I Think I’ll Just Hang Out on the Porch and Enjoy the Mountain View! (Great Smoky Mountains National Park) by Mark Stevens Via Flickr: While exploring and walking around the John Oliver Cabin in the Cades Cove area of Great Smoky Mountains National Park. The setting is looking to the south-southwest using the porch to frame the edges and be a leading line into the image with the grassy meadow and more distance ridges and peaks of the Western Great Smoky Mountains (Cobb Butt and Cobb Ridge). The rest was aligning myself to the porch and overhang while exposing for the highlights off in the distance. I later used Perspective tool in DxO PhotoLab 7 to straighten out the angles with the cabin.

The Blue Ridge is a breathtaking place to live. But it's hard living. Many places do not have electricity, infrastructure, and the terrain is a lot rougher than you think. You can't just tough it out. It snowed today. A big challenge (if you live in a cabin) is to keep the weight of the snow from causing your roof to cave in. My arthritis is screaming. One leg is shorter than the other. That means the short leg works harder than the left leg. That makes it a little bit more dangerous as no one wants to fall seeing as how you could go months up here and never see single homo sapiens. The first snowfall is the immediate future. I will be back to shovel the snow from the roof. But the cold is telling me it's going to be an adventure this winter, and I love watching it, but being in that kind of Big Snow is more arthritis that I want to tease. I can see leaving for the winter in the warmer valley. Winter is one thing when you're 19. I am not 19.
