Seis Manos: Netflix didn’t promote it at all so it’s mostly their fault but still

The Jellies, Lazer Wulf or Camp Buckooth: every time these shows were promoted here came annoying ass venture bros and Metalocalypse fans under every video commenting that these shows were trash and to bring back VB and Metalocalyps

Moon Girl and Devil Dinosaur: which is doing semi fine but it’s still annoying when I see a promotion online and the comments are filled with “Bring back the owl house !” because you know they lost their show so they can’t let anyone else enjoy their shows

I’m A Virgo: everyone complained that it was ‘too weird’ but claim that they want different stories about black people that aren’t slave stories but turn their heads at black surrealism

Nope: People claimed it was too confusing and that they didn’t understand the story when the story and the message is absolutely easy to understand

It’s always “make your own stories !” yet they never help support those stories, they always try to hijack what little promotion or they just straight up ignore it or even when we do make our own stories they still complain and claim it’s “woke pandering” or “woke propaganda”

“Blackwashing” goes in the same box as “the female gaze” and “transandrophobia” for terms that are coined as a parallel equivalent to an existing term but miss that the core aspect of their counterpart (whitewashing, the male gaze, and transmisogyny) is a power imbalance. Hegemony. Oppression. The original terms are critiques of these (racism, more specifically colorism and antiblackness; misogyny; transphobia x misogyny). They are not equivalent and can only work in one direction.

Ive seen tons of posts talking about "le whitewash minecraft movie" as if steve isnt a white guy with a tan at best. Considering the facts of "notch is racist" and "the original creators were all white people from a white country" and the first version of minecraft had "steve" and "black steve" sprites (granted neithee look like steve nowadays but the fact they specify that one steve as specifically black should say a lot)

I wanna address an issue that I see A LOT!

People think that "Blackwashing" is real.

Let me tell you something....

IT'S NOT!!

Let me explain why.

I know the term blackwashing is inspired by the term whitewashed.

Now let me tell you what whitewashing is.

The cleansing of an item, like clothes or a cloth, or the censoring of a race, culture, or ethnic group.

Whitewashing and blackwashing are not the same.

Your so-called "blackwashing" is not censoring anything, but instead making another version of a character as blasian or of African decent.

This is another form of making an AU, which everyone seems to love so much.

I'd love to hear the statements that people make, trying to tell me why I'm wrong.

I would like to spread awareness on the SMG4 Discord Server and their bad moderation

So I was having a chat with a few people on the Discord server, we were talking about the SMG3 Fanart, so then someone brings up how he saw the fanarts of SMG3 being black with long hair, and I stated my opinion on how blackwashing/whitewashing isn’t right because they’re taking the original race of a character and changing it, so then someone by the name of @/faithypoo on Discord starts a whole argument with me basically saying I’m racist and how they’re just headcanons when you shouldn’t really be changing the race of other characters, and I was saying this without harm, I wasn’t saying “THESE PEOPLE DESERVE TO BE BANNED” or something, I was just being brutally honest, then the girl made a tweet about me and now everybody’s accusing me of racism when I literally made a Gacha Series with black people and still currently have black people in my channel, so then someone sent me messages of things they were saying on a Discord server and they were basically making fun of me and bringing up past stuff I apologized for back in January also saying how I was banned from the old server when I have no knowledge of how I was, then this caused me to get banned from the server for basically stating my opinion like I don’t have a freedom of speech

SMG4 Server moderators if you are reading this PLEASE FIX YOUR MODERATION

Whoever is in the Discord Server please just be cautious from this unfair banning for STATING AN OPINION, which is against the First Amendment of the US Constitution
