Thinking about how during the AIDs crisis, both bisexual men and women were demonized and villified under the wildly popular and incredibly fucking abhorrent idea that they were all AIDs carriers, spreading the disease wonton throughout different communities.

it makes me so fucking angry the way they were so horrifically stereotyped and how easily those stereotypes slip even further down the timeline into today.

I have read so fucking many accounts of bisexuals being harassed and verbally abused by literally *everyone else* around them during that crisis and our struggles and trauma are still under recognized and underrepresented.

the stereotypes of bisexuals being greedy sluts, promiscuous freaks who do nothing but suck cock and benefit from ‘straight privilege’ are direct consequences of those same ideas that sprung up during the AIDs crisis.

bisexual women were slut shamed and outcasted from the lesbian community for ‘spreading AIDs’ whilst being violently abused by the cishet community, and bisexual men were demonized for ‘spreading AIDs’ to cishet women, whilst being completely erased by gay men.

and what makes my blood fucking boil is the fact that these exact same stereotypes and beliefs about us still exist today bc no one gives a fucking damn about trying to offer us a crumb of support or understanding!!

we are still experiencing the same abuse we’ve experienced for decades and we are met with blank faces and low funding and disbelief, while both the queer and cishet communities erase our every contribution to greater queer progress as a whole.

I don’t think i’ll ever be able to stop mourning what bisexual erasure has taken from the bisexual community.
