Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
My birthday is very soon, so I thought of doing an analysis of my solar return chart, which starts the day before my birthday, so August 5th. I hope you can enjoy this post! I will focus on conjunctions or important aspects mostly here, I don't want the post to be too long. If you see an aspect that hasn't been mentions and would like to give your opinion, feel free to do it in the comments ^^

A Solar Return Chart (SRC) is an astrological predictive tool that enable you to discover what will happen for you during the year of your birthday. It is based on the return of your Sun, so your Sun will have the same exact position as in your Natal Chart.
Tumblr media
⋆⭒˚。⋆ Sun 10H means focus on this year is on career, popularity and success in those areas. I can be more popular and achieve a certain level of fame this year. I can also be more successful in my career and perhaps more known in it too. I can make a name for myself.
⋆⭒˚。⋆ Moon 10H means I'll be more connected to my work emotionally. But that also means caring more about my work. I'll be very focused on my career. I can also be prone to stress more about my career this year. This placement also suggests emotions based on work. But it means my emotions will be public too. Also working from home.
⋆⭒˚。⋆ Mercury 10H means I can write more for work, I can communicate more also at work or for work. I'll talk a lot about work, or ideas perhaps too. A time to work online a lot, and I can also communicate a lot with clients. I can be talked about more this year for my career, or even reputation matters too.
⋆⭒˚。⋆ Virgo Mercury can mean expressing ourselves in a very logical and analytical way this year. Mercury in Virgo makes us talk in a more serious tone, or just more detailed one too. There are less emotions, meaning we also express ourselves based on what is more logical to do, and less based on how we feel.
⋆⭒˚。⋆ Venus 10H means big success in my career this year! Recognition will def happen. It can mean also I will love what I do for living this year. This can also mean meeting more people related to my job, and make more friends who are coworkers. And this can also mean having more connections too.

Last time I had a Venus Return was when I met my FS.

⋆⭒˚。⋆ Juno conjunct Union can mean meeting or being in union with a romantic partner.
⋆⭒˚。⋆ Venus sextile Boda, this is a wedding indicator lol, but if I see something related to wedding happening that year it's more a proposal than an actual wedding ;-;
⋆⭒˚。⋆ Saturn conjunct Neptune can be a sign of self doubt, and I have this placement in 5H, so this can make me insecure related to my love life, or I can feel insecure and it can create obstacles in my love life. It can also mean me being doubtful or my imagination and creativity. And I can also doubt about things in my love life.
⋆⭒˚。⋆ Uranus conjunct DSC means something will change about my love life.

⋆⭒˚。⋆ Mars conjunct Groom can be a sign of having s3x with your FS. But it can also mean there will be fights with them too.
⋆⭒˚。⋆ Vertex conjunct Groom can be a sign of meeting FS but also of having some important moments happening with FS. Usually the years where you have that placement, you can encounter and spend time with your FS.
⋆⭒˚。⋆ Sun conjunct MC means being the center of attention this year, being seen and noticed a lot. People will just focus on me.
⋆⭒˚。⋆ Scorpio 2H can mean spending more money or making more money this year. I can either be obsessed with my belongings, or I can just spend more because I make money.
⋆⭒˚。⋆ Capricorn 3H can mean being more serious about the way I speak and express myself, but also more dedicated too. I can also speak a lot about work.
⋆⭒˚。⋆ Aquarius 4H means relationship with family members can change, evolve. I can also move, something will be different about my home and family than the previous years. Something will change, and perhaps a new family member can come (marriage, in laws, babies, etc.)
⋆⭒˚。⋆ Pisces 5H can mean very creative and romantic this year.
⋆⭒˚。⋆ Aries 6H means more energies to my routine, and being very busy this year.
⋆⭒˚。⋆ Taurus 7H means finding love is more possible, since I have a Venus sign over the 7H. But it can make me attract serious and long term relationships this year.
⋆⭒˚。⋆ Taurus 8H can mean I can be less worried about money this year. I am also more chill.
⋆⭒˚。⋆ Cancer 9H, I don't think I'll travel much this year. I could still, but it won't perhaps be too much in foreign lands. If I do travel in foreign lands, it can be perhaps related to homes, so I could live in foreign lands eventually. But it doesn't seem like a big placement.

͏͏⏤ ☆ sung hanbin / 성한빈
you and hanbin would be “rivals” while working at a cafe. like when you guys are told to sell certain items on the menu you guys try and get more than the other. you start catching feelings for him when one day he defended you while getting yelled at by your boss.
͏͏⏤ ☆ kim jiwoong / 김지웅
you and jiwoong would be labeled as competing actors because you guys both were actors on hit dramas, the nets would compare characters / actors and you guys would get compared more than the others. so when you guys both landed a role on the same show you kind of had an image already set for him, you just saw him as your rival because of all the talk online. but when you found out that your characters would end up being a side relationship you were taken aback, but as filming happened you slowly fell in love with his personality.
͏͏⏤ ☆ zhang hao / 章昊
you and hao were popular among the music scene, while hao was getting invited to play at a bunch of weddings, you were getting invited to play at a bunch of birthday parties. you started to see him as a rival when people started to book him instead of you, your clients would message you saying “I’m so sorry y/n, can we cancel you?” and then on the day of the event you’d see photos of hao from the attendees who were crushing on him. you started to feel attracted to him when he was booked for a wedding of a friend, you could see how passionate he was while playing the violin and that hooked you in.
͏͏⏤ ☆ seok matthew / 석매튜
you had just found matthew annoying, for like no given reason…you just liked being a little hater and didnt understand why ppl were fawning over him. he knew you didn’t take much of a liking to him so he would purposely annoy you more. when he had gone back to korea you actually missed his annoyance.
͏͏⏤ ☆ kim taerae / 김태래
taerae and you were always fighting over the top two spots in a game that was currently popular. you guys would always juggle between the first and second spot. it irked both of you guys so much that even the sight of each other or the sound of e/o’s voice pissed you guys off. it’s only when you guys suddenly get placed into the same teams on another game is when you guys got close. learning that it’s pretty fun to play games with one another.
͏͏⏤ ☆ shen quanrui / 沈泉锐
you were honestly just jealous of the attention ricky got that it made you hate him. he had everyone loving him and you just didn’t understand it. you knew deep down that it was js pure jealousy but one day when ricky is your assigned partner you learn how soft spoken and sweet he could be, slowly understanding why he’s the center of the attention.
͏͏⏤ ☆ kim gyuvin / 김규빈
you hated how loud and chaotic gyuvin was. you were introverted and hated loud distractions. gyuvin and his friends would be at the library trying to study but they end up just goofing off. this made you grow a hatred for him because of how inconsiderate he was being. but when you are assigned to tutor him you find it kind of endearing on how clueless he was about a certain subject, but tried his best to understand it.
͏͏⏤ ☆ park gunwook / 박건욱
you guys were constantly up against each other academically. you guys were the schools best students and always fought for the top spot. you hated how he ‘stole’ the class president spot from you js because everyone found him charming and attractive. you had some personal problems going on, causing your grades to drop drastically. gunwook noticed this as your teachers would scold you. he thought you looked hopeless so he wanted to help you catch up, that’s when you started to learn how kind the boy is, definitely deserving the class president spot.
͏͏⏤ ☆ han yujin / 한유진
you and yujin would bicker all the time for no reason. one day two bickered while a lesson was going on and both got detention, your teacher making you guys sit next to each other and finish a worksheet tgt in hopes you’d get along by the end. you both were stubborn as hell … it took you guys a while to actually start on the worksheet but you guys learned that you can work well that day.

Murderbot Citations
I'm writing a giant research paper on the murderbot diaries and how Wells contrasts utopia & dystopia in her worldbuilding to deepen both sets of lore. So, I have made a LOT of citations.
Like, a LOT of citations. I can't even begin to describe. and it has been a royal pain getting them all on the computer, formatted correctly, with page # and book attached.
So. I decided to publish my giant list of citations online in case anyone else wants to do posts/papers/projects on the murderbot diaries and needs formatted, direct quotes with page numbers attached. (Also to feel like all this work has been for more than just my own academic needs.)
TLDR: A compilation of quotes from The Murderbot Diaries with page numbers attached, ready to be adjusted to the citation style of your choice & used as in-text citations where you see fit to put them. Enjoy!
ASR = All Systems Red
AC = Artificial Condition
RP = Rogue Protocol
ES = Exit Strategy
NE = Network Effect
FT = Fugitive Telemetry
SC = System Collapse
I use 'mb' as shorthand for murderbot
It's mostly ASR, with some NE and FT thrown in, but I put all the abbreviations in case I wind up coming back and putting more citations here
My list is organized according to how I'm writing the paper (all ones about surveillance here, all the ones about contract slavery there, etc.), so the page numbers are not in order, and there might be a repeat or two, but they are in book order. some of them might be repeated bc I had them formatted in lists like "all quotes related to ___) and some quotes relate to multiple things.
if you're looking specifically for gender-related mb quotes, @worldsentwined made a wonderful post collecting them a while back. I also have a few other murderbot posts that have quotes in them that might not be here, including a reblog where a bunch of lovely people added extra citations onto my original post. I hope you find what you're looking for!
All Systems Red
“I had been on contracts where the clients would have told me to put the bleeding human down to go get the stuff.” (15) ASR
“There were groans and general complaining about having to pay high prices for shitty equipment. (I don’t take it personally.)” (31) ASR crossover w slavery
“My education modules were such cheap crap;” (34) ASR
“I’m not refundable.” (49) ASR
“(You had to check everything out and log any problems immediately when you took delivery or the company wasn’t liable.)” (52) ASR
“It was all company equipment though, per contract, and all subject to the same malfunctions as the crap they’d dumped on us.” (58) ASR
““The company could be bribed to conceal the existence of several hundred survey teams on this planet.” Survey teams, whole cities, lost colonies, traveling circuses, as long as they thought they could get away with it. I just didn’t see how they could get away with making a client survey team—two client survey teams—vanish. Or why they’d want to. There were too many bond companies out there, too many competitors. Dead clients were terrible for business. “I don’t think the company would collude with one set of clients to kill two other sets of clients. You purchased a bond agreement that the company would guarantee your safety or pay compensation in the event of your death or injury. Even if the company couldn’t be held liable or partially liable for your deaths, they would still have to make the payment to your heirs. DeltFall was a large operation. The death payout for them alone will be huge.” And the company hated to spend money.” (90) ASR
“The organic parts mostly sleep, but not always. You know something’s happening. They were trying to purge my memory. We’re too expensive to destroy.” (116) ASR
“The company required this as a security feature if you wanted your base to be anywhere without open terrain around it. It cost extra, and if you didn’t want it, it cost even more to guarantee your bond.” (124) ASR
“Okay, the problem is, I’ve mentioned this before, the company is cheap. When it comes to something like a beacon that just has to launch once if there’s an emergency, send a transmission through the wormhole, and then never gets retrieved, they’re very cheap.” (137) ASR
“I said, “This unit is at minimal functionality and it is recommended that you discard it.” It’s an automatic reaction triggered by catastrophic malfunction…. “Your contract allows—” “Shut up,” Mensah snapped.” (139) ASR
“…we’re cheaply produced and we suck. Nobody would hire one of us for non-murdering purposes unless they had to.” (34) ASR
“In a smart world, I should go alone, but with the governor module I had to be within a hundred meters of at least one of the clients at all times, or it would fry me.” (37) ASR
“I walked out a little way, past a couple of the lakes, almost expecting to see something under the surface. Dead bodies, maybe. I’d seen plenty of those (and caused plenty of those) on past contracts, but this one had been dead-body-lacking, so far. It made for a nice change.” (44) ASR
“This is how we fight: throw ourselves at each other and see whose parts give out first.” (69) ASR
““Dr. Mensah,” I said, “this is a violation of security priority and I am contractually obligated to record this for report to the company—” It was in the buffer and the rest of my brain was empty.” (73) ASR
“The DeltFall SecUnits hadn’t been rogues, they had been inserted with combat override modules. The modules allow personal control over a SecUnit, turn it from a mostly autonomous construct into a gun puppet. The feed would be cut off, control would be over the comm, but functionality would depend on how complex the orders were. “Kill the humans” isn’t a complex order.” (75) ASR
““Because if the company wanted to sabotage you, they would have poisoned your supplies using the recycling systems. The company is more likely to kill you by accident.”” (81) ASR
“I said, “I did not hack my governor module to kill my clients. My governor module malfunctioned because the stupid company only buys the cheapest possible components. It malfunctioned and I lost control of my systems and I killed them. The company retrieved me and installed a new governor module. I hacked it so it wouldn’t happen again.” (81) ASR
"“Do they really expect to get away with this?” Ratthi turned to me, like he was expecting an answer.” (105)
““They may believe the company and whoever your beneficiaries are won’t look any further than the rogue SecUnits. But they can’t make two whole survey teams disappear unless their corporate or political entity doesn’t care about them. Does DeltFall’s care? Does yours?” (105) ASR
“Freehold meant it had been terraformed and colonized but wasn’t affiliated with any corporate confederations. Basically freehold generally meant shitshow so I hadn’t been expecting much from them. But they were surprisingly easy to work for.” (26) ASR
“The other good thing about my hacked governor module is that I could ignore the governor’s instructions to defend the stupid company.” (48) ASR
“I had a moment to feel betrayed, which was stupid. Volescu was my client, and I’d saved his life because that was my job, not because I liked him.” (79-80) ASR
“One saw me and Ratthi and said, “Again, this is irregular. Purging the unit’s memory before it changes hands isn’t just a policy, it’s best for the—” (143) ASR
“Maybe it would work out. This was what I was supposed to want. This was what everything had always told me I was supposed to want. Supposed to want.” (147) ASR
“Murderbots aren’t allowed to ride with the humans and I had to have verbal permission to enter. With my cracked governor there was nothing to stop me, but not letting anybody, especially the people who held my contract, know that I was a free agent was kind of important. Like, not having my organic components destroyed and the rest of me cut up for parts important.” (14) ASR
“I’m always supposed to speak respectfully to the clients, even when they’re about to accidentally commit suicide. HubSystem could log it and it could trigger punishment through the governor module.” (15) ASR
“…if it monitored the governor module and my feed like it was supposed to, it could lead to a lot of awkward questions and me being stripped for parts.” (31) ASR
“I had worked for some contracts that would have kept me standing here the entire day and night cycle, just on the off chance they wanted me to do something and didn’t want to bother using the feed to call me.” (33) ASR
“I don’t know why I was dancing around the word. Maybe because I thought she didn’t want to hear it. She’d just shot a heavily armed SecUnit with a mining drill to get me back; presumably she wanted to keep me.” (76) ASR
“Then Mensah said quietly, “SecUnit, do you have a name?” I wasn’t sure what she wanted. “No.” “It calls itself ‘Murderbot,’” Gurathin said." (82) ASR
“To them, talking to me was like talking to a hopper or a piece of mining equipment.” (127) ASR
“I know I said SecUnits aren’t sentimental about each other, but I wished it wasn’t one of the DeltFall units. It was in there somewhere, trapped in its own head, maybe aware, maybe not. Not that it matters. None of us had a choice.” (132) ASR
“Guardian was a nicer word than owner.” (148) ASR
“I’ve purchased your contract.” (145) ASR
“He said, “Good news! Dr. Mensah has permanently bought your contract! You’re coming home with us!” (141) ASR
“I’m off inventory.” They had told me that and maybe it was true.” (145) ASR
“SecSystem records everything, even inside the sleeping cabins, and I see everything.” (30) ASR
“I was supposed to check their personal logs periodically in case they were plotting to defraud the company or murder each other or something…” (57) ASR
“One of the reasons the bond company requires it, besides slapping more expensive markups on their clients, is that I was recording all their conversations all the time, though I wasn’t monitoring anything I didn’t need to do a half-assed version of my job. But the company would access all those recordings and data mine them for anything they could sell. No, they don’t tell people that. Yes, everyone does know it. No, there’s nothing you can do about it.” (27-28) ASR
“Now they knew their murderbot didn’t want to be around them any more than they wanted to be around it. I’d given a tiny piece of myself away. That can’t happen. I have too much to hide, and letting one piece go means the rest isn’t as protected.” (33-34) ASR
“No one would be shooting at me because they didn’t shoot people there. Mensah didn’t need a bodyguard there; nobody did. It sounded like a great place to live, if you were a human or augmented human.” (146) ASR
“If there’s a chance we can save lives, we have to take it,” Pin-Lee agreed.” (57) ASR
“They were the first clients I’d had who hadn’t had any previous experience with SecUnits” (40) ASR
““You have to think of it as a person,” Pin-Lee said to Gurathin.” (95) ASR
“”It is a person,” Arada insisted.” “I do think of it as a person,” Gurathin said. “An angry, heavily armed person who has no reason to trust us.” “Then stop being mean to it,” Ratthi told him. “That might help.”” (96) ASR
“Overse added, “It doesn’t want to interact with humans. And why should it? You know how constructs are treated, especially in corporate-political environments.”” (107) ASR
“”You know, in Preservation-controlled territory, bots are considered full citizens. A construct would fall under the same category.” He said this in the tone of giving me a hint. Whatever. Bots who are “full citizens” still have to have a human or augmented human guardian appointed, usually their employer; I’d seen it on the news feeds.” (112) ASR
“Ratthi smiled at the console. “Because Dr. Mensah is our political entity.” He made a little gesture, turning his hand palm up. “We’re from Preservation Alliance, one of the non-corporate system entities. Dr. Mensah is the current admin director on the steering committee. It’s an elected position, with a limited term. But one of the principles of our home is that our admins must also continue their regular work, whatever it is. Her regular work required this survey, so here she is, and here we are.”” (111) ASR
“Ratthi came over to see if I was all right, and I asked him to tell me about Preservation and how Mensah lived there. He said when she wasn’t doing admin work, she lived on a farm outside the capital city, with two marital partners, plus her sister and brother and their three marital partners, and a bunch of relatives and kids who Ratthi had lost count of.” (147) ASR
“Ratthi sighed. “Oh, yes, they know. You would not believe what we had to pay to guarantee the bond on the survey. These corporate arseholes are robbers.”” (112) ASR
““Because the scanners suck corporation balls,” Pin-Lee muttered.” (42) ASR
“Of course I need you. I have no experience in anything like this. None of us do. Sometimes humans can’t help but let emotion bleed through into the feed. She was furious and frightened, not at me, at the people who would do this, kill like this,” (107-108) ASR
“I said, “This unit is at minimal functionality and it is recommended that you discard it.” It’s an automatic reaction triggered by catastrophic malfunction. Also, I really didn’t want them to try to move me because it hurt bad enough the way it was. “Your contract allows—” “Shut up,” Mensah snapped. “You shut the fuck up. We’re not leaving you.”” (139) ASR
"I had flashes off and on. The inside of the little hopper, my humans talking, Arada holding my hand." (140) ASR
“We had a problem at the hatch of the big hopper where Mensah wanted to get in last and I wanted to get in last. As a compromise, I grabbed her around the waist and swung us both up into the hatch as the ramp pulled in after us. I set her on her feet and she said, “Thank you, SecUnit,” while the others stared.” (99) ASR
““I know you’re more comfortable with keeping your helmet opaque, but the situation has changed. We need to see you.”” (103) ASR
““It’s usually better if humans think of me as a robot,” I said.” (103) ASR
““Maybe, under normal circumstances.” She was looking a little off to one side, not trying to make eye contact, which I appreciated. “But this situation is different. It would be better if they could think of you as a person who is trying to help. Because that’s how I think of you.” My insides melted. That’s the only way I could describe it. After a minute, when I had my expression under control, I cleared the face plate and had it and the helmet fold back into my armor. She said, “Thank you,” and I followed her up into the hopper.” (104) ASR
“They were saying things like I didn’t even know it had a face.” (21) ASR
“Arada and Pin-Lee didn’t try to talk to me, and Ratthi actually looked away when I eased past him to get to the cockpit. They were all so careful not to look at me or talk to me directly that as soon as we were in the air I did a quick spot check through HubSystem’s records of their conversations.” (39) ASR
“They had talked it over and all agreed not to “push me any further than I wanted to go” and they were all so nice and it was just excruciating.” (40) ASR
“That was when I realized they weren’t ignoring the possibility of sabotage.” (43) ASR
“This is why I didn’t want to come. I’ve got four perfectly good humans here and I didn’t want them to get killed by whatever took out DeltFall. It’s not like I cared about them personally, but it would look bad on my record, and my record was already pretty terrible.” (60) ASR
“It was nice having a human smart enough to work with like this.” (67) ASR
“I do a half-assed job sometimes, okay, most of the time, but Pin-Lee had checked, too, and she was thorough.” (71) ASR
“It was starting to occur to me that Dr. Mensah might actually be an intrepid galactic explorer, even if she didn’t look like the ones on the entertainment feed.” (73) ASR
“I hoped they hadn’t been stupid about it, too soft-hearted to kill me.” (77) ASR
“My clients are the best clients.” (78) ASR
“But I think the fact that the Unit has been acting to preserve our lives, to take care of us, while it was a free agent, gives us even more reason to trust it.”” (80) ASR
“Overse sounded mad. “It told us about the combat module, it told us to kill it. Why the hell would it do that if it wanted to hurt us?”” (81) ASR
“Before anyone else could move, Mensah said, calm and even, “SecUnit, I’d appreciate it if you put Gurathin down, please.” She’s a really good commander. I’m going to hack her file and put that in. If she’d gotten angry, shouted, let the others panic, I don’t know what would have happened.” (84-85) ASR
“She continued, “I would like you to remain part of our group, at least until we get off this planet and back to a place of safety. At that point, we can discuss what you’d like to do. But I swear to you, I won’t tell the company, or anyone outside this room, anything about you or the broken module.”” (86) ASR
“Of course she had to say that. What else could she do. I tried to decide whether to believe it or not, or whether it mattered, when I was hit by a wave of I don’t care. And I really didn’t. I said, “Okay.”” (86) ASR
““We have to shut it down, or it’s going to kill us.” Then he winced and looked at me. “Sorry, I meant HubSystem.”” (86-87) ASR
“Then Arada came up and patted my shoulder. “I’m sorry. This must be very upsetting. After what that other Unit did to you . . . Are you all right?” That was too much attention. I turned around and walked into the corner, facing away from them.” (87) ASR
“I should keep my mouth shut, keep them thinking of me as their normal obedient SecUnit, stop reminding them what I was. But I wanted them to be careful.” (92) ASR
““If a strange survey group landed here, all friendly, saying they had just arrived, and oh, we’ve had an equipment failure or our MedSystem’s down and we need help, you would let them in. Even if I told you not to, that it was against company safety protocol, you’d do it.” Not that I’m bitter, or anything. A lot of the company’s rules are stupid or just there to increase profit, but some of them are there for a good reason.” (92-93) ASR
[I cited this whole conversation bc I wasn't sure exactly what bits I wanted to use. apologies for the giant block text.]
“Ratthi’s expression was troubled. “But surely . . . It’s clear you have feelings—”” (54)
“She looked up, frowning. “Ratthi, what are you doing?” Ratthi shifted guiltily. “I know Mensah asked us not to, but—” He waved a hand. “You saw it.” Overse pulled her interface off. “You’re upsetting it,” she said, teeth gritted. “That’s my point!” He gestured in frustration. “The practice is disgusting, it’s horrible, it’s slavery. This is no more a machine than Gurathin is—” Exasperated, Overse said, “And you don’t think it knows that?” I’m supposed to let the clients do and say whatever they want to me and with an intact governor module I wouldn’t have a choice.” (54) ASR
“I’m also not supposed to snitch on clients to anybody except the company, but it was either that or jump out the hatch. I sent the conversation into the feed tagged for Mensah. From the cockpit, she shouted, “Ratthi! We talked about this!” I slid out of the seat and went to the back of the hopper, as far away as I could get, facing the supply lockers and the head. It was a mistake; it wasn’t a normal thing for a SecUnit with an intact governor module to do, but they didn’t notice. “I’ll apologize,” Ratthi was saying. “No, just leave it alone,” Mensah told him. “That would just make it worse,” Overse added.” (55) ASR
Network Effect
“Humans in the Preservation alliance didn't have to sign up for contract labor and get shipped off to mines or whatever for 80 to 90 percent of their lifespans. There was some strange system where they all got their food and shelter and education and medical for free, no matter what job they did.” (35-36) NE
“...it was a natural mistake on Arada’s part. In Preservation culture asking payment for anything considered necessary for living (food, power sources, education, the feed, etc.) was considered outrageous, but asking payment for life-saving help was right up there with cannibalism.” (201) NE
“There were "free" bots wandering around on Preservation, though they had guardians who were technically supposed to keep track of them.” (27) NE
“Plus, it was Preservation and there were no scanning drones, no armed human security, just some on-call human medics with bot assistants and “rangers” who mainly enforced environmental regulations and yelled at humans and augmented humans to get out of the way of the ground vehicles.” (24) NE
"Over the comm loudspeaker, Dr. Ratthi said, 'It is a person!'" (16) NE
“Even the individual humans’ feed signatures only contained info about sexual availability and gender presentation, which I didn’t give a damn about.” (13) NE
“If this went wrong I was going to feel really stupid. The Targets would finally show up and be all “What the hell was it trying to do to itself?”“ (305-306) NE
“That’s one of the reasons Me 1.0 misses its armor.” (293) NE
“You and Amena were right. 2.0 was a person. It wasn’t like a baby, but it was a person.” (340) NE
“The damage to its organic tissue and support structure is easily repaired.” (132) NE
“- because it thought you were dead. It was so upset I thought-Oh, hey, you’re here” (227) NE
“Amena’s voice said “No, it doesn’t like to be touched!”“ (335) NE
““No, it says it’s fine,” I heard her relaying to the others on our comm. “Well, yes, it’s furious,”” (12) NE
"It's not aliens, 2.0 said. We knew it wasn't aliens, I told it. It countered, We were seventy-two percent sure it wasn't aliens. That was an outdated assessment but I didn't need to argue with myself right now." (314) NE
Fugitive Telemetry
“Preservation had two economies, one a complicated barter system for planetary residents and one currency-based for visitors and for dealing with other polities. Most of the humans here didn’t really understand how important hard currency was in the Corporation Rim but the council did, and Mensah said the port took in enough in various fees to keep the station from being a drain on the planet’s resources.” (79) FT
“The Preservation Alliance has a weird thing about food and medical care and other thing humans need to survive being free and available anywhere.” (35) FT
“The employment contracts for Preservation citizens were pretty simple, because their planetary legal code had so many in-built protections already. (For example, humans and augmented humans can’t sign away their rights to their labor or bodily autonomy in perpetuity; that’s like, straight-up illegal.)” (12) FT
“Preservation has high safety standards so we passed through two air walls before we got to the cargo ship’s hatch.” (70) FT
“Right now Aylen and the other officers were explaining to their individual Targets what rights they had as detainees in Preservation Alliance territory. (It was a lot of rights. I was pretty sure it was more rights than a human who hadn’t been detained by Station Security had in the Corporation Rim.)” (85-86) FT
“As part of the rights thing, Aylen had told Target Five the scanner would be on, which I thought was playing way too fair,” (89-90) FT
“Station Security was only allowed to keep the Lalow for one Preservation day-cycle before they either had to charge the crew with something or let them go.” (106) FT
“You need a surveillance audit.” (145) “Some of those systems are under privacy lock, we’d need a judge-advocate to release their access records,” (146) FT [these are together bc its a line of dialogue from mb, a huge monologue about what a surveillance audit is, and then Indah's response, which is the thing I care about for my paper]
“Most of the station’s clothing supply came from the planet, where human hand-made clothing and textiles were so popular there was hardly any recycler-produced fabric. (I told you Preservation is weird.)” (22) FT
“The colony ship hadn’t just been left to rot; the humans liked it too much for that…Pieces of clear protective material had been placed over the occasional drawings on the bulkheads, and on the pieces of paper stuck to them and covered with scribbled handwriting and faded print. Feed markers had been installed by Station Historical/Environment Management with translations into Preservation Standard Nomenclature.” (123) FT
“…you’re on a giant spaceship that has been meticulously preserved as a historical artifact. If they still had intact lunch menus from however many years ago, the chances were good they still had the safety equipment.” (125) FT
“Station Security isn’t armed except with those extendable batons (they don’t even deliver shocks, they’re just for hitting/holding off aggressive intoxicated humans) and the officers are only issued energy weapons when there’s actually an energy-weapon-involved emergency.” (72) FT
“…they were here to assess the damage to the transport and try to repair it. (Apparently on Preservation this would be free? Gurathin said it fell under what they called a traveler’s aid rule. In the Corporation Rim, the transport would have had tp sit there damaged and racking up fines until its owner or an owner’s rep arrived.)” (55-56) FT
another "couldn't decide so the whole dang thing is here"
"For a name, I could use the local feed address that was hard coded into my neural interfaces. It wasn’t my real name, but it was what the systems I interfaced with called me. If I used it, the humans and augmented humans I encountered would think of me as a bot. Or I could use the name Rin. I liked it, and there were some humans outside the Corporation Rim who thought it was actually my name. I could use it, and the humans on the Station wouldn’t have to think about what I was, a construct made of cloned human tissue, augments, anxiety, depression, and unfocused rage, a killing machine for whichever humans rented me, until I made a mistake and got my brain destroyed by my governor module." (28) “I posted a feed ID with the name SecUnit, gender = not applicable, and no other information.” (29)

Do you have any tips on becoming more eloquent, or a better communicator? I often struggle to find the right words or express myself clearly to others, especially in a work setting. Thank you!
how to become more eloquent + become a better communicator (workplace edition)
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
reading
try to read more if you don’t read as much or at all— it doesn’t matter if it’s nonfiction or fiction, but if you practice reading, you practice saying thoughts/words/sentences/etc. in your mind as you read which is clear and concise because that’s how the author wrote the book/article in the first place. authors don’t write “like” and “um” and “uh” when they are communicating to the reader, unless of course a character said those words but again, a character isn’t talking to you (the reader), but to another character. like i said, when an author writes, it’s to convey a clear and concise message to you, the reader. when you start reading more, you begin to pick up on also being more clear and concise when you not only read, but also write.
practice common workplace questions and answers.
for example, if you work customer service, what are the common questions you get asked that require a good answer from your employer, coworkers, and clients/customers/patients? think about what you normally have to talk about or answer in the workplace, write an answer down, and practice that answer so you have a quick, clear, and concise answer to that common question.
if you say “like”, “um”, and “uh” — or any other filler word, try to take a breath and slow down when you talk
you don’t have to be quick on your feet all the time and answer in .2 seconds. take a quick moment to gather your thoughts, smile, and then speak. it’s not as awkward as it may feel the first few times you do so. waiting 3 seconds is not that big of a deal. try to catch yourself the next time you are about to use a filler word and just take a short pause.
develop your vocabulary
you don’t have to use diction from shakespeare times, but simple changes such as using words like “ostracized” instead of saying that you’re feeling “left out” or “inquire” instead of “ask could help make you seem more eloquent. i believe dictionary.com still does the “word of the day” where they give you a vocabulary word, definition, and pronunciation. also, reading helps a lot (once again)!
practice public speaking tips + techniques
even if you aren’t a public speaker, practicing the skills and techniques public speakers use when they talk to an audience would help tremendously if you’re just talking to one person. purchase books on public speaking and search up public speaking advice on youtube for free.
practice on being a better (enter your job title here)
i don’t know what you do for work, but take on training for your profession. go to seminars, networking events, purchase a course online, buy books from those in your industry, or again, go on youtube for free. you have to train to become better :)
spend time with more professionals or people who can speak eloquently
you pick up habits and traits from those you spend your time with so be careful with who you spend a lot of time with.
i hope i helped!

How to Structure Your Life Like a BOSS: SucculentSiren X @femmefatalevibe
Tumblr media
FemmeFataleVibe
• Set Priorities
• Write Everything Down
• Devise A Plan
• Prioritize Important Tasks Like Non-Refundable Appointments
• Consider Batching Similar Tasks For Better Time Management & Productivity
• Become Attuned To Your Natural Energy Patterns
• Develop Self-Awareness Around Your Self-Sabotaging Behaviors
• Drop Inconsequential Tasks and Conversations
• Find Mentors (Online or IRL) Who You Allow Into Your Inner Circle
Ask Yourself: * What are the main 3 action items you could complete this week that would best serve your goals?
* Approximately what percentage of your to-do list each week aligns with your priorities?
* What are some habits you could add or eliminate that would help you feel more in control of your life?

• Time Management - Become aware of how you are managing your time. Set timers to remind you of your daily goals. Things flows easier when you set time aside everyday rather than trying to do everything at once or procrastinating. It can literally be just 10 minutes a day. This builds consistency and habit. You’ll also become less stressful in knowing that you don't have to complete everything all at once.
• Self Awareness - Identify what you want, how you want your life to look, what things in your life you would like to change, who you want to be seen as, etc. Develop self belief where you believe you're capable of achieving and having all your desires. Take calculated action towards your goals. You don’t have to start big. Start small instead and learn from there. Stay persistent and always remember your end goal. ‘Rome wasn't built in a day.’
• Mentors - Learn from people who inspire you. Everybody influences you, so follow those who motivate you to be and feel better about yourself.
Tumblr media
Q&A
Q: Many people find it challenging to put themselves first and make something of themselves. How would you recommend prioritizing yourself?
SS: If someone else can have it why can’t you? Build up your self esteem. Write down what it is that you desire most for your life and act in accordance to those beliefs. Nothing is too big or small for you to achieve.
FFV: Give yourself at least 30 minutes after waking up to focus on yourself. Do your skincare, have your coffee, listen to music, journal, read. Allow yourself to ease into your day.
Have your non-negotiables for the day. Get them done when you say you will and don’t push yourself to do more if you’re exhausted or get too overwhelmed. Communicate your bandwidth to others so you set realistic expectations involved for any project, event, get-together, or errand.
Ensure you give yourself enough time to eat 2-3 healthy meals daily, drink enough water, move for at least 20-30 minutes a day, and have a hygiene routine (shower skincare, home cleaning, etc.) that you perform daily/weekly depending on the task.
Give yourself at least an hour before bed to wind down – with a book, TV show, drinking tea, journaling, relaxing music, etc.
Incorporate daily/weekly rituals you enjoy into your schedule. Make these self-love practices as much of a priority as taking a shower or a work task. These activities could be doing a face mask, getting your nails down, have a great cup of coffee or tea, watching an episode of a TV show, a long walk around your neighborhood, calling someone you love, etc.
✦•······················•
Q: What are some tips to maintain balance between work, play and rest?
FFV: Give yourself “business hours” to do your work/important tasks – even if you don’t have an employer setting your schedule. This tip is essential if you’re self-employed, a business owner, or a student. I share my business hours in all of my contracts so my clients know when I’ll be available.
Timeblock everything: Your work tasks, cleaning schedule, errands/appointments and even your resting/self-care hours. This process allows you to stop decision fatigue from taking over your life. If you say you’re cleaning from 2 -3 pm tomorrow, get it done so you have from 3 pm onward to chill, take a walk, and watch TV later that weekend afternoon.
Decision on your must-do self-care rituals for the day/week and keep your promise to do them for yourself.
Become attuned to your social battery. Know how many hangouts per week or nights out helps you thrive (say 1-3 times per week if you’re more introverted or busy with work, school, family, etc.). Make an effort to plan these events on your social calendar ahead of time or know yourself well enough to remain open to last-minute plans on certain days/times of the week (if you’re prone to cancelling or flaking).

Hello! Do you have any advice on getting into freelance coding or remote jobs in the field? I'm having trouble with my current endeavors of applications and my current customer service job isn't doing me well enough to want to stay, so I'm hoping for progress sooner rather than later. Anything helps, thank you!!
Hiya 🖤
Thanks for reaching out with your question about getting into freelance coding or remote jobs. Making a transition can be challenging, but with dedication and strategic steps, you can definitely progress in your career.
Firstly, consider specializing in a specific field of computer science rather than trying to learn everything. This will help you become an expert in a niche, making you more attractive to potential clients or employers.
The big thing to look at is (1) what specific job do you want? Don't know yet? That's the first thing you need to find out. (2) Found the job you want? Go to this website "roadmap.sh" and click the job title you want and look at the roadmap to become it. (3) Have an idea of what you need to learn? Now study :)
Here are some extra key pieces of advice:
Tumblr media
Public Code Repositories
Showcase your coding skills by contributing to public repositories on platforms like GitHub, GitLab, or others. This allows potential employers to see your projects and assess your coding abilities.
Online Certifications
Earn certifications from reputable online courses like Freecodecamp, Codecademy, or SheCodes (if you're a woman). Displaying these certifications on your LinkedIn profile adds credibility for remote work or even freelance work because then clients will trust your skills more if it's back up with evidence (projects and/or certificates).
Links: "Massive List of Thousands of Free Certificates" / "The Udemy courses I use" / "FreeCodeCamp" / "Codecedemy" / "SheCodes" / "Udacity" / "Coursera" / "Google"
LinkedIn Profile
Revamp your LinkedIn profile to reflect your job title. Use a title that aligns with your dream job, and highlight your skills, certifications, and projects. You don't even need work experience OR do what a lot of my developer mates do have no work experience and set your "job" as a self-employed freelance developer... little cheat there~!
Links: "LinkedIn Career Explorer" / "Tips for speaking to/reaching out to Recruiter" / "Tips for Landing Your First Entry-Level Developer Job" / "Career Services for Web Development" / "The Talent Cloud Community: Careers Workshop"
Volunteering
Help someone out with a project for their business or whatever. For example, I helped a guy I met in a programming discord server build his portfolio page for free, but I care more about the experience. Search online for volunteer jobs with your dream job title e.g. Volunteer App Develope, but in your country would be better. The experience you can you can add to your LinkedIn. the project you work on you can add to your resume/experience.
Link: "SkilledUp Life"
Networking
Connect with professionals in your field on LinkedIn, even if you don't know them personally. Growing your network can open up opportunities and expose you to valuable insights. Events in person or online, servers (I found volunteer opportunities here), forums, Twitter (I found some mates on there), Instagram (another place I found developer friends). Networking can even help with building group projects~!
Link: "Tips for speaking to/reaching out to Recruiter"
Project Building
Work on both small and big projects to demonstrate your capabilities. Highlight these projects on your resume and portfolio.
Links: "Building projects after learning a new concept advice" / "Tips from learning using multiple resources" / "Tips on learning programming with ChatGPT" / "Harvard University Free IT Courses" / "The Udemy courses I use" / "Free Programming Books" / "Coding Advice for beginners" / "800 free Computer Science classes"
Online Presence
Share your learning progress and projects on various platforms like Tumblr, Twitter, Instagram, LinkedIn, or YouTube. Employers often appreciate candidates who actively showcase their work and commitment to learning. I made a post for Tumblr coding blogs:

Good luck!!

So, at the risk of sounding like an idiot, I absolutely adored System Collapse, but the one thing I don't quite understand that I feel is preventing me from fully appreciating and loving the story was the exact source of Murderbot's trauma. What was the source/meaning of his 'false' memory/dream where his leg was getting eaten? For me, it didn't seem like it was really explained (at least not very well)? And what page/chapter was it explained in, and were there any hints/symbolism given throughout the book? I just feel so stupid I missed what was probably very obvious.
Tumblr media
Okay first of all, I am so sorry for this taking me an eternity to answer! At the best of times I take forever to do things online and I have not been having the best of times for a while now haha
I also really really wanted to reread the series before I answered this question so I could thoroughly think about it. So I did. A lot. I have lost track of how many times I have reread the series since this ask (for context, I think in the last month I've reread it three times?) (it is my coping mechanism)
My first read through of system collapse I think I felt pretty similar; it felt like it was a little out of the blue and I was wondering why secunit's last adventure in Network Effect would cause this when it's already had so many dangerous and traumatic adventures. Now that I've read it multiple times, I feel like it is because secunit finally feels relatively safe enough to process some of the stuff that it has suppressed/had forced memory deletion of
Secunit has never had a group of people that it can safely be itself around without fearing for its safety: the entire first four books consist of the arc of murderbot coming to terms with its newfound freedom and learning that some people can be trusted as friends. Secunit has somewhat settled into a routine with its new friends, being around them regularly and getting comfortable with them. When the events of Network Effect happen, murderbot has some more seriously traumatic things happen to it (thinks one of its closest friends dies, gets kidnapped and stuck on a stupid planet, thinks its new friends abandoned it, almost gets mind controlled which reminds it of a governor module, has to kill another version of itself). I think what is different this time that causes it to react differently to this trauma is that this time in the aftermath, secunit has a supportive community and has even somewhat figured out what it wants to do with its freedom. Secunit is deeply moved by having all these new people in its life all team up to rescue it when it is trapped in a worst case scenario (stuck on a hostile planet with no feed access and another being trying to become like a new governor module for it). It is in a better place than it has ever been in its life after the events of Network Effect and since it is so safe, I think it unconsciously relaxes more than it would have before and its systems take it as time to really start to process both the trauma that just occurred along with some of the repressed stuff.
I dont remember pages/chapters, but I know that Secunit mentions that the "false" memory was likely based on something that it saw happen to a client. I think the statistic it gave was that it was around 80% likely to have been based on a real memory, but it didn't actually happen to itself. It was at the point when Secunit decides to explain the redactions, I think midway through the book. I think it was supposed to feel kind of bizarre and unexpected, because secunit has never experienced anything like this before and it is deeply unsettling; it's used to being able to function and do its job under high levels of stress, so the fact that murderbot's trauma is rearing its head in this new way that prevents it from doing so is very unexpected and difficult to deal with.
I don't think that the memory was really supposed to be very specific, I think that it was confusing and upsetting, which is how murderbot experiences it. I don't remember any specific symbolism but I remember that the "false" memory seems to combine a lot of murderbot's traumas and fears, such as hostile fauna eating itself/clients and its recent trauma with TargetContact almost taking over secunit's body (like a type of consumption).
System Collapse to me was a book about murderbot struggling to accept the impacts of its trauma as well as learning that it is okay to struggle. Murderbot wants to be able to ignore the past trauma like it has always done, but it can't ignore it this time and it is impacting its job. Secunit has internalized that it is a piece of equipment that will be disposed of if not functioning optimally; even though it has made a lot of strides to recognize itself as a person, it still experiences so much self doubt and feelings of worthlessness, made worse because the problem is seemingly something it should be able to control.
We see Secunit feel these feelings and eventually realize that it has self worth that is not tied to its job in security; Secunit uses writing and storytelling to rescue people and thus finds a skill that is wholly its own, developed outside of what the company had planned for its life. Secunit can develop its own skills and isn't just good for providing security, which helps it to overturn some of those internalized feelings of worthlessness. At the end of the book, we even see it acknowledge that it might need trauma support, which is huge growth from the beginning of the book.
Anyway. I think I've gotten super off track from answering your question so I'm gonna end this rant here. I'm obsessed with these books so thanks for the prompt to talk about them!!!

i'm sure you're soooo over author/agent drama, but there's been more, and honestly, i'm freaked out. i feel like a lot of agents close to mine (not my agent but in the same circle) have been making some bad calls and getting trashed online, and it's making me worry something bad will happen for my agent/agency. am i being unreasonable? should i be worried?
A LOT of agents? Yikes. I did log on to Xitter just to see what the drama was this time, and I saw something about ONE agent, so I don't know about LOTS.
Long story very short, and what I presume you are talking about, this weekend an agent did a terribly ill-considered tweet basically saying that they loved the premise of some query but didn't love the material, and would love a story like that if somebody else wanted to write it. Which is a bonkers thing to tweet -- first, because the smallest child should realize that would be insulting as hell to the author whose work with that premise you JUST TURNED DOWN -- but also, because it makes YOU look like you are an idea-thief encouraging idea-thievery.
Naturally, the writers of Xitter took umbrage and had themselves a dog-pile, the agent deactivated their account, and by the end of the day, the agency announced that agent had been fired. Meanwhile, there are a ton of agitated writers talking about "toxic and predatory agents" and how "this is so typical of agents" etc -- which just ISN'T TRUE, actually.
I would say that this is not an example of a schmagent, or predator -- it's an example of somebody whose brain was on vacation while their fingers were working overtime. Agents should not be talking about queries publicly at all, and should CERTAINLY not be insulting queriers -- it's hard as hell to write a book, and it's brave as hell to put your work out there!
That being said, I don't really buy the "idea thievery" of it all -- they gave general comps in their tweet, not any kind of specifics; if you gave 30 writers the same comps, you'd come up with 30 different works. LOTS of books have the same comps or similar premises and in fact are totally different from one another. Authors put their own premises and comps on twitter all the time, and don't seem too worried that somebody is going to steal them. ALSO, If an agent were TRYING to idea-thief, they wouldn't do it on twitter, they'd do it under cover of night. But hey -- it's for sure not great.
Here's the thing, though. OK actually multiple things:
a) The agency in question is a reputable agency with great agents and amazing clients, and they took decisive action pretty much the moment they realized an agent of theirs EFFED UP, which is far from an easy thing to do. I don't know the agent in question, but the boss is my friend -- but even if she weren't, I'd know she's a GREAT AGENT with GREAT CLIENTS, and pretty much a walking green flag.
b) This comment was careless, yes. Ill-considered, certainly. EVIL, probably not. But in any event, it's truly NOT reflective of how most agents think or behave.
c) twitter is not the real world -- long-term, this will not be likely to have a negative effect on the agency's ability to make great deals or anything else. The authors who just had their agent vanish will continue to either be supported by other agents at the agency, or they will find other agents quickly if they decide to leave. The other authors repped by the agency will, I'd assume, remain loyal to their fine agents who had nothing to do with anything. The agency, then, will continue to have good agents, good clients, and work with good publishers, and this rough weekend will be in the rearview except for maybe now and again some twitter snark that most people will not even understand because the origin of it will be forgotten and most people aren't on twitter, actually. Perhaps most importantly,
d) Dumb internet comments are not contagious.
If you are happily agented, I see zero reason you need to concern yourself about what internet buffoonery MIGHT happen. It probably won't happen! And if something unforeseen and weird ever DID happen with an agent at your agency, I would hope that the agency would handle it with grace and you'd be affected as little as possible. I just don't think that's something you need to worry about, there's enough to worry about IRL without INVENTING bad scenarios!

Unlocking the Mysteries of Tarot Cards in 2024
Even in a world where data and technology are taking over, tarot cards still have a mysterious appeal. These mysterious decks have been used for guidance, contemplation, and divination for millennia. As 2024 approaches, tarot cards’ allure only grows as they solve life’s mysteries by fusing traditional knowledge with fresh interpretations.
A Synopsis of Tarot’s History
Tarot card history is obscure, but it seems to have begun in Europe in the late 14th century. Tarot cards were originally employed for games, but by the eighteenth century, they had developed into a tool for spiritual guidance and divination. The 78 cards in a normal deck are split between the Major Arcana, which stands for important life events and spiritual lessons, and the Minor Arcana, which is more focused on everyday encounters.
The Tarot Deck’s Structure
To unravel the mysteries of a tarot card, one must comprehend its construction.
Principal Arcana: The Major Arcana, which consists of 22 cards, include well-known characters including The Fool, The Magician, and The High Priestess. Major life themes and spiritual lessons are represented by these cards. For example, The Fool is a symbol of possibility and fresh starts, while The High Priestess is a symbol of hidden knowledge and intuition.
Minor Arcana: The four suits of Wands, Cups, Swords, and Pentacles comprise the remaining 56 cards. Every suit relates to a certain facet of life:
Wands: Ambition, action, and creativity.
Cups: Intuition, connections, and feelings.
Swords: Decision-making, conflict, and intellect.
Pentacles: Things material, labor, and money.
The Role of Intuition in Tarot
One of the most compelling aspects of tarot reading is its reliance on intuition. While each card has traditional meanings, the interpretation can vary greatly depending on the reader and the context of the question. In 2024, many tarot practitioners emphasize the importance of tapping into one’s intuition to derive personal and meaningful insights from the cards.
Modern Tarot Trends
Social media, online forums, and the wellness sector have all contributed to the tarot’s recent increase in popularity. Below are a few noteworthy trends for 2024:
Online Tarot: Tarot readings are no longer limited by geography because to technological advancements. Tarot is now accessible to a worldwide audience through a plethora of applications and websites that provide virtual readings. Digital tarot decks combine traditional methods with contemporary technology by offering interactive elements and algorithmically-based individualized readings.
Variety of Decks: Tarot decks nowadays reflect a wide range of cultures, identities, and interests with their numerous themes and styles. There is a deck for everyone, ranging from ones that celebrate LGBTQ+ communities or incorporate pop culture motifs to those that are influenced by traditional Rider-Waite images.
Therapeutic Applications: As a tool for introspection and emotional recovery, tarot is becoming more and more integrated into the practices of therapists and counselors. Tarot’s archetypal imagery can assist clients in delving into their subconscious and gaining fresh insights into their problems.
Tarot for Personal Development: Tarot is widely used as a tool for personal growth, going beyond fortune-telling. Self-awareness and personal development can be promoted by writing, tarot card meditation, and daily card pulling.
How to Start Your Tarot Journey
It can be intimidating as well as exhilarating for people who are new to tarot to begin their journey. To help you get started, consider these steps:
Select a Deck: Look for a tarot deck that speaks to you. Beginners often choose the Rider-Waite-Smith deck because of its wealth of symbolism and abundance of resources.
Acquire the Fundamentals: Make sure you understand what the cards imply. Comprehensive interpretations and explanations can be found in a lot of books and internet places. But never forget the importance of your instincts.
Practice Frequently: Tarot reading becomes better with practice, just like any other ability. Begin by drawing a card each day and considering its meaning. To keep track of your readings and discoveries, keep a tarot diary.
When reading aloud, make sure your questions are precise and unambiguous. This aids in getting more targeted and pertinent responses.
Take Part in a Community: Talk to other people who enjoy tarot. Local meetups, social media organizations, and online forums offer support, education, and a platform for experience sharing.
Moral Aspects to Take into Account
Tarot reading involves personal counsel, thus ethical issues are crucial, just like in any other discipline. It is recommended that readers handle their practice with integrity, honesty, and customer respect. Since everyone has free will and the ability to control their own fate, it is crucial to offer counsel without passing judgement or making judgments for them.
Conclusion
The enigmas surrounding tarot cards are still captivating and motivating in 2024. Tarot provides a distinctive prism through which we can examine our lives and the world around us, whether it is utilized for divination, personal development, or therapeutic purposes. Tarot is still a vibrant and developing art form that invites us to explore our inner wisdom and unravel its mysteries by fusing old traditions with new ideas.
Tarot offers a timeless resource for introspection, wisdom, and empowerment as we traverse the complexity of today’s world. Tarot offers a path of discovery, intuition, and limitless possibilities, regardless of your level of experience as a reader or your level of curiosity.
Thanking You

Part 2 - When you have to cut to the bone
For when everything goes south and your budget gets cut to nothing; a continuation from this post where I wrote the first 3 of 6 steps of a financial self rescue plan.
The six steps are: Record. Cut. Save. Cook. Sell. Earn.
I've decided to write the Cook step later since it will take a bit of time to put together. So after the cut are the last two steps, Sell and Earn ...
Step Five - Sell
Clothes, accessories, toys, furniture, bikes, kitchen equipment, fitness equipment, tools ... we all have something at home we can get rid of and earn a little extra money.
Poshmark, Mercari - both are good for selling clothing and accessories.
Ebay - good for selling everything. I've sold clothes, books, and PC equipment like Bluetooth headsets on Ebay. Tip - to help you price your items search for the thing you want to sell, and click the "Advanced" link next to search and you can filter the list on sold items to get the history of recent purchases and compare price and condition to your item.
Craigslist - good for the big stuff that will be hard to ship that you can sell locally. I've sold a bookshelf, our TVs and and a DVD player, a bed frame, a bike. I even sold a car on Craigslist!
Etsy - generally sellers on Etsy are more like shopkeepers than sellers on Ebay. This may be a good place if you have a lot of a particular type of item, like a collection of vintage clothes. Etsy fees are a bit of a problem in my opinion compared with other selling platforms.
Amazon - sell your old books there. Competition is fierce and pricing is very competitive so it's not great. I've had better success selling books on Ebay.
Make sure you account for the website seller fees in your pricing and cover your shipping costs and that's some extra money in the bank.
Step Six - Earn
Here I'm focusing on jobs you can start doing with no additional start up costs.
Part time or extra work may help cover some of your expenses. And a lot of these jobs can be taken on short term and accommodate other jobs, or time consuming activities like job searching.
My former neighbor had a basic 22" push mower and a trimmer and used those to earn some extra cash mowing lawns. He didn't have a trailer or anything, he just loaded them into the boot of his car!
My 81 year old aunt back home in the UK, who traveled a lot to Italy as a young woman and who married an Italian still earns a part time income as an online Italian language coach.
Mrs. RRR works fashion retail and she works for two pet care agencies here in town. She specializes in cat sitting.
I pet sit for dogs - I have four occasional clients around my neighborhood. Two clients' dogs will stay with us, and for the other two I will go to them on multiple visits a day to take out and walk. My clients are direct, so I get cash and no agency take any fees out :)
You don't have to spend your money! Neither Mrs RRR or I will work with Rover.com because we're not going to pay out their background check fee. I'm sure Rover is an excellent service, but we were up shit creek and on a zero spend budget and that meant zero spend! We are lucky that we're in a big enough city that we had alternative agencies.
I'm a fairly fast typist so did some transcription for Rev.com. I found that exhausting, so gave it up, but for a short while it helped plug an income gap a few years ago.
Craigslist - there are quite a few good sections in here for part time and temporary work in here. For example, depending on where you are, there may be a good gig section under city > gigs > event gigs. I just found job listings for work at a local golf tournament in two weekend's time that I'm going to apply to.
Again there's no one big fix, instead it's a question of squeezing the juice as much as possible from every asset you have, sometimes that asset is a lawn mower you can use to earn a bit of extra cash, sometimes it's an old drill you can sell, or it might just some of your time and a bit of sweat.

Unlocking Growth: SEO Benefits For Your Videography Business
Tumblr media
In an era where visual content rules the internet, videography has become an indispensable tool for individuals and businesses looking to make an impact online. Whether you’re a freelance videographer or run a video production company, harnessing the power of SEO (Search Engine Optimization) can be a game-changer for your business. In this article, we’ll explore the SEO benefits that can help unlock growth for your videography business.
1. Increased Online Visibility
The internet is a vast landscape, and standing out among the competition can be a daunting task. SEO helps your videography business become more visible to potential clients. By optimizing your website and video content, you improve your chances of appearing on the first page of search engine results when potential clients search for services like “videographer in [your location].” This increased visibility can lead to more inquiries and bookings.
2. Targeted Traffic
One of the most significant advantages of SEO is the ability to attract highly targeted traffic. Instead of reaching a broad and generic audience, you can focus your efforts on specific keywords and phrases related to your niche. For a videography business, this means targeting keywords like “wedding videographer,” “corporate video production,” or “event videography.” By aligning your content with these keywords, you attract visitors who are genuinely interested in your services, increasing the likelihood of converting them into clients.
3. Showcase Your Portfolio
As a videographer, your portfolio is your best asset. SEO allows you to display your work to a wide audience. Create dedicated pages for your video projects, adding relevant keywords and descriptions to optimize them for search engines. Share your portfolio on your website and through social media to highlight your expertise, which can significantly influence potential clients’ decision-making process.
4. Blogging for Expertise
Blogging is an effective way to establish yourself as an authority in your field. You can write articles about videography techniques, equipment reviews, industry trends, or case studies of your previous projects. Not only does this provide value to your audience, but it also gives you the opportunity to incorporate relevant keywords and phrases, further enhancing your website’s SEO. Demonstrating your expertise can build trust and credibility, making potential clients more likely to choose your services.
5. Engage with Local SEO
Local SEO is particularly important for videography businesses. When someone searches for a videographer, they often want a professional who can provide services in their area. Ensure that your business is listed on Google My Business and other local directories. Consistent NAP (Name, Address, Phone Number) information across these platforms is vital for local SEO. This helps you appear in local search results, attracting clients in your vicinity.
6. Social Media Integration
Social media and SEO can work hand in hand to improve your online presence. Sharing your videos and blog posts on social media platforms can drive traffic back to your website. Additionally, social signals (likes, shares, comments) can indirectly impact your search engine rankings. Encourage your audience to engage with your content on social media, creating a positive feedback loop between your online marketing efforts.
7. Monitor and Adapt
SEO is not a one-and-done process. It requires continuous monitoring and adaptation. Tools like Google Analytics and Google Search Console can provide valuable insights into your website’s performance. Keep an eye on your rankings, the keywords that are driving traffic, and the pages that are the most popular. Make adjustments to your SEO strategy based on the data you collect to stay competitive in the ever-evolving digital landscape.
In conclusion, SEO is a powerful tool for unlocking growth in your videography business. It can significantly enhance your online visibility, attract targeted traffic, and establish your expertise in the field. By optimizing your website, creating high-quality content, and engaging with potential clients on social media, you can leverage SEO to take your videography business to new heights. Remember that SEO is an ongoing process, and staying up-to-date with the latest trends is key to maintaining your competitive edge in the dynamic world of digital marketing.
