So, there's this strange idea that a hivemind would be a regression towards the average of all of its members and that just...can't be the case, can it? Like, say you have 50 drones in a hivemind and 49 of them used to be plumbers before they were assimilated and one of them used to be a nuclear physicist; then the whole hivemind will obviously have access to knowledge of both plumbing and nuclear physics. It will not be 98% plumber and 2% nuclear physicist. It will be entirely both.
What's more, if the hivemind's opinion is formed by its collective knowledge, and its collective knowledge is additive, then its opinions will not necessarily be reducible to the opinions of any combination of its separate members. Combining minds is not like counting votes; it's like mixing chocolate and peanut butter. You get something completely different.

I’m not sure when Canada Post obtained a Borg Cube, but I feel that can’t be good.

[I am babysitting a toddler. I point at a traffic light.]
Me: Red means stop
Jorge Luis Borges [clambering out of the sewers]: But red doesn't have to mean stop! The act of stopping has no intrinsic redness! All signifiers are radically contingent! There is a gap between signifiers and the things they signify, AND THE GAP ITSELF IS A SIGNIFIER
[I grab a golf club and start beating Borges to death while the toddler screams]

Anyways, my conclusion is that the problem with technology is that it will always be used by certain groups of individuals to more efficiently leverage power against other groups of other individuals.
Solution: No more individuals.

Hotwire is sooo funny to me. Their dynamic is like
Pixal: I hate him so much. I want him to die, I would do it with my own two hands so I can watch the life drain out his stupid pathetic eyes while he knows how effortlessly I was able to kill him, but I care far too much about everyone else on the team and it would just break their little hearts so I will stick with the seething rage my entire body feels every single time he’s in the same general vicinity as me. I have planned seven different very detailed ways to murder him, and I am awaiting the day I finally snap.
Kai: lmaooooo she wants me sooooooooooooooo bad.
