I'm rewatching all the Marvel Defenders shows on Netflix and as much as I mock the MCU now, I need non-Marvel fans to understand that I was and still am a fan of "Daredevil fighting the gentrifying assshole who bought out the police force because ACAB both as a lawyer and vigilante of the community" and "Jessica Jones fighting the man who mind controlled her into doing unspeakable things and forming a community of fellow survivors and allies while dealing with PTSD in a range of both healthy and unhealthy ways" Marvel. God I love these idiots they carried so hard
#vio.txt#mcu#marvel#jessica jones#daredevil#also the two of them induced so much bi panic in me. also gender envy. jessica jones is one of the few women i get gender envy fron#the iron fist and luke cage shows were...more mid but still leagues above current marvel shows#like. yes be anti-mcu but these were masterpieces#and yes this is why i was so pissed about them putting daredevil in she hulk and trying to make him iron man 2.0#like! yes hes suave and charming but thats bc its his lawyer job!! he works in a law firm he and his friends started to serve his community#he is NOT 'i am rich and better than u' charming. he is 'i learned how to talk fancy for my degree and i have empathy' charming#and not bringing the other guys over either???? bruhhh#marvel really cancelled the best things they did on the screen#matt murdock my original red and black round glasses wearing sadboy what did they do to you#also!! can i mention that these shows had such better representation than nowadays marvel#murdock's actor doing extensive research on blind motility for the role#jessica and trish's friendship and how trish immediately believes jess about kilgrave#the whole!!! unique community feel of harlem and in luke's bar#hogarth whos both jessica's employer and foggy's boss in later seasons being a lesbian and having Real Marriage Issues#and also being a conplex and kinda shitty person#iron fist was....eh but that's why it was the worst one lmao#OH YEAH HOW COULD I FORGET MY GIRL KAREN#karen page getting a whole storyline in s1 about her dealing w ptsd and then getting fleshed out backstory and her own adventures#like ok it was kinda weird in daredevil that she dated like every guy bc she was the female lead 💀#but even then foggy and matt and her figuring their shit out like adults. like they shot their shots and it didnt pan out. still besties th#disney would never allow such good writing in current times#but a boy can wish

IT IS BLACK HISTORY MONTH!! and.. IT’S BANNED?
Small commentary on the recent events developed.
By Kiél Young
Apparently our dearest president has decided to make sure that D.E.I. is paused and therefore any celebratory activities involving minorities are paused for the moment, this including the spectrum of Juneteenth, Black History Month and other minority celebrations and memorial ceremonies or accolades. However, it wasn’t made for him in the first place so we will ignoring the direction of our free world country “leader”. When looking at the stance of black history month, we are indebted no only to our ancestors to honor the month but to were indebted to the communities around us, we have the responsibility to teach it to our kids, to others, and to BE black history on a day to day basis outside of the month, support your community this month whether it’s visiting black history museums, libraries, businesses, bookshops, and don’t expect a handout or discount respect the facilities in which you support and if you cave in to going any of the companies such as Target that have rolled back their D.E.I.’s — support the black owned businesses and the businesses of maybe Latinx or indigenous communities. There’s so many things that we can do this month and uphold this month to be same stance that we do every single year and a pen and paper signed ain’t changing a thing! and it shouldn’t. Say it loud! I AM BLACK & I’M PROUD.

tignon law of 1786
in louisiana, during the 18th century, a law was passed in order to outcast and oppress black women of color by forcing them to cover their hair with scarves. this was due to the fact that white people (especially women according to online sources) were jealous of their hair because of how eye-catching it was, so it led to african american women’s hair getting regulated. this led to women becoming creative and finding ways to make the scarves beautiful and still be following the law, which didn’t end until 1803. the tignon law is just another example of poc getting oppressed because of an unfair and biased legal system.

I have never understood people that think love & monsters is the worst dw episode (I like it, sorry) but now that I'm 3 series deep into my rewatch I think the shakespeare code might be the worst one, or at least the most poorly aged. but I haven't even left rtd era yet so I might change my mind idk different horrors still await me
#this episode truly has everything#10 being flippant about martha's concerns about time travelling while black ('i'm an alien and they don't care' you're white dude !!!!)#gratuitous hp/jkr references. it was a bit cringe even before her reputation got flushed down the toilet#10 being a dick to martha just a bit generally. like man I can understand you're grieving but stop comparing her to rose? out loud?#also a lil transphobic joke i forgot about. that's nice#anyway this rewatch I have so much love for martha I am her defence lawyer#show is so mean to her and for what#falling in love with a man who kissed her on their first meeting and then showed her time and space?#god forbid women to anything#reilly.txt#doctor who

Women's Day 2024
Happy Women's Day! Three items were sent by mail in March 2024. They're not a full suit, but I figured I'd catalog them here anyway. The promo picture uses a lot of items that aren't part of the gift.

These items will probably return to the shop later on, as have most of the other Women's Day items. Here's the barrister's robes first, skateboarding items in the reblog. A barrister is a kind of lawyer in the UK.

I included an image description this time, because there weren't that many pictures.
