“This series is so stinking cute I can’t stand it! Life seems to be handing me my ass right now, so this is such a nice little deviation.

I love that you are consistently weaving the theme of invested parents/close nit family through this. It is clear that the closeness comes from instilled values from Violet and Edmund, and those same values are being passed along through their children. It is so heartwarming. 

 You did such a wonderful job of filling the house with the essence of the Bridgerton family. The laughter and joy being constant just makes sense. But my favorite part was how you included the grace from the ranking ladies and the steady command from Anthony and Simon. Every joint supplying need. That’s what keeps this family together. Everyone works together and leads where they are able. So beautiful. And I really liked the way you described Simon and Anthony as having their own gravity. It’s so true. It is an unspoken thing but it is undeniable. 

Benedict Bridgerton is such a gift. You capture him so well, too. I see him perfectly. When she describes being hit with the brunt of his cheeky demeanor and his lopsided grin, my stomach tightens. He is so easy to fall in love with. You absolutely nail his childlike qualities. I adored the comment you made about the expression on his face when he thinks he has been caught by someone other than the reader. It was like I went back in time 20 years and was staring down at a child sized Benedict. I imagine he was hard to discipline because of those expressive eyes and angelic face. He was probably the kid that you had to withhold your laughter when he was supposed to be in trouble.

You literally had be giggling in my office at work with their little prank on Anthony. He is such an easy target haha! I loved the use of the pall mall balls. And Benedict being the orchestrator of all this chaos is freaking hilarious. He’s so charming. You just know he is the favorite uncle. He would do well with boys and girls. I think I just really enjoy getting to see him go back to a simpler joy. He gets transported to happy memories when he is with those children and it makes my heart grow 10 sizes to know that when he goes to those places, he wants to take Anthony with him.

I was cracking up at Anthony’s fall. You know he had to shake off that hurt pride for a second, but he handled himself well. He needs extra reminding sometimes of what it was like to not have the weight of the world on his shoulders. Watching him be a father is a gorgeous thing. He does carry that “scary” authority, but he is kind at his core. His duty as a Viscount, but more importantly, a father, isn’t something he wants to shirk off onto the help. He wants to discipline his children. And I like to think that part of that is because he always wants to be the one to provide comfort after the scolding has been had. He’s such a good man and you always find these subtle ways to remind your readers of that. 

“ You felt yourself blush, strangely overheated under his gaze. It was clear that remaining professionally courteous and distant from one another was not a consideration of his. Some part of you enjoyed it, something dormant that had begun stirring. “ - Oh boy lol.... She is in trouble. I know I would be. Like I said before, he is so damn easy to fall in love with. Especially because she is watching him conduct himself with children. It’s obvious he would make a remarkable father. But he would also be able to make his wife laugh for the rest of their lives. He just has so much life in him, and that’s hard not to want to latch on to. 

I am really enjoying this Eleanor. Something about the way you have written it makes me feel a little less lonely. Like I’m one of the family lol ❤

The following days with your charges passed quickly. There would have been enough to do with four stationary children, but with a baby on your arm and three boys with boundless energy and an unmatched capacity for chatter, it was nearly overwhelming. It might have been impossible if they were not all well behaved. The Duchess and Viscountess were with you on and off throughout each day and doted endlessly on their children. The Dowager Viscountess also adored helping you entertain her grandchildren, and was the one best acquainted with every toy and secret tucked within the expansive nursery. It quickly became clear that the love and happiness you witnessed within the Viscount’s immediate family were emotions shared by all of his relatives. It was exceptionally rare to find so much joy in a single household, and you thanked the stars that you had found employment in this one. 

The noise and bustle of people through the halls was nonstop. In addition to the children, there were always siblings laughing or playfully rowing with one another, the flowing grace of the ranking ladies dictating tasks to the army of staff, and the steady command of the Viscount and Duke as they carried their own gravity through the house and the grounds. You couldn’t help yourself from admiring them all, each beautiful Bridgerton and in-law with their quirks and quips. Eloise and Hyacinth were particularly theatrical, with Benedict and Colin often serving as referees or secret instigators, and you sometimes had to hide your laughter when you caught them bantering with each other. Each time he saw you, Benedict flashed that lopsided grin. It made you feel seen, it made you feel welcome, and it knotted your stomach in a way you chose to ignore. He was cheeky, but you appreciated his warmth.

You bore the brunt of his cheekiness one afternoon when he, Colin and Gregory took their nephews outside for the day. You were grateful for the reprieve and spent the time quietly with Caroline. After the Duchess insisted on supervising her nap, you decided some fresh air would be good for you as well. Making your way outside, you turned into a particular corridor and an odd sight met your eyes. It was a ball, lavender and small enough to be held in the hand, rolling slowly down the hall at an angle toward a door - the Viscount’s study door. You paused and watched with curiosity as it tapped the bottom of the wood and came to rest.

A muffled “Hello?” sounded from inside the study.

It was only when you heard a collection of hisses and giggles from the far end of the hall that you looked up to see the profiles of four faces, one at a significant height over three much smaller, peering around the corner. Benedict and the boys. The ploy became clear when Benedict crouched down next to Augie and whispered to him. The uncle was clearly the one providing direction in this game of hallway bowling, as he pointed out the appropriate angle and then watched Augie launch his own green ball toward the door.

This one hit with a much more significant thud. 

“Helloooo?” The Viscount called even louder from within his study, triggering an eruption of restrained laughter from the far end of the hall. It was then that Benedict looked up and saw you, and immediately brought a finger to his lips, begging for your silence. You were caught in the middle. You supposed you could have turned away and let everything play out without your involvement, but that felt cowardly somehow. It was your job to watch the children. You certainly weren’t going to cut into the Viscount’s study and disrupt him, nor tattle on his brother or the children. Perhaps the only thing you could do was quietly pick your way down the hall, hoping the Viscount didn’t emerge, and convince them all to stop their ruse. But before you could take a step, Benedict had angled Neddy’s shoulders in just the right way and his black ball went whizzing across the tile and slammed into the door.

Then everything seemed to happen at once. No sooner had the third ball hit the door then it swung inward and the Viscount stepped out, his face locked in agitation as he began to scan the hall. But his booted foot landed directly upon the wooden toys gathered there and he slipped, propelling his arms as he fell backward dramatically onto the threshold. 

Your surprised cry was likely the only reason he did not hear the burst of riotous laughter from the far corner. Instinct drove you to the doorway as you watched Benedict and the children duck out of sight. The Viscount was sitting himself up, grimacing and nearly steaming from the ears. You knelt beside him.

“My lord, are you alright?”

“Yes,” he angrily waved you away and clambered to his feet. “What on earth…?” When his eyes fell to the colored balls dotting the hallway floor, they filled with a sort of aggravated recognition. “The children,” he huffed, nostrils flaring.

You wouldn’t be lying if you didn’t provide further clarification. You were loyal to your employer, but not a snitch. The same skills you used to calm the nerves of frazzled children were often useful on their parents as well. “These things are bound to happen with so many little ones in the house, my lord.” You offered him a gentle smile, trying to convey sympathy rather than amusement.

His jaw clenched, but the fire faded out of his posture as he nodded. “You are right.”

“I imagine you and your siblings were much the same, growing up here.”

At this he smiled, his features brightening into an entirely different man. This was the Viscount as you saw him with his son, the one full of love, hidden though he may have been at times. “Indeed we were,” there was a hint of a chuckle to his tone, and he seemed to grow misty, lost in his memories.

“I will be sure to reprimand them…”

“No,” He cut you off quietly, shaking his head. “You don’t need to scold them. The parents will see to their discipline.” 

Something in the way he said it, with a sense of intent rather than wrath, touched your heart. He wanted to be involved in his child’s life, much more so than any other parent you had worked for, and it was endearing. He looked at you with good humor in his warm brown eyes.

“But if you could keep them from scheming again, if you catch it in time…”

You smiled widely. “Understood, my lord.”

He returned your smile, and then with a curtsy, you backed out of the room and closed the door behind you. All you could think as you marched purposefully toward the far end of the hall was how lucky Benedict and the children were to have such a merciful head of family. Many other boys - or brothers - would have been made to pay for creating such a spectacle. When you turned the corner you found the culprits huddled together, Benedict trying to shush the three boys who were cackling with glee as they recounted the Viscount’s extraordinary fall. He turned in alarm as you approached, eyes wide with anticipatory guilt, a look you were certain he must have worn frequently as a child himself.

When he saw it was just you, he exhaled in disbelief. “You didn’t turn us in.”

The boyish lilt of gratitude in his voice and the relief in his eyes softened something inside you, but you pursed your lips, intent to make your disapproval clear.

“I should have. I don’t appreciate you teaching poor behavior to my charges.”

The easy smile and devil-may-care attitude settled upon him again. “It was a harmless prank.”

You crossed your arms. “I’m not sure if the Viscount would call it harmless.” You couldn’t imagine how he had been managing his seven younger siblings, and for so long. He would have been well within his rights to hire two nurses, one for his children and one for them.

“Oh, ignore him.” Benedict scoffed, then stepped closer. “I saw you laughing when he fell. You can’t deny it.” Then his voice dropped lower. “There is clearly some degree of mischief in you, Miss y/l/n, to grant us your discretion.”

You felt yourself blush, strangely overheated under his gaze. It was clear that remaining professionally courteous and distant from one another was not a consideration of his. Some part of you enjoyed it, something dormant that had begun stirring.

“And to keep up with these three, right boys?” He crowed louder again, walking over to the children and tousling their hair.

You blinked, reminding yourself that you were here to voice your disapproval. “Well yes, I suppose I must use it to know what you are all getting up to, you silly little things.” You smiled and crouched down, commanding an audience from the three little faces. You spoke firmly, adopting that precise tone to let them know you were not angry, but needed to be heard. “Now remember, whatever your uncles tell you, at the end of the day you must answer to your fathers, yes?” 

Three dark little heads nodded in unison.

“And you don’t want them too cross with you, do you?” The heads shook emphatically. “Alright, so if you are ever reprimanded, just tell the truth that your uncle told you to do it.” As you said it, you shot your eyes up at Benedict and smirked.

He gaped, aghast at your treachery. 

Then you stood, herding the brood together and ushering them back down the hall. Benedict stayed where he was and you turned, trying your best to sound supercilious. “You have my discretion Mr. Bridgerton, but I am not going to teach these children to lie.”

At this his gape transformed into that exaggerated pout, and you knew your wit had struck its target. With a smile, you turned back and kept walking.

As a parting volley he let out an exaggerated sigh. “And we were just about to get the glue.”

The withering stare you threw over your shoulder caused him to burst into laughter.

I made a fanfic during thanksgiving while I was stuck alone in my dorm room. It's definitely not based on the fact that I watched teen wolf while looking at Bridgerton thirst edits...

Summary:

Benedict, a nobleman cursed to transform into a beast every full moon, has spent years searching for a cure. The only person who knows his secret is his brother, Anthony. Together, they come across the name of a mysterious witch who may hold the key to breaking the curse— there’s just one problem: she was executed 500 years ago. Desperate for answers, he scours the town, hoping to find someone who might know of her, but every lead turns cold. In need of clarity, he takes a ride through the woods to clear his mind, only to stumble upon an isolated cottage. There lives a secluded woman, her trusted stallion at her side. Wondering if she is hiding something about the witch, he seeks her out, but quickly finds she's tight-lipped, not willing to offer any answers.

He senses she is hiding something, and his determination leads him to press her for information. Despite his persistence, the woman remains silent, sending him away with little more than a warning. But Benedict, ever the stoic and proud man, finds himself in a dangerous situation soon after; In a twist of fate, the woman steps in to save him, revealing that there’s far more to her than meets the eye.

Alright, everyone. I just started season 3 of Bridgertone (NO SPOILERS PLEASE), and I got to tell all of you.

The bridgertons are clearly something else entirely in their society.

The bridgerton men are clearly wh0r3s until their future wife comes a calling and the bridgerton women are clearly a different breed.

They seriously go against the rules of their society, which made me wonder if their ancestors were like this.

Imagine a young Edmund Bridgerton just going against the rules to be with Violet. Moving heaven and earth to be with her.

Now I'm pretty sure if Queen Charlotte ever met the bridgerton couples children. She would be fearing for her life and her image and definitely getting a headache because YOU CAN NOT TELL ME THESE NEXT GENERATION BRIDGERTON CHILDREN OF POLIN, KANTHONY, DAPHNE AND SIMON, ELOISE AND PHILLIP, BENEDICT AND SOFIE, AND FRANCESCA AND MICHAELS KIDS WONT BE CAUSING PROBLEMS FOR THEMSELVES AND SOCIETY FOR THEIR FUTURE SOULMATE....including the royal family

Sliver of Light

Summary - Sharing your feelings with someone else would be daunting, but not with your soulmate

Warnings - Angst and fluff mixed together.

Emotions are such a funny thing, especially when your emotions are linked to your soulmate.

It was something your mother and father warned you about: two Soulmates knowing and feeling the emotions of one another.  It was a fascinating trait, seen as a valuable trait when it came to couples and families.  Your parents were great examples of it, picking up each other’s signals throughout the day when one was in distress or angry.  You found it to be wonderful that your parents relied on one another in more ways than one, using more than one way of communication.

You found yourself doing the very same thing with your now husband, Benedict Bridgerton.

Of course, you were taught about it in your younger years by not just your mother but also by your Aunt.  Only your mother and Aunt had soulmates, which were very rare to come by and seen as a sign of good luck and grace amongst society and prosperous families.  To have family members who were soulmates meant you were very blessed and highly favorable, especially with the Queen herself.  Your family already was well-known thanks to your parent's soulmate match and the family's massive deeds in charities and benefit balls.  But now that you were married to another well-known family that had a handful of soulmates within the family tree, your status skyrocketed.

Not that you cared, you only cared about your husband and your marriage to him.

Benedict, like his siblings, seemed to have a massive heart and thirst for mischief and amusement.  Being the artist of a massive family, not to mention more aloof than his brother, you were surprised to be soulmates with him.  Compared to Benedict, you were quieter and meek so to speak, not one to raise your voice or make your presence known in the room.

He never minded that one bit when you two were introduced back in Art School.  You were one of the few females allowed in the classroom, mostly because of your family name and the amount of money your father donated to the school to keep running.  Yet you were still a bright student, not wishing to coast by and get what you wanted because of who your family was.  The classes were tough and brutal, and your skill was placed to the test at every session and seminar.  Benedict saw that about you, reaching out to shake your hand in his after the first day of class, wishing to introduce himself to you.  

Once you two shook hands, you were soulmates.

Having a link to Benedict’s emotions almost seemed like a breath of fresh air, opening a window that brought in the fresh air from outside after being cooped up for too long. It felt that way, being a lady who was meant to wear many hats and not be raw and entirely yourself.  Feeling Benedict’s joys, pure happiness, frustrations, and anger, you were spellbound.  

It was the same with him feeling your feelings, you seeing him watch you for a pinch longer when you two were courting together very early on, right after you realized you were soulmates.  You were still supposed to court one another, just like any other relationship, yet there were still a few steps that needed to be taken.  Registering as a soulmate couple when married, taking a few classes in Soulmate Eddiquet,  Not that you two were worried about those extra steps and hoops you had to jump through.  

Seeing Benedict watch you, for the first time as you two were sitting across from one another enjoying a quiet moment with tea, made your heart flutter.  He was already handsome to you, bright eyes with dark brown hair, features of youth yet it was laced with wisdom, dressed in shades of blue, you shifted a bit nervously in your seat.

“Is there something on my dress?” You asked sheepishly, looking down at the dress that you were wearing.  Benedict only laughed, your eyes shooting up at him as he faced you in his chair.  His smile entranced you, and the sound of his laughter sounded like bells that seemed to be from a dream.  He shook his head and folded his hands in his lap.

“Your thoughts,” he replied, your eyes going a bit wide as he went on, “I think your thoughts are very lovely, profoundly lovely,”

Perhaps being soulmates with a Bridgerton would not be so bad.

Your first year of marriage was hard work, but it was wonderful as well.  Both you and Benedict fell in love with each other over time, before and after you said your vows.  Enjoying time together throughout the day, going to balls and events linked in arms and amusement on both your lips, it seemed so natural to have this life shared with another.  Even with the small spats and arguments, you both knew when to bring the other out of the darkness.

You remembered times when he was frustrated, whether it was with his art and starting a career as well known artist or with the constant drama in his family.  You knew that he was never one to feel negative sensations, it was not like him at all.  Easing him out of those moments included cups of tea, long walks in the countryside outside your apartment home, and simply holding his hand.  You felt those thoughts scatter away like slips of flower petals in the wind, and the smile was back on his face within moments.

With you, you had a harsher time when it came to continuing your feelings.  Your grandmother sadly passed one summer evening, suddenly and in her sleep.  It pained you since you were close to her growing up and leaned on her for wisdom and love.  That feeling of pain was engulfing you for days after her burial, thinking it would take some time to feel happy and cheerful.

No doubt Benedict felt it, and he immediately came to your aid.  He took a step back from working on his pieces and attending family events to be at your side, reading next to you in your personal study when he sensed you felt alone.  He would ever prepare your tea just the way you liked it, not too hot with the perfect flavor, with fresh flowers in your vase in your study when you were working on letters.

But most of all, he held you.

He was an affectionate lover and relied upon physical touch more than you ever would, and his hugs brought you peace.  In the morning when you had fresh tears, in the garden when you were lost in your mind, after dinner when he could tell you were tired and weary. 

“I’ve got you right here, my darling,” he cooed in your ear one evening when you were crying in his hold, both of you in bed as the rain pounded on the window.  His fingers were running in your hair and his chin was on top of your head, you heard his heartbeat against your ear as you wiped the tears away softly, “Loss is hard to live through, I felt it when I lost my father.  But you’re not alone, I won’t let you be alone.  Not ever, my love,”

Since then he never once made you feel less then.  Things were getting brighter for you both in the following months.  It seemed even in those dark days you were finding a small sliver of light, thanks to your soulmate and the true love of your life.  

And having two children within a few years, a boy named Edward and a girl named Adeline, you grew that light would only shine brighter.

Benedict, grief, and bees (Benophie wish list s4)

I have a question for pre-show Bridgerton fans: were the bees that important back then? I mean, apart from the obvious relation to Edmund in TSPWL.

It's very intriguing how the show uses the bee. It is part of the brand, used in hashtags and promo material, yet it is the cause of Edmund's death. The show even made it into the symbol of the family, which I can't remember if it was specified in Julia Quinn's books. Bees are often seen in important moments like the epilogues as visual representations of Edmund's soul/essence looking over his family. I know some people find it weird and even sinister, mainly because Anthony is traumatized to the point he had a panic attack when he saw one on Kate. Is it a bit macabre? To use the cause of death of the patriarch of the family as a cute symbol? Maybe.

But it is what it is and it works for Benedict so it's fine by me. Much like the show's production, it's clear he feels Edmund's presence in the bees. This is amazing character-building! I mean, it's just my speculation, but I'll be damned if they don't make this evident in s4 and connect it to the book.

What does this have to do with the book?

In AOFAG, Benedict has a rock collection.

Benedict doesn't go into much detail since he is dealing with a nasty flu and it's the middle of the night and there's a thunderstorm. He only tells Sophie that he got one of them the day his father died. Sophie then speculates that each rock represents a special memory for him. Now, "special" may be a too positive word, but they certainly represent significant moments in his life.

I'm fascinated by this because it shows Benedict's emotional intelligence. He recognizes the significance of the good and bad moments that shaped his life. He doesn't avoid the bad memories but combines them with those that make him happy. He would have loved Inside out. Yes, the day his father died might be his most tragic day, but it happened and he accepted it. Guys, he was only 16 years old when he collected that rock!!!! And it wasn't the first.

(This also makes him such a complex character cause as much as hr accepts the tragic moments of his life, he also avoids conflict.)

I wonder, where did he get the idea? Did other kids at Eton talk about collections and he made his own? Maybe he didn't know where to start and decided on collecting memories? Was it Edmund's idea? His grandmother's (in First Comes the Scandal it is revealed she also had a passion for art as she did embroidery)? Did he make it to have something for himself? I already talked about how it must have been difficult to grow up with Anthony. Why did he pick the first rock? Did he pick a rock when he got into the Academy? Another when he left?

Moreover, Benedict has a particular sensitivity that the rest of the characters lack.

He only felt the tingling:

Other shows and movies have this one character who gets a shiver or a tingling, a form of alert that tells them something just happened to highlight a special connection. Lady Mary felt it when Matthew got injured in the war and Beth Dutton felt it when her father died. Surely you can think of other examples, maybe you've felt it too. I know a friend got a call from her mom when she was about to get a tattoo 😂. Actually, I find it refreshing that in Benedict's case, it also announces good things (Sophie 🤗). Benedict doesn't like to call it a "sixth sense" but it kind of is.

And in the end, Sophie confesses that she also felt it:

Soulmates, these two are the definition of soulmates.

Going back to the day Edmund died, Benedict was the only one who had a presentiment that something life-changing was about to happen.

I am not demeriting the other siblings' relationship with Edmund, only saying that Benedict's personality makes him more prone to these mystical connections. In Daphne's words,

All of this is to say that Benedict wearing vests with bees is totally on character and a genius idea from production. Credit when credit is due. Contrary to Anthony, Benedict does not panic at the sight of bees. His grief process was different. Knowing he doesn't chide away from the tragic moments in his life, I understand if he decides to keep his father close by wearing bees. Maybe he feels that insect, in taking his father's life, also absorbed his soul???

Benedict's clothes are custom-made, meaning the tailor follows Benedict's instructions. He himself requests those designs. He didn't just go to a store and see one he liked. This is huge, it's such an important part of Benedict's character and they better use it in s4.

Again, this is my interpretation. Nothing has been confirmed in the show, but it can't be an arbitrary choice that Benedict is the character who has this feature in every season. Eloise had a headpiece in s1, but I think that's it. It could have hinted that she was the one who saw Edmund dying, but s2 gave that to Anthony 😒. This is also why I hope the show explores Benedict and Edmund's connection, cause not everything about Edmund is related to Anthony. He had 8 children, not just one.

I thought about this and I think the show can expand on this scene:

This happens as Benedict is sleeping and suffering, and Sophie is snooping in his desk. It's the amazing scene where she sees his sketchbook. I'll leave that as it is, but the question about the rock collection may happen later when Benedict is lucid and they can have a conversation about it. I want him to tell her about Edmund, what happened that day. It could also be an opportunity for Sophie to think about her father and maybe share a bit of it with Benedict since he's opening up to her. I want him to go into detail about the rest of the rocks, talk about the Academy, and show Sophie his sketches.

I just know Luke and Yerin will break me.

I'm thinking of writing a one-shot about this, cause 1 year is too much to wait and see if the writers did it.

give us something new please something unexpected different in the show a change the whole show talks about putting a modern spin on that world all the time, what better way would then seeing a man be in the role of carer of his wife like qc takes care of her husband!

We know they won’t change the end couples which is fine don’t mean that sir Philip can’t come to understand and love marina and Marina him and once she is no longer with him he can ofc fall in love again you don’t just fall in love just once in your life there’s first love and then there’s true soulmate love!

Still waiting on that princess Edwina a Brid story for s2 of the spin off after polin season and before Benedict season followed by lady Danbury a Bridgerton story then s5 of Bridgerton, then lastly prince Adolphus a Bridgeton story and the last ever season of Bridgerton having all the remaining 2 siblings stories go together s6 the end! this way everyone gets their happy endings and also first love and true love aka their soulmate love

I have been on the Bridgerton fandom for a while and sometimes i just... regret it because that people are insanely INSANE. i think i wanna do a list of things that keep me in the corner: let's do this.

1. When I finished season 3 one thing crossed my head: Luke Newton and Nicola Coughlan fucked, raw, hard and hot. They fucked. So, after conclusions i found on the verge on the internet their own real ship fandom and they're the most delulu people but some things makes sense. Still think they will be friends forever because soulmateism is very rare nowadays.

2. Straight fans are the worse ones... I was happy with Benedict and Francesca's storyline into the LGBT crusade but those people apparently didn't like it and proceeded to harassing to the actress.

3. Racism and fatphobia. The amount of hate Penelope/Nicola receives are not fair also when same people and polin fans stalk and sent hate to both (Luke and Nicola) because both have a situationship with someone else.

4. SHIPWARS! OMG... cringed soooo many times 😆 toxicity just like any fandom.

I actually don’t know what to do with myself for another two years until we learn what these characters are up to again. Like this season was actually so special to me i am dying for more especially more polin since they cut that short for some benedict awakenings and setting up for his season but i am glad for the bits that we did get.

Overall i do not have too much criticism for this season so i give it a solid 9.5/10
