Black Clover chapter 308

The bad news is that Langris got stabbed. The good news is it looks like it might be through his left shoulder so it’s possible that Zenon missed any vital organs.

Nice to see Patri is also involved in this battle. I’m curious if we’ll get to see him reunite with Vangeance or if Vangeance will also die when Yami does. So far we’ve gotten a lot of imagery to suggest Yami is going to die in this arc. What we don’t know yet is if he’ll survive the ritual only to die another way or if both Yami and Vangenace will die from the ritual before everything is settled.

Back during the Elf Reincarnation Arc, I was curious why Yuno didn’t need a new grimoire like everyone else. I reasoned that it was because the elf he was the reincarnation of was never born, therefore never had a grimoire. I also thought that that was why Yuno was able to snap out of the possession so quickly too since he was basically possessed by a baby. I hadn’t really considered that all this time Yuno was just using his past life’s grimoire.

It’s interesting though that Yuno’s grimoire was always in Spade since Yami managed to receive a grimoire despite being from somewhere else. However, in Yami’s case it seems that he comes from somewhere without such magic so perhaps that was why he could find a grimoire in Clover Kingdom without needing to be a reincarnation of anyone.

What I’m curious about now is what kind of magic Yuno might actually have and how strong his magic might be. We know from the Reincarnation Arc when the elves collected new grimoires, frequently their magic was very similar to their host’s magic (Gauche’s elf had mirrors, Charlotte’s elf had vines, etc…) so I’m looking for Yuno’s magic to be related to wind but not literally wind since it seems like Spade’s forces are expecting something other than straight up wind magic. Like for example, Yuno could have weather magic, which is how he can part the clouds and also retain a wind element throughout his spells.

What I would like to see towards the end of this arc is for Yuno to give up the wind grimoire like everyone else had to give up their elves’ grimoires. It would be nice for Smurik to be involved when the time comes because I highly super highly suspect he’s the surviving twin. If Yuno does give up the wind grimoire, it’ll be interesting to see what Sylph does since she latched onto him due to the deceased twin’s magic.

Also, personally I think Yuno giving up the wind grimoire would fit with how he seems to represent Kantianism, so he should reject using someone as a means to an end by the end of the arc.

Sarado:

Homegirl destroys the gym. Look at her for fucks sake, she is a powerlifter more than a bodybuilder focusing more on increasing capability. Beyond that tho, she is incapable of staying still for more than 5 mins unless its something super duper serious. So you can imagine nature walking and taking runs in fully on the table.

Patrof:

He (like one would expect) adores gardening, most of the gardens in the palace are taken care of by him, Lolopechka and the maidens. More than anything tho, he really likes taking care of and handling dangerous plats (read: poisonous and such), another pastime of his is, surprisingly enough, taking care of kids!! He is absolutely smitten with them and makes the best babysitter ever. He also gose to the gym with Sarado and Floga ever now and then

Floga:

Like Sarado he is SUCH a gym bro!! Look at him!! He is huge!! On another note, he likes reading a lot mostly reading horror/action books but he has a soft spot for mythology books and tragic plays (oddissy, Illiad, Electra ect). One of his least-known enjoyments is singing, he isn't the best but not the worst but this is more somthing he does when he is alone or at a public event and he is in the mood for a good song and dance. The other SG didnt know he could sing till a LONG time after they meet

Smurik:

He smokes weed. Im not joking bro hits that blunt a lot. But beyond that his ADHD ass cant really seem to stay on one hobby for too long before he finds something else he sees as interesting enough to put time in. Once, he knitted Sarado a scarf for her birthday and it still holds up to this day. Something more general tho is, well, he likes listening to the wind and playing the leafe whistle (read: whistling with a leafe)

Gajah:

He Star gazes a lot, it was something he did with his mom so it stuck with him. Out of all the guardians he struggles to find the line betwine work time and him time so that means he dosnt really do a much of anything. Especially after Lolo got cursed and after Spade in general. He is working on it though!! He wants to try his hand out at something creative (art, music writing ect) something that lets him de-stress and calm down (Potrof has suggested knitting)

Black Clover chapter 307 reaction and spoilers

Zenon offers his body and soul to Beelzebub in exchange for the Spade Kingdom’s continued existence. It’s striking because it’s a metaphor for some soldiers soldiering today. Zenon will give up his humanity in exchange for the longevity of his homeland despite the fact that means he will commit atrocities and war crimes. It also means possibly that Zenon, who might have had the greatest chance of pulling off a Piccolo in this arc, probably can’t due to the parts of himself he gambled away. It’s also in line with Dark Triad vs. Light Triad since it’s a rejection of humanism, faith in humanity, and Kantianism completely.

Zenon transforms into devil heart mode and the narrative rightfully points out that not only does he resemble Zagred, but without a human heart, he’s essentially already a devil.

I love how essentially Zenon and Yuno are fighting their own selves. They’re very similar people but Yuno is ever so slightly softer. Placed in the same situation, Yuno’s arrow misses its target to avoid Langris whereas Zenon sacrificed Allen and won. It’s also interesting that the narrative punishes Yuno here, but it’s also essential that Yuno fails here too. This an arc in which Yuno must keep failing because he’s never failed before properly. He needs to learn his mistake of thinking he learned enough, grew enough that he avoided training in Heart Kingdom. He has to learn even though he can manipulate mana more so than anyone around him, that it means nothing if he doesn’t train the skill. Since Yuno is a four-leaf clover and the fourth leaf is luck I think he will very much survive this war. Hopefully when this is all over, Yuno will be able to meet with Smurik whom I suspect is his past life’s twin.

A few pages ago it seemed like Yuno’s arrow cracked the space distortion, which explains why Finral is here now. I like that even though Finral and Langris only grew up together for part of their lives, Finral’s older brother instincts are so strong he acted without really thinking about it to save Langris from Zenon’s attack.

The narrative says that Finral was able to show up in the space distortion because “Langris’ Mana Zone makes it possible to activate spells.” That’s actually strangely cute because it means that Finral and Langris’ budding connection to each other and acceptance that they’re brothers that really started during the climax of the Elf Reincarnation Arc is the reason Finral is here. This is also a great way to illustrate how far the two of them have come since the start of the series as well.

Finral: If we're together, we can fight!!! Isn't that right, Langris?!! Langris: Seriously, you're one insolent big brother!!!

They grasp hands and prepare for a combined attack. Cannot wait to see what they can do as a team. I am hyped.

Black Clover episode 169 reaction and spoilers

Still kind of thinking Smurik might be Yuno’s previous incarnation’s twin. They look so similar, they both have wind magic, and Smurik did say he hoped to meet Yuno during the training filler. Descendant of that surviving twin is also possible.

”I hate the Black Bulls,” Nacht says and then proceeds to identify all of them he expected to be at the hideout like he hasn’t been checking in on them from the shadows periodically.

Also, very proud of Grey standing up for everybody. She’s come so far and I like how it’s not in some weird Hollywood makeover way.

Speaking of Nacht’s scale of disappointment in people, he says, “When evil looking people or those who have committed evil deeds in the past suddenly do something good, that twist makes them more likeable, and I absolutely hate that. The greatest people are those who are good from the start,” and it makes me even more confident that I’ve figured the scale out, but that would be getting into manga spoilers, so I’ll save that for another time.

Asta just marches into the summoning circle all “So what do I have to do?” without even considering terms and conditions. ilu, Asta

This whole everything is such peak Asta, from Asta thanking his devil for helping him out all this time to the devil being all “I’m going to kill you,” and Asta being like, “I CAN’T LET YOU DO THAT!” to Asta reasoning with his devil rather than fighting him, etc…. It’s why I love Asta so much.

Also it’s nice after seeing Asta have to abandon his political philosophy to fight the Dark Triad for it to show up again when he’s handling his devil who’s not crossed those types of lines and therefore can be reasoned with.

Asta, only noticing the skulls surrounding them when Nacht points them out, “Hey, is this devil-binding ritual something we shouldn’t be doing?!” ilu, Asta.

Everything else I want to say here I’ll save for next week. Really sad to see the anime go into indefinite hiatus (hopefully) next week. I’m going to miss it.
