"Oh, you're a bisexual/pansexual woman, but you're in a relationship with a man, ew, how can you even be happy?"
Not to use your own spells against you, but isn't this biphobic/panphobic of you???

I dare all the Americans out there to tell me, right off, without googling, the historical difference between a fascist and a nazi.
I'm kinda disgusted that these words are thrown all over the place, and people probably don't even know the meaning of them...
It's a generational scar for all Europe, I promise the difference between the two terms matters.

So, people attacked Sydney Agudong for being casted as Nani, cause she's mixed race and "not black enough", even if she IS HAWAIIAN.
The only complaint I can understand is that she does not look like Nani, not for the skin tone, but for the shapes... I can't say anything about the skin tone, because SHE IS HAWAIIAN. And Lilo and Stitch is set in actual Hawaii.
Tumblr media
Now, about Nico Parker, since someone said "she's mixed race, so part white. Plus, no one on the cast is Scandinavian".
1. You did not condone the mixed race on an actual Hawaiian tho?
2. Httyd is not set in actual Scandinavia. But it's based off Vikings in ancient Scandinavia. So you don't necessarily need Scandinavians to cast, but you need someone who looks like them!
3. In my opinion, if a story is set in a certain place, it'd be better to have an actor from there... but else, if there aren't options, they're called ACTORS, you can choose someone from a different place, but they have to look like the people from the original setting.
(to play, idk, Tutankamon, you can search for someone with Egyptian roots, but if you can't find one, just don't cast, idk, a Japanese, a Congolese, or a Scandinavian to do the job).
4. Just cast someone who looks like Astrid! It's not even about the race, it's about being similar to the characters! I'd have complained about Margot Roobie playing Astrid, she's white and blonde, but she looks nothing like the character. A Freya Allan would have done the job, for example.
@bayofalgecirascranes this is my response to your reblog

Mainstream mob: "Blackwashing The Little Mermaid is fine, because it's a fictional creature...
BUT you can't whitewash Black Panther, cause his skin tone and origin are relevant to the plot "...
Tumblr media
Also mainstream mob: "Blackwashing Snow WHITE is totally fine, tho." - Even if the setting is clearly ancient GERMANY, it's written by the Grimm brothers, who where German, and she's literally called Snow WHITE. LIKE IT'S PART OF THE ACTUAL PLOT...
Tumblr media
"Oh, we can blackwash Hermione too, in the book her skin tone is never mentioned, even the author did not specify it".
THE GRIMM BROTHERS DID THO.
Tumblr media
AND OMG I JUST DISCOVERED. "We can blackwash a VIKING CHARACTER. LIVING IN SCANDINAVIA. IN THE MOTHERFUCKING VIKING ERA. YES."
Tumblr media
Just admit you have a double standard based on race (hate to tell you so, but it's still racism) and shut up. Please.
(Edit for the person who reblogged - Scandinavian is not a "race"... ofc the actors are not Scandinavian, but omg you KNOW what I'm talking about here, don't even pretend).

I've always heard biological women being called huterus owners, vagina owners etc.
But NEVER ONCE biological men being called balls owners or penis owners...
And this points out the radical misoginy behind all of this fake inclusivity.

"This character is queer, obviously he's gay" - say the people, referring to the hot male character who's seen banging girls hard from episode one, and known to be a womanizer.
You can ship whatever you want, but I tought it was bad to assume someone's sexuality based on your opinion and forcing it on them...
Like, boo, ship it, but don't pretend it's canon or act like the writers did something wrong there. They showed you who was in the character's bed during enough screen time, respect it.
Love is love, there's nothing wrong anyway.
