When I first saw Velvet and Veneer they reminded me of Emira and Edric

Is it just me or could the Blight Twins be very easily written out? They don't feel like they NEEDED to exist in the story. They just feel like the long repertoire of characters in TOH who could've been condensed or scrapped entirely.

For one, I don't think much would've been lost if Amity were an only child. I think it would make all of the expectations levied on her more realistic. Amity's story could focus on her reconnecting with Alador and mending bridges between them, maybe even finding out that Odalia grew up in a similar situation to her and cycle of abuse'd those views on Amity. This is furthered by the fact that I don't think Odalia ever actually interacts with the Twins. Do we know what she thinks of them?

Secondly, I don't think they do much plot-wise! What's the most relevant thing they do? Steal Amity's diary! That can be very easily rewritten to Boscha stealing it to gain leverage over Amity. There, I've simply taken away their most important moment.

Emira is such a great big sister I'm so :(((

She's so gentle with Amity. The scene after she loses her job, the way she comforts her about her feelings for Luz and pointing out how much happier she looks, agreeing to dye and cut her hair against their mom's will (despite how scared she also is of Odalia), how she tries to comfort Amity when she's panicking over not being able to contact Luz

She was also the one helping Edric get ready for his date. Healing him when he was hurt before healing her own injuries (Labyrinth Runners), she's such a good sister to him too (despite not being as "soft" as she is with Amity, which makes sense considering they're the same age)

I'm soooo pissed we didn't get more focus on her, I so would've traded Alador's screentime for more Emira. Like. She's the oldest sibling* in an abusive household and you focus more on redeeming her neglectful dad??? Boooooo. She deserved better

*I call her the oldest because I'm almost sure she's been referred to as the "older twin" by a crew member before. But regardless, she's also more "parentfied" than Edric is from what we've seen

Anyway. Emira they could never make me hate you
