[Transcript of a conversation on Bluesky]
K.B. Spangler @kbspangler.com
One holdover that's stuck with me from Trump's term in office is how few people actually call in. My congressman's office said they were BOGGLED at how many calls they had gotten on a particular issue, so I asked how many...
They replied, "Seventeen."
jamie quinn 🏳️⚧️ @threnody.bsky.social KOSA is moving through the senate right now, where it has significant support. but nothing's final until it's final. if your senator's a democrat, call & email. use this script. it's timed to 1:00 and it won't take long. even with enforcement moved to the FTC, this bill is too easily weaponized.
[Embedded Text Image Transcript]
My name is _ and I'm one of your constituents. I'm calling to urge you to vote NO on KOSA - the Kids Online Safety Act. The bill's sponsors claim it will protect kids by placing a duty of care on online platforms to prevent anything that could be harmful.
The power to decide what's harmful has been ceded to the FTC. FTC leadership is made by presidential appointment. Current president Lina Khan may proceed fairly, but what happens when the next Donald Trump is in the Oval Office? What if it's Trum himself? Do you trust a Trump appointee not to abuse this enforcement power?
KOSA claims to protect kids, but it's poorly designed and, given time, it will absolutely and without question, harm LGBTQ children, adults, and anyone who needs information on reproductive health or abortion.
KOSA author, Senator Marsha Blackburn, said she introduced KOSA in part - and I quote - "to protect minor children from the transgender in our society." The Heritage Foundation proudly said they'll apply pressure through KOSA to block information about abortion, reproductive health, & LGBTQ issues.
Vote NO on KOSA.

K.B. Spangler @kbspangler.com
So, yes, your voice does make a difference because if everyone else is thinking "Well, my voice doesn't matter so why bother" then you and sixteen of your online buddies can go ahead and straight-up boggle a congressman.

URGENT: Congress about to pass a mass censorship and surveillance bill under the guise of "protecting children"
May 13 2023
The Senate has been in a "do something!" mode regarding children's online safety. They're using this as an excuse to push for widespread internet censorship and surveillance. The EARN IT Act, has a slimmer chance of passing with widespread opposition and some senators saying they won't vote for it. TLDR;The real threat is actually KOSA (s.1409), the Kid's Online Safety Act, which will mass censor and surveill the entire internet by giving all 50 state attorney generals the power to remove content that is "harmful" for kids, and force you to upload your govt ID online to access the internet. I'll explain how it works below the action items but it's absolutely urgent that anyone who likes having a free and open internet fights back. It's all hands on deck, because this has so much public support it's insane:
HOW TO FIGHT KOSA
CALL YOUR REPRESENTATIVES & THE COMMERCE COMMITTEE
This is a link to the Senate Commerce Committee phone numbers and a call script to read off of. (202) 224-3121 connects you to the congressional hotline
Opposition is getting drowned, and these upcoming weeks will be heavy for lobbying and they're using young people to do it. We NEED to show these senators that young people are actually opposed to this and don't want it.
2. Sign these petitions
Open Letter Against KOSA
Petition 1
Petition 2
Petition 3
Petition 4
Resistbot: Text PHJDYH to 50409
3. Spread the word.
The opposition is getting absolutely drowned online. Dove has nearly 100k signatures to push for KOSA. Influencers on tiktok are pushing for this without ever having read the bill. Fucking Lizzo is sponsoring it. If you have twitter, reddit, tiktok, are in any community, SPREAD THE WORD, PLEASE.
Here is a linktree with all the above petitions for easy shargin: Link to linktree
HOW KOSA WORKS
First, KOSA pressures platforms to install filters that would wipe the net of anything deemed “inappropriate” for minors. This means instructing platforms to censor. We saw how these filters impacted websites firsthand with tumblr in 2018, with not only blocking all adult content but also sfw queer content such as suicide hotlines, art archives, wiping out entire blogs because they had queer fandom related posts, etc. Places that already use content filters have restricted important information about suicide prevention and LGBTQ+ support groups. KOSA would spread this kind of censorship to every corner of the internet. And who gets to decide what is and isn't harmful for minors? Oh don't worry, just every single state attorney general and the FTC, which is appointed by the president. You know, the same attorney generals that just banned gender-affirming healthcare under the guise that it "ruins mental health" of minors. This is why the Heritage Foundation was one of the first to sponsor the bill because they can use it to censor trans content, and Senator Marsha Blackburn of Tennessee is it's co-author.
Second, KOSA would ramp up the online surveillance of all internet users by forcing websites to use age verification and parental monitoring tools. Yup, that's right. Now every single person who wants to access the internet has to upload their govt ID online to third party apps that get hacked all the time. You queer in a red state? You undocumented? You an activist? Have fun getting all your online activity and metadata attached to your govt ID.
Over 90+ human and LGBT rights groups agree that KOSA is dangerous and updates to the 2023 version won’t and can’t address the big problems with the bill. This bill has MASSIVE bipartisan support, and the authors Blumenthal and Blackburn (yes, that Blumenthal that's pushing the EARN IT Act, and who also sponsored the RESTRICT Act and SOPA/PIPA if you remember) are using the tragedy of mothers who lost their kids to online harassment and young adults who've been traumatized online to lobby for it, and got Dove the company to use a bunch of influencers to push for this under the guise it prevents eating disorders...I wish I was lying. There are already 30 co-sponsors.
It is all hands on deck. I'm dead serious when I say if this bill is passed it is the beginning if not end of the open and free internet.

I Hate Her
Leah Williamson x reader Warnings: None
You had played as a centre back since you were six years old and asked to play on the Under 10s boys team. Your dream had been set from then, you wanted to play professional you wanted to play for England.
You sign your first academy contract for Manchester United a year later but continue to play for your local team wanting to practice and play as much as you could in hopes of someday making the England team.
You get a call up to your first youth England squad at 13, to say your excited is an understatement only you spend the entire camp on the bench as Leah Williamson is picked over you to start, the Arsenal academy player, future Arsenal player. Leah stared at you as she walked past the bench "Maybe they'll choose you next time." You decide then and there that you hate her.
United don’t have a women’s team and so you sign with Blackburn Rovers just before your 17th birthday. You love it Blackburn have given you everything you’ve wanted your their starting Centre Back, they see how hard you work and it pays off in the England Youth camps, you make your debut against Spain, Leah’s sick for the debut and you can’t help but repeat that in your head, that’s why your being picked not because ur better.
United form a Women’s team to take part in the championship in 2018 which is perfect for your because your contract with Blackburn Rovers ends and your free to sign with your childhood club in the summer.
It’s Leah’s turn to hate you when instead of joining the U23s camp you get called up to the Senior squad for a camp. You, your on a championship team that only got formed this season, you who has only been chosen over her a handful of times and now Phil Neville thinks your better then her, hardly.
Joining the senior squad felt surreal. Familiar faces like Lucy Bronze and Steph Houghton greeted you with genuine warmth. During training sessions, you pushed yourself to the absolute limit, determined to prove your place wasn't a lucky break. The coaches, Phil Neville included, seemed impressed. They challenged you , tested your tactical awareness, your ability to lead the defense under pressure. It wasn't easy, but you held your own, fueled by that quiet fire within.
One evening, Neville called you into his office. Your heart hammered a frantic rhythm against your ribs. Were you getting sent home? But no, his words were unexpected. "You've got something special, kid," he said, a glint in his eye. "A raw talent, a hunger I haven't seen in a while. We're planning a friendly against Germany next month. Be ready."
News of your potential debut spread like wildfire. Back home, your family erupted in cheers. Blackburn fans were ecstatic, their underdog defender on the cusp of playing on the biggest stage. But the media frenzy was a different story. Headlines screamed "Unproven youngster" and "Neville's gamble." The narrative remained the same - you were the fluke, the temporary blip in Leah's meteoric rise.
That night, staring at the ceiling of your hotel room, a fierce determination took hold. This wasn't just about proving yourself to the coaches or the media. This was about proving it to Leah, to everyone who doubted you. This was about carving your own path, a path that wouldn't be defined by being "better" than Leah Williamson, but by becoming the best damn defender England had ever seen.
You come on against Germany in the 89th minute, you know then and there that u are going to have to fight for your life every time you want to make it on to the pitch for England either over Leah or along side her you will have to fight.
And fight you do.
The following months were a whirlwind. You were in and out of the senior squad, each call-up a hard-fought battle. Leah was a constant shadow, a relentless competitor. You pushed each other to new heights, your growth fueled by the desire to outshine the other.
The 2019 World Cup was on the horizon, and the competition for places was fiercer than ever. You were on the cusp, but the final squad selection was a knife-edge. Days turned into nights as you waited for the dreaded or the desired call. When it finally came, your heart pounded with a mix of joy and disbelief. You were in. But so was Leah.
The World Cup was a dream realized, a tournament that would define careers. You played your part, even it was for less minutes then you would have liked (It was still more than what Leah had been given.) solid in defense, a calm presence in the face of adversity. England's journey was a rollercoaster of emotions, culminating in a heart-stopping final game for third place against Sweden.
The bronze medal match was a bitter pill to swallow. A valiant effort, but ultimately falling short. The weight of the loss hung heavy in the dressing room, a stark contrast to the jubilant scenes from the other side.
You had cursed at yourself in the eleventh minute as Asllani out ran you and sloted the ball past Telford, Steph had come over tapping your back whispering that it was ok it was one goal as Alex and Lucy followed both squeezing your arms as you all walked to reseat, you quickly turn to telford letting out a small sorry, to which she shakes her head sending you a thumbs up before you turn as Ellen White starts the game back up.
You hoped that Asllani's goal would be your one and only but Jakobsson makes a run in the twenty second minute and this time you make sure you catch her running in front of the swedish player you slide infront trying to cut her off but she breaks left and you can do nothing but sit on the ground and watch as she rolls it into the back left corner. You fall back hands covering your face. It's Lucys turn to pick you up "Your trying your best, you corrected your last mistake by being on it more." You shook your head "Yeah but she still scored." Lucy sighed knowing she wasn't going to break through the doubt that was bubbling in your head instead she pulled you into a hug and headed back into position, as you once again turned to Telford who before you could even open your mouth was already shouting at you "It's ok kid, you tried." you dropped your head nodding just as the ref blew the whistle to restart the game.
You came off at half-time for Rachel Daly, you had refused to speak to anyone, you had refused to join in on the celbrations in the thirty-first minute as Fran Kirby scorded but now as you walked down the tunnel you tried to shake all those feeling, you had played in your first World Cup, you had played 45 minutes in a tough match, you were good enough for Phil Neville to think you belonged there.
Those thoughts came crashing down as Leah walked past you hitting into you harshly.
Leah's harsh collision sent a jolt of pain through your already bruised ego. You stumbled backward, your breath catching in your throat. Her eyes, cold and calculating, held a mixture of contempt and something else, a flicker of something you couldn't quite decipher.
You spun around, your face flushed. "What the hell was that for?" you demanded, your voice laced with disbelief.
Leah's eyes narrowed, her expression a mix of defiance and something else you couldn't quite decipher. "You were out of position," she snapped, her voice barely above a whisper in the echoing tunnel. "Two goals down, and you're daydreaming."
The accusation stung, but you refused to back down. "I was trying to cover," you retorted, your voice rising. "It's not like I wanted them to score."
A tense silence fell between you, the only sound the distant cheers of the crowd filtering down the tunnel. You could feel the heat rising to your cheeks, a familiar sensation of being under scrutiny.
"I wouldn't have let them through." You walk towards her your finger poking her chest "Yet he didn't even give you the chance, he chose me over you."

Sins of the Father
cw: shifter romance. A/B/O dynamics. Angst. Grovel. Hurt/comfort. Sick children. Loss of parents. Last name mentioned for reader (sorry but they have to call her something). I’ll add more if I think of any. I’m back in my wattpad era. cringe. Reader is early to mid twenties. Related to story sorry :(
pairings: poly141 x OFC
Summary: For seven years you have lived as an outcast in your own pack. Shunned, you had to make due to ensure not only your own survival but your younger sister’s as well. Now, after years of failing to shift and being labeled as broken, the connection that the gods had chosen for you clicks into place. Much to uour dismay, it’s not only person who sentenced you to exile, but his three betas as well.
There were two rules above all else in your world:
1) Don’t disobey the Alpha.
2) Don’t sneak off packlands.
Since there was a direct order from Alpha Price to stay in the territory, you were breaking both. But the alphahole was twisting your arm at this point. It was either obey him and let Rosie die or say fuck it and she might be able to fight the infection.
Rosie 13 months old when your mother went missing. Four months later, your father had challenged Price. His wounds had been fatal and the consequence for his betrayal had fallen upon you and Rosie. She was still a baby and you were still a child yourself. But you guess the daughters were meant to pay for the sins of their father.
And Rosie had paid nearly all of her life for what your father had done. No medical aid given. Your monthly rations were whatever was leftover. Year after year the rations had dwindled down to the point where it wasn’t enough to sustain you both through a quarter of the way through the winter.
You had learned long ago that being a part of a pack didn’t make you part of the pack. Which was why you had to rely on trading with the humans in order to get medicine and non-perishable goods.
Tonight was the night before the run. No one except border patrol would be out and no one keeps tabs on what happens to the Blackburn girls. No one would be looking out for the pack’s pariah at this time of night.
You couldn’t breathe easy until your cottage came into view. You were thankful that you were so far away from the rest of the pack and remained at the edge of the border. The five mile trek had been taken down to a little over two.
Rosie was still tucked in bed just as she had been the last two days. The cold cloth on her forehead no doubt warm now. She stirred awake as the door creaked shut behind you. “Sissy?” Her voice rasped, sounding more like old hag than a 9-year-old girl.
“Hey Rosie Posey,” You greeted softly as you pulled the pill bottle from your backpack. “Miss Oliver says hi. Hopes to see you soon.”
Miss Oliver was a doctor that you had met years ago. Anytime Rosie got too sick for you to handle, you sought her out. She had always been willing to help. Even given the difference in species.
Rosie took the medicine without fuss and settled back into bed after offering a quiet, “thank you.”
You put away the supplies you had gotten. After changing out of your sweaty clothes, you had washed off with a basin of water and a rag in the corner of the room. The fire had now dwindled down to glowing embers.
You laid down next to her and almost by instinct, her body moved closer to yours. No doubt seeking any warmth she could.
It was hard. Having maternal feelings for a child who was meant to be your sibling. Having to become a mother before you really got the chance to be a sister.
You were just grateful she was still here.
It was moments like this when the hate you had for Price and the pack left your body body. When Rosie’s breathing becomes clear and her skin doesn’t burn beneath your touch. Where for just a moment you don’t live a crumbling shack. You feel safe and the worries of tomorrow escape you.

A reminder to any civics-minded Tennessee folk that Senator Marsha Blackburn, infamous transphobe and major KOSA sponsor, is up for re-election this year. So if you want the internet to be a safer place for all then it's your sacred duty to use your vote to get her the hell out of government. Figure out who your Blue candidate is or whoever has the best chance against her and vote for them like your life depends on it.

T-Shirt - C. Spenser (Bravo 6)
Summary: you wore Clay's shirt to an op by accident.
When I got the call for the op, I was at Clay's apartment, so I got dressed as quickly as possible. Clay and I headed out in separate cars to keep our cover intact with the team and headed to base. Briefing was on the plane, so we barely had a minute to get settled before we took off and briefing took place.
I could feel the heat radiating off Clay's body as he stood behind me as Jason briefed us. Jason turned his back to talk to Blackburn, and I felt Clay's breath on my ear.
"Is that my shirt?"
I quickly looked down at myself and realized I was, in fact, wearing Clay's shirt. In the hurry, I guess I didn't realize that I grabbed his shirt instead of mine. In my defense, we had gone for a run that morning, and I was wearing an oversized t-shirt with some biker shorts when I got to his place so this was the same look I had on prior just a different shirt.
I swiftly grabbed my jacket that laid on my gear pack which was set off on the right side.
"You good there princess?"
I looked over at Sonny and nodded.
"You know I'm always cold."
He nodded, and he looked between Clay and I, and I diverted my attention back to Jason as Blackburn spoke up.
"Listen up, guys, we're receiving more intel, so for now, sit tight. We'll brief you in soon."
We all nodded, and all went out separate ways to make sure our gear was squared away.
"I don't believe it."
I furrowed my eyebrows as I looked back at Sonny.
"What are you going on about Sonny?"
"You and Blondie are sleeping together."
"What the hell are you talking about?"
"That's Clay's shirt that you're wearing. I know that because he wore it leaving the base yesterday."
I grabbed onto Sonny's arm and pulled him away from prying ears and eyes.
"You tell anybody about this I'm going to come and kill you in your sleep understood?"
"Copy that princess. But it's about damn time."
I rolled my eyes as I went back to checking out my gear and before I knew it Clay was sitting beside me.
"Sonny knows."
I nodded.
"I know."
"Said you threatened to kill him in his sleep if he told anyone."
I chuckled.
"I thought of it more like a promise but yeah."
Clay chuckled.
"You look good in my shirt by the way."
I smiled as Jason walked past us.
"Get back to work Spenser."
"Yes, sir."
I chuckled as I watched Clay walk over to his gear pack. I caught his eye, and he smiled as he winked at me. I shook my head as I turned my head and looked down at myself. I couldn't believe I had worn Clay's shirt to an op.

Logistics: Eric Blackburn x Reader
Tagging: @kmc1989 @4everademigod @totalstitchlover19 @doglover-24 @bravo4iscool
Prequel to:
Scars - Eric loves every single part of you.
Three Months (NSFW) - Eric returns home from Afganastan.
In the weeks that follow the building collapse, it becomes clear that you’re looking at a lengthy recovery and rehabilitation period. The military covers that thankfully but it’s the logistics you’re concerned over because you’re still struggling to perform a lot of the basic tasks that would have been no problem for you in the past. That’s what happens when you have a traumatic brain injury, things get knocked about, thrown off kilter.
“It’ll come back in time.” You’re told as you fumble with the stress ball in your hand and Eric can see the concern and frustration on your features.
You haven’t even begun to consider navigating your release from the hospital. Eric though he’s already five steps ahead, working out the logistics, planning ahead.
You live in an apartment building with an elevator that barely works at the best of times, it’s not feasible considering your current mobility. His place is the best option for your recovery. He lives in a bungalow in a quiet neighbourhood with a small garden, he keeps in decent shape because he’s always the one hosting cookouts.
It’s unlikely the military will let him take leave so abruptly without a good explanation and your relationship isn’t public knowledge because it fucks with the chain of command. There’s only one thing he can do and he does it without telling you because he knows you would do everything in your power to stop him.
The morning after he finds out you’re being released he turns up at General Auster’s office and informs him he’s in violation of the fraternization policy, that he’s been seeing another officer in his chain of command.
The expression on the other man’s features is one of disbelief because if there is anyone you can count on to do the right thing it’s Blackburn. There are questions, lots of them and Eric answers them accordingly, with his chin up and his head held high.
“Why now?” Auster asks him. “This has gone on for a year already without being detected, what drove you to come here and tell me this now?”
“She needs support when she leaves the hospital.” He informs his superior officer. “Someone to be around for the first couple of weeks and I knew you wouldn’t approve a leave request so this is the next best option.”
“Ah so it’s the suspension you want.” Auster says with understanding, his pen tapping lightly against the desk. “You’re taking a hell of a risk Eric, I think I can convince them on the thirty days, but you’re risking separation of your contract, confinement. Is she really worth all that?”
For a moment he’s taken back to the building collapse, to those thirty minutes Bravo team spent trying to dig you out, the ones where he didn’t know if you were alive or dead. Those were the worst eighteen hundred seconds of his life. Everything else that came afterwards he could handle but that section of time he was a wreck.
“I wouldn’t be here if she wasn’t.” He remarks dryly and Auster must see the sincerity in his features.
“Alright then.” Auster says finally. “I’ll get back to you by the end of the day regarding the decision.”
It’s as he’s on the way back to the hospital that evening that he gets the call. A two month suspension with a reduction of pay for three months after and a reprimand in his jacket. It’s the best he could have hoped for. Now he can focus on what’s important, helping you get back on your feet.
You lose your shit when he tells you and he expected no less because your biggest concern throughout the duration of this relationship is making sure that he’s protected, that he’s not compromised by you.
“What were you thinking?” You snap from your hospital bed as he begins to pack up your things for you. “Everything you’ve worked so hard for…”
He sighs as he comes to sit on the edge of your bed, his fingertips chasing away the hair that falls over your features.
“I was thinking about you. He says softly as he looks into your eyes. “I was thinking about how you’re going through something very big and very scary and that I don’t want you to face it all alone.”
“Eric…” You begin but he cuts you off by placing your palm over his heart.
“All of that other shit it doesn’t matter.” He tells you, his thumb stroking over the back of your hand. “All that does is that I’m still yours and you’re still mine. It really is as simple as that.”
