The Orc family hate has finally broke me guys, so here's me ranting..
Someone I read on reddit today said correctly that (paraphrased here with tons of my own opinion added) these ROP Haters™ were initially all happy & excited with the show announcement pre character introductions. It was all well & good for them till the day ROP announced Ismael as an elf & Galadriel, a woman as the lead. Then these people got furious!
But most didn't want to bring forth or face their internalised misogyny & racism fueling this sentiment, so it became their life goal to dig into the legendarium to find points & tiny side notes to use to drag the show & justify the hate they were feeling.
From actively overlooking the meaning of 'Adaptation', to painting Newline Cinema & Warner Brothers as charity organizations unlike Amazon, to making PJ's story canon OVER Tolkien's, to digging up dirt on the producers being religious hence implying (pre premiere btw) that the show is pure christian propaganda... no stones were left unturned by varying varieties of ROP Haters™ who were all united at the pale white European elves & delicate feminine background character Galadriel front. All of which the rage bait youtubers utilise against ROP to this date!
Well this succeeded in affecting public sentiment during season 1 because the show was a little Tolkienian in pacing with characters & world building, along with the humongous Rights Problem & people being generally wary of prequels.
But by mid-end of Season 1 to now; despite the review bombing & all efforts for the past 2 years, neutral people started to watch the show themselves & realised one by one that it wasn't actually a disappointment as they were promised. It grew on some people without Hate in their heart & biases filling their minds! Hence the views & the positive comments grew, infuriating the Haters™ & fueling their mindless bullying.
Yet still these people were pretty sucessfully hiding behind their canon excuse untill The Orc Baby.
The Orc Family Hate & it's unhinged justification via convoluting the basic essence of LOTR; it shattered the illusion hiding what these ROP Haters™ are at their core.. just people desperate to destroy a thing that isn't in line with Their worldview. Because in their head the story is Theirs, the only valid interpretation is what They grew up watching & hence it owes Them to be made exactly how They deem correct!
Willing to distort a dead guy's life work to absolve themselves of their unjust hate & get a free pass to feel morally superior doing so!
Unhinged comments claiming the essence of Tolkien's writings is the existence of purely black & white differentiation of good & evil in his world!! Each one of them sounding like regurgitations from some youtuber's video who watched PJ's trilogy at 1.5× solely to farm hate veiws.
Frothing at the mouth over a 5 sec clip! Demanding a world where a whole race can be hated without using critical thinking; these are the same people who used to scream before last week that the reason they can't give ROP a chance is because ` They cannot watch a show without critical thinking `
Embarrassing hills these Haters™ keep dying on tbh
Haters™ does not equate honest critiques btw.. Haters™ are the delulu, moral superiority complex driven, hate stalkers of ROP. The show has faults & you can obviously point then out without being these people :)

Oh GOD you, too, are an online lectures geek pls consider this your invitation to talk about favs--ones that stuck with you, current obsessions--the more the better! In trade, I'll tell you the two things I'm currently adoring: Yale's Open Course podcast on The Civil War to Reconstruction done by David Blight (man forgot more than ten other civil war historians know even if he mumbles *constantly*) and A History of Christianity by Diarmaid MacCulloch (so! worth the Prime BBC free trial <3)
Hiya! Don't mind if I do!
So 99% of the lectures I've watched lately are on the Great Courses Plus which was recently and stupidly renamed "Wondrium", which I find profoundly stupid because instead of just saying, "Hey, check out the Great Courses, yeah you can kinda guess what the streaming service offers," I have to instead explain what this nonsense term "Wondrium" means, ANYWAY, they've got lectures about basically everything.
Essentially, it's Netflix but for college lectures. YouTube has become so unreliable as far as what's actual information and what's completely made up or even racist conspiracy theory BS that I find it completely untrustworthy. Also, most documentaries are trying to prove something new, or offer a new angle on something, OR they're SO rudimentary and 101 that even for topics I know less about in history I tend to already know everything they're going to say.
So I pivoted to college lectures because 1) it's a whole series so like, dozens of hours I can just throw on in the background while doing something mindless and 2) I know it's going to be trustworthy, reliable, and provide me a baseline on a topic instead of some "new controversial spin" on it. Like, goddammit, sometimes I just want to better understand the history of Ancient Egypt, not your stupid theory about how they were secretly all space aliens or that we've got the carbon dating all wrong or whatever made up nonsense.
So, here's a list of some of my favorites!
Hannibal: The Military Genius Who Almost Conquered Rome - I consider myself about as near an expert as a non-academic can get on Rome and this lecture actually taught me some things, which is rare, so I recommend it as a fantastic deep dive!
How the Crusades Changed History is a pretty good short version that I recommend to anyone who enjoyed The Old Guard's Nicky and Joe BUT, for the best Crusades lecture, I'd recommend this History of the Crusades podcast. Sharyn Eastaugh is not just insanely informative, but her dry wit made me laugh out loud at least once an episode at the sheer hapless ineptitude of the Crusaders.
In the Wake of the Plague is a fantastic new lecture by Wondrium, the lecturer is amazing and it provides a lot of objective insights into how humans react to plagues that is VERY relevant to current events, BUT their lecture on **The Black Death in general is the one that got me obsessed with their lecture series. I watched it in the first week of Covid lockdown and let me tell you, having this super in-depth, objective look into how people behaved during the Black Death was incredibly valuable (and chilling) going into those years because it all played out with astonishing similarity. Also, anything by that lecturer, Dorsey Armstrong, is awesome. She's a Medievalist of the highest order. I also recommend her lecture on King Arthur.
**The Birth of the Modern Mind: The Intellectual History of the 17th and 18th Centuries - this one wins the award for "Lecture I thought most likely to bore me to tears that ended up being the single most fascinating I've heard in YEARS." Seriously, the way it explores the evolution of how we think in the modern era, through the philosophers who first conceived of these ideas, was jaw-droppingly fascinating. I also recommend it to writers of historical fiction and fantasy for a crash course, by proxy, of how to write people who think differently than you.
The Other Side of History: Daily Life in the Ancient World - I once had beef with a post here on Tumblr that claimed that academic Classicists don't care about slaves or normal people during the Roman Empire, which is just profoundly absurd. I pointed out this lecture to them if they actually wanted to learn more about the subject instead of complaining that an art history professor may not have been prepped for a lecture about the lives of enslaved people in Ancient Rome. If that is a subject of interest, this lecture is great.
The Real History of Pirates - a must-listen for OFMD fans who want to get an introduction to historical pirates and the history of pirates in literature, which "Our Flag Means Death" owes as much if not more to than the historical figures.
**Turning Points in Middle Eastern History - One of the first lectures I listened to and still one of my enduring favorites. It's the first one I picked up for writing my Old Guard fic, Lights Out, when I wanted to write Joe from a more informed angle and I learned so much.
Understanding Japan: A Cultural History - One of my favorite lectures based on format, the lecturer picks a literary work or cultural concept as the entry point to explore the timeline of Japanese history. It's a fantastic way to give a wider and more holistic look at each era, pairing it with a cultural touchstone.
Shout-out to "The Mysterious Etruscans" because I just think they're neat. The lecturer is also very good and I highly recommend his lecture on ancient cities as well which taught me a lot that I didn't know.
Also a shout out to, "Warriors, Queens, and Intellectuals: 36 Great Women before 1400" for its subject and the lecturer who is great and she also has a really fascinating talk about the history of Spain.
Ok, I THINK that's some of the top ones! ;D

Below are 10 Wikipedia featured articles. Links and descriptions are below the cut.
The American paddlefish (Polyodon spathula), also known as a Mississippi paddlefish, spoon-billed cat, or spoonbill, is a species of ray-finned fish. It is the last living species of paddlefish (Polyodontidae). This family is most closely related to the sturgeons; together they make up the order Acipenseriformes, which are one of the most primitive living groups of ray-finned fish. Fossil records of other paddlefish species date back 125 million years to the Early Cretaceous, with records of Polyodon extending back 65 million years to the early Paleocene. The American paddlefish is a smooth-skinned freshwater fish with an almost entirely cartilaginous skeleton and a paddle-shaped rostrum (snout), which extends nearly one-third its body length. It has been referred to as a freshwater shark because of its heterocercal tail or caudal fin resembling that of sharks, though it is not closely related. The American paddlefish is a highly derived fish because it has evolved specialised adaptations such as filter feeding. Its rostrum and cranium are covered with tens of thousands of sensory receptors for locating swarms of zooplankton, its primary food source.
The fauna of Scotland is generally typical of the northwest European part of the Palearctic realm, although several of the country's larger mammals were hunted to extinction in historic times and human activity has also led to various species of wildlife being introduced. Scotland's diverse temperate environments support 62 species of wild mammals, including a population of wild cats, important numbers of grey and harbour seals and the most northerly colony of bottlenose dolphins in the world. Many populations of moorland birds, including the black and red grouse, live here, and the country has internationally significant nesting grounds for seabirds such as the northern gannet. The Scottish crossbill is the only endemic vertebrate species in the UK. Scotland's seas are among the most biologically productive in the world; it is estimated that the total number of Scottish marine species exceeds 40,000. The Darwin Mounds are an important area of deep sea cold water coral reefs discovered in 1998. Only six amphibians and four land reptiles are native to Scotland, but many species of invertebrates live there that are otherwise rare in the United Kingdom.
Several attempts at a Franco-Mongol alliance against the Islamic caliphates, their common enemy, were made by various leaders among the Frankish Crusaders and the Mongol Empire in the 13th century. Such an alliance might have seemed an obvious choice: the Mongols were already sympathetic to Christianity, given the presence of many influential Nestorian Christians in the Mongol court. The Franks—Western Europeans, and those in the Levantine Crusader states—were open to the idea of support from the East, in part owing to the long-running legend of the mythical Prester John, an Eastern king in an Eastern kingdom who many believed would one day come to the assistance of the Crusaders in the Holy Land. The Franks and Mongols also shared a common enemy in the Muslims. However, despite many messages, gifts, and emissaries over the course of several decades, the often-proposed alliance never came to fruition.
The Free State of Galveston (sometimes referred to as the Republic of Galveston Island) was a satirical name given to the coastal city of Galveston in the U.S. state of Texas during the early-to-mid-20th century. Today, the term is sometimes used to describe the culture and history of that era. During the Roaring Twenties, Galveston Island emerged as a popular resort town, attracting celebrities from around the country. Gambling, illegal liquor, and other vice-oriented businesses were a major part of tourism. The "Free State" moniker embodied a belief held by many locals that Galveston was beyond what they perceived were repressive mores and laws of Texas and the United States. In one of the more famous examples of this, a state committee, investigating gambling at the fabled Balinese Room, was told by the local sheriff that he had not raided the establishment because it was a "private club" and because he was not a "member".
The Kylfings (Old Norse Kylfingar; Estonian Kalevid; Hungarian Kölpények; Old East Slavic Колбяги, Kolbiagi; Byzantine Greek Κουλπίγγοι, Koulpingoi; Arabic al-Kilabiyya) were a people of uncertain origin active in Northern Europe during the Viking Age, roughly from the late ninth century to the early twelfth century. They could be found in areas of Lapland, Russia, and the Byzantine Empire that were frequented by Scandinavian traders, raiders and mercenaries. Scholars differ on whether the Kylfings were ethnically Finnic or Norse. Also disputed is their geographic origin, with Denmark, Sweden and the Eastern Baltic all put forward as candidates. Whether the name Kylfing denotes a particular tribal, socio-political, or economic grouping is also a matter of much debate.
Mosasaurus (/ˌmoʊzəˈsɔːrəs/; "lizard of the Meuse River") is the type genus (defining example) of the mosasaurs, an extinct group of aquatic squamate reptiles. It lived from about 82 to 66 million years ago during the Campanian and Maastrichtian stages of the Late Cretaceous. The genus was one of the first Mesozoic marine reptiles known to science—the first fossils of Mosasaurus were found as skulls in a chalk quarry near the Dutch city of Maastricht in the late 18th century, and were initially thought to be crocodiles or whales. One skull discovered around 1780 was famously nicknamed the "great animal of Maastricht". In 1808, naturalist Georges Cuvier concluded that it belonged to a giant marine lizard with similarities to monitor lizards but otherwise unlike any known living animal. This concept was revolutionary at the time and helped support the then-developing ideas of extinction.
Several organisms are capable of rolling locomotion. However, true wheels and propellers—despite their utility in human vehicles—do not play a significant role in the movement of living things (with the exception of certain flagella, which work like corkscrews). Biologists have offered several explanations for the apparent absence of biological wheels, and wheeled creatures have appeared often in speculative fiction.
The existence of a slate industry in Wales is attested since the Roman period, when slate was used to roof the fort at Segontium, now Caernarfon. The slate industry grew slowly until the early 18th century, then rapidly during the Industrial Revolution in Wales until the late 19th century, at which time the most important slate producing areas were in northwest Wales. These sites included the Penrhyn Quarry near Bethesda, the Dinorwic Quarry near Llanberis, the Nantlle Valley quarries, and Blaenau Ffestiniog, where the slate was mined rather than quarried. Penrhyn and Dinorwig were the two largest slate quarries in the world, and the Oakeley mine at Blaenau Ffestiniog was the largest slate mine in the world.
The social history of viruses describes the influence of viruses and viral infections on human history. Epidemics caused by viruses began when human behaviour changed during the Neolithic period, around 12,000 years ago, when humans developed more densely populated agricultural communities. This allowed viruses to spread rapidly and subsequently to become endemic. Viruses of plants and livestock also increased, and as humans became dependent on agriculture and farming, diseases such as potyviruses of potatoes and rinderpest of cattle had devastating consequences.
The High Middle Ages of Scotland encompass Scotland in the era between the death of Domnall II in 900 AD and the death of King Alexander III in 1286, which was an indirect cause of the Wars of Scottish Independence. At the close of the ninth century, various competing kingdoms occupied the territory of modern Scotland. Scandinavian influence was dominant in the northern and western islands, Brythonic culture in the southwest, the Anglo-Saxon or English Kingdom of Northumbria in the southeast and the Pictish and Gaelic Kingdom of Alba in the east, north of the River Forth. By the tenth and eleventh centuries, northern Great Britain was increasingly dominated by Gaelic culture, and by the Gaelic regal lordship of Alba, known in Latin as either Albania or Scotia, and in English as "Scotland".

Maria and Georgie were what people call the “it couple," solely because they contrasted with each other but also complemented each other. And people like that. The golden retriever boyfriend and the black cat girlfriend, as they like to call them too among the many nicknames they gave them. Maria is book smart, while Georgie is street smart. The girl always thought about how amazing Georgie is when it comes to businesses, and she knows that he will be successful in that field someday.
Maria was putting her things on her locker when Georgie suddenly appeared next to her, placing a soft peck on her cheek. “Hey darling.” Georgie is an affectionate person; as much as he wants to place more than a peck on her cheek, he knows that it’s outside her comfort zone. But he was surprised when Maria also turned to him and gave him a peck on the cheek. “What was that for? "He got out of his shocked state and began smiling widely, brushing his hair back bashfully as he stood up straight from leaning on the lockers.
The girl avoided eye contact with her boyfriend, being all shy about giving affection out in public and to her nonetheless. “I just want to give my boyfriend a kiss on the cheek. Why? "Maria pretended it did not affect her, but Georgie could see her ears turning red.
“You know I wouldn’t mind you not showing that much affection to me, darling.” He smiled softly at her when she still refused to look at him. He put a strand of hair behind her ear, making her finally look at him. “I prefer you show your love only with me, behind closed doors, and away from people. It makes me feel special.”
“You are so corny, Georgie Cooper.”
“Corny? I’d like to think I’m sweet.” He smirked at her after noticing her silence. “How about I take you on a date tonight? It’s been a while.” Maria pretended to think about her decision before looking at Georgie’s amused face. “You know you can say no if you don’t want to, but I know you want to.”
Maria rolled her eyes, shutting her locker. “How kind of you to decide for me, love.” Her comment made the boy’s smile drop, thinking that he might’ve overstepped his boundaries, but when Maria noticed his sudden mood change, she nudged him softly. “You’re overthinking things; of course I would love to go on a date with you.” She smiled when he also started forming his signature dimpled smile.
“How about at my place? I prepared something special, I promise. And my parents aren’t home later so we had the place to ourselves” Georgie beamed at her, feeling incredibly happy. Even after months of dating, Maria never failed to make Georgie’s heart beat like crazy. It’s a bonus since his parents and hers approve of them. Mary the most after learning that Maria is a Christian girl. At some point, Mary even told Georgie not to come home unless he started dating Maria. It was Georgie’s free will to date Maria, but it’s also because he likes that his family likes her.
Even Sheldon, who rarely likes anybody, but somehow and unfortunately for the oldest Cooper sibling, Maria has been one of his friends. And that is saying something. Although Georgie does not approve, he really didn't have a choice either way when he got caught fighting with Sheldon by Maria. Least to say, Georgie always made sure to argue with Sheldon when his girlfriend wasn't around.
“A dinner date, I think that’s romantic," Georgie said, feeling proud of himself. He picked up Maria’s bag as they went to their class.
・‥...━━━━━━☆☆━━━━━━...‥・
“I’ll drive to your house later,” Maria said, prepping her keys as Georgie walked her to her car. He frowned and raised his eyebrows in concern. “Are you sure? You know I can always pick you up.” Maria nodded her head in acknowledgement. “I know, but I don’t want to bother you any further–” Georgie cut her off. “Darling, you will never be a bother.” Maria smiled at him, feeling all tingly inside. “I’m just saying, I want to go there myself; give you more time to prepare.”
Georgie widened his eyes in realization: “Damn, you’re right. Well, I trust you to take care of yourself, darling.” Maria rolled her eyes playfully as his accent got stronger with every word he said. Pretending to be scolding her. “Well, little lady, I’ll see you later.” He opened the car door for her as Maria placed a kiss on his cheek once more. Georgie smiled giddily while closing the car door and waited for her to drive off, placing a hand on his cheek before walking to his own car.
・‥...━━━━━━☆☆━━━━━━...‥・
Georgie opened the door to their home, announcing his presence. “Hey Georgie,” Mary greeted him, messing around the kitchen. “Will Maria be here later?” His mom asked suspiciously. “Yeah why?” Georgie furrowed his brows together at his mom’s suspicious tone.
“Georgie Cooper, you better not do any funny business while your father and I are away. I managed to convince Mom by letting the twins stay at her place for you to have some privacy.” Mary pointed her finger at her eldest son. “I only agreed for this date to happen because it’s Maria," Georgie scrunched his nose at his mother. “And because we’re poor, Mom,” Mary went silent at that, knowing that it’s a bit true. They were not well off, but they can manage.
Mary shook her head before turning her attention back to his son. “I swear to our heavenly father that if we come back here and are greeted with a grandchild—"
Georgie walked away shouting, “Oh my God! Stop talking, please!”
・‥...━━━━━━☆☆━━━━━━...‥・
Georgie put on the last touches to their backyard, turning it into a fairy-like setting. With little paper butterflies hanging around, a table at the center, and Christmas lights (because that’s the only thing he saw) surrounding the entire space, needless to say, he did a great job.
He also asked Mary if she could teach him cooking; in the end, Mary helped him cook since she didn’t trust her eldest son alone in her kitchen. But she did, however, feel proud of her son for making such an effort for his girl.
And so Georgie, with his semi-formal attire and fixed hairstyle, waited. And waited. And waited. But Maria didn’t come.
The boy was confused and hurt. But he didn’t want to jump to conclusions. So Georgie watched the candle go out and went inside with a heavy frown. He didn’t even notice Sheldon and Missy were sneaking inside the house.
“Where’s Maria? I thought you were having a date," Sheldon asked before speaking again, not at all reading the mood of his brother. “Fun fact about date—“
“I’m not in the fucking mood, Sheldon," Georgie snapped, making the twins flinch at his sudden cursing. “I thought you were at Meemaw’s?” He asked irritatedly.
Missy frowned at her brother’s attitude as Sheldon wanted to say something before his sister cut her off: “We were; we just want to get some things and go back.”
“Do whatever you want; just leave me alone.” Georgie walked over to his bedroom and slammed it shut. Sheldon and Missy were whispering as they also shut the front door after roaming around the house. Tears gathered in Georgie’s eyes as he frustratedly threw his jacket down and messed his hair. His curls all bounce into place.
What did I do wrong? We were doing fine earlier. Georgie put his hands on his face as he sat down in the comfort of his bed. Maybe something happened, and she just forgot to call me.
As if someone were listening to his thoughts, their telephone rang, making Georgie rush out of his bedroom and quickly pick up the phone. “Hello?!” He answered frantically, panting from his previous rapid movements.
Georgie froze at what he heard before he rushed outside the door, quickly went inside his vehicle, and drove off faster than his regular speed. His eyes were blinking back the tears.
・‥...━━━━━━☆☆━━━━━━...‥・
“Georgie?" A sobbing sound was heard from the other end of the call, where Georgie realized it was Maria’s mother. “Mrs. Taylor? Is everything okay? Is Maria there?”
He heard Maria’s mother take a deep breath as her sniffles were heard. “Maria was rushed to the hospital; a car with a drunk driver crashed into hers. We were informed that her car flipped over, and she hit her head hard on the steering wheel.” Georgie didn’t know what to say; he didn’t know what to think.
Was it his fault? Surely it must be his. If he insisted on picking you up, you wouldn’t be in this mess. No, if he didn’t just decide to have a date today, this wouldn’t happen.
“We just want to tell you because I know that my daughter needs you more than ever. She’s fighting for her life here.” Maria’s mother cried harder when remembering her daughter’s state.
Georgie finally snapped out of his train of thought and hung up. Rushing to his car after picking up his keys. Slamming their front door shut.
・‥...━━━━━━☆☆━━━━━━...‥・
Georgie ran inside the hospital, pushing people away from the receptionist. “Maria Taylor, where is she?”
“Sir, you need to fall in line—“
“Where is she?!” Georgie asked angrily once more. The poor receptionist typed on her computer quickly, not wanting to anger the stressed-out teen, “She’s in the ER as of the moment.”
Georgie ran again, trying to locate the emergency room, before finally seeing his girlfriend’s parents. They heard rapid footsteps nearing them as they lifted their heads and saw the panting boy.
Maria’s mother quickly hugged the boy, sobbing again. Her father just stood behind her, looking worried for both his wife and daughter. Georgie hugged her mother back before they all sat down and waited for someone to inform them of Maria’s condition.
Several hours later, a nurse came and informed them that Maria was awake, although a little out of it.
All of them rushed to her room. Georgie hung back, letting her parents fuss over their daughter. He just stood behind her parents, finally seeing Maria’s condition.
She has a bruise on her left eye, her head wrapped in bandages, and her arm on a sling. Her face and the rest of her body are filled with scars from what he assumes came from glass shards. She still looks beautiful to him.
And it pains him to see her look briefly at him before she turns back to her parents.
It’s like Georgie didn’t matter in her eyes.
“Mom? Dad?” Maria called to them as they kept on fussing around her, “Yes sweetie?” Her dad answered back, waiting patiently for what her daughter had to say.
“Who is he?”

mase: LMFAO cya
you were grateful for the friendships you’d made recently, especially because of how funny some of these guys were. you finished getting dressed and made your way down to your uber to head over to Christian’s place.
as you arrived at the party, you were greeted by Christian and you noticed just how packed his place had been. the party was bigger than you thought it’d be. you looked around the place in search of Sophia, one of Christian’s teammates' girlfriends. you made eye contact with her from across and she waved at you signalling you to come over to where she was. as you approached her she welcomed you with a hug and the rest of the boys greeted you as well. you looked over at Mason and noticed he was wearing all black, similar to you. “trying to be like me, yeah?”. you chuckled at Mason as you teased his outfit. “the objective was to mock you, y/n. don’t be flattered now”. Mason offered you a wink after making a rude remark so in return you stole his cup. you thanked him for the drink as you walked away elsewhere.
after a few drinks, you started to feel a little tipsy and that was when Sophia invited you over to dance with her. you two were jamming together until Mason showed up and stole you away from her. you took the blunt that he had in between his fingers and took a quick spliff. “Mason, aren’t you like not allowed to smoke?”. you put your arms over his shoulders as he pulled you in closer by your waist. “once in a while can’t hurt, right?”. you shook your hand. “yeah you’re done with that”. you handed over the blunt to Sophia so you could keep it away from Mason. Mason sighed in annoyance but truly all that mattered to him at that moment was that he was with you. he couldn’t care less about some blunt when the girl of his dreams was dancing with him. “you look incredibly beautiful tonight, y/n”. you smiled up at him, your eyes heavy as you were crossfaded. “do i also look tired?”. you frowned up at him. “i kinda wanna go home”. Mason looked down at his watch, 1:49 am, perhaps it was time for you to head home. “alright, come on. i’ll take you to my place”.
as you arrived at Mason’s home, you struggled to walk in your heels, so he practically carried you inside. it was obvious that you were way more out of it than he was. Mason’s brought you over to his guest room and helped you take your heels off. he brought you over a pair of pjs you’d left at his place last time you spent the night and gave you some time to get changed. “Mason! my makeup! you need to help me take it off”. Mason sighed, grabbing the makeup wipes he’d kept around just for you. “y/n, stay still, i don’t wanna rip your eyelashes off”. you just looked at Mason smiling the entire time. “you’re so nice, Masey. thank you for helping me take my makeup off”. it was obvious how drunk you were just by the way you spoke. “of course, anything for you”. Mason smiled at you. “Mason you have such a pretty smile. i love your dimples”. you grabbed his face just so you could get a better look. at this point, Mason had already begun blushing. “i could say the same about you”.
Mason got up and turned off your lights, intending to go back to his own room now. but all of a sudden, he had the urge to confess his feelings to you. “y/n?”. you rolled over on your side to face him. “yes, Masey?”. “i’m in love with you”. you began to laugh. “Masey, let’s lay off the drugs, ya?”. you honestly could not take him seriously at this moment. you were sure this was just another prank of his. “right”. he looked disappointed in himself for even considering saying anything to her. he had just embarrassed himself. “goodnight y/n”. “goodnight Masey, i love you”. he walked out of the guest room and whispered under his breath. “yeah, i love you too”.

So...
I've learned more about the couch fucker❤️. Also against my will. I'll link the article below. It's hbomberguy levels of biased so take that as you will.
So JD Vance wrote a forward for a book with a release date that has been pushed back until a week after the election. But early copies n all. Someone read it and wrote an article that will go into more detail than I will.
BUT what it does do, at the very least is contextualize some Republican actions.
If you've been watching the news I'm sure you've noticed that the right and left are currently occupying 2 different realities. One is supported by objective fact the other is... currently under siege by a nonexistent violent wave of immigrants stealing *checks notes* Black jobs. They're also apparently pedophiles and murderers because that wasn't enough.
Regardless, this read helped me understand their actions. Because, I find, when people go this far their actions are *logical* if only to themselves.
Here's my totally biased take on what's going on.
To understand Republicans you must acknowledge that their reality is fundamentally different. It is constantly under attack (by whom? Everyone) There is no freedom but *your* freedom codified somewhere between the Civil War and the 1920s (people are saying 50s but it's the 20s they don't just want bodily autonomy they want to take away the right of women to vote, you can find the sentiment in tradwife spaces and in JD Vances mentors statements) your prejudices may extend well into the 50s for non white individuals. So long as white meets modern definitions.
So first and foremost you must know that China is an existential threat. As is globalization. China, in particular, is stealing American manufacturing jobs, spying on you, stealing from you, brainwashing your kids etc. You're probably on the cusp of war.
Hence the weird 2018 policies and the TikTok ban.
The way to combat this? Prayer, family values (the nuclear family is the bedrock of American values) and bringing back low paying manufacturing jobs but for that you need more bodies.
Prayer comes first. A man's religion shapes his morality and the only religion that counts is your specific brand of Christianity. (Hence the move to add the 10 commandments in schools and in school prayer). Having that will unite the US in faith which is important because...
Babies! There aren't enough babies!! But remaining willfully child free is not a financial or personal choice. It's a choice predicated on a lack of Faith. You don't have kids? You have no faith in the American future and you have no faith in the fact that God and community will help you make ends meet. Having children is not only an American duty but a godly one. (Note: church and state are a single unit)
Hence the abortion laws and the refusal to grant the right to birth control. [Birth control has made having children seem "unnatural" and was funded by eugenicists to cut down the population, porn and modern tech have made men impotent] Also likely the reason to defund public education as public schools have to follow laws that privately funded schools do not. Besides all that new labor force [in predominantly poor areas who will need to Golden Ticket their way into a good private school, look up voucher programs for more on this] need not be educated enough to understand how much they're being taken advantage of.
Gun laws comes from the distrust in cops and big government!! Yes!!! Oddly enough the thin blue line values do not extend here! The Uvalde shooting was *that* bad. But you must protect yourself with roving bands of militias should a BLM protest come your way! Remember the Koreatown values after the Rodney King debacle? That. The ability to arm yourself and defend your community and beliefs from threats by m&m haired liberals and BLM will harken back to the days of the wild west the most American time there was!
By doing all this you can reestablish old values, reinvigorate the economy, and bring back American strength!
If you're sitting back thinking none of this makes sense and will in fact make things worse... you must remember that you have been trained to be afraid and angry. At all times you are scared and you are angry because you are scared. You are under constant attack the rest of your community echoes these sentiments back at you.
Doubting your leader is akin to doubting faith. Leaving any of this means you risk losing your community. You will be alone and belittled, without God, without friends, without family, without structure and all that's left is the world you have learned from a very young age, hates you for your very existence.

Divide and Conquer
That’s what the history books will say led to the success of the fascist American empire.
The American people were so busy fighting each other. Liberal vs. Conservative. Black vs. White. Rich vs. Poor. Able vs. Disabled. Christians vs. Atheists. Straight vs. Queer. Born Citizens vs. Immigrants.
These titles we’ve imposed upon ourselves are just lines they’ve drawn to trick us into thinking that we’re different. That were enemies. That there is a wrong and right within the American people, but the only thing wrong with this country is the people in charge. Our so called leaders profiting off the victimization of their own people.
“The land of the free” but the only ones actually free to do as they wish are the same ones promoting that propaganda. Most modern empires survive for a few hundred years before a revolution wipes the slate clean and those left get to try again, try to do better. America is long overdue for some change, this country has passed its expiration date. But the government has such a solid grip on its people, a grip that threatens more and more each day to snatch our final breaths right from our throats, that we can’t even imagine a world in which our voice matters. But it does, it’s the only thing that does, they have power because we let them, but it’s supposed to be an equal transaction, and yet most of us can barely afford to live while they spend our money on supporting genocide and senseless war.
And I’m sick of it. I’m so tired of feeling so useless, so voiceless, so small, when I know that our government would be nothing without us. They poison our air, our water, our food, our minds, all to keep us fat, sick, and dumb. But they forget that they would be nothing without us. They forget that the second we’re done with them and their ideals and rules, that it’s all over.
The American people need to wake up.
The American people need to take back their voice. The American people need to shout and get loud and say “No More.”
The American people need to take back their country, before it’s too late. Before there are no American people left. ✊🏾

What are those riots about in your country at the moment? I keep seeing about it online but I don’t understand what it’s about
Feel free to ignore, sorry if its an uncomfortable question
possible tw undercut —
I’ll summarise it best as can, but did you hear about those stabbings about those three little girls at a taylor swift dance club/ event?
basically someone/ people online gave misinformation about the killers race. they said the boy (the killer) was muslim when he in fact wasn’t. he’s black and his parents are from rwanda (which is a predominantly christian country. im saying this bc it ties in later)
so these far right extremists (white supremacists) are all up in arms bc they hate anyone that isn’t white basically. so these extremists (essentially terrorists) have been rioting ‘because of the girls that were killed’ except that’s utter bollocks bc they attended a vigil for these girls and were rowdy, drunk, destructive pieces of scum. they rioted at the vigil and were being incredibly inconsiderate to the lives lost while simultaneously pushing their racist political agenda (btw most traveled from neighbouring cities, so they’re not even members of the community, and had no ties or connection to the girls)
so they turn up wearing english flags, carrying crates of beer and chanting racist things and destroying things. they destroyed mosques and places of worship and are basically terrorising poc simply bc they’re ’not english’
and then since then there’s been tonnes of riots in dozens of cities where they’ve been setting things on fire, throwing fireworks at the police, destroying buildings etc. seen ambulances and police cars set on fire in the street, properties damaged, poc of colour getting attacked and stabbed
there’s a thing going around about dates and cities for these riots. it’s truly horrible
talking of which, please be careful anyone that lives in or near those cities🤍

My name's BringontheBakers/BlameitontheBakers but you can call me Baile
Just your average RE7:B enjoyer who's really good at roleplaying
I am a minor though so don't get too freaky smh
Here's some of my HC's for your favorite nuclear family (post/pre mutation)
Marguerite
Bisexual.
55-57 years old.
Housewife (obviously)
She's usually very friendly towards guests and visitors but can get snappy if they question her or her house rules.
Has that maternal vibe. She has so much maternal love so she needs to get that out somewhere while she waits for her grandchildren.
Very protective of her children and husband.
She enjoys cooking and baking in her free time along with knitting and reading.
Has a very obvious southern drawl in her voice that draws most people in.
Has no idea 2 of her children are menaces to society.
Very much enjoys dancing with her husband to whatever elderly country people listen to.
More or less the disciplinary parent.
Her text is orange.
Jack
52-54
Heterosexual/Bicurious.
Hunter (he also runs a Bed n Breakfast on occasion)
He's got that southern drawl in his voice too but it's slightly less noticeable than Marguerite's.
Very devoted to and protective of his children and wife. Bro probably has a bunch of legally owned guns and other weapons.
Devout Christian of course.
Much like Marguerite, he also has a surplus amount of paternal care and love that he hands out like candy.
Enjoys watching TV, cooking with his wife, spending time with his children and hunting/butchering the things he's hunted.
Would never lay a hand on his wife or children (Lucas is an exception)
definitely has that dad bod lol.
Not as much of a disciplinary parent as Marguerite but if his kids were doing something dangerous he'd never let them hear the end of it.
His text is blue.
This man eats A LOT.
Jack & Marguerite relationship HC's
They are very active. That's all I'll say XD
They're as cringey as a fresh high school couple (please save us)
Since I HC Marguerite as older than Jack, I like to think that he teases her about it:
"Look at what Zoe picked out for me at the 'You're Still Alive?' store. Now, I'm definitely old enough to pick out my own clothes."
"You're old enough to pick out clothes for Adam and Eve."
Another example is
"$250? Do you know what I could've done with $250 back in MY day?"
"A blind date with Fredrick Douglass? A fully furnished cave? Ha, FIRE? Hahahahaaaaaaaaaa!"
Jack calm down she is NOT that old man smh.
But even with her aging Jack loves his wife very deeply, and she loves him too of course. a lil too much smh.
Zoe
23-24 years old.
Questioning (Lesbian)
Probably the most normal of the Baker children.
Total daddy's girl. She literally still calls his ass daddy IN GAME like girl omfg.
Slight heterochromia.
She's somewhat afraid of her younger siblings and is very concerned about their well being. She questions how the hell she is related to them sometimes.
She can be very wary of visitors, but if they come often enough she'll become more comfortable with them.
She's the only other family member who can properly use a gun. Jack hesitates to teach Lucas and insists Bailey isn't old enough to.
Occasionally does mechanical work.
She's very good with coding, but nowhere near as good as Lucas.
Hesitant to spend time with her siblings (she can handle Lucas and Bailey individually but them together is chaotic) but since they usually act more human-like around their parents she can tolerate them.
Gets very flustered easily (take full advantage of this pleas-)
Her text is black/white.
Lucas
21-22 years old.
Heterosexual (he's in denial)
Everyone's worse nightmare.
If Jack had a least favorite child it would have to be him. Jack sometimes really gets annoyed by Lucas' rudeness and social ineptness.
Lucas tends to be very distant from his family unless he's annoying them, complaining about them, or teasing them. He does care about his family but he can't help but be a bit of a brat.
He's a very good hacker. It's a good thing the family has limited electronics, or they'd be in for hell.
Chooses to be emo and mysterious. Marguerite is very worried about him. Jack just thinks its a phase.
Loves poking around in places he ain't supposed to. Mostly to get a reaction.
Does NOT like being teased and embarrassed by his parents and that's why he goes out without them.
His text is green.
Bailey (OC)
19-20 years old
Pansexual Asexual.
She/her/they/them
Mommy and daddy's girl.
Literally the only reason she's still living with these people despite having 2+ degrees.
She also goes mining for gems. If she does happen to find some she'll just sculpt and sell them for money so she can feed her sugar addiction.
Despite being literally an eldritch abomination towards anyone else she's such a sweetheart to her parents.
Does shady scientific experiments in a secret room (that big ass house HAS to have one) yeah take her degree away now.
Lucas has access to that room because he happened to stumble across it while being nosy. He only gets to stay because he blackmailed them.
This fat ass literally pays her mother to make her food omfg. specifically desserts.
If Marguerite were to ever ask 'you got McDonald's money?' the answer would be yes smfh.
Whenever her parents display even the smallest bit of affection towards each other she immediately moves to another planet.
They have polycoria. (3 pupils in both eyes.) and never make direct eye contact because of it.
Her text is purple.
I got some AU's that I might share later too and I'm open to hearing about yours or roleplaying them hehe.
That's it for now, see you when I'm feeling weird again I guess.

A Black Philadelphia Reader: An exerpt
Tumblr media
The common date given for the settlement of Philadelphia is 1682, when William Penn established a Quaker colony, providing it with a name that means “one who loves his brother.” Penn intended an idyllic “greene country towne,” one that was well ordered, with large open spaces within its twelve hundred acres. It “was the first major American town to be planned.” Penn envisioned his “towne” as a place of freedom, particularly in terms of religion. As with a certain amount of history, much of this is myth. The land, of course, had been settled by the Lenape Indians long before the Europeans arrived. Additionally, Penn’s “greene country towne” soon became a highly congested city, plagued by disease, crime, and fires. Its vaunted freedom was largely limited to White Protestants, and its “brotherly love” certainly did not extend to most immigrants, to non-Christians, or, in particular, to its Black residents.
Blacks have been at the center of Philadelphia’s history since before it was even known by that name. More than two thousand Blacks lived in the area once called New Sweden between 1638 and 1655. The fledgling colony encompassed parts of western Delaware and parts of Pennsylvania that now include Philadelphia. One of the most famous of these settlers was Antoni Swart (Black Anthony), a West Indian who arrived in the colony in 1639 aboard a Swedish vessel. Though initially enslaved, records indicate he eventually became free and was employed by Governor Johan Printz.
The history of Black Philadelphians has been one fraught with both great promise and shattered dreams from its beginnings until today. Philadelphia was, as historian Gary Nash observes, “created in an atmosphere of growing Negrophobia”; still, despite ongoing racial prejudice, “it continues to this day to be one of the vital urban locations of black Americans.” It is this paradoxical condition that is the most characteristic dynamic of the city’s relationship with its Black citizens. One facet of this relationship has been constant: whether African Americans have thrived here or suffered egregious oppression, they have never remained silent, never letting anyone else define their situation for them. They have always voiced their own opinions about their condition in their city through fiction, poetry, plays, essays, diaries, letters, or memoirs. The city has been blessed with a number of significant authors, ranging, among others, from Richard Allen to W. E. B. Du Bois to Jessie Fauset to Sonia Sanchez to John Edgar Wideman to Lorene Cary. In addition, there have been numerous lesser known but also forceful figures as well, including the enslaved people Alice and Cato, who were only known by those names. Whether they were native sons and daughters or spent significant time in the city or were there only long enough to experience the city in an impactful moment, Philadelphia has touched them all deeply. This anthology is a documentation of and a tribute to their collective voice. The focus here is not just on writers with a Philadelphia connection but on the authors’ views on the city itself. The hope is to provide a wide variety of Black perspectives on the city.
There is something special about what leading African American intellectual W. E. B. Du Bois once labeled “the Philadelphia Negro.” One reason for this uniqueness is the city’s relationship to its Black inhabitants, in part caused by their intertwined, virtually symbiotic, history. No other major Northern city in the country has had such a long connection with African Americans, one forged in the seventeenth century, and Blacks have never stopped coming. They first settled largely in what are now called the Old City and Center City, where some Blacks still live. They have since scattered throughout the city, sometimes by choice but often by necessity and force, today mostly residing in Northern and Western Philadelphia. Migration patterns have changed over the years, as in other cities, but the Black population in the city has rarely declined and has often increased in number. Philadelphia was, as of 2020, the sixth-largest metropolis in the nation, and Blacks make up more than 40 percent of the population there, more than the percentage of any of the other top ten cities in the country.
Philadelphia has a vibrant and culturally rich history, offering enormous promise to its inhabitants since its beginnings. It was founded with the premise of religious freedom and steeped in the radical independence movement that created this country. The city was settled by Quakers, perhaps the religious group that, in popular opinion if not always in fact, has most vociferously been associated with opposition to slavery. The “peculiar institution” was, in fact, almost nonexistent there by the early years of the nineteenth century. Philadelphia was the center of the Underground Railroad, with such legendary conductors as William Still. As the closest major city situated above the Mason-Dixon line, symbolically separating the North from the South, many fugitives from enslavement passed through Philadelphia. Some moved on, but a large number stayed, as the city seemed like the promised land for many African Americans. This is the powerful narrative of the city’s history that still holds true for numerous people today when they think of Philadelphia.
There is also something unique about the Black experience in this city. Blacks have had a nominal freedom throughout most of their existence in Philadelphia, yet when we look under the surface, Philadelphia’s treatment of African Americans has hardly been benign. The city has held out promises, but unfortunately many of these promises were not kept. Philadelphia may be situated in the North, but as Sonia Sanchez so eloquently writes in her poem “elegy (For MOVE and Philadelphia),” in many ways “philadelphia / [is] a disguised southern city.” There were Quakers, many of whom were abolitionists and worked for the Underground Railroad, but there were many others of the faith who were slaveholders, including the colony’s founder, William Penn. And even if the city was replete with abolitionists, it did not ensure that they viewed African Americans as equals. Blacks were, in fact, disfranchised from the vote in 1838, never to regain it until the ratification of the Fifteenth Amendment in 1870. Although the city was the center of the antislavery movement, not all of its White residents opposed slavery, and even if they did, the Fugitive Slave Acts of 1793 and 1850 hampered efforts to keep Blacks out of bondage. Before and after the Civil War, as demonstrated throughout this text, the city experienced a series of violent racial conflicts and has continue to practice an ugly pattern of segregation in housing, transportation, education, and employment, severely limiting the prospects of improvement for its Black citizens. There is a long history of racial injustice practiced by Philadelphia’s police as well as Black residents being ignored, at best, by the city government.

what's philippines' relationship with faith?
Tumblr media
Yup, I have hwspirilovebot for seatalia but that's alright! I can answer asks here too
And this news right here sums up Filipino faith:
Tumblr media
Okay but jokes aside, Piri is definitely religious and superstitious. Spiritual? Hmmm. He will get there one day. Besides, how Piri's relationship with faith is viewed depends on his age. Here's an oversimplified timeline of what religions dominated the PH archipelago through the centuries:
Ancient: Animism
800s: Buddhism and Hinduism
1300s: Islam
1500s: Christianity
Modern: Buddhism, Taoism, and Hinduism from Chinese and Indian immigrants, Judaism from Jewish refugees, more Christian denominations, etc.
Some headcanon that Piri is a representation of a precolonial chiefdom, for example, if he was Sugbu (modern day Cebu), he would be practicing a combination of Animism, Hinduism, and Buddhism, before being baptised as a Roman Catholic in the 1500s. If he was Maynila, then it would be the aforementioned 3 with Islam (but he still ate pork in that era, lmao). Some also headcanon that Piri was born in 1521 when Magellan gifted Rajah Humabon with the Santo Niño upon the latter's baptism, and in that case, his relationship with faith will also be different (@sweaty-clouds can expound on this better than I do 🤧)
I view that Piri was born due to the intramarriages and intramigration within the archipelago that came to be known as the Philippines. I have no specific date yet, but it's sometime in the 1300s or earlier.
There are tons of belief systems in the country, different set of Deities and Anitos for every ethnolinguistic group and indigenous group. Some are remembered, many are forgotten. Not all are worshipped as the dominant religions are monotheistic.
The Philippines is a Roman Catholic-dominant (but under the constitution, the church and the state are separate, and you are free to practice your religion), and my Piri practiced it under Spanish colonization until today. Discrimination against indigenous people and Muslims are rampant, and Christian denominations fight each other on who worships God better and who goes to Heaven (spoilers: none of you)
Now, faith.
Faith in Tagalog has many words but the one I hear the most in churches is "sampalataya" which came from the Sanskrit word, sampratyaya (सम्प्रत्यय). We often use Diyos but when reading folklores, you will regularly come across the word Bathala which also came from Sanskrit: Batthara (भट्टार). Our fairies, Diwata, came from Sanskrit as well: Devata (देवता). Despite the dominance of Catholic faith, the Hindu-Buddhist roots are still present. Other precolonial anitist beliefs such as dancing the Obando Fertility Rites are also still practiced. We politely say excuse me (tabi-tabi po) when hiking in forests in the belief that it is the realm of spiritual entities or that the environment itself has spirits.
My version of Piri grew up practicing many belief systems, depending on which personification was his assigned guardian, but if you want to survive, you have to assimilate to the dominant culture. He was definitely a sacristan, until he became a revolutionary. He still prays, attends the mass, volunteers in the church, and participates in holy days and feasts for almost every saint today.
He doesn't sweep the floor at night as it sweeps away luck, and maybe it's just a coincidence that the Goddess Lakshmi will walk out of your house if you sweep your place after sunset. He wears an agimat or anting-anting (amulet) and despite having a medical degree, he still carries a lana (a concoction of oil and herbs to ward off evil entities). He can exorcise demons and drive away tiktik (that baby-eating monster targetting pregnant women) too. Perhaps he has an altar in his house that has both the crucifix and a Buddha statue. Oh, and he still gives babies that red and black beaded bracelet and the red pouch for protection. Pwera Usog or Pwera Buyag! (Fuera Curse, to repel a hex)
Piri's not agnostic, but he sure rolls his eyes during homilies when the priests shuns people who believes in precolonial or pagan beliefs, and he definitely cringes at fuccboys who have John 3:16 in their bio.
What else did I miss? Piri's Catholic guilt? The way my dad did the sign of the cross in front of a giant Buddha statue when we went to Thailand? or one of my friends visiting my other friend's condo and saying "Yup. This is bad Fung Shui", but there's a rosary on his doorknob so it balances out
There are tons of mythological creatures too, and the babaylan who was demonized and now referred to as a mangkukulam, but my brain is just not braining at the moment and I feel like I answered more about religion rather than faith but I still hope this still answers your question, anon.
TLDR: Folk Christianity, but this needs more thoughts from Filipinos of other religions

Six years before…
Alex Richards never had a care in the world.  She was good at what she did.  Never been caught, never been accused. She was going to keep it that way.   She skipped into the boss’s office, not having to wait for him to allow her to enter.  Once of the perks of being Christian Grey’s girl.  She waltzes in as he was on the phone and sat in his lap, her usual spot.
“I understand that Walker, but it needs to be handled. Just take care of it.  I have an important package to open.” Christian slammed the phone down and ran his hands over Alex’s legs.  “Hello pet.”
“Mr. Grey.”
Christian growled at her response.  “How many times do I have to say don’t call me that in the office?”
“Sorry baby.”  Alex planted a kiss behind his ear, knowing it would calm him.  He hummed his enjoyment.
“What do you want Alexandra?”
“I’m bored.  Thought you might need me.” She shrugged.
“I do need someone to pick up a necklace from a lax client.  Think you can handle it?”
“Sure.  Anything else?”
“Yeah, Walker is going with you.  He needs to speak to the client.”
Alex crinkled her nose.  “Walker really?  He’s so, I don’t know, rude.”
Christian sighed.  “Baby, just get the necklace.” He flashed her the picture of the diamond necklace. “It’s in a safe in the office.  John will be look out for you.”
She rolled her eyes.  “Fine.  But only because you asked nicely.”  She planted a searing kiss on him, leaving him breathless.  “We’ll finish that when I get back,” she whispered against his lips.  She got up.
He adjusted his pants.  “Looking forward to it, pet.  Be safe. And don’t…”
“Get caught. I know baby.  I got it.”  She winked and walked back to her separate office.  She closed the door and changed into her all-black suit, skin tight to allow her free range while she worked.  She put on her mask and flipped the googles to the top of her head, making it look like she had kitten ears.  She attached her tools to her waist as a knock on the door sounded.  “Come in!”
John Walker or the Hand as he was called within the mob walked in, smiling as if he was the boss.  “You ready, Kitty?”
“Don’t call me that.”  Alex’s code name was the Cat.  Fitting seeing as she was a cat burglar.  It really came from how her googles sat in her dark brown hair.  “Almost.  Just finishing up.”  She brushed out her hair to remove any loose hairs and then tied it back. Not getting caught meant taking every precaution to not leave evidence behind.
She grabbed her gloves and faced Walker again.  “What’s with the smile?”
“Nothing.  Just ready to be done tonight.  Have a date.”
“Poor girl.”
“Hey fuck you, Alex.”
“Christian already does that Walker, don’t be jealous.”  She started to walk to her bike.
“Nuh uh. We’re taking my car.”  He grabbed Alex and pushed her to his black Camero.
“So boring Walker.  At least Nate rides next to me.”
“And Nate is a kiss ass. He’s just trying to get in your pants.”  Walker smirked.  “If he flirted any harder, the Boss will eat him alive.”  He waved his hand.  “Tell the Snake to slither away.”
“He’s my best friend Walker so mind your manners.”
Walker shook her head.  “Whatever you say Kitty.”
Alex grounded her teeth.  Dealing with Walker always tested her limits but she would do anything for Christian.  They made it to a wealthy home outside of Pittsburgh.  Walker pulled to the back of the house to stay hidden of the main road.
“Ok, our client should be home in about 20 minutes.  That gives you 15.  What’s your plan Kitty?”
“The safe is where?”
“Office, second floor.”
“Well, I think I will just use the front.”
Walker gave her an exasperated look. “There are cameras on the front door.”
“I didn’t say I was using the door.”  She smirked, flipped her googles down and exited the car.  Walker followed to keep looked and watched as Alex shot a rope up to the roof, out of the eye of the camera.  She climbed swiftly to an open window on the third floor. She slid in, not moving a thing.  Walker was impressed with how quick and smooth she did that.  There was a reason she handled the tight spot robberies.
Alex walked smoothly through the home, not a sound made, her googles in night mode.  The house was quiet, unsettling her but she thrived on the tension. She thought back to her start. Christian only asked for her help so that they would do what’s right.  If her brother could help, so could she.  She found the office and started to work on cracking the safe.  It was pretty standard until she heard a door open and voices floating up to her.  She hid in the cupboard until the voices passed. She made it to the safe and got the necklace out, leaving the safe locked again as if she had never been there.  She made her way back out when she heard Walker’s voice.  “You shouldn’t have crossed Mr. Grey, Mr. Williams.”
Alex crept down to see Walker by the front door, holding a gun to his side as he spoke to Mr. Williams.
“I understand.  Please I don’t want to make a scene.  My son is just in the other room. I’ll pay anything.”
“You should have thought of that when making a deal with Mr. Grey.”  Alex watching in horror as Walker raised his weapon and shot Mr. Williams in his head.  She covered her mouth so she wouldn’t let out her scream.  The little boy yelled for his father as Walker simply wiped the blood of his face and walked back out.
Alex wasn’t going to get in the car with him.  She climbed down on the other side of the house and into the garage.  The man had a dirt bike, no plates; she hotwired it and took off.  She made it back to the warehouse before Walker and went to Christian.
Christian looked at her impassively and reached out, motioning for the necklace.  “Thank you pet.”
“Why have me steal it if you were going to murder him?”
Christian stopped and stood up in front of her. She tried to keep her stance as he stalked towards her. “Don’t ask questions Alexandra.” He grabbed her by her hair and held her in place. “I run my business as I see fit. If you don’t like it, go, leave.  See if you can survive on your own.”  He let her go, shaking her in the process.
Five years before…
It’s been a year since the incident with Christian and Walker.  Alexandra ended her relationship with Christian and he treated her like one of his lieutenants.  She did jobs, avoided Christian and John as much as possible.  She stayed close to Nate, code name the Snake.   He could blend in anywhere, slithering his way into places with just a smile.  They were on the roof, looking at the stars.
“You’re thinking of leaving, aren’t you?” he asked one day
You turned your head towards him. “How did you know?”
“The way you’re acting.  You’ve been giving equipment to some newbies, training that chick in your methods.  You’re leaving.”
“I have to.  I just can’t keep doing this when I know that Christian is murdering innocent people.  We had a code, you know.  No kids, no women, no innocents.”
“When are you planning to leave?”
“Dunno.  Pittsburgh has been great, but I need to get lost in another city.” She could feel her eyes stinging. “I don’t want to leave you.”
“Hey I understand.  You gotta take care of yourself and staying here with Grey and Walker isn’t taking care of yourself.”  Nate stoke her face.  “When?”
“Tonight.  After Chris and John go to sleep.  I parked my bike in the woods with a bag.”
“Do you need anything?”
“Nah.  Got a couple of grand in cash.  I’ll get a job, go straight.” She looked back up towards the sky.  “This will be good right?”
“The Boss will be pissed.  You keep your head down alright?”
“Thanks Nate.”
It was quick, the getaway.  She slipped from her room, leaving a note, promising to never talk about Christian or the mob ever.  Alex made her way to the only large city she knew she could get lost in.  It took a few hours but finally she saw the cityscape coming into view. New York.
Four and Half years before…
“Alex, these plates!”
“Got it Joe!”  Alex scurried to pick up the hot plates and make it to the tables.  Going straight was not easy.  But Alex was happy.  Happy that she was one her own, earning money, studying to pass her exam with Bishop Security.
It was early Saturday morning, the club rush finally gone, the early morning cops making their way in to the diner. The regulars greeted her while she served their coffees.  They were friendly, generous tippers, the rookies hoping to catch her eye.  She smiled but declined, not ready to be involved yet.  Until he came in.
James Barnes was a new detective to the 107th precinct. He had only been with them for a few months along with his best friend Steve Rogers.  He had heard that Joe’s had the best food and the best coffee in the neighborhood.  Having finally gotten an early shift, they made their way down to the dinner.
“Buck, all I’m saying is, you need to not be so intense sometimes.  The guys will warm up to you.”
“I just feel like the rookies disrespect me.”
“They don’t.  It’s in your head.  They can’t see the rod in your arm so why bring more attention to it.”
James hated to be reminded of the rod.  One accident, a stupid one at that, caused him to have the titanium rod and four screws into his left arm. Took a year away from the force and nine months of physical therapy but he made it.  He got to be a detective in the NYPD.  He rolled his shoulder. “Fine Steve, whatever you say.” They slid into a booth.
“Anything I can get you boys?” he heard as he looked up.  His jaw fell slightly as he took in the dark-haired beauty in front of him. “C-coffee please.”
“Coming right up.”  Alex never looked at the guys but could already tell they were from the precinct.  She grabbed a couple of mugs and poured the inky black drink.  She headed back.  “Here ya go,” as she set them down and was hit with the most gorgeous blue eyes she had ever seen.  “I, umm, sorry, did you want to order anything?”
The blond took her attention.  “Yeah, scrambled eggs, bacon, toast please.”
“Sure.  And for you?” She turned back to the brunette. He was gorgeous as sin, dark with just enough scruff that she knew it would feel good. His suit was tailored perfectly to his shoulders, dark blue with a crisp white shirt and black tie.
“Same as my partner,” he managed to answer while trying not to obviously check her out.
“Let me get your orders going.  Holler if you need anything.”  She tried to walk away calmly and not look back at the man.  Her partner this morning, Sandy, had no problems checking out the detectives.
“Ooo, new ones this morning,” she said as she flicked her eyes over them.  “Did ya get a name?”
“I got their order.  Didn’t get a name yet,” Alex said, trying to breathe again.
“Well, they are yummy, and the brunette hasn’t stopped staring at you.”
“Shut up Sandy, no he isn’t.”
“Well, you can take the brunette and I’ll take the yummy blonde.” She licked her lips.  “Go get more details.”  She pushed the coffee pot at Alex.
“Fine, fine.”  Alex walked back over.  “Refills?”
“Thanks,” the blonde said. “Alex, is it?” He read her name tag.
“Yeah, Alex or Alexandra, but I don’t go by that unless my momma is mad at me.” She smiled at her joke which got a chuckle from the pair.
Steve looked at James to try and get him to talk.  When James remained frozen, Steve subtly shook his head.  “I’m Steve and this is my partner and best friend James.”
“Nice to meet you both.  You work in the 107th?”
“Yeah, just transferred as detectives.  You work here long?”
“Just a few months, moved from Pittsburgh.”  Alex turned when she heard Joe yelling for her.  “Excuse me fellas.”  She left and Steve smacked James in the arm.
“What is wrong with you, Buck?  Beautiful girl making conversation and you’re just sitting here like an idiot.”
“Oh god,” James lowered his head onto the table.  “I just didn’t know what to say.  She’s gorgeous and…” he shut up as Alex came back with their plate.
“Here you go, eggs, bacon toast.  Let me know if you need anything.”  She turned to walk away when she felt a hand on your arm.  Alex turned to see James touching her.
“I’m sorry, I didn’t mean to be rude.  It’s just, you took my breath away.” He offered a crooked smile that made Alex weak in your knees.  “I’m James.”
“Alex.  It’s nice to meet you.”
“That’s a beautiful name for a beautiful girl.”  She flushed and smiled. “I wanted to ask and not be disrespectful, but could I have your number?  Maybe we could grab a coffee or a drink?”
Alex hesitated, her criminal instincts taking over for a second, but she shook it from herself.  “Sure.”  She took a receipt slip and wrote out her number, handing the slip to him.
“Thanks doll.” He folded it and slipped it into his pocket. “I’ll call when my shift is over.”
“No problem.”  She flashed him a smile.  “But don’t call me doll.” She walked away, stunning him.
He sat back down and looked at Steve who had his mouth wide open.  “What?”
“Where the hell did that come from?  I haven’t seen you like this since Dorothy.”
“Yeah well, I guess it takes the right girl to bring it outta me.”  James smiles and dug into his food. “Eat punk, before it gets cold.”
“Whatever jerk.”  Steve looked back at Alex and Sandy.  “Think you could help me with her friend?”
“Let me get though the first date man.  She may hate my ass.”
“Doubt it but sure whatever.”
As promised James called as soon as he was out.  Alex happened to be at home, curled up on her couch, drinking wine.  “Hello?”
Is this Alex?
“Who’s calling?”
It’s James, from the diner.
“Oh, hi.”
Hi, is this a bad time?
“No, no, just hanging on my couch. How was work?”
Not too bad, not as much crime as usual which was nice.
She could hear him smile through the phone.  “That’s good.”
Yeah.  He cleared his throat, so listen, a drink, tomorrow?
“Sure, I’d love to.”
McHenry’s at 8?
“Perfect. So, talk tomorrow?”
Well, maybe we could talk now?  Seeing how I just got home, and Steve is hogging the shower.
Alex giggled.   “Partners, best friends, Roommates.  Something you need to tell me, Detective?”
Only that his punk ass needs a girlfriend.  This got a laugh from Alex.
They spent an hour on the phone, just talking about whatever came up.  He was a local, growing up in Brooklyn with a sister. He and Steve had been best friends from elementary school.  Alex told him about growing up in San Diego and moving east for school.  She didn’t mention that she moved to New York to get away from her past.  Seemed like too heavy a topic for a first phone call.
The drinks the next night lasted until dawn the next morning.  When James finally walked Alex home, he asked for permission before kissing her sweetly. She leaned into it, his kiss nothing like Christian’s.
“Can I see you again?”
“Yes.  Tonight?”
“Absolutely doll.”
“Don’t call me doll.”
They were happy for a year and a half.  Until Christian Grey came knocking on her door and rocked her world on its axis.

Note
hii i've seen u in my notes and I want to be friends but I would like to know ur thoughts on lgbt+ first if u are comfortable with sharing
Hello, I don't mind sharing, but you might not like my views and that's perfectly fine. I'm being respectful with my words and honestly, you don't have too, because of the sensitivity of the topic.
I don't necessarily support the LGBT community. NOW, that doesn't mean I'm going to go around preaching saying "you're going to hell, REPENT!"., that just means our views are going to contradict, not me hating just because you aren't straight or cis. I have seen in real life and online those who like to make their sexuality or being trans, non binary the most prominent fact about them. Like I said, not going to hate. If you're a nice person, then I don't mind talking to you, but understand when it comes to these topics, your own being, we aren't going to see eye to eye and at least should converse like civil adults. (I had too many situations where I said the same thing and people threw a tantrum). For one, I'm a Christian, or at least trying to become one. Some of my views are based off the Bible and I'm trying to practice them, even if they seem stupid and out of date to the world. (I'm trying to force myself to read the Bible, but Christians don't joke that if the devil can feel change, he gets pissed and fucks with those who aren't in his grasp.) I have friends who are in the community (I know, that's a dumb excuse. That's like saying, "I'm not racist, I have black friends. 😏". Just because I associate myself with a specific person doesn't mean it my views can't affect them.) and I am respectful towards them despite my views. I told a mutual this: God is the epitome of love, but that doesn't mean He wants you to continue living the life you have. That's withholding your true potential for a life that won't even last for long. He's not going to force His way to you though, that goes against His nature of allowing free will and having a relationship with His creation, but actions/descions have their consequences and allowing free will brings that statement into work. I'm not going to condemn or shame anyone in the community because of this. Now to true Christians, that's me walking on eggs shells. That's me "confirming" to the world while trying to represent Christ. Basically, I'm lukewarm and it's a disgusting act towards God. I try to be nice to everyone and sometimes, that makes me a doormat: I say what people want to hear. Well actually, that just makes me a hypocrite. I was like that in the past because I wanted friends. I do my best to never do that again. I try to be blunt, gentle and stern with others because most can be worst. If others chose to respond in the opposite-well, nothing much I can do. I'm not going to grovel and change my beliefs for someone just like how others won't do the same to me, other Christians, and even God. If I choose to change, that's because I chose to and it's the same for everyone else as well; You indirectly helped. In the past, I use to support the community, then I slowly stopped. Did anyone force and belittled me(only ones who would do this are non supporters)? No, it came from personal reflection and was based off of what I read and experience. No one changed me, I chose to think differently and that means everything around me shift.
I also had another mutual come to me about the topic of LGBT because of a personal situation. As I told her, you can't change a person's sexuality. Like conversion therapy. That's you playing God in my opinion. Forcing someone to be something they are not will not only piss them off, it takes away the chance of them trying to love God. If anything, God will come to them. Whatever happens at that point is between Him and the individual.
There are some people who changed from LGBT+ to straight. I don't know anyone personally, but I have seen some state that as a testimony when they became Christian. Is it true, can your sexuality be changed by God? To be honest, probably, but I will personally never go through that journey. I'm straight. Sometimes women do look a little bit more... pretty in my eyes, but I try to stray away from those thoughts.(I fail at times because if you look through my blog, I go crazy over this OC a mutual has. That's only with that particular OC however.) When you see someone change like that, it's offensive and it's hurtful because you are changing who you are for a being most don't want to believe in. Like I tell some, you'll never know until you actually go through the experience, and to go through the experience, you actually have to have faith in God, read the Bible, and humble yourself to understand His perspective and why everything is the way it is.
Anyway, sorry for that. You asked for my views on the community and I'm here going into a different topic. Here's a summary: I may not support the LGBT+ community, but I'm not going to change you. That isn't my job. As a Christian, the job is to preach the Gospel so all that hear can gain a chance of salvation. If you hear and decide to ignore, well-that's you. I can't force you to actually listen. If you do become curious, know what all comes in the package of being Christian. Being lukewarm sucks because the further you go in, the harder it is to leave the lifestyle and it's you walking on extremely thin ice. (I did it again, going off topic, good Lord...)
As I said in another paragraph, I try to be blunt, gentle and stern. If my words offend you, then it does. I can't change how many will view me from this point forward.
I don't know who you are since you're on anon, but honestly if you want to block me or if any of the mutuals I have see this and decide "damn, Sakura actually kinda sucks. I should stop talking to her and block :/", I understand. I have in my bio that if you don't support my views, you are free to block.
Tumblr media
I had it happen before. I'm sensitive to these things, but that isn't your problem, it's mines. That's how it is. I don't expect others to coddle or pity me just because I seem nice in how I explain things. If I ever decide to take Christianity seriously, I'll lose all what I had. I had a vent post saying the same exact thing. However, as the the end goal for most Christians are, they just want to go home. Home as in with God, in a New Heaven and Earth, where everything is the way God designed. If that means losing everything, so be it. They're tired and honestly, I'm tired as well. I just want peace and I'm already in a conflicted state of it I'll ever get that peace.
Anyway, like I said, perfectly fine it you would like to block me. Thank you for the ask and I hope you have a blessed night/day.
