12 march 2011
Screeching brakes, a jarring collision, glass shattering all around you, shards of it embedding into your tender skin. You are too young to understand it all, but you know it's bad. You are suddenly upside down, the only thing helping you stay put is the seatbelt fastened around you. You didn't really like seatbelts but your mom always insisted on you wearing one.
Your mom, you can't see her face, she's upside down too, and she isn't talking. That's unusual because you're crying and she isn't turning around to comfort you. Someone is screaming outside of your car, and then you are pulled out. You don't know who's touching you, and you want them to stop. Where is your mom? Why did they not pull her out too?
An ambulance approaches you; its loud sirens feel like pine needles drilling into your skull. You try to cover your ears but your hands are covered in blood. The world around you is painted red- the flashing lights of the sirens and the liquid oozing from your cuts. It’s no longer your favorite color.
27 may 2011
You are playing in the playground near your home, waving at your mom from the top of the slide. She's gotten better, she smiles more easily at you now. And you are trying to be a good kid too; you help wash the dishes and you clean your room all by yourself. You don't want your mom to feel sad again and go back to that dreaded hospital.
You slide out, happy giggles leaving your mouth, before climbing up the tiny stairs once again. But as you reach the top, an ambulance rushes by the playground. You don't know what's happening, but you suddenly feel shards of glass on your skin once again. Your hands are shaking as you sit on the floor, curling around yourself in a ball.
"What's wrong?" someone asks and you lift your head tentatively. It's a young boy, he's looking at you worriedly, a tiny pout on his lips.
"I don't like ambulances," you hiccup, burying your head in your knees again.
Suddenly, small hands cover your ears, muffling the shrill sound of sirens. They are warm and sticky from the red popsicle he’s still holding.
"Now you can't hear them," he giggles, his eyes disappearing into moon crescents. Despite your raging fear, a smile finds its way into your lips.
"What's those on your face," you ask with a small voice, pointing at the faint marks dusting his cheeks.
"They're called freckles," he says proudly and you nod.
"They're pretty."
"Thank you!" he grins at you, his hands still covering your ears. The tightness in your chest seems to dissipate slowly before his kind smile- the shadows never stood a chance in front of the sun.
"What's your name?"
"Felix. And you?"
"Yn."
"We should be friends," he beams and you grin back, agreeing wholeheartedly. "We should."
15 november 2021
You are sitting on the grass of that very same playground, Felix still by your side. The night breeze is cooling as it brushes against your bodies, and you're wearing his red sweater. It smells like his cologne and your perfume- an intoxicating scent you've come to memorize by heart.
His nose tip is rosy from the cold, and you can't resist tapping it playfully. "Your nose is pink," you giggle, and he smiles, gently bopping yours in return.
"So is yours."
You look at him as he gazes up at the stars above. You love Felix, it has always been crystal clear to you. From the moment he planted the seed of his friendship into your soul, and throughout the years when it bloomed into something more, bigger than the two of you. It wrapped around your being entirely, binding itself into your every atom, until all you saw is his reflection in you.
And you were tired of treading the line between friendship and something more. You wanted, no craved being with him, your yearning so intense it spilled from you each time he was around. In rosy cheeks and shaky fingers and eyes that soften only when they rest on him- evidence of your love imprinted all upon you.
You take in a deep breath, before laying your hand gently on his cheek, turning his face to meet yours. His eyes widen slightly at the soft touch, and you lean in closer to him. You brush your nose against his, slowly, "to warm it up," you whisper, as his breath hitches in his throat.
He's close, he's so close, you can almost taste the brownies you shared earlier on his lips. You can see his freckles ever so clearly, constellations you often find yourself getting lost in. Your hand is still on his cheek, and you can feel it burning up under your palm.
You close your eyes, as his lips are now just a breath away from yours. It's electrifying- having him so near to the way you've always dreamed, fantasized about. But he needs to be the one to take the jump, all he has to do is lean in a bit, and you'd kiss him. You won't ever let go.
"Lixie...," you choke out, "kiss me."
"I want to." His voice is hoarse with emotion, as if fighting with himself for self-restraint.
"So do it," you ask, swiping your thumb gently across his cheek. Your breaths mingle with one another in a dizzying dance.
"I'm leaving," he says so faintly, you believe for a second that you've imagined it.
"What?" you ask, leaning a bit away to be able to look at him.
"I'm leaving," he repeats, his eyes tightly shut. "We're moving to another country, for my dad's job."
"You're leaving me?" you ask, bewildered.
"I'm not leaving you-"
"But you are. You won't be here anymore." You drop your hand, taking hurried steps away from him. Touching him didn't feel electrifying anymore, it felt horrible and nauseous, because you won't get to do it again.
"I'm sorry, I didn't want to-"
"How long have you known?"
"Yn..."
"Felix," you say, tone stern. "How long?"
"Six months," he whispers and a bitter chuckle escapes your lips.
"When are you leaving?"
"In a week."
The pain becomes unbearable, and you turn your back to him so he wouldn't see your rapidly falling tears. You are angry, as a disguise for the sadness threatening to drown you. Him leaving tasted like the salty water you gulp when you dive in too quickly into the ocean. And you did dive in, in him, in his soul and everything that made up Felix. And now he was leaving you, with no anchor to help you float again.
"Is that why you insisted on spending so much time with me lately? Because you were leaving?"
"You need to understand I didn't know how to tell you, I- I don't even know who I am without you." He pleads, his own eyes shimmering with unshed tears, reminding you of tiny diamonds. That's how it is with Felix, you found beauty in everything he did- even tearing your heart in half.
"Maybe you should've thought of how I would feel. You were thinking of leaving me while I..." Your voice breaks and you take a shaky breath. "While I was falling in love with you."
"I'm in love with you too," he quickly says, reaching out to hold your hand. "I love you, I always have." He's wrapping his arms around you, and you're letting him because it feels safe and secure. Because he’s still your Felix, even if he's leaving you behind.
You wonder what you must have done in a past life, what a horrible person you could've been for the universe to treat you this cruelly. To hand you everything you've ever wanted in a silver platter, and snatch it from your hands before you could dare to grab it.
"We'll make it work," he mumbles into your hair, placing a tender kiss on your temple. "We'll talk and we can be together."
"No, we can't. I'll just hold you back from living your new life, I can't have that."
"Don't talk like that, please," his voice wavers, words barely managing to slip out of his mouth. Regret overtakes your body so suddenly at the thought of his lips- you shouldn't have tried to kiss him. Maybe then he wouldn't have told you he was leaving.
"It's the truth. we'll grow to hate each other, distance will put a strain on us. I'd rather not talk to you than have you resent me."
"But-"
"Just hold me," you cut him off. "As if nothing's happening, please."
And he complies because Felix always does. Because he loves you and as much as he doesn't want to, he knows you're right.
•••••
It's been three months since Felix left- the days passed by agonizingly slowly, and yet the months went by in a blur, a hauntingly vivid reminder of what once was. At first, the texts between you two were frequent, but as time wore on, the messages grew sporadic, from your end, mostly. Seeing him flourish in his new life felt like salt on an open wound, a reminder that he was moving on while you were still anchored in memories of him.
You saw him in every corner of your city. The smell of brownies that he's made countless times, each time you felt sad. The way he kissed your cheek each time he won a game, while you were lying on his bed, bored. The way he hugged you whenever you were sick, gently tucking strands of your hair behind your ear. The way he covered your ears instinctively at each loud noise, knowing how scared it made you still.
And you've felt each of these emotions since he was gone. You were sad and bored and sick and happy and scared. And he wasn't here with you through them. Each moment away from Felix seemed to magnify what could have been- what should have been between the two of you.
There is a building construction next to you, loud cement blocks crashing to the ground. And you are curled around yourself in a protective ball, covering your ears with your hands, because Felix isn't here to do it anymore for you.
You and Felix have grown with one another, your soul carefully woven into his, like two threads intricately stitched into the same tapestry. Him leaving felt like half of your body was cut off from you, and you were left alone to figure out how to function with an incomplete heart.
17 july 2023
Summer break meant coming back home and sleeping in your childhood bedroom once again. Memories of Felix still lingered in there- posters he has given you and his red sweater that you've never found the courage to throw away. It doesn't hurt as much to remember him, the sharp pain morphed into a dull ache you've grown accustomed to by now.
You're watching the TV mindlessly when someone knocks on your door, and you go to open it without a second thought, expecting it to be your parents. It wasn't.
"Felix?" you stammer, stumbling back in shock. You blink repeatedly, in a desperate attempt to make sure he's not a figment of your twisted imagination. You haven't uttered his name in so long, and the syllables felt both foreign and familiar in your mouth.
"It's me," he smiles sheepishly, his hand scratching the back of his neck.
"You are here," you whisper, stating the obvious. He didn't change much, his kind brown eyes and freckles still as captivating as before. But his features were sharper, prettier, and the sight of him is making you dizzy once again.
"I am."
"What are you doing here?" You ask cautiously, opening the door a bit wider to let him in.
"I requested a transfer to your university. I wanted to come back. I missed home, and I missed you," he adds softly, making a turmoil of emotions surge within you.
You clear your throat. "So, you are back for good?"
"I am," he says, smiling slightly at you as if to gauge your reaction. You stay silent and his grin falters; his tongue resting against the inside of his cheek, a habit he hasn't let go of apparently. He then walks to the kitchen and you follow suit. You don't have to show him around, he knows your home like the back of his hand. He spent most of his childhood here after all, even though his house was only a few blocks away.
"How have you been?" he asks as he opens the cupboard to take out a glass. He closes its door softly, careful not to make it thud.
"I'm good. It's summer break so I'm finally back home, what about you?"
"I'm good too. It's nice to be back."
Your conversation is strained and awkward, so unnatural of you both. There was so much to say, so much to ask about, but you couldn't bring yourself to speak. He felt like uncharted territory to you now, one you didn't have the strength to discover once again.
"It's your mom's birthday tomorrow, right?" he smiles and you nod.
"Should we make her our cookies? Like we used to before I..."
"Before you left," you finish, bitterness dripping from your tone.
Hurt flashes in his eyes and you feel your heart suddenly clench in your chest. It was unfair for you to treat him this way. He was only seventeen and if your parents were to move away you would've followed them too.
"Okay, let's do it." You smile sincerely for the first time since he came back to you.
You both move seamlessly in the kitchen, each knowing your tasks like a choreographed dance. This was a tradition that started when you were twelve years old. You'd brown the butter while he beat the egg and sugar together. He'd sift the flour while you cut up chocolate. He'd mix it all while you preheat the oven. And then you'd roll the dough together.
Your hands brush against one another as you shape up the cookies, and it feels so intense you almost drop to the floor. You miss him, you miss him so much and he's near you and you can't seem to think straight anymore.
When the cookies are finally in the oven, he silently washes the dishes while you dry them. He abruptly pauses, hands still covered in soap before turning back to you.
"Can we talk? Please?" he says too quickly as if he's been overthinking asking this question.
"I'm busy today," you scramble to think of an excuse, you weren't ready to face him yet.
"Tomorrow?"
"I'm staying with my mom, then there is Han’s party."
"I'll be there too. We can talk then, please?" he asks, eagerness evident in his voice.
"Fine. Let's talk there," you concede and he nods, awkwardly shifting in his place. He finishes the dishes before drying his hands. You avoid his gaze and he sighs softly. "I'll get going. Tell your mom happy birthday from me."
"Will do." You smile tightly and he does the same, before finally leaving your home, and in his trail, a maelstrom of emotions you weren't certain how to deal with.
18 july 2023
You're at the reunion party Han is hosting with all your high school friends. You watch as Felix takes turns talking to everybody. He fits right in here, a puzzle perfectly clicking in place as if he's never left. He's telling a joke to Chan who laughs loudly, hitting Minho's arm repeatedly. Everyone is happy he's back, because they never had to gravel with the consequences of his absence. Because he's never ripped their heart out.
Felix is looking for you around the room- he hasn't seen you in a while. He assumes you're somewhere around the house, and that you'd like to talk when time has passed. The knot in his stomach tightens as the weight of your conversation dawns on him, he longs to be with you, to undo the past two years he has spent away from you. But he's afraid to mess everything up, once again, so he stays near his friends who are now pulling him outside of the house.
"We have a surprise for you," Han says excitedly before pointing at the sky, "look."
Fireworks, a dazzling show of blue, red and yellow. And Felix feels as if the colors were drained out of his face and splattered into the night sky before him.
"Where is yn?" he turns to Chan, eyes wide.
"Inside, I think. Why?"
"Stop- stop this, don't start any more fireworks," he urges the boy who's looking at him worriedly.
"Why, what's wrong? We have a warrant to start them, don't worry."
"No, no you don't understand. Yn hates loud noises," he explains frantically, before bolting inside the house.
He's yelling your name, and you are nowhere to be found, the sound of the fireworks so loud he isn't even sure you can hear him.
He opens door after door, and after painstakingly long seconds he finally finds you in the bathroom, sitting on the floor, your head buried in your knees. Just like you were twelve years ago.
Felix doesn't waste any time, kneeling in front of you to cover your ears with his hands, you look up at him, waterline brimming with unshed tears.
"It's okay, I'm here. Just focus on my voice," he smiles reassuringly at you, and you clasp your hands on top of his, doing your best to muffle the sound of the explosions.
"Your hands are still small," you attempt to joke, as hot tears trail down your cheeks. You hated how scared you still were.
"The perfect size to cover your ears," he smiles at you, his eyes softening when they take in your distressed state.
You hiccup, overcome by a new wave of emotion- for an entirely different reason this time. "You came."
"I'll always come. Even if the world was ending, I'll... I'll come to you," he smiles, biting his lower lip to stop his own tears from falling.
"It'd be useless if you came then. There would be nothing for us to do," you manage to say through shaky breaths.
"But I'd be with you," he insists, gaze unwavering, "It will be scary for you. I imagine it will be loud, the world can't end silently."
"Mine did, when you left." Felix's eyes go wide at your words, and you don't care that you are baring your soul entirely to him. "Please don't leave me again. I hate goodbyes with you."
"Why would we ever say goodbye again, hm?" he reassures, his knuckles brushing against your cheek softly. "I'm never leaving you, as long as you'll have me, I'm here," he whispers, before pulling you into his chest.
Your hands find his back, and his cheek rests on top of your head. And you both close your eyes, an exhale of relief leaving you both at the same time. The world grows dark around the two of you, the only thing you saw was his heart and the overflowing love he still bore for you.
You felt as if you were wandering blind and you could finally see again, as if the string tying you to him wrapped tightly around the both of you, trapping you in his warm embrace.
You don't know what will happen next, but he's holding you now, and he'll hold you when the world is ending, and that is enough.

Ateez Reaction - Running You Over With Their Car
Genre: Crack, Reaction, Gender Neutral Reader
Word Count: Almost 1k
Warning: depiction of car accidents and illegal behavior portrayed in a comedic manner (both Ateez and the reader), reader is injured
Song Rec : Rover by Kai
You decide to take a stroll during the night, exploring the beautiful city of Seoul. Finding the nightlife too hectic, you opt for one of the quieter areas. All is well, until you decide to cross a street on a small road. Before you know it, you're greeted by two bright lights and almost instantly, darkness along with the smell of rubber. Perhaps it wasn't the best idea to wear dark clothes tonight.
Hongjoong
Hongjoong stops his car immediately, brakes slamming comically loud and the tires screeching
He rushes out of his car, cursing both out of frustration and fear
He sprints to your crumpled body and starts shaking you frantically
You jolt up and curse him out for literally running you over
He just looks at you with that panicked squirrel expression
"Please don't sue me"
"I'm going to sue you"
The court cooks Hongjoong after a look from his dashcam
To make up for his losses after his legal defeat, Hongjoong releases a new song
Music critics praise it for its percussion
Until you decide to listen closely (he was your op but he sure knew how to make bops)
Turns out he literally sampled the exact moment where his car and your body collided
Seonghwa
The prettiest man you've ever seen rushes out of his car
Even the darkness of night can't his perfect features
"Oh my god, I'm so sorry"
Seonghwa rambles on, his boba eyes showing genuine concern
You're a sucker for people that actually take accountability and Seonghwa being a super gorgeous person is a bonus
He reaches his hand out and you reach for it
You only grab onto a fistful of sleeve
You look up
Seonghwa is wearing the most convoluted shirt ever and he managed to look so elegant
His shirt has ridiculously big sleeves and lots of ruffles
The sleeves fully envelop his hands
There's no way he could've had control of the wheel wearing those
"Why tf were you wearing those gargantuan sleeves?"
After a lot of angry questioning, Seonghwa confesses
He did see you before running you over (accidentally)
But his hands physically could not grip the wheel due to his shirt
Which he fully knew before taking the wheel
But there was no way he'd wear something ugly
Yunho
He does the right thing (mostly)
Yunho rushes over to you and makes sure you're all good and dandy
You aren't, but that's a problem for another day
Yunho fervently starts apologizing
Turns out he decided to leave the house after a Mario Kart marathon which spanned for several days
Yunho explains that this gaming marathon caused him to hallucinate being in Mario Kart while he was driving
Yes, he thought you were an item box
Of course you get mad
Not only did he game to the point of delirium, but he thought you looked like those holographic minecraft looking cubes
In an attempt to get you to calm down, Yunho explains that it could have been worse
He could've been playing Valorant
Wait, how could that be possible?
Don't tell me that he has access to military grade artillery...
Yeosang
You lie on the asphalt as the car drives away
Did you legit get hit and run?
Accepting your circumstance and also being too lazy to get up, you resign yourself to your fate
The stars look beautiful tonight
You hear engines revving
The car had turned itself around, revealing the driver, one of the most handsome man you've laid your eyes on
Too bad he doesn't have his eyes on you
"Oops wrong turn"
Yeosang is looking at his GPS while on a facetime call with Wooyoung, who is giving him directions as well
His car is headed straight towards you
For the second time that night, you got run over
"Yeosang what was that?"
"I think that was a speed bump"
San
San stumbles out of the car
He sees you lying helplessly on the floor
There's tire streaks all over you
You're not moving
In fact, it was hard to tell if you were breathing
You were fully conscious and not that hurt
However you were trying to make the lawsuit money as high as possible
As a big advocate of health and fitness, San rushed into action
His members clowned him for getting CPR certified
But oh if they could see him now
Using all of his strength, San went for chest compressions
He even sang Wave to keep his compressions perfectly timed
So the thing about CPR is that the movies don't show how hard you have to actually do them
"EUGHGHHHGGHGHG"
"Yay, you're alive!"
You learned the hard way that CPR can break ribs
Mingi
It takes him a while to register what happened
Not because he's in shock, but because his stereo is on max volume
When his car made contact with your body, he thought it was just the bass going ham
Until he sees a lump in his rear view mirror
Mingi pulls over right next to you
His tires are like 2 cm from your face and you were praying the whole time as he reversed way above the speed limit
You're trying to have a conversation with him
However he's literally rapping along to the song playing
He's really good, but time and place
"Bro I literally got run over tf are you doing?"
He holds a hand up, and you can see his designer rings
"The beat is about to drop give me a sec"
Mingi bursts out dancing
Wooyoung
The driver takes his sweet time to park his car
Wooyoung leaves the car, wearing a nice pair of shades
Why was this man wearing sunglasses in the middle of the night?
Soon enough, he's standing over your fallen body
You feel a kick
You tilt your eyes to see the most cartoon looking shoes you've ever seen
Those clompers could level out an entire termite mound
"Stop kicking me with these goofy-ah stompers"
"Then maybe you shouldn't have gotten run over"
"Excuse me???"
"Skill issue"
You shoot up, pure rage and pettiness fueling your newfound energy
It doesn't take long for you to run to his car
Seoul Hospital admits two patients that night
Jongho
Jongho immediately clocks that he ran over someone
Even if his karaoke playlist on spotify was all the way up, and he was belting for his life
He actually helps you up
You think it'll go all well and dandy, after all this lad is so polite
Until he reaches out into his pocket and pulls out cash
It's a good sized wad
"How about we both decide this never happened?"
Is this man seriously trying to bribe you?
The money's tempting, but his Mercedes Benz indicates that there's more to be won through a juicy lawsuit
You refuse the money
Jongho lets out a hearty sigh, but he doesn't seem distressed at all
"This is going to ruin the tour"
"What tour?"
"The world tour"
Note: Thank you for reading everyone! This is my first fanfic in like 7 years and I'm still very new to posting my writing online.

For the music ask game - 4 and/or 11!! :D
4. underrated artist: old man cabbage – blair crimmins and the hookers
blair crimmins and the hookers are CRIMINALLY underrated. putting out all these jaunty lil bops and racking up only 5k monthly listens!!! shit's some flavor of freaked up. but! old man cabbage + mean mean man are particularly fun :-)
11. from favorite playlist: haldern – black country, new road
from my i am in eskew playlist!! this is one of the few non-instrumentals that managed to sneak in... but i do think haldern is still strange and disconcerting enough to make the cut. colin stetson's a dream of water and beyond the brake are other favorites that stick closer to eskew's core imo!
#ty for the ask fish!!!#ask game :D#guys i love colin stetson. hes soooooo good. he gets funky w the saxophone in SUCH a fun way!!!#like. w beyond the brake he purposefully keeps in the pad clicks#which!!! is a really interesting musical choice imo. it makes it more raw and more percussive#it brings the listener into the PROCESS of creating music – there is no smoothness! there is no ease! you hear the shifting of the fingers#you can HEAR the musician's work. it's beautifully pared-down. its bones are utterly exposed. ghhhhh#biting at the bit. beyond the brake i love you 5ever

top 10 title tracks of 2023
in which i am a nerd and rant about music<3
10. BYOB - Billlie
this is just the cutest little city pop song! it's simple and catchy and it was a real change to hear such soft voices from billlie! softer title tracks always stand out to me because they are often so so pretty and delicate and byob is so so pretty and delicate! and the lyrics... i have claimed this as an aromantic anthem, it's ours. not relating to your friends having crushes .... billlie i see u
9. Break the Brake - Xdinary Heroes
this song is just straight vibes... the loudest rock we've gotten from xdinary and I appreciate it SO much. the verses r so clean and the falsetto.. its harmonically so interesting so the noise of the chorus feels properly cathartic and doesn't feel like a loss which can sometimes happen in scream-esc choruses. It's arranged SO well to balance all these things and be stimulating while also being so emotive. AND JUNHAN WITH THOSE CRUNCHY NOTES IN HIS SOLO. the dissonance.. its so brain-sratchy
8. In Bloom - Zerobaseone
zebi brainrot is so real friends.. be careful. this song is so beautiful! i think its a perfect example of the song marrying the concept and mv and members tones so well. from literally the first minute of zb1 i was so excited about their concept of mixing natural imagery like flowers with glitchy technology imagery and i hoped the music would match... AND IT DID! its so lyrical while being crunchy and energetic. SUCH a slayful debut
7. #menow - Fromis_9
this song is sooooo pretty. epitome of a soft bop. it's a classic fromis sound but with this sense of maturity and humility that makes it so engaging and emotional. it demands to be taken seriously but still is so fun! the vocal production is next level.. the effect on their voices in the chorus so they're used like instruments... one of favourite techniques ever. i LOVE when the vocals truly feel like part of the arrangement and not just sitting on top and this song truly does that
6. Spicy - Aespa
the absolute cunt aespa serve in this song... who let them. anyone who knows me knows i'm obsessed with everything moonshine has ever made.. and so when i heard they were doing an aespa title... i went crazy. and i am so right for it. THE BASS IS INSANE?? it puts all other synth basses to shame with how in your face it is. and the crispy snare? idk how to describe this song other than cunty because she genuinely does not care about being clean or palatable... like she is In Your Face with sound. and aespa literally ate that up... they are so fun and cheeky and confident! i'm sorry this is the kind of song that only a group of baddies could handle and aespa stepped up
5. Sugar Rush Ride - TXT
txt doing disco... like you already have me at that. it's sooooo groovy and although the anti-chorus was surprising.. i'm not mad at it! I'm so happy they went into it full force with the whisper vocals and the choreo switching mood, it rly helped the genre change make sense. and the DISCOOO at the end.. bop central. the lyrics and choreo and vibes overall r just so beautiful.. what can i say i love songs about gay sex i mean forbidden love...
4. Groovy - Cravity
the funky bop of all funky bops... literally funk pop goodness! there is so much movement in this track theres so many different rhythms happening and the blend together sooo well. the dance break is perfect.. literally everything you want from a dance break with the continuation of the same sounds but a new tone to it and new rhythmic focuses. and the choreo for it literally hits ever beat you want it to and stretches out the time between them perfectlyyyy. but ultimately it is on here because it is a feel-good happy fun bop.. and she excels at it! vity makes me so happy and they are so good at making songs that make you happy
3. Galileo - Kep1er
cutest song of the year! it is so groovy and fun and danceable. it is sooo feel-good it literally makes me smile every time. thank you hiyyih for putting aegyo in a song<3 where is her nobel peace prize. this is the kind of song where you truly can't hear the music theory going on because it just does exactly what you want it to do! any tension chords are resolved perfectly where you want them to. it's the perfect example of chords from minor keys borrowed to make a song that sounds so major and happy. there is absolutely nothing i would change about this song it is sooo perfect. absolutely filled to the brim with joy
2. ROAR - The Boyz
...like literally hello? this song came out of nowhere for me i did NOT expect to be as impressed as i was like my life changed after this song. firstly the whistle.. hot and sexy and catchy. carrying it through as a motif, chopping it up, creating variations, translating it to a singable vocal line... all of that is SO impressive to be able to pull off. crunchy track underneath.. beautiful. but what is most impressive to me about this song is the topline. the vocals are literally insane.. chanhee and hyunjae have my favourite tbz voices and u are crazy if u don't agree that they r the main characters of this song. some of those chorus lines are So high and they can sing them in a way that sounds so effortless. and the backing vocals... the Incredibly high harmony in the choruses makes me want to scream (it's jacob i think.. jail). and there is just voices Everywhere.. everywhere theres little 'ahs' hidden around and it not only fits the songs sexy concept in such a natural way but it just fills up every bit of space in the song. and the lyrics... once again i love a song about ..*checks notes* forbidden love.. that is damned by heaven... definitely not about gay sex tho .. definitely not..
1. Chill Kill - Red Velvet
second moonshine on the list .. no one is suprised. i think this song has complimented red velvet's two sides of creepy and feel-good the most successfully. the tone shift from the verses to the chorus is so obvious... but seamless. and what does it is the harmony! the chords are perfect... it seems redundant to talk about rv vocals but they rly just make the song. and the outro... blending both vocal parts of the chorus together.. it sounds epic. it adds to both the happy and creepy by sounding like a group of friends together.. but also cult-y with all that creepiness still lingering. singing 'forget about your sorrow' with the happiest voices like the verses weren't filled with creepy minor sounds... literally gaslighting queens. this song is terrifying and also the most joyful (hi sooyoung 😘) experience to listen to.... only the dream team of moonshine cazziopeia and red velvet can manage that. and it's no surprise this dream team gets my no.1 spot!
thank you for reading if you got this far ! pls share your favs with me and if we share any i'd love to hear what you think! happy new year everyone I truly hope it treats you well<3 and here's to more bops in the new year!!!

Mo Dao Zu Shi Driving Headcanons
Wei Wuxian:
drives kinda wild
would drive any kind of car but loves convertibles and Jeeps
Wei wuxian blasts music and sings at the top of his lungs
He's reckless but somehow manages to avoid everyone on the road, so it's fine?
He's most reckless when he's driving alone.
Lan Wangji:
very professional, textbook driver.
Keeps his hands in the 10 to 2 position, as you're taught and doesn't move them an inch.
Lan Wangji sits in silence or has soft classical music playing... sometimes music with flutes... (subtle, isn't he?)
To him, driving is a huge responsibility.
He drives the exact speed limit, how is that even possible??
Jiang Cheng:
has road rage
would probably roll down the window just to flip someone off.
Otherwise, he's pretty by the book and pleasant to drive with
Jiang doesn't listen to music, maybe the radio for the news. Or if he's with company, maybe he'll let them pick the music. But the first time he hears something he doesn't want to, it's back to silence.
Jin Ling:
Prefers to walk with Fairy when he can, but as for long distances... this baby is just learning how to drive.
Scared af, hits his brakes every second.
Uncle Cheng is scary when teaching him, but even scarier when someone cuts Jin Ling off
Jin Ling would soon take after his uncle a bit and yell at them when someone cuts him off, but is quieter. Also does a tiny flip off through the rearview mirror, not bold enough to roll down his window and actually confront the person. Only bold enough to grumble to himself about it and complain to his friends (let him have friends)
Jin Ling listens to music he thinks makes him look cool but actually makes him look baby.
Wen Ning:
probably scared too, like Jin Ling
drives slower than the speed limit.
Unlike Jin Ling, Wen Ning will always be gentle and polite, letting everyone pass him even if he'll be late to his destination.
He plays very soft music and bops gently.
Jiang Yanli:
perfect, beautiful, if anyone honks at her then expect wei wuxian and jiang chang to chase them off the road, (and they were only honking because she was hot)
she probably taught wei wuxian and jiang cheng how to drive
Lan Xichen:
goes with the flow of traffic but is almost always within the legal limit, (so 5 below, 5 above speed limit).
Is very courteous and tends to make the right action in every situation.
probably taught Lan Wangji. Their Uncle gave them both lessons, but Wangji learned a little more with Xichen who was a little more patient.
Nie Huaisang:
just not good.
Nie is the car everyone passes and cusses out to themselves.
Sometimes they cuss him out to his face. Jiang is probably guilty of it.
Nie probably cuts people off on accident, just trying his best
Should probably stay the passenger prince
Wen Qing:
amazing driver, but can get a little pissed when someone is blatantly in the wrong
Taught Wen Ning how to drive
Has a little bit of road rage, but only bites her cheek. What would be the point of yelling at them? Now, if she's the passenger and Wen Ning is driving, you can bet she'll roll the window down and stick her whole head out to give them a piece of her mind
#mo dao zu shi#mdzs#wei wuxian#lan wangji#jiang cheng#jin ling#wen ning#jiang yanli#lan xichen#nie huaisang#wen qing#mdzs headcanons#driving headcanons#modern au#I'll probably keep my focus to these characters most

— if i die young
Mason Mahir's final moments ( triggers: drinking, death, car crash... probably more? )
A scream rang out into the night.
Mason's giddy laughter turning loud and rowdy as the simple birthday dinner turned into a party he won't likely forget. Head thumped to the beat of the music and vision blurred from time to time but he blamed that on the alcohol. There also was a sharp pain in their side that pulled at his focus every now and then but he chalked that to them bumping into something and being unaware. It really wouldn't be the first time.
He met Jamie on arrival, standing on a chair just to hug their giant friend, of course that act didn't go by with the classic comment of 'how's the weather' chuckling even if it was just to themself and promised for some shenanigans later. He found the birthday twins soon afterwards as well, present in hand that he honestly forgot he bought, but it was wrapped up neat and Mason didn't want to rip into it to figure out the contents. Birthdays and pool parties were a great mix, and Mason, in true fashion didn't bring a change of clothes but such a thing never stopped fun, could hardly pump the breaks on the canon balls he made either.
Bopping along to the tunes and chatting away nonsense with people, Mason was having a grand time. Even if periods of time slipped from memory, he was here making new memories to fill in the gaps the best he could. And with so many things happening tonight he was sure such a thing was achievable. Where fun could be had, Mason was there. But tiredness crept in fast and as he starfished onto a towel, gaze to skies watching it grow dark, energy drooped with fluttering lids but a goofy grin still held onto their features and for a while he felt bliss till their body jerked them awake before sleep could fully pull them under. A yawn tearing through, he spotted Rangi and rested their still damp head onto her shoulder, "Take me home? I'm tired."
The night air held a comforting chill as he left, a gentle soothing breeze as he hopped onto their skateboard. Despite asking Rangi, sluggishness spread quick and rather crash at Jamie's, Mason wanted their own bed to sleep this away.
He wasn't to know that would never happen, couldn't know the peace signs he threw up to the partying crowd would be their last.
Send me away with the words of a love song
Screams filled the night. But not of laughter nor from fun.
A death was heralded by the banshees.
Mason just didn't expect to be their own. He had been told that life came at you fast, did those people know know a car would come at you faster?
The pain in his side spread to everywhere now, muscles aching and skin scraping as he hit the road hard. A harsh screeching of tires and squeal of brakes rang loud in their ears as he blinked sharply up to the sky. A million things floated in their head, from questions to jokes, yet he could not speak on any of them, each time lips parted the only noise to spill were groans of pain. He heard people and shuffling footsteps approach, screams and gasps too off in the distance, and he wanted to see what the fuss was. Did someone out do their canon ball? Would he have to challenge them to a dive off? But each time he tried to sit up or even move, a wince had them fall back. "R-Rangi?" he managed to call out, and maybe she heard him, maybe she was the one to run their way but hands found her and he gripped onto her. "Did I fall? I wasn't trying no skate tricks I swear." He wasn't! Mason just wanted to go home.
Ralph came into vision not too long after, a smile kicking back up into place, "Ayyy..." But he turned their head away at something being offered, "I don't want the sauce man..." It smelt funny too, made his nose crinkle but in the action and having people surround them, a new head adding to the crowd as time ticked by, context came into clarity. A dragged out "Ohhhhh," when he heard 911 being spoken. "Oh...."
Time did not slow, nor did it speed up, life did not flash in front of their eyes, it was right before them. "We'll be gucci gang, don't sweat it. This is just a lil ad break." He did not want to think about dying, always said he was too pretty to die so young, the thought of it didn't grip them with fear, he was in good hands, why worry? The happy-go-lucky, carefree attitude of theirs didn't have space for worrying about what would happen, no, despite it all, Mason only felt the present time. Also felt the pain spread but catching Rangi's tearful eyes he didn't mention it, just gripped her hand a little tighter as he reassured her. "Can you call my mum and ask her to pick me up?"
Lord make me a rainbow, I'll shine down on my mother She'll know I'm safe with you when she stands under my colours
As the sonic screams rang out, a scream of such servitude was caught in Neelam Mahir's throat. She sat bolt upright in bed, hand clutching her chest, wide-eyed panic filling her lungs and this strange feeling of wrongness. This pain, this fear felt a lot like a wave of grief about to hit, she didn't have to strain her ears to catch the wails of an imminent death in the air, she felt that in every fibre of her being. A connection to her own fading with each passing minute, yet she could not move, could not weep even, living on that false hope that maybe maybe her child just fell down, just injured themself a little more than normal...
But the call came, and the love she had left to give, the loss that made a hole in her chest spilled out from her eyes, her grief kicked up a heartbeat as Mason's stilled.
The wails of banshees dissipated and a mothers filled its place. Which was worse: the shock of what happened or the ache of things never to come?
Well, I've had just enough time
Hand dropped from Song's and he was shuffled into the ambulance, vision going fuzzy as all he saw were the auras of people, faces blurred but a kaleidoscope of colours danced in front drawing a pleasant a smile to the face. That's how he saw them all; bright shiny people. It was also the last sight the party-goers saw of them as doors shut. He didn't understand the sad faces, didn't know why Rangi was crying, he was just going away for a bit. Likely would heal himself after the docs had a go at them too, be right as rain in not time. But here was Rangi telling him not to go?
"I'm not going anywhere," he reassured her. Perhaps he began to feel the inevitable too, perhaps this was the end, but death was an adventure too. The life he had lived was on with laughter and love, and he wanted that to be reflected in this moment too if that were to be their last. "I'm just tired, babe, that's all." But the impact made speaking a little rough, words coarse and shallow, whatever was happening on inside their body Mason tried to make sense of with their Healing, but be it lack of energy, lack of focus, he couldn't figure it out and hands fell away limply. He nuzzled into her hand, struggling to keep eyes away as the vehicle zipped its way to the hospital, "Just... a lil tired."
Breathing came slowly, thoughts and speech slowing with it, "A lil nap...okay? Wake me up...later...g'night... love you."
12:23 am. Call it.
Go with peace and love Gather up your tears, keep 'em in your pocket Save 'em for a time when you're really gonna need 'em
THE END.

Every time I hear about a new development in cars I get more disappointed. Capacitive touch without a screen? Absolutely disgusting. Things I want in a car:
Steering wheel: Big, taken from a bus
![Tumblr media](https://64.media.tumblr.com/ee9fb3fa94107fbd2e889b29f70456f7/a341de55f453117f-59/s540x810/ffc8e68c45b9591f81f0387e6425b887b47d70a8.jpg)
Shift knob: Train throttle
![Tumblr media](https://64.media.tumblr.com/3fc55fb07b5b278d6bbee915f28571f7/a341de55f453117f-6d/s540x810/14a23c2596948697d6b7c5a9c07fd64f507a7663.jpg)
Parking brake (redundant braking systems don't require an emergency brake):
Clock:
AC fan control:
AC temperature adjustment: (3 position marine toggle switch that returns to center)
![Tumblr media](https://64.media.tumblr.com/424956e85b447e1016c8fdebbb460e44/a341de55f453117f-d0/s540x810/1e17a36b1acc002f60cf05ca4341732ac3418aec.jpg)
By no means a complete list, add your own. Perhaps instead of a breathalyzer, you have to score 20 on bop it. All I'm saying is that a car is a tool and tools should feel so natural to use that they become a part of the worker, moving together and enhancing one a other's skills. A smith is just as incapable of shaping metal as a hammer is of swinging itself. The two must agree to move as one for a mutual goal

How SINAMICS G120 Drives Enhance Energy Efficiency in Industrial Applications?
It is a modular drive system from Siemens that has been used widely in different industries, having made its way into people’s minds reluctantly. The SINAMICS G120 is a remarkably strong and multifunctional device. The author would elaborate on this subject through this post.
What is the SINAMICS G120?
Designed for use in a variety of industrial applications, the SINAMICS G120 is a modular, general-purpose drive system. It is one of the SINAMICS collections from Siemens which are reputed for their functionality, versatility and ease to integrate. Particularly applications that need accuracy and power saving consider this type of drive because it can be used on simple conveyer belts as well as sophisticated production systems.
![Tumblr media](https://64.media.tumblr.com/a01376b648bffe8b9b34dea5a40ed8f8/a8365db066d5c83a-e7/s400x600/352e9b8e9d22d71b1663e34289ab2e6cb92a749b.jpg)
Key Features of the SINAMICS G120
Modular Design: The modularity of the SINAMICS G120 Drive is one of its most outstanding features. The drive system consists of three main components:
Power Module (PM): It takes the incoming AC voltage which is then converted into DC followed by a variable AC output for motor control.
Control Unit (CU): Controls the motor and interface of the other automated systems.
Optional Modules: such as Communication modules, input filters, braking resistors, etc.
This kind of modularity ensures that systems can be customized for individual applications while offering flexible ways to configure them, make upgrades, and perform maintenance work.
Safety Integration: Industrial measures have placed safety at the very beginning of their priority lists, hence G120 Power Module has it all including built-in safety functions. Like in any system but example given here is purely indicative – Safe Torque Off (STO), Safe Stop 1(SS1) & Safe Brake Control (SBC); these functions enable proper and sure cut-off of the motor during emergencies. These precautions meet global standards therefore giving us assurance during vulnerable situations.
Energy Efficiency: The SINAMICS G120 is designed to keep energy efficiency in focus. Some of its features include regenerative feedback where energy is returned back to supply during braking and eco mode which optimizes drive power consumption according to the loading conditions. Thus, these features will not only lower operational costs, but they also contribute towards a reduced carbon footprint.
Versatile Communication Options: In contemporary industrial surroundings that are connected to each other, smooth communication among devices is very important. The Drive G120 accepts diverse communication protocols such as PROFINET, PROFIBUS, EtherNet/IP, and Modbus. This feature enables it to fit into any automation system seamlessly despite different standards of communication being utilized.
User-Friendly Interface: The SINAMICS G120 has an advantage of use. It comes equipped with a Basic Operator Panel (BOP) or an Intelligent Operator Panel (IOP) depending on how it is configured. These panels have a clear display and intuitive operation which makes the setup process, monitoring and troubleshooting simple. Moreover, robust tools for configuration and parameterization are provided by the STARTER commissioning software as well as by SINAMICS Startdrive tool within the TIA Portal.
Applications of SINAMICS G120
The SINAMICS G120’s high degree of flexibility qualifies it for numerous applications like:
Pumps and Fans: The G120 enhances the operation of pumps and fans by means of accurate speed regulation thereby minimizing energy usage while prolonging the lifespan of equipment.
Conveyors: In the field of manufacturing processes and material transportation within an area, G120 always guarantees seamless and effective running despite changes that happen to weights involved.
Mixers and Agitators: Since it can cope with fluctuating velocities and torques, this is also why it is best suited for organizations that use it in food and beverage production, chemicals industry, as well as those engaged in the manufacture of pharmaceuticals.
Compressors: The SINAMICS G120 is a dependable and energy-saving regulator for applications where constant pressure and flow are vital.
Why Choose SINAMICS G120?
For its blend of effectiveness, versatility and simplicity, the G120 Power Module is something to be reckoned with. With its modular design, it can easily be configured for specific applications; the built-in safety features and power efficiency make it a wise solution for organizations that want to improve their processes. In addition, there are multiple pathways for communication so that it fits effortlessly into an automated setting.
Conclusion
To sum up, the Drive G120 is not simply a drive; it is an adaptable, dependable and effective answer for a variety of industrial uses. The SINAMICS G120 is an incredibly powerful device that can be used to achieve energy efficiency improvements, increase safety or provide accurate and smooth control of your processes.
Investing in the SINAMICS G120 means investing in a system that can adapt continuously to the changing requirements of your company and thus providing you with performance and reliability necessary for staying ahead in the highly competitive arena of industrial automation.

Fundamentals of the Cast
Understanding the basics is crucial before delving into precise techniques. Here are some regular casting standards to keep in mind:
1. Direction of the Lure
The entice follows the route in which the rod tip moved simply earlier than the cast modified into stopped.
2. Loading the Rod
Start the cast slowly, boost up, and attain the most tempo before stopping the rod to efficiently load it. Avoid beginning the forged too quickly, as it could lead to the entice transferring too quickly and now not pulling on the rod completely.
three. Utilizing Rod Power
Abruptly forestall the rod without decreasing the quit from the goal line to use all of the strength stored in a loaded rod. Lengthen your casting stroke to increase the rod’s loading capability.
The Grip
A proper grip is critical for minimizing slack and making sure a hit is made.
Long-distance flycasters keep rods and line hands close together to prevent slack. When casting a spinning rod, use a finger grip in the front of and behind the reel stem. Wear a golfing glove while casting heavy lures to keep away from line-cutting your finger.
The Slingshot Stance
Achieving an exceptional stance is crucial for the greatest casting distance. Follow these steps:
Place your non-dominant foot ahead, shoulder-width apart. Bend your knees barely, rotate your hips and shoulders, and position the rod tip without delay again. Shift weight to the other foot, ensuring proper weight distribution.
The Cast

Accelerate the rod with the aid of pushing it up with your proper hand and pulling it down with your left. Stop the rod at approximately eleven o’clock, releasing the road with all weight on the front foot.
Achieving Extra Distance
When extra distance is wanted, adopt strategies from fly-casters:
Hold the rod at some stage in your body with the proper arm three-quarters prolonged. Extend the casting stroke, much like spey-casting. Shift the burden lower again, pass the rod tip up and lower back in an oval circle, and transition into the slingshot stance.
Setting the Hook
With your trap at a greater distance, alter your hook-placing approach:
Hold the rod throughout your frame even as retrieving the entice. Balance the rod on your proper hand to combat fatigue. When you feel a strike, issue the rod towards the entice, absorb slack, and execute a powerful hook set.

Dude you just put into words exactly how I felt about the album
I really liked it, but after The World series (which I cannot pick one favorite album for my life, they're just that good) the bar for me was exponentially high because that era and it's sound was so so up my alley
I also understand and love that they're entering a new era, lore and sound wise I'd think, and I'm ready for anything they come out with, but for the moment The World remains as my favorite c:
(but also Blind has me moving every single time, my Latina heart is about to combust, and Siren?!?! Nah I really love it)
no exactly this comeback is underwhelming
and i think i saw a post or an ask or an answer saying smth along the lines of "oh maybe this comeback is not full potential bc ateez was at coachella and they don't have much time to prepare" like excuse me ?? i'll break down how PROBLEMATIC that statement is bc wth
1. let's not kid ourselves, we judge other groups' comebacks and we pride ateez for giving it their all which they do, they absolutely do even in this comeback and it's unfortunate that this time it's a miss. do not lower the standard for ateez just because they're your fave because that's disrespectful to their potential and their dedication. they could've done better and even if it was because they were stretched so thin due to their US schedules, it could be a lesson to them that when they don't pull back even for a bit to breathe, their work suffers
2. coachella took 2 days spanning over 2 weekends in which practice were done in intervals and the frequency only intensified nearing the performance dates so they had PLENTY of time to prepare. this include music production, album planning, execution planning, etc etc that might or might not include ateez. year end shows are more intensive than coachella appearance and hey crazy form came out perfectly and they had like different stages to prepare
3. if one performance disturbs a group that a portion of its dedicated supporters deem it's a fun bop but lacking, then LOGICALLY SPEAKING that means it's time to pull the brakes on oversea activities and just stay in korea to refocus. that being said, i don't agree with this, i want them to grow hence i stated that a group releasing a miss is normal, it's a dynamic, it's proof of authenticity and organic development.
for a group who had such achievements, fans don't need to create excuses because all that does is just saying "they became lazy, they just put out anything to reach the target date" and i don't believe that whatsoever.

Sliding Mechanic Rework
Over the last week (08/03/2024 - 14/03/2024) I've been developing a different version of the current sliding mechanic as I found it still had quite a few issues which needed to be resolved.
Regular Crouching
The first thing I wanted to try was creating the ability to just normally crouch without it just activating the slide. What I tried to originally do was have it so that you needed to be sprinting to be able to slide. I thought this made sense as with real Parkour you need to build up momentum to be able to do these stunts and moves. I set this up using Booleans which were activated if the character was sprinting or not. This would then go into a branch which would check if you were sprinting when the crouch key was pressed and if you were then the code would know if it needed to start sliding or if false then just crouch. This only half worked though which was frustrating as the crouching wouldn't work from the timeline and cause the character to bop up and down really fast. I then knew I was going to have to rethink how I was going to make the character crouch. I kept the true part of the branch for sprinting but disconnected all the false links to the crouching timeline. I then thought about using the built in Unreal crouching Components instead and this did actually work great. UNTIL I tried sliding on a flat ground which caused that whole chain of code to not work and cancel itself immediately? I then thought I must have to include some more Boolean branches in areas and messed about trying them in the separate crouching code and the sliding code but neither worked. I then decided that this was going to become too problematic to continue trying to solve and fit into my schedule for a mechanic that isn't really needed for my game to actually work. If I decided later down the line if I have time to have a go at it again then I will, but for now I'm done looking into that for the minute.
Braking Deceleration When Sliding Button Released
As you know from my previous video I made on my sliding. I have a bit of code that is triggered when you are sliding that will slow you down faster if you release the sliding buttons mid slide. This I found has been a big part of a lot of my problems such as: Sliding Camera not rotating, Sliding not initialising due to code delays being in place, Camera rotator flickering due to code clipping etc. The way I found out this bit of code was the problem was literally by simply disconnecting it all. After that my sliding works far far better now with only a couple of issues which I solved later. This then prompted the idea in my mind of just not using this code before as it no longer made sense to me really. In real life parkour you cant just be sliding down a slope and say "nah I'm gonna stop now" mid slide, that just doesn't work. This has now simplified my code down far more than it previously was making it far more accessible.
Removed code:
Sliding Up Hill Gradual Deceleration
After solving my many sliding bugs I had the idea to introduce a new feature which would be having the player keep their momentum if they had been sliding down a hill then up a hill which would gradually dwindle down until they stopped and then started going backwards. To go about doing this I just reused my sliding down code with a slight few changes such as setting the sliding down value to initially start at the current player speed. This was to stop any jarring movements or random boosts which I had previously encountered with the sliding down code. The code pretty much would pick between two different lines of code if it detected that you had been going at a certain speed. This is what that looked like:
I thought this was a great Idea until I found the Big issue. The problem was that sometimes if you were sliding on a flat surface and clipped a corner of something then it would think "Oh he must be sliding backwards lets launch him backwards really fast and not stop". For a work around I tried the only thing I could think of and that was to lower the flat surface sliding speed but no matter how low I put it the issue still persisted. I then came to another bad result of just abandoning this idea unless I think of a work around in the future.
Standing Up When not Possible
The final problem to tackle was to stop the player character from standing up underneath a slope when they shouldn't be able to. I had to look into my previous projects code on how you went about stopping this from happening. I found I was going to need to make a custom function and had to create a custom float variable which was set to the value of the capsules half height off of the event begin play. The function works by shooting out a line trace which checks if the capsule component has enough room above it to undo the half height
^ The only problem I had with this which I had to hop onto an unreal forum for was converting this function into a nav component. I found I had to check a box to turn it into a pure function and another to turn it into a const function allowing me to target 'self'.
Now that was setup I had to just implement it into the camera revert code lines on the event tick. I decided to put it before the sequence meaning that I didn't have to waste time having more than one of them.
Side Note Addition: I updated the map during testing of the standing up sliding bug to help me figure it out
Evaluation
Evaluation: this was definitely the most time consuming part of the project so far with many different issues and problems that weren't solved but more so removed. I feel getting this done early in the project though was essential to establishing that Polish to the later end result. In the future though I am going to aim to keep the code simpler and working initially rather than persisting with keep adding to it while known issues exist.

The Lonely Stop
Standing on the sidewalk, I could hear the revving of the cars passing by mixed with car honks and the horn of the train blowing in the distance. The people hastily driving past the streetlight to their respective destinations, the pedestrians bopping to their music in their headphones, and those sitting waiting for the train caught up in their thoughts oblivious to the city singing its tune. The surrounding mixture of the station lights overhead and the headlights of the ongoing cars seemed busy compared to the dark city surrounding this location.
The towering historic structures above were dark and quiet, almost as if they were asleep, their normal inhabitants gone for the day. Although despite their life seeming to have bled away into the nightlife, some buildings seemed to thrive! They weren’t right next to me since this train stop was tucked away into its private strip but, they were close enough to see in the horizon, past this quiet district. Unlike the bright obnoxious lights at this train stop, these buildings' neon lights and animated screens that adorned them were the center of attention. A beautiful contrast against the night sky, the light of these buildings bounced off the dark grey clouds that surrounded them, giving the illusion of them glowing.
It was a wonderful scene, although the peace that I felt standing at this stop was more comforting. Simply standing, and waiting, listening to this city's song, the cracks in the sidewalk telling its own story of the hundreds of travelers that have passed through here in its time running. Just like the sidewalk the ironwork of the seats and signs had signs of rust, their paint chipped away after years of people's touch., some lights further down the way flickered, fighting for life. The rattling of the stops’ structure and the tired squealing of the train's brakes seemed to break the trance of the people around, hurried footsteps leaving their rooted spots and huddling to where the train doors opened.
It was not my train, so my trio were the stops’ remaining travelers, but when our train eventually came. I couldn’t help but look at that lonely stop through the train window, no travelers keeping it company and seeming to be trapped in a time before this one.
