Regarding vampirism and goth culture--I'm really sick of seeing only white vampires! iwtv is the second show i've ever seen that has Black vampires (the first being the fucking muppets), and I really want to get into more stories with vampires who have skin tones other than #ffffff--one, do you have any recommendations (it's fine if not)? and two, i want to create a couple vampire ocs, and i was going to reference exsanguinated dead bodies for the changes in skin tone and pallor, but i just wanted to check to see if there was anything glaringly wrong with my plan? if this is a dumb question please ignore it lol. <33 much love

I think your plan makes sense! I've mentioned it before, but the one time "ashy" Black skin would make sense is in the Black undead, and instead people make them paler skinned 😭 You don't have to change their skin tone to change their pallor! Do not do that!

I’ve been working my way through vampire novels of the African diaspora and posting mini reviews on twitter. I wanted to read more diverse representations of vampires after watching AMC’s Interview With The Vampire and what really stands out is how few I can find- while 2 of these have been published just this year 1 was first published in 1819 and as you can see there’s only a handful. Of the ones I’ve read so far my favorites are Immortal Dark by Tigest Girma and House of Hunger by Alexis Henderson, but I will be updating.

I loved this book it’s a perfect auntumn book. Immortal dark is dark academia fantasy with black vampires that focus on anger, depression and revenge with complex main characters and a enemies and lovers trope, the dynamic between Kidan & Susenyos defines what a true enemies to lovers romance trope should be, there was so much hate passion between them it was incredible to read. The fact this is the author debut book it’s insane if you love Klaus Mikaelsom from tvd & the originals you would love this book. Can’t wait for the second book (5/5)
