see this is that perfect “touch her and I will kill you” scene that contemporary romance authors selling their stuff via TikTok and Twitter are trying and failing to capture on paper

hostile third party around the couple is out to get her for some reasons justifiable (weapons) or unjustifiable (misogyny) but setting is so freakishly important to establish it alongside how much agency the damsel has herself

on normal pre-apocalyptic circumstances this is just an alley of thieves or getting cornered by an abuser, lots of possibilities

here in Terminator Salvation Blair has so much agency as needed: she can shoot, she can fight with a knife, only that she is surrounded by more big people than she can handle alone

that's why seeing Marcus come to her rescue feels so satisfying (apart from the fact that they're a hot couple played by Moon Bloodgood and Sam Worthington and that Marcus begins to reveal himself to be a terminator)

Marcus fighting off the other guys means our damsel Blair gets to catch a breath, pick herself back up, and finish the battle by gunning the last active hostile off the field before Marcus can actually kill him

I'm just saying in the realm of “touch her and I will kill you” it's so much more fun to balance out the power between that couple as much as possible, and these are by wartime designation enemies to lovers already

again I'm just saying this was such a satisfying little scene to watch and all the more so now while my social media gets flooded with complaints about romance tropes forced into narratives

this was done (w)right, this left Marcus in my psyche, he lives rent free
