I love the idea of Maggie being a rebel like her father as a teen and I love how Eddie knows all her tricks. How does Chrissy deal with her daughter’s schenanigans?
She worries about her all the time, she tries to be patient and give her the benefit of the doubt, but Maggie’s pretty wild and rebellious so it can be difficult sometimes. She always gives Eddie a tired sigh eye after a melodramatic tantrum.
“Why am I getting that look?”
“You had to be difficult for Wayne.”
“Hey! You knew the risks!!”
Snippet:
“Mom, I’m begging you please, please,” Maggie cries half prostrate over the counter, hands folded tight as she pleads. “Everyone else is going to be there and it’s one weekend!”
Chrissy sighs softly as she continues to scrub the dishes in more earnest, her legendary patience all but drained out. “Maggie, I’ve provided my reasons multiple times, the answer is no.”
“But whhhhyyyyy!?” she asks. “You would have let Liv go!”
“To a cabin five hours away when she was only fifteen-years-old? With several boys over eighteen and no adult chaperones for four whole days?” she asks in astonishment. “I most certainly would not have.”
Livvy would never have even had any interest in something like that in the first place.
“I’m almost sixteen, Mom! It’s not fair! The whole band is going and I’m going to get left behind!” Maggie exclaims, blinking back angry tears.
“Baby, I know this is important to you and I’m sorry I have to say no, but you’re just not old enough to go that far away by yourself for that long.”
“You never let me do anything!” she whines, slumping face down on the table, sobbing loudly and dramatically.
Chrissy takes a slow inhale through the nose.
Yoga breathing. Yoga breathing. Yoga breathing.
She empathizes. She really does.
If anyone understands what it’s like to be a teenage girl who’s not allowed to do anything, it’s her. But, they don’t know Derek or his family well enough to let their impulsive daughter spend three nights somewhere up in Alexandria Bay.
“That’s a tad of an exaggeration,” she replies wearily. “Don’t you think?”
She doesn’t respond, just pouts heavily with an angry little sniff, propping her chin on her flattened hands.
God, that face she’s making.
She’s so Eddie that it’s ridiculous sometimes.
Speak of the devil, he comes in from the garage after changing the oil to her Explorer, cleaning his hands off with a damp rag, whistling to himself before noticing the tension in the air.
“…Hey,” he greets cautiously, glancing between them, walking over to kiss Chrissy on the side of her head.
“Hi,” she exhales.
“Hi, Daddy.” Maggie mutters.
He eyes their youngest daughter’s petulant moping, looking back up at Chrissy questioningly. They’ve picked up something akin to a psychic connection over the years and he’s quick to catch on that they’re still on the ‘Maggie wanting to go away for the weekend upstate’ topic when she levels his gaze.
He nods in understanding, rubbing her shoulders from behind and Chrissy shrugs silently in response, not knowing what else to do at this point.
Help me out here, I’m going to snap!
“Okay, what’s wrong, Mags?” he asks all cool and casual, ruffling her loose curls as he walks past her toward the fridge to grab something to drink.
“Nothing, I’m just going to be stuck here while all my friends get to go away for the weekend because Mom doesn’t trust me.” She informs him miserably, rubbing vigorously at her face when a few fat tears that slip free.
“…Margaret, that’s not true.” Chrissy sighs, trying not to roll her eyes.
Mom doesn’t trust her?
Mom!?
Well what about her father who nearly blew a fuse when he heard that Derek kid offered for her to go in the first place? Mom had to spend nearly forty minutes talking Daddy down from breaking a seventeen-year-old boy’s nose.
Why is she the bad guy?
“I just don’t understand why Stacey and Megan’s parents are letting them go, but you won’t let me! They’re my age!”
“Why don’t you ask your father what he thinks?” Chrissy suggests, stifling her irritation. “I think I’ve gone over it enough.”
“What’s the point?” Maggie mumbles under her breath. “He’ll just think whatever you tell him to think.”
The silence that follows is earth shattering. The cup she’s holding slips from her hand, plopping back into the sudsy water clanking loudly against the bottom of the sink.

I know sometimes we like to use the turtles as an escape and so we dip into their world, but I like to have them dip into our world.
Let me know if anyone else has done this, so curious. But here's my
2020 QUARANTINE TURTLE HEADCANNONS
⚠️ TW for sensitive topics, death and protests from 2020
They didn't know if they were susceptible to the virus or not
They've caught colds before so it was possible
They upped their safety game a ton, especially with their old man around
Wearing gloves and masks they were all able to get vaccinated (and maybe swipe one for the old rat too)
They did reap the benefits of extreme masking
They went out more at least in cloaks and masks
They at least got to pretend to fit in, doing yoga in the park, outdoor painting classes in central park, birdwatching even and made some very good local friends
It was surreal to them to see the city streets so much quieter
So much emptier
Crime dropped, so the turtles too became more idle
Sometimes doing the same as the rest of us
doomscrolling on TikTok (esp Mikey)
learning to bake sourdough (Leo of course)
playing Animal Crossing (Raph surprisingly)
and buying NFTs (or moreso Donnie hacking and vandalizing them to get back at pretentious dudes trying to make a quick buck)
Mikey does own one NFT though
He refused to show anyone for months
Turned out it was an art piece he commissioned to look like an NFT of a rather comical and ugly characature of Leo
And this was their first time as teens coming to terms with such a reality
In the middle of that year, one event shook us all
George Floyd
Especially when all they had been taught was that cops were the good guys
The protests were surreal
Streets lined with standing or sitting, socially distancing, masked potestors
It was upsetting enough when they were loud, but heartbreaking when they were silent
Raphael especially was upset by what happened to George Floyd, he took it harder than most, his mind went to every person he knew in his big city that was just as innocent but just as easily victimized and the thought of this happening to any one of them scared him and angered him
He didn't know what to do but he had to do something
It was months of rage sparring with his brothers, escaping into Animal Crossing, and sobbing on rooftops with Splinter before he knew how to even start processing the tragedy
He ended up joining the protests, sitting with the people he shared so much grief and anger with, hoping to make a change
Leo became silent for a while, he needed time to process
He came to a conclusion, and at first, without the approval of Splinter he started patrols in the most heavy policed parts of the city, but looking for a whole new type of crime
It took a while to learn what he was looking for, and he was too late in some situations
This was the part where he sought Splinters wisdom
Splinter helped him to identify cops with the worst track records, and how to help those most in need, especially the kids
While a rather Raph move on his part, Leo's new version of vigilante-ism is fueled by having always thought he was similar to cops, fighting crime and leading by example
Leo is disgusted that they'd abuse their power for the cheapest power trips and with the cruelest consequences
Donnie, as part of his NFT hacking to gift money off assholes, used that money to donate to as many fundraisers as he could manage
Bail fundraisers for protesters
Medical fundraisers for every harmed in protests or additional incidents nationwide
He even managed to set up a foundation that automatically collected and donated accordingly, doubling the donated value through the same kind of investment and bank loopholes many mega corps utilize
It upsets Donnie, but he's been on the internet longest, the reality of racists and assholes was something he was keenly aware of
The only way he can sleep at night is knowing he's helped exceed multiple fundraisers because it's the only thing he feels he can do
Mikey appeared alright for a while, he tried to ignore it
But it ate away at him as his social media feed began turning to more and more discussions and awareness and responses and critical analysis
He couldn't escape it, at some point he broke
He stayed in bed for four days
He barely ate, barely drank, cried a lot
His brothers, with whatever energy they could muster tried to rally him or comfort him but nothing worked
Even Splinter struggled to get through
After four days Mikey got out of bed, but still mulled around for weeks in a daze
Eventually he ended up spending time with each of his brothers
handing out waters at protests and keeping innocent protestors out handcuffs when bad turned worse
Policing the police, watching out for kids after dark when policemen were in the area, letting the air out of tires and emptying cartridges
He edited social media videos and curated info accounts for fundraisers
All of this helped the brothers to keep moving forward, but the weight sat heavy in their hearts even as years passed and progress moved at a snails pace
It's 2024 and they still do what they can, and when tragedies happen they at least have each other to get through it
They look back painfully to the years they lived in rose colored glasses, sure they should have known, but they don't think it's an unreasonable dream to think that their city can fix what's broken and corrupt to achieve the idyllic world they used to believe in
Certainly this is a lesson they'll never forget and will continue to shape them
The new Foot Clan wears black boots and badges
Sorry for such a long post, but I think that it's important to address these things at least in my head cannons.
If you have nuance or constructive critiques I'd love to hear them. I'm not a POC but I was personally devastated by many many of the events of 2020.
As a queer person I have stood with and still stand with BLM and believe ACAB. I didn't live in NYC during that year but had friends who did and it broke the heart of the city.
If you hate that I've brought social issues into generally escapists TMNT spaces then you should probably block me or ignore any future head cannons with the appropriate trigger warnings on them.
Thank yall for your time. 💙💜🧡♥️

And then, it was go time. With the help of Sarah and his teens, Rayne created website and a social media account for his yoga studio and it didn't even take long before his first class was fully booked.
A little nervous at first, he started the class, repeating how he had done this with his family. And just the act of doing yoga himself, already calmed his nerves as soon as he started. It felt good to take these sims with him on a yoga journey, help them get better at the different poses and find the best yoga routines for their needs.
Soon, all his classes were booked weeks before and he got great online reviews, praising the calming environment and Rayne's patience and knowledge (and his good looks got many mentions too 😉)
Knowing this was something he was really good at and also benefited his family, Rayne found Inner Peace.

THIS is how im getting back on track
i got off track the last few weeks and i regained. the WORST punishment ever is no fitting into my fav jeans, that i bought already a tad too small, for motivation. just like half of my other bottoms, they'll fit but not as they used to, def not pretty. not getting to wear my usual clothes has rlly got me so insecure & miserable, i'm glad i'm the right headspace to fucking lose again.
ꕤ eat breakfast as normal, 5am, get my energy. do NOT eat it after 5am, that goes for weekends.
ꕤ don't snack at uni, that makes for a 8h fast. attack some gum, drink water.
ꕤ eat lunch at 1pm, have a small sweet, like 10g or less (i have a fav, its perfect).
ꕤ eat a fruit by 2pm, which is a time when i'm usually hungry for no reason but it's better to control it earlier than at night. NO carbs.
ꕤ fast till breakfast again, that should be agout a 15h fast. drink loads of water, DO WORK, practice yoga & pilates, take my vitamins, don't forget the iron specially around my period.
this is no 400cal a day diet ok, it's my way of remaining alive & actually healthy (acc to my doctors), maintaing a weight i already know i'm comfortable at, keeping up my energy and my youth bc honeslty i have too much shit to get done, i don't have time to be lethargic.
✩ keep out of the kitchen/living room at nighttime, since i know my tendencies to binge while watching something on tv. watch it in my bedroom.
✩ don't comment about food around my mom, don't give her any ideas of putting up an occasion in which my refusal to eat is a war declaration. for myself, avoid food content, baking videos, recepies, mealsp0, it makes me hungry.
✯¸.•´*¨`*•✿ ✿•*`¨*`•.¸✯
if i remember any others i'll update it bc it's more for me than for other ppl. and a reminder: if your're still a teen, if you're fucking 14 or smt, please understand your body is literally not developed and if you have any plans on being alive for the next decades you shouldn't stunt its growth by depleating it of nutrients. go. fucking. exercise. like crazy. it'll also help your growth, metabolism and overall health for years to come cz the benefits last a lifetime. so yeah dont be dumb.
thats it girlies, bybye

that’s basically it
BIOGRAPHY —
Andrea Eleanor Rhodes was born to Florence and Richard Rhodes in Greenwich, Connecticut. For the most part, her upbringing was complicated due to her overbearing, neurotic mother and often times workaholic father who expected Andie to live in their shadow and lead a life of wealth and privilege. Andie however, had always been a vivacious and capricious, free spirited woman born of the eighties. From the moment she was conceived, her parents had her future all mapped out and already made arrangements for coming out to society during her sixteenth birthday. Andie, of course had a mind of her own. Her rebellious nature and resentful attitude towards her structured and sheltered, silver spoon upbringing was blown to bits the moment Andie got arrested for a DUI and was subsequently kicked out of private school. Embarrassed, her parents sought to send her off to a correctional camp that was built for over-privileged kids who needed a good straightening up. What The Rhodes’ and Andie didn’t realize was, how bad this correctional camp actually was. Their cult-like practices were too much for Andie to handle or endure and so with the help of her roommate at the time, the two escaped after several months. There on, Andie lived a rather nomadic lifestyle from the time she was eighteen to now. She’s traveled the world, tried her hand at numerous gigs and jobs and never held any desire to remain in one place for too long. From waitressing to modeling to nannying to whatever she could get her hands on... she’s done it all. She only recently enrolled in fitness classes and got her certificate to teach Yoga at the Humming Bee in Providence Peak. Colorado was not her first choice destination to lay down roots but so far, it has become the place she’s felt the most at home. It’s wintery climate is a direct reflection of her seemingly ice cold heart. The locals aren’t so bad either. And it helps that no one with her last name or genes know where the hell to find her. In fact, she likes the anonymity and the fact that she can be anyone she wants to be without her family name or the privilege that comes with it, writing her story for her.

I work in a therapy program where at least half of the teens we see have some form of complex trauma. In adolescents and young adults, the presenting problems often include:
- existing diagnoses for what LOOKS LIKE (but is not always) ADHD and/or autism spectrum disorders. This especially includes problems with short-term memory, emotional regulation, rejection sensitivity, and poor impulse control; oppositionality or a previous diagnosis of ODD;
- anxiety (especially generalized anxiety with panic, or sometimes social anxiety); usually connected to avoidance, like poor school attendance, personal isolation, etc.
- depression or depressive symptoms like anhedonia (not enjoying enjoyable things). lack of motivation, exhaustion, hopelessness, and/or irritability;
- suicidal ideation, or a wish for the world to just stop or slow down;
- body image and/or eating disorders; self-harm behaviors; extreme risk-taking behaviors;
- poor sense of self — this can be not having a sort of central concept of a stable self, or drastically poor self-esteem; not believing one is a person who is worthy of love and care
- all this may or may not include the other symptoms we associate with “traditional” PTSD , like hypervigilance, hair-trigger temper, nightmares/flashbacks, etc.
- a person might meet some or all of the diagnostic criteria to “officially” have one of these diagnoses, but honestly, what’s really happened is that a chronic sense of chaos or imminent danger has left the brain in survival mode through multiple important developmental milestones.
(That’s why it is particularly difficult to diagnose in childhood/adolescence — if the developmental process that regulates your attention is busted due to trauma, in what way(s) is that different from “real” ADHD? And so on.)
Children with C-PTSD are at significant risk for borderline traits or for developing a borderline presentation or a personality disorder as they age, but it is NOT A GIVEN. There is some really cool work being done now on understanding how shoring up early damage can prevent continuing serious mental illness down the line. That said, it is NEVER too late to start. A borderline personality disorder diagnosis does not mean you are irretrievably broken.
There is also no given “safe” amount of trauma that we know an average person can withstand. The definition of trauma that people who work with C-PTSD use is “something emotionally overwhelming for which you have no context or control.”
Infants can be traumatized when they are removed from their parents, but it’s not a given. Children can be traumatized by growing up in a chaotic home life, but it’s not a given. One person is not “tougher” than another. It’s the amount of control and context the person can access at the time the thing happens, and then what is done to complete the stress cycle after the distressing event.
And if you’re thinking “that’s stupid, practically everybody would have C-PTSD with these criteria” — YEAH, bro. Probably says something about how screwed up stuff is lately.
The best treatments we have are DBT and DBT-based group therapy; regular movement and sensory-based interventions (especially going outside and being in natural spaces); mindfulness, meditation, and/or yoga; somatic and play therapies, especially for children; regular food and sleep (I say, ironically typing this at 2am); reliable, consistent structure; humor and storytelling in a safe context; music, art, acting, dance, and writing/speaking your truth. Not all of these work for everyone. But something probably will.
Medication works to manage symptoms for many people. People who have specific, concrete trauma(s) piled up can benefit from therapies like EMDR and neurofeedback.
If you have C-PTSD, you likely missed developmental milestones, as @ramshacklefey said above. I’m really sorry. You did not deserve any of this. And you can learn to manage it. Really.
Folks have got to understand that they probably aren't messed up by some Secret Big Trauma that they just can't remember; but rather by a million tiny microtraumas that they do mostly remember but don't even register as traumatic because nobody actually understood that these things would cause trauma, much less stack on each other over the years.

Control Phase: Weight stabilization.
Maintenance Phase: Gradual return to a balanced diet.

Post-Diet Maintenance:
Gradually reintroduce foods, maintain healthy eating habits, and stay active to keep the weight off.
Alternatives:
Consider balanced diets like the Mediterranean or flexitarian diets, which offer varied, sustainable options. 🌿

Teen Mental Health Matters: Nexus Teen Academy's Approach
In today's fast-paced world, where societal pressures, academic demands, and social media influence are at an all-time high, the mental health of teenagers has become a critical concern. Adolescence marks a period of profound physical, emotional, and psychological changes, making teenagers particularly vulnerable to mental health challenges. Recognizing the significance of addressing these issues early on, organizations like Nexus Teen Academy have emerged with innovative approaches to support the mental well-being of teens.
This blog delves into the intricacies of teen mental health, the challenges they face, and how Nexus Teen Academy's approach is making a tangible difference in the lives of young individuals.
Understanding Teen Mental Health
Adolescence is a pivotal stage of development characterized by identity formation, emotional volatility, and increased autonomy. It's a time when teenagers navigate complex social dynamics, peer pressure, academic stress, and hormonal fluctuations—all of which can significantly impact their mental health.
According to the World Health Organization (WHO), mental health conditions such as depression, anxiety, and substance abuse are prevalent among adolescents worldwide. Alarmingly, untreated mental health issues during adolescence can persist into adulthood, leading to long-term consequences in terms of academic performance, relationships, and overall well-being.
The Nexus Teen Academy Difference
Tumblr media
Nexus Teen Academy stands out as a beacon of hope for teenagers grappling with mental health challenges. Unlike traditional educational institutions that may overlook the emotional needs of students, Nexus Teen Academy adopts a holistic approach that prioritizes mental health and emotional well-being alongside academic success.
1. Holistic Support System
At Nexus Teen Academy, mental health is not an afterthought but an integral part of the curriculum. The academy employs a team of dedicated counselors, psychologists, and mental health professionals who work in tandem with educators to provide comprehensive support to students. Whether it's through individual counseling sessions, group therapy, or mindfulness workshops, students have access to a range of resources tailored to their unique needs.
2. Emphasis on Emotional Intelligence
In addition to academic excellence, Nexus Teen Academy places a strong emphasis on cultivating emotional intelligence among its students. Through interactive workshops and experiential learning activities, teenagers learn valuable skills such as self-awareness, empathy, and stress management. By equipping students with these tools, the academy empowers them to navigate life's challenges with resilience and confidence.
3. Creating a Safe and Inclusive Environment
Creating a safe and inclusive environment is paramount to promoting positive mental health outcomes among teenagers. Nexus Teen Academy fosters a culture of acceptance and belonging where students feel valued, heard, and supported. By celebrating diversity and encouraging open dialogue, the academy cultivates a sense of community that helps alleviate feelings of isolation and loneliness.
4. Peer Support Networks
Teenagers often turn to their peers for support and validation. Recognizing the influential role of peer relationships, Nexus Teen Academy facilitates peer support networks where students can connect with others who may be facing similar struggles. These peer-led initiatives provide a platform for teenagers to share their experiences, seek advice, and offer solidarity, thereby reducing stigma surrounding mental health issues.
5. Integrating Mindfulness and Well-being Practices
Mindfulness and well-being practices have gained traction in recent years for their therapeutic benefits in managing stress and anxiety. Nexus Teen Academy integrates mindfulness into its curriculum through meditation sessions, yoga classes, and relaxation techniques. By promoting self-care and self-reflection, students learn to cultivate a sense of inner peace and balance amidst life's pressures.
Impact and Success Stories
The impact of Nexus Teen Academy's approach extends beyond statistics and academic achievements. Countless success stories bear testament to the transformative power of prioritizing teen mental health. From students overcoming debilitating anxiety to forging meaningful connections with their peers, the academy's holistic approach has helped unlock the potential of young individuals and set them on a path to success.
Conclusion: Investing in Teen Mental Health
As society grapples with the complexities of adolescent mental health, organizations like Nexus Teen Academy offer a glimmer of hope. By recognizing the interconnectedness of academic success and emotional well-being, these institutions are reshaping the narrative surrounding teen mental health and paving the way for a brighter future.
Investing in teen mental health isn't just about addressing immediate concerns—it's about laying the foundation for resilient, empowered adults who can navigate life's challenges with grace and determination. Through collaborative efforts and unwavering commitment, we can ensure that every teenager has the opportunity to thrive, both inside and outside the classroom.
In conclusion, teen mental health matters, and Nexus Teen Academy Residential Treatment's holistic approach serves as a beacon of hope in a world where the well-being of our youth should be our top priority.

The Best Workout Plans for Teenagers: Building Healthy Habits for Life with Personal Training in Palm Harbor
In today's fast-paced world, where screens dominate and sedentary lifestyles prevail, teenagers often find it challenging to prioritize physical fitness. However, establishing a solid workout routine during these formative years can lay the foundation for a healthy and active lifestyle in the future. Whether it's to boost energy levels, manage stress, or simply feel better overall, incorporating the right workout plan can significantly benefit teenagers. Here's a comprehensive guide to some of the best workout plans tailored specifically for adolescents:
1. Strength Training:
Strength training is crucial for teenagers as it helps build muscle, strengthens bones, and improves overall physical performance. Bodyweight exercises like push-ups, squats, lunges, and planks are excellent starting points. Gradually introducing weights under proper supervision can also be beneficial.
2. Cardiovascular Exercise:
Cardio workouts enhance heart health and endurance. Activities such as running, cycling, swimming, dancing, or playing sports like basketball or soccer are fantastic choices. Aim for at least 60 minutes of moderate to vigorous activity most days of the week.
3. Flexibility and Stretching:
Stretching exercises are often overlooked but are crucial for maintaining flexibility and preventing injuries. Incorporating yoga or dedicated stretching routines into the workout plan can improve flexibility and relieve muscle tension.
4. High-Intensity Interval Training (HIIT):
HIIT workouts involve short bursts of intense activity followed by brief rest periods. They are time-efficient and incredibly effective in burning calories, improving cardiovascular health, and boosting metabolism.
5. Balance and Coordination Exercises:
Teenagers can benefit from activities that enhance balance and coordination, such as yoga, Pilates, or exercises involving balance boards or stability balls. These exercises improve posture and reduce the risk of injury.
Tips for Creating a Successful Workout Plan:
Variety is Key: Encourage teens to try different types of exercises to keep the routine enjoyable and prevent boredom.
Set Realistic Goals: Help them establish achievable short-term and long-term fitness goals to stay motivated.
Ensure Proper Form: Emphasize the importance of proper form and technique to prevent injuries.
Rest and Recovery: Stress the significance of rest days in allowing the body to recover and grow stronger.
Nutrition and Hydration: Remind teens that exercise goes hand in hand with proper nutrition and hydration for optimal results.
Importance of Supervision and Safety:
It's vital for teenagers to exercise safely, especially when starting a new workout routine. They should be supervised by a knowledgeable adult or a certified fitness professional, especially when using gym equipment or performing complex exercises.
Conclusion:
Encouraging teenagers to adopt a consistent workout routine can have far-reaching benefits beyond physical fitness. It instills discipline, boosts confidence, and promotes overall well-being. The key lies in finding activities they enjoy and making fitness an integral part of their daily lives. By embracing a balanced and varied workout plan, teenagers can set themselves on a path to lifelong health and wellness.
