit of his life no one minded that at all. He was so cute, Yuu had a bunch of pictures of their precious baby boy and even though there were questions about how he came to be those were sort of shoved to the side in favor of cooing over his cute nose and chubby cheeks. But the cooing turned to concern when he started having some problems reaching his developmental milestones; it took forever for him to learn how to walk, even when Yuu helped guide him through the motions it somehow just didn't seem to stick. Talking was difficult, he'd learned how easily enough but he just preferred not to, wanting to communicate through noises and looks instead. Yuu would try to calm their worries and focus on how he at least slept through the night, but they never did get a solid opinion on why Yutu was so slow to learn from any doctor they saw.
His slow development cause Yuu to really focus on going over his lessons with him at home, it fosters a love of learning in him that evolves as he grows. At first it's very innocent, his eyes are wide with childlike wonder at the world around him and his smile is as bright as his eyes. "Unfortunately" (because it's not truly unfortunate that his parent can still afford to feed him) he's still a chubby little boy, and one who is missing a parent so he's an easy target for his peers to isolate and tear into. He feels like a beached whale, or a dried up octopus, his self esteem is severely hurt as is his outlook on the world. Yuu feels like they are seeing a familiar sight when their child hiccups through recounting his day as they desperately try to hold back their anger and think of a way to deal with this logically.
"Your daddy went through this too." Yutu blows into the tissue you hold for him and tries to hide his surprise. He's always eager to learn about his father, you wish you could think of more to tell him but the words you're saying don't fully feel like you are thinking as you say them. It's like you are briefly being possessed by someone else, just that the "someone else" is... yourself from when you were whole. "He was really hurt by it, and he was one of the strongest people I knew. So it's ok if you need to cry about how you feel."
"I dooon't want to feel." He pushes his face up against your chest like he's a baby again trying to soothe his nightmare against yoru heartbeat and you squeeze him as tight as you can. "I want it to stop, can daddy tell me how to make it stop?" Your mind screams that however daddy handled it must have been bad, it turns to look at someone, you can just see the outline of him. He's handsome, well put together and he's... worried.
"I don't want them to be scared of everything; suspicious,̸̮͉͓͔͎̭̜̦̽̄̆̇̿̈́̍̉̽͌̍̕ͅͅ ̶̰̙͔̝͕̞͍̭͙͕̇͆͌̋̿̌͐̂̿͘̚͝y̷̨̪̳̳͉̮͚̅͗͗̽̔̂͐͌̽͠ę̶̩̣̤͚͎͔̯̖̭͐̃̏̓͐̾͐̓̎̇̅̊͐̕s̸͚̖͙̗̣̩̼͎̼͇̝͂̿̉̌͛̈͜ ̴͔̟̤̩̗̯̦̀͐̄̽̊͛͑͋͊͒̓̕͝b̵̧̧̡̰̪̫̤͔͚͕̝̠̹͈́̀̈́͌̄͋̔̿́̕͘ǘ̵̢̼͖̪̱͖̼̼͎̲͈͙͆̀̎͌̍̎̂͐͗̇͌̎̊̚ț̶̛͖̹͚̾̆̂͑̌̊̕ͅ ̴̢̛͇͙̱͇̝̺͇̗̫̘̥͛̀͊̅n̸̢̥͕͗̓e̴͙̹̹̘̮̫̦͐v̶̡̡̧̡̛͓̮̝̺̮̜̳̠̜̅͊̒̄̔͂̋͋͋̊̔̈́͆͘ë̷̟̳̲̰̗͉̬̘̘̣̳̼͙́̑͜ŗ̸̳̹̺͔̦͔̮̖̔͆̊̈́͆̈̔̊͠ ̶̧̢̩̺̗̗̲̠̬̰͇̣̦̈́͑͜͜p̶̱̗͔͔͌a̴̰͓̎͂̅̓̈̎͝r̶̯̰̪̟̾̾̓̂̈́͆̈̀̒̓̕͠ ̴͇̖͉̯̖̞͍͐́͊͛̐̂̐á̵̢͎̙͎́͝ ̸̨̙̞̙̩̮̺̦̻̗̭̩͉̱̠̐̓̿͘ń̷̡̡̡̧̨̪̜͕̠͐̄̉̐͝͠ő̸̥̹̣̙͛̏̏̃̋̍͝͠ḯ̶̢̛͍͔̯̤͊̈́̉̑̂̈̐͊̚̕ḋ̸̦̘̮͍͙̜͈̙͉͖̭͚̊͌͗̊̊̈̾̄͌ͅ ̵̛̛̠̫͙͎̘̣̘͕͗̒̈͒̓̅͊̔͘͝"
Yutu's silence brings you back to reality, he's mercifully fallen asleep against you and missed the aftershocks of your migraine. It's nothing new, but somehow this little scenario makes you feel that much more tired, and that much more alone.
I've mentioned it before but Yuu decides to enroll Yutu into martial arts classes as a way to help with his self confidence and the bullying. In my mind the end up doing it out of a worry that the bullying could get physical, and in the hopes that maybe Yutu will make friends with the kids in his class. It sort of works, Yuu enrolls them in a parent-child class and they certainly make some connections. Yutu finds some inner peace from the class, but his experiences at school make him very shy and keep him from truly opening up to the people around him. The friend groups he finds his way into never seem to fully accept him, a lot of it comes down to petty rivalries over sport and school. Yutu is smart sure, but he knows that no amount of talent makes up for hard work and he's a very hard worker. He's too proud to do something like throw a match or fail a test just for a little social acceptance, and not afraid to say as much.
That's not to say he doesn't want to be accepted, he does. He really deeply does he just doesn't think he could live if that acceptance was fake. Part of that, not that he ever tells Yuu this, is fueled by their descriptions of his father and of how much they loved him. If his dad was in the same position and found you then one day, he hopes, he'll find someone who accepts him too. And he'll make sure to stay alive and do all the little things with them they have ever wanted to do, no matter how out of his comfort zone or weird he finds them to be. Azul! Yutu is a bit of a hopeless romantic underneath his jock appearance, so he's one of the yutus that assumes his dad died in a tragic accident that left your memories in shambles. He's willing to fight people on that point, but Yuu made him promise not to and while he's fussy about listening to other people, he always listens to Yuu.
Which makes the trip between worlds that much harder on him. He might have been alone, but he wasn't exactly lonely. Not when he had a home to come back to and a parent who loved him, he could handle waiting for people who would accept him when he already had someone who did but now... It doesn't help that from his perspective he immediately does something stupid by getting put in Savanaclaw. Crewel already told him his dad was the dormleader of Octavinelle, that he was an exemplary student but not very... athletic so why would he be any different than anyone else. This isn't helped by the reception he gets from his dormmates. Yutu never starts fights, but he sure as hell finishes them and the amount of people left on the floor by the end of his first week makes everyone aware of that.
It earns him respect, and it would have immediately made him his first friend if he had been willing to take Sav at his word when he asked him to show him how he fought so well. Instead he insists on acting like Saitama and making the guy "prove" himself, something that Crewel watches from the sidelines with a weary expression. So his grandson wasn't lying, he really does take more after his dad than you.
He does not so much make other friends as they do make him theirs... two Heartslabyul students and an overly enthusiastic gamer from Ignihyde who sticks to him like a wet cloth and he hates the realization that he's worried about these guys. Sav, Thrush, Fiore, and... Mori. He loves these people. He hopes they never die, but everywhere he looks he sees omens. It hurts, he never knew he had three hearts or that he could fill them up with so much love that it wants to bleed out of him but he refuses to let it. He's learned that he's stronger than he ever thought possible, he'll squeeze a good outcome out of this, for you and for them it never had to be one or the other.
Traveling back in time and being separated from his friends terrifies him. Sav is always refusing to use his brain, what if he got lost because he decided not to read a sign somewhere? Fiore is a little shit and Thrush can't be assed to keep his brother in line what if they get thrown in jail and Yutu has to actively stop himself from thinking about Mori. The muscles in his chest go taut and he forgets to breathe until little black dots prick at his vision from all the ways things could go wrong for the self proclaimed "white mage of the FC party." The guy is just too much of a flight risk... he needs to fix this fast.
But does he? Having you alive again is like a dream, sure you're younger now and don't know him from a hole in the ground but he gets to see all of the memories he was so curious about. He's especially happy to have met Ace and Deuce, they remind him of his own Heartslabyul friends. His world feels a bit more full when he sits to eat a meal with you, guys who he guesses he'll probably end up calling Uncles at some point, and Grim. He's got mixed feelings about Grim, but the little guy really seems to like him now and it's funny to think about whether or not he's the older or younger brother. He's starting to remember what it's like to have a family again, speaking of which...
"Aww looks like you're a real dorm leader now ain't ya shrimpy?" Floyd's voice sounds fun, and it's all Yutu can do to keep from smiling. He instantly understands why Jade must have missed him so much, they looks alike but the difference in tempo is apparent from their stance and dress, and just looking at the younger version of his Uncle he can see how much more alive he feels.
"Pleased to make your acquaintance, Yutu was it?" Jade's smile suggests danger, he thinks the name is funny that's his guess. The glint in his eyes suggests he wants to tease, and Yutu prepares to make some comments of his own before he notices that his Uncle's attention is not on him but rather- "Floyd told us about your unexpected arrival," he has been avoiding this for so long he almost didn't see the familiar stranger next to Jade, the rest of his words are heard but not noted as he looks directly at his father for the first time. What a painful realization that is.
"Hey hey grouper, you ok?" Floyd's tone very much does not suggest worry but it brings him back to the present. Or would it be the past?
"Grouper? Might regret calling me that pool noodle. Yeah I'm fine, just surprised you came over here yourselves. I thought I was doing good keeping my nose where it belongs." Yutu swears Azul looks genuinely hurt for a second, but it disappears under his glasses and his patented grin.
"Well you certainty don't pull any punches do you?" If Yutu didn't know any better he'd assume his dad was... excited.
He is, he's very excited. Yuu is a kind hearted person and Azul loves them for it, but Yutu has some of that hater energy he knows he can work with. A second set of eyes on Yuu's world is just what Azul needs to win their ha- expand his business, so he keeps finding ways to talk to Yutu. He ends up learning a decent bit about him despite Yutu's best efforts: he's lying about his unique magic to catch people off guard when he uses it, he's not a muscle head nor does he take particular pride in his physique despite the intense amount of effort he puts into staying strong. It's interesting to watch the sort of things he likes to eat... sure a lot of it is healthy food but none of it is health food. That ends up being the first real conversation they have and it throws Yutu for a bit of a loop. It reminds him of that conversation he had with Yuu all those years ago when he was crying about being bullied. About how his dad gone through the same thing he did and suddenly his dad seems a bit more like a person and less like a shadow that's haunting him.
The way his dad looks at Yuu is breathtakingly soft. Azul is ambitious, talented, hardworking, and oh so desperate to impress that Yutu finds it hard to hear their doubts about the way he feels because he can see all of the signs clear as day about how Azul feels about Yuu. Uncle Jade's stories about how Azul was silly in his affections, the little ways he got excited when Yuu complimented him or how much of a show off he insisted on being around them are happening right in front of him and while he wonders about that little thing he always tried to avoid. The "could have been." Would his dad have agreed with Yuu's decision to enroll him in martial arts? Or would Azul have put him in a different school, would that even have been nessecary or would people be too afraid to make fun of his son? That promise Jade said Azul made to Yuu about never having to go hungry again... would he have kept it? Yutu never starved but he knows his parent did, what would Azul say if he knew? Would it break him? Would he even care?
These thoughts take a toll on Yutu. He can't keep pretending he isn't worried about his friends when he is trying to avoid thinking about his parent's relationship, and vise versa so he puts more effort into finding them. Thrush and Fiore are the easiest, they made their way to Craneport and established a base pretty quickly and are surprisingly not complete shits about him taking his sweet ass time to find them. Sav is though, the Scalding Sands is a long way away and getting him to Sage's Island proves to be tedious and expensive, of course he's going to complain and pick a fight when Yutu shows up again. He hates to admit it but it feels good to have his sparring partner back, it perks up his mood a tiny bit. But time beings to drag on with no signs of Mori, Yutu is getting more restless in his worries and clumsier in hiding where he's going. Sure he knows how to shake off a tailing eel, but an octopus? The only one he's ever known is himself.
Azul learns from his various contacts that Yutu has friends. He keeps his appearance under the hood, but his friend group is close and clearly working towards some sort of goal. None of the names he gets show up in any systems he has access to, Jade does his best to find a shred of evidence that these are people who exist and can't. It worries all three of the octotrio, this is a problem they need to get to the bottom of and fast. But before that can happen another one of those portals opens, this time outside Ramshackle Dorm while Azul is trying to spend some precious alone time with you. And the thing that comes out of it is terrifying.
The blot phantom is unlike anything Azul has ever seen, not in a textbook or in person. It's a misshapen mass of a person, clothing real but foul smelling and stained with ink.
"Use my phone to call the twins and get out of here as fast as you can." Azul doesn't like his chances alone, but he likes yours even less. You don't run, it brings just a bit of a smile to his face, but you still call Jade as Azul weaves ice around it's legs to try and keep it down. The monster howls squirming against the ice and screaming at him like he should understand what it's talking about. Azul tries to stare it down, tries to appear like he's a mage that belongs on the front lines and not a support. The best support but still, he's slow. Too slow to dodge the vine that whips out of the creature's back and speeds towards his heart but fast enough to catch the scream that tears from Yutu's throat.
"STAY AWAY FROM MY DAD YOU FUCKING PIECE OF TRASH!" Eight cosmic tentacles rip out of the ground and tear into the monster, Yutu's chest is heaving with the strain of bringing his full strength to bear as Azul pauses to collect himself. As Yutu finishes off the monster he goes over what he knows, looks at the boy in front of him and traces parts of himself in him and forgets his previous plans to expose him to Yuu as a fraud. When his child looks back at him, disguise knocked off and fear clear on his face the reason for the previous distance Yutu has been trying to maintain suddenly makes sense. Before Azul overblotted he was quiet. There's a similar quiet over him now, a similar look of tense surprise, but Yutu- no- his child doesn't know that. His child is looking at him in fear, in worry for his reaction or his safety he doesn't know but he knows the way those tears start to form. Azul knows the quiver of the lip and the shriek, of all the things he could have passed on to such a treasure.
"You deserved better from me." Because it's true. He might think of himself as a work in progress but he still thinks he has quality; he would have done research, read every book he could get his hands on, taken classes, anything he would need to do to be a good father, a worthy partner. Anything. "You deserved to have the world within your grasp, not whatever shadow of a future and a father I left you with. I am so sorry." He does not expect Yutu to grab him and hold him like he's still somehow worthy of his love, but Azul can't fight the urge to grab back, to stroke his son's hair and let the tears fall on his suit without any care at all. I'm here. It's ok, daddy's here, daddy's got you, he won't let anything happen to you.
Azul likes to make plans. He planned how he would confess to Yuu (it did not go as planned but he still planned it) and he has clear ideas about the future he wants to have with them. Yutu was already a part of it, he's dreamed of having somewhere safe and full of love to come home to since he realized what his feelings for Yuu were. So to see that dream come to life, to have it crying in his arms about how someone else corrupted it into a nightmare and stole what he'd worked so hard to earn- Oh Azul is a petty and vindictive little bitch once he has gotten his own tears out of his system. He's extremely proud of all the work Yutu has already done towards ending the bad future, and while he is disappointed that he didn't think to ask for his help he is understanding. If he was in Yutu's position he doesn't know how he'd react, but he could see himself making similar choices.
He insists on having a family dinner so he can get to know all of the real things about Yutu from him instead of just observing them. He wants the three (and a half since Grim's there too) of you to cook together and just talk before getting down to the sad business that's brought Yutu here. Some of it's instinct to feed his child, but mostly he wants to prove to his son that he's worthy of being his father. That you chose him out of everyone for a reason, something Yutu sort of knows already but he's wanted to have his father in his life for so long that he plays up his nerves just a little bit so he can be spoiled by him.
Azul's reach is long, and combined with the twins finding where Mori is should be much easier. What worries Azul is the bad future and the little information Yutu tells him about how it started. He's never had any real reason to doubt what he knows about overblots, or to distrust the Headmage, or to think Grim could kill him. But if the world ends the economy does too, and he is not about to die before he's achieved everything he's been dreaming of. His ambition is almost scary, but Yutu can't bring himself to be afraid. This version of his father is the nicest one he's seen yet, and if it means anything to anyone, he'd like to keep him just as much as Azul wants him too.
