Tbh I feel like prime was meant to be a regular tv show and not a netflix exclusive. The pacing feels a bit off when binge watching and there's a lot of little things that are recapped when it doesn't feel necessary
#ramblings#sonic prime spoilers#i loved it but i wish it would've released an episode weekly instead of 8 at once#the pacing wouldn't be as much of an issue if it wasn't released all at once#but netflix is stupid#binging is exhausting and it shouldn't be as encouraged as it is#it gives ppl less time to process things#and it's just tiring to watch so much at once. and ppl might not have the time#like if i had to go to school today i wouldn't have been able to watch it as early as i did. nor have the time to watch all of it#how many ppl watch the whole show the first two or three days isn't a good way to know how good it is

Thoughts on Prime S3 - Dread
So I binged Prime season 3 last night. Overall it was a fun ride--the animation was beautiful, the characters' expressions and movements were fantastic, and the voice acting was stellar.
But there were a few things I that poked me the wrong way.
Buckle up, folks. This is gonna get LONG.
Let's start with my beloved. Dread. Specifically, his 'redemption'.
We all knew it was coming. They weren't going to let a Knuckles be a manipulative, selfish, greedy, double-crossing asshole. This is a kids' show, after all, and all the characters have to do the right thing in the end. So his switch to help the heroes save the universe wasn't unexpected.
But the way it was handled gave me whiplash.
We have Dread being a magnificent bastard in season 2. Oh so ruthless and selfish and looking out for number one and eyes on nothing but his Beauty. So much fun to watch this guy be so un-Knuckles like and enjoy every second of it.
But then season 3 comes and he's just . . .
This.
He planted himself by the door and just . . . sat there. One of the most fun and animated and enjoyable characters of the last season is now set decoration.
So. Okay. I'm gonna do what I love to do. Deep dive into his head.
He's moping. He's depressed. He's lost his Beauty, again, and has no idea where it is, or how to get it back. That was his entire focus. He had it, he had it in his grubby little mitts, but lost it.
The first time he failed to get it, he lost his ship, his crew, his courage, and his confidence. He threw himself into denial, becoming a Party Pirate who only cared to be jolly and jovial and distract himself with fun every day. Any mention of his past made him testy. He didn't want to think about it. Didn't want to be reminded of it. He avoided fighting his past crew when they attacked, because he didn't want to face his failures, face his past. So he didn't. He hid. He ran.
But then Sonic gave him an opportunity. A chance to succeed where he'd failed before. And that greedy light was in his eyes again. The tunnel vision, the single focus, the obsession came back full force. And this time he managed to claim what he'd been lusting after for who knows how long. He finally got his Beauty, and it reinforced those feelings of obsession. Of possessiveness.
He manipulated his crew into thinking Sonic was the bad guy for wanting it, and turned his back on them the first second they no longer served him any purpose. His eyes were only for his Beauty.
Then the Chaos Council snagged it from him, and he latched onto their ship like a tick to get it back. He endangered himself, left his home, left behind people who were loyal to him (for whatever reason), all because he wanted the shiny rock back.
And then he lost it again when Nine and Sonic took all three shard pieces back to Ghost Hill. He fought with his urban counterpart, essentially cutting any possible ties of loyalty and help there, and was now stuck in a city he didn't know, with no allies, nowhere to go, and no Beauty.
So it tracks that he would be feeling pretty low. He failed to do the one thing, the only thing, he'd ever wanted to to in his life. He had it. And lost it. Three times.
He's not feeling bad because Nine has them and will use them to destroy everything. He's disappointed in himself for failing. He has no purpose now. Treasure was all that mattered to him--that specific treasure--and now that it's gone and outside of his reach, he feels he has nothing left to care about.
(And as an aside, I love his pose here. Boy just looks so defeated.)
So, okay, I can get that he would be feeling all "Poor Dread, lost me Beauty again" right now. And I think him refusing to go after the rest of his crew when Nine threatened them was also on point. He's still got tunnel vision--"No treasure, what's the point?" It sticks with the Dread that was established in season 2. Nothing in it for him, no treasure, no valuable shiny rocks, he's not gonna waste his time or risk his skin for it.
He has shown exactly zero loyalty in the past, so this fits with his characterization.
Now here's where I would have done things differently. Because very shortly after this, he's right there with the others when they decide to make the raid on Nine's encampment. No hesitation, no grumbling about how he'd 'better be rewarded after all this' or whatever. It's like he's a completely different person. The Dread from season 2 would NOT have done this of his own free will.
Let's back up to before Sonic and the Roses left to save Batten, Sails, and Catfish. Black Rose stopped to ask Dread if he was coming, to which he responded with the aforementioned "No treasure, no point." Rose simply said something along the lines of a disgusted "Some captain" and walked out.
But this was the PERFECT opportunity for a seed of redemption to be planted. Instead of simply walking out, Rose could have turned to him and said something like:
"No point? Look around you! Everything's coming undone, and there'll be nothing left if we don't stick together and stop Nine!"
"Then it shouldn't matter if I go or not!" he replies, shooting her a snarl. "Me Beauty be gone. I be a failure. There ain't nothing left f'r me."
"Ya know, you had people who were loyal to you. People who would have fought by your side until the end. That should have been what mattered to you. But you chose a shiny rock over them instead." She tsk'ed. "Some captain."
To which he would have been all "Sod off and leave me in peace" as they left to rescue the rest of the Angel's Voyage crew.
But the seed would have been planted.
And there could have been a scene, a quick one, where, when Sonic's talking about giving himself up to Nine, Dread has a devious look. "If we go to the fox, he'll have me Beauty. I c'n sneak in and get it back while the others be busy." And then he'd chuckle to himself because he's oh so smart and clever, before standing and joining the others with a boisterous "Let's take the fight to him! We'll teach that no good landlubber t' mess with us!" or some such piratical speech.
So it would appear he's all gung ho about joining the fight, but he still has his selfish reasons that would have stuck with his season 2 characterization.
And then, during the looong fight, we could have had little glimpses of others coming to his aid. Ren specifically, and when his urban twin saves him, he'd look surprised, because they didn't exactly part on good terms.
"Ye . . . saved me?"
"Yeah, so?"
"I thought ye didn't like pirates. Me specifically."
Ren shrugs. "We're all in this together, right? You're here helpin' now, ain't ya? 'Sides, I hate the world endin' more than I hate you. C'mon. Less yakkin', more punchin'."
And that would make Dread think. Just for a moment. Another seed planted. Then he'd blink and head back into battle.
I would even keep the whole 'Jack appeals to Dread's greed' scenario. Because Dread still has that mindset. So he heads in to go for the Prism, sinking back into the Gollum-esque obsession again. But when he sees Black Rose in trouble, that's when those seeds really start to take root. What she said comes to mind again, and he remembers every time they'd helped him. Maybe different members of the crew had jumped in when he was overwhelmed in the fight. He sees other variants helping each other, or helping members of the different groups. How they're putting their lives on the line for people they don't even really know. Helping each other. Saving each other.
He thinks of Ren, who saved him regardless of their last meeting.
With one last look back toward the Prism, Dread jumps down to save Rose.
It could have been handled so easily, with just a few extra seconds of show. Cut out some of the extraneous fight scenes and add some more character interaction/growth. It would have made Dread's redemption seem more genuine, and less of a "Let's just throw away all the characterization he had last season to get to the end."
Love me some Dread. I just think he could have been handled a lot better.

"Arthur Pendragon, the newly crowned King of Britton, is weary of the new life he leads. The battle that solidified his rule drained him of his vigour, and he aches to be carefree once more as he was as a mere squire. He treks into the Dark Woods to unwind from a stressful exchange of power. Unaware that this moonlit night would forever change his life."
Heyo! Here I am with the poll winner from last week (and a few more days)! It's Sonadow hours (Arthlot? I don't know their ship name, but it's King Arthur/Lancelot)
You can find the backstory for this fic under "Keep reading," as I go off on a tangent about its historyfic.
Please enjoy!
This fic is older than all of my other sonic fics. I am not kidding; I've had this draft lying around in my backlog for so long that I have screenshots of its layout and how I was supposed to present this on AO3. The date is September 2023, but my document files say December 2022. Since I usually type fics together in one document before deciding it can have its own document, so it is even older than that. This was supposed to be up ages ago, but I never found the courage and got swept away by the excitement of Sonic Prime. Even though I call myself a recent Sonic fan, that's not true. I grew up with Sonic X and read Sonic fan fiction on Fanfiction.net. (Oh, where has the time gone.)
Bit of a trigger warning for incest and statutory rape. As in mentioned, nothing is talked about graphically.
Now, while I am very particular about using canon as a guideline and knowing the source material like the back of my hand, this is one of my works where I will not do that. A lot of fucked up shit happens in the original compiled story of L' Morte d'Arthur (The Death of King Arthur). I will explain further in the ending notes of the fic, but for one, Arthur is aged up to 19 years old. As in the original legends, he is just called young, which is very vague. He is rewarded sex by a tavern woman for winning the battle, but it is implied she is much older than him. His age is unknown, but an opposing king calls him a beardless boy playing at being a king, and while there are plenty of men who grow a beard well into their adulthood or never, the implication of Arthur's youth and inexperience with life makes me deeply uneasy. So obviously, none of that shit is in here. Canon or not, fanfiction is here to have fun, and I won't write what makes my skin crawl.
I put this on the poll, not knowing if people would want to read this. But seeing as the poll was held on Tumblr, I should not have been surprised that it won by a landslide. I had forgotten how popular this niche ship is within the Sonadow community. And hey, I'm not complaining! I'm all too happy to share this. I read Sonadow since I was a teen, and Lansoni was a guilty pleasure of mine. I am all too happy to add to the collection! Although it is not really Lansoni as it is Sonic as King Arthur, and not actually Sonic being isikai-ed.
I am probably going to go on a SATBK binge after this. It is so weirdly nostalgic for me.

Be sure to watch the season 2 premiere of Moon girl and Devil Dinosaur because the show is in danger of being cancelled
Yeah, everyone at the Disney Beat server and I saw a couple of nights ago, and we've all been so fucking ANGRY at Disney. 14 episodes getting dropped all at once on Disney+?! What the fuck were they thinking?!
(Rant under the cut.)
It's bad enough they release batches of episodes at once like what Netflix did with Sonic Prime, but they plan to drop around half a season there to where they're making the main channel do two episodes per week?! You seriously couldn't do weekly premieres on TV and have the new episodes get released the next day on streaming, like what HBO Max did with Unicorn: Warriors Eternal and My Adventures with Superman?! The fact they reveal this on the MGDD Crew TikTok and paint it as a good thing does not help either. "How could you not celebrate" HOW COULD YOU NOT REALIZE YOU'RE BEING SO FUCKING DENSE RIGHT NOW?! LOOK AT THIS SHIT!
You cannot make this up! Streaming as a whole has seriously fucked over entertainment. Netflix made the binge format the new norm, and it's not working anymore. If you thought shows getting shorter-lived hype through binging compared to a weekly release was an issue, the quantity is a-whole-nother problem. If it was 5 or 6 episodes getting added at a time, that would be less infuriating, but this is 14 half-hour episodes we're talking about! That's 308 minutes of straight-up binging Disney expects us to do! No one is gonna binge this many episodes in a timeframe like that! And keep in mind, this isn't an earlier season from a finished or ongoing show; this is a whole new season we're talking about. People who haven't watched MGADD yet or don't have Disney+ and/or cable are gonna get exposed to a fuck ton of spoilers. Not to mention Disney Channel is gonna have to spend 7 weeks catching up to Disney+ with the episodes they air on TV. That will do a serious number on the TV views! And don't get me started on the international releases because I was told MGADD has been delayed so much to where S2 of dubbing is done (hence the promos in Japan), but considering the company's crapass handling of international releases, people won't be able to watch it until a much later date. Oh, and there are also countries that don't have the show despite it being dubbed in their language. Right off the bat, that's international views down the drain and the strong possibility of people in the other countries being exposed to spoilers depending on what they come across and who they're following.
You know what the absolute kicker is? They had the fucking audacity to reveal this shortly after they treated The Ghost and Molly McGee like garbage. No joke! The very minimal reruns they gave it throughout its run, its cancellation as season 3 was being drafted, the shitty promotions, them releasing "Jinx vs. the Human World" on iTunes and "The End" on YouTube ahead of their TV and Disney+ releases. I am not kidding about the last part; because Disney didn't temporarily remove them, SpoilerTV reported both episodes received only 63K and 56K TV views! Now compare that to the 375K views "Watching and Dreaming" got; all three TOH specials weren't released on YouTube or Disney+ until after the DC/XD simulcast premiere! And this is the same show that got shortened by the now retired Gary Marsh! The upsetting part is Bill Motz is blaming himself for putting too much pressure on the fans for watching TGAMM and appointing ambassadors to help promote it. No, it's not your fault, Bill. It's the Disney executives and their shitty marketing strategy's fault your show got cancelled. You care about the show you and Bob Roth created, and you wanted it to do well. The higher ups didn't bother to continue promoting the show after it premiered, and that alone just forced you, the ambassadors, and the audience to do their job for them. They're the reason why it underperformed on D+ and DC. Now, it may potentially happen again with MGADD thanks to them!
Why did they pulling any of this shit was a good idea?! The show got ample marketing, from an advertisement outside the Days of Christmas store in Disney Springs and Moon Girl herself appearing in Disney California Adventure to merchandise such as a Moon Girl Funko, a couple of books, and even a graphic novel! It has received nominations and won awards, and the current lead executive Ayo Davis said season 1 performed well in ratings! Yet they turn around and pull all of this bullshit as season 2 approaches! Seriously, what is preventing you from doing next-day weekly releases and continuing your marketing, Disney?! All your other Marvel shows have gotten weekly releases and so much promoting, and regardless of the reception of each show, they all get high ratings! That even includes What If…?, the MCU's first animated show! Just because MGADD is adjacent/not entirely connected to the MCU and is a Disney TVA show doesn't give you the excuse to treat it like crap post-season 1!
I'm sorry for the ranting, but this multi-whammy has been so fucking frustrating. I have been a big fan of MGADD since the beginning, and like I previously said, it helped fill the DuckTales-shaped hole in my heart. I'm glad that it has such a strong start, and I want it to continue doing well, but the upcoming 14-episode release was such a fucking gut punch. The more the active Disney Beat server memebrs and I ranted and vented about it, the more furious we grew to where a few of us—myself included—were in tears; it is such a horrendous decision the Disney executives made! I'm at least glad the past week has gotten people to talk about how shows are getting treated nowadays thanks to streaming, and Disney Beat tweeting about the 14-episode bomb release announcement got deleted. Unfortunately, the higher ups most likely deleted it just to save face and won't reverse the decision in the end. Regardless, more people are catching onto the pitfalls with streaming and are noticing how shows no longer have the opportunities to build audiences over time. They are treated as nothing more as a means of gaining views and instant gratification rather than a medium made for one's enjoyment. With the Animation Guild's contract having been expired for around a few months, I hope one of their demands is to stop the shows' mistreatments and lack of sufficient marketing because streaming left a devastating and worsening impact on the entertainment and animation industries.

I just watched Sonic prime, I’m not sane
I remember I was at my friend’s house one time and he was talking about how good Sonic prime was but I said it was a hard pass because I didn’t like the artstyle.
a few days ago I was bored and scrolled through Netflix I decide to just play an episode till I get bored and watch something else and I find myself physically unable to turn the show off like it’s so good and I’m wondering at every turn what’s happening next.
I am flying through the episodes in 3 days a finished season 1. (I had to give the TV to my sister because my parents told me to and go to school for exams the next few days)
I finished season 2 in 2 days and all of season 3 (the one that was just released) in one day.
I am on the edge of seat as an episode ends because of the cliffhangers!!!
I do not know what I was thinking not starting this series but then again I’m glad because waiting for the next seasons would’ve been agony.
And do you know what character I fell in love with?
SHADOW THE FREAKIN HEDGEHOG!!! This emo looking mammal’s sass is one of the peak things in the show (along with Sonic of course)
And I adore his and Sonic’s squabbles.
I’m probably gonna binge watch the lore after this post solely for more interactions between the two and to find more about Shadow’s Backstory
Maria seems to be a recurring theme I see when I read fan comics wonder who that is
anyway so I finish the show and immediately get so many fanfic, fanart just AU ideas in general for the show and I end up making this at 3 am.
so enjoy my 3 am post 😃

You know the character mandate for Sonic - "he must not show excessive emotion"? A lot of us want the mandate gone, and I'm gonna try to explain why. Please note: I only started caring about Sonic again after watching Sonic Prime. I tried to catch up, but it's been many years since I've given it any thought - so fill me in if I've missed some things.
It Would Make Him More Believable
NOT to be confused with realistic. Surprisingly many people confuse these two concepts.
That's right - I don't find him too believable, sorry. No-one is entirely immune to having strong emotions; if a character is experiencing drama, they should react accordingly. This is part of what makes them feel existable, no matter how much of a caricature they are.
It Would Allow Us To Feel With Him, Not Just For Him
Do you know what professional weepers do at funerals? They coax out the feelings in others. It's hard to have a tearjerker if the characters involved don't get to fully show what they're going through. If he's not feeling, why should we?
Would It Really Be That Out Of Character?
As I said - if it really went against Sonic's "personality", the writers wouldn't need to be told; they'd just have to know his character.
I don't buy that crying would be a thing he never does, because we do when something affects us badly enough. Imagine if something horrifying happened to his friends and he was unable to stop it. The only way for this rule to make sense is if he legit doesn't care about anything; like any act of bravery he does is just out of sheer boredom, or something.
But if you still insist this is out of character:
Out-Of-Character Moments Are Necessary
I really shouldn't have to explain this one, but anyway: you know what makes the audience realise things've gotten serious (or seriously good)? A character not acting like themselves!
It Would Help Put Him On Equal Footing With His Friends
There seems to be this thing where he's the one who has it together, needing no guidance or support, is always right - with some inconsequential exceptions - as well as acting as a voice of reason to troubled people. I mean that sounds awesome, right?
Actually I hate it.
Keeping it one-sided like this creates a subtle hierarchy, with him on top, because he's the one who knows best. Not only are the others supposed to be his peers and not subordinates, I also don't think you can have this kind of wisdom without ever having needed it yourself. For example:
In the Secret Rings, he says to Shahra: "Let yourself cry". How does he know it would help? Has he tried it?
Needing that support once in a while would even things out.
To be fair, he can be physically vulnerable, needing rescue and assistance from time to time - probably because it doesn't compromise his coolness, letting him make some clever quips while being broken out of prison or catching a ride from a flying friend.
But making it one sided is bad for the giver, too:
Making It One Sided Is Bad For The Giver, Too
Sonamy shippers make this artwork/comic a lot: Sonic comforting a teary Amy. Nothing wrong with it in and of itself, except these same people almost never reverse it.
If someone else is always on the receiving end of emotional support, it will come at the cost of the provider. Because what are they gonna do for comfort? Binge eating chili dogs?

So I just binged Sonic Prime Season 2, and OH MY GOD I NEED TO TALK ABOUT IT
SPOILERS AHEAD: YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED
if you already watched or don't care about spoilers, rambling is under the cut.
Okay, EP1, the episode where Sonic finally meets up with Shadow was a big step forward compared to Season 1, and it puts my beloved edgy hedgy in a sympathetic light. Yeah, the two fight, but for a damn good reason; given Sonic's the one who fucked things up big time, Shadow doesn't trust that Sonic wouldn't make things worse. Not helping matters is that both were stubborn about Nine, as Shadow doesn't trust him as well, while Sonic does, under the impression that, since Nine is a counterpart of Tails, he'd be as trustworthy as the original, to which Shadow calls BS as the Shatterverse counterparts are their own people and "not (Sonic's) real friends." (we'll come back to this later) Eventually, the two agree that, in order to fix this shattered world, they have to work together, and what a way to set up the second season.
The rest of the episodes before EP5 was a bit of filler, as they follow the formula of "Sonic goes to Shatterspace to retrieve Paradox Shard and fails to the Chaos Council,' but Rusty and Black Rose's friendship was just heartwarming, I loved seeing the otherwise robotic Rusty actually develop and bounce off of Black Rose.
Dread turning his crew against Sonic just so he could have the Shard was a twist that I saw coming, but him abandoning his crew was one that I did not expect.
Seeing Nine help Sonic however he can while being stuck with the Chaos Council was adorable, and sets up the heartbreak for the finale alongside the little debate Sonic and Shad had in EP1.
EP6 gave us Chaos Sonic. MY LOVE, HE IS AMAZING! Snarky robot, LCD face, can kick Sonic's ass any day of the week? Why was he killed in the episode he debuted in? I need more Chaos Sonic.
Finally, the reason I wanted to make a post about this: the finale, EP8. My heart is crying right now. If the rest of Sonic Prime hadn't made it official yet, this is the episode where Sonic's inability to think ahead is cast into the spotlight. Nine is the only one who could repair the Paradox Prism, but he and Sonic have different goals: Nine wanted to start a new life in The Grim with Sonic, who only wants his old world back. However, Nine saw something that Sonic didn't notice until it had to be spelled out for him; if everything is fixed, the Shatterspaces vanish from existence. That includes Nine, too. Not only that, but as the series went on, it became clear that when Sonic said that Nine and the others are real, he completely missed the point of Shadow's statement about how they're not his "real friends," and Nine saw that the little blue bastard didn't see him as his own person; he just saw Nine as an angstier version of his friend and nothing more. This is what causes a beautiful forming friendship between the two to shatter, and for Nine to betray Sonic, and I can't blame either one.
All I have to say is: GIVE ME SEASON 3 DAMMIT

In hindsight, i think Sonic Prime is a series that would have benefited for having a more episodic format that allows the viewers to get to know each shatterverse and the characters that live in them. Something like that Season 1 but maybe Sonic stays longer in each of the shatterverses or it is more loosely connected. Because i feel like with the Netflix binge format it doesn't exactly give you enough time to get to learn about these places aside from the conflict that is introduced in each one of them.
I'm not saying that every version of each character has to be developed but having episodes that explore how they met each other and the relationships between them would have been nice.

Stress Relief and Confrontation
Dr. Deep comes "home" after a stressful meeting with the Chaos Council, feeling tense and frustrated. You’re there to help him unwind and relax. This is followed by confronting the Chaos Council.
bored and i was binging sonic prime and wrote a bunch of crap for dr deep. bc he has nothing and tagging is a bitch.
The Tense Return
Dr. Deep stormed into his quarters, the door sliding shut with a quiet hiss. The air was thick with his frustration, every movement radiating his pent-up tension. The Chaos Council meeting had been an unmitigated disaster, leaving him burdened with their impossible expectations.
You looked up from the couch, immediately sensing his distress. The hunch of his shoulders, the furrowed brows—every part of him screamed frustration and exhaustion.
“Deep, what happened?” you asked softly, your voice filled with concern.
He sighed, running a hand through his teal hair. “The Council. They’re impossible. Nothing I do is ever good enough. They question every decision, every plan. It’s infuriating.”
You stood, crossing the room to him. “Come here,” you said gently, taking his hand and leading him to the couch.
He sat down heavily, his shoulders slumping. “I’m just so tired of it all.”
You could see the strain etched into his features. Without a word, you gently pushed him back against the cushions and began massaging his tense shoulders. “Let me help you relax,” you murmured.
He let out a sigh of relief, his eyes closing as he leaned into your touch. “That feels amazing,” he mumbled, the tension in his shoulders slowly melting away under your skilled hands.
You continued to work on his shoulders, your fingers kneading the knots and tightness out of his muscles. “You work so hard, Deep. You deserve to unwind.”
He opened his eyes, looking up at you with a mixture of gratitude and affection. “I don’t know what I’d do without you,” he admitted, his voice softer than usual.
You leaned in closer, pressing a gentle kiss to his temple. “You don’t have to think about that. I’m always here for you, Deep.”
He smiled, visibly more relaxed. “Thank you,” he said softly. “I just need to remember that.”
“Always,” you reassured him, pulling him into a comforting embrace. “You mean the world to me.”
You waited for Deep to fall asleep before gently moving him so you could get up to deal with the shitty Council for stressing out your partner.
Confronting the Chaos Council
With Deep resting you decided it was time to address the real issue. The Chaos Council had been harsh on him for far too long, and you weren’t going to stand for it any longer.
You found the council members in their usual meeting room, deep in discussion. You didn’t wait for an invitation to speak.
“We need to talk,” you said, your voice sharp and commanding.
Dr. Done-It looked up, surprised and annoyed. “What is it now?”
The shadows in the room seemed to grow and lurch with your rising anger, casting an ominous pall over the council members. You fixed them with a steely gaze, your demeanor shifting from cutesy supportive partner to something far more intimidating.
“I’ve had enough of your nonsense. You need to stop treating Deep like garbage. He’s been working tirelessly, to locate the rebels and instead of helping him, you’re making his job ten times harder.”
Mr. Dr. Eggman raised an eyebrow, but there was a hint of fear in his eyes. “We’re only doing what’s best for the project.”
“No,” you snapped back, your voice icy and unyielding. “You’re undermining his efforts and making him feel like nothing he does is good enough. If you keep treating each other like crap because of your clashing ideas you're all going to crash and burn and you will continue to fail. That’s not how you lead a team. Here’s the deal: you either start treating him with the respect he deserves, or I’ll make sure every one of you regrets it.”
Dr. Don’t tried to interject, but you silenced him with a glare that could melt steel. “If you don’t start treating him properly, I will personally see to it that your lives become a living hell. Apologise to him, when he returns.”
The council members exchanged frightened glances, realizing the gravity of your threat. The air in the room was thick with tension.
Dr. Done-It finally spoke up, his voice trembling. “We... we’re sorry. We didn’t realise how hard we were making things for him.”
“You’d better, apologise to him, not me.” you growled, your voice carrying the weight of a storm. “For his sake, and for the sake of your project.”
Aftermath and Reassurance
As you walked back to Dr. Deep’s quarters, you felt a sense of satisfaction. Confronting the Chaos Council wasn’t easy, but it was necessary. And you knew it would make a world of difference for Dr. Deep.
When you returned, Dr. Deep looked up at you with a smile. “I heard what you did. Mr. Dr. Eggman had his comms on speaker. He always does that. Let me just say, you’re terrifying, when you want to be. Thank you.”
You sat down next to him, taking his hand in yours. “You deserve better, Deep. And I’ll always be here to make sure you get it.”
He leaned in, pressing a gentle kiss to your forehead. “I’m lucky to have you.”

Rewatched Sonic Prime
and the finale of season two basically upped the ante to where the story is either going to have a really good ending or be so bad it brings the entire series down. (Kind of a long-ass post with spoilers if for some reason you haven't felt to binge the almost seven hours of show yet.)
This moment right here completely changed the tone from "Sonic broke the universe and needs to fix it" towards "If Sonic succeeds, he would be committing multiple omnicide"
Sonic Prime Sonic could earn the title "World's most genocidal hedgehog" and that's really interesting.
Now, this is what has been a very basic "modern marvel" "robot chicken"-ass story, I mean very interesting characterization but otherwise very cookie cutter.
Which, I mean, we got a whole season to explore it, but Sonic immediately defaults to his pussy-ass "FRIENDSHIP!!!!!!!!!!!11!!" but kind of the core of the story has been "Sonic's worldview is wrong"
Even though nothing too terrible has happened to him (beyond everyone he knew and loved and could ever know and love potentially being killed forever) it's very clear that the basic message is that Sonic's happy-go-lucky attitude needs to change, but so far we haven't seen what it needs to change into.
So basically
I think Sonic Prime is going to A) Have no fucking idea how to fix this problem it imposed on itself by stating the fact that Nine isn't Tails, and you're going to have to kill three people to bring back your little brother
So it just "Whatever! I don't care! We restored Status Quo without killing entire universes!"
or B) as stated before, Sonic Prime goes down as the Sonic canon that commits genocide across space and time to restore his parody of how news journalists who haven't played since Sonic the Hedgehog 2 react to seeing a human in a Sonic game.
or C) which is the least likely, they make some damn good writing that somehow preserves the new universes without it feeling like a handwave.
Honestly the B option could also be "Nine, Mangy and Sails fuse into Tails who has memories off all three" but that is also unlikely because it has the implications of every single being across the universe becoming plural or something. At least I don't think that's an obvious route to take.
People are concerned about Nine being a villain, and he's definitely going to be an antagonist, but I absolutely do not see how wanting to stop someone from wiping out countless worlds to save his own is a villainous trait.
Maybe they'd have the grim project turn out to destroy the other worlds, but that would come out of nowhere and would be kinda dumb to do the "dooming the multiverse through hubris" twice.
Tho it'd also be kinda interesting if the grim project turns out to be basically Eggmanland except Tails.
Like I'm not expecting the final episode of Sonic Prime to be the gang having a party while Sonic sits in the shadows going "I have become death, destroyer of worlds... literally!" and Shadow's like "You did what you had to do. I won't say more because the memory is punishment enough." and then he teleports away leaving Sonic to stand alone in uncomfortable silence while the party is heard in the background and then it cuts to black for the doofiest ass theme song to play over the credits.
It's more Sonic Prime has the potential to be in a Sonic lore iceberg as "Sonic canonically has more blood on his hands than anyone in fiction or reality"
Which is interesting.

Remaining Questions & Final Thoughts
Continuation of "Hold On To “What If”: Overanalyzing and Rewriting Sonic Prime" essay
[Once Again, spoilers for Sonic Prime, all media here belong to their respective creators.]
✨//🌻//✨
Remaining Questions
Here are all the remaining questions I have about the show! These are more up to debate, since it's most likely it wasn't fully fleshed out in the writer's room, but I did want to add them here anyway:
Can the Shards break into smaller pieces? Is it possible to drain all the energy from the Shards? And, if so, what would happen to the Shatterspaces?
Why was there 5 Eggman “look-alikes” in a single Shatterspace?
Transcript:
Mr. Doctor Eggman: “Five makes one. One makes five.”
[S1 EP1]
Did Eggman make clones of himself but at different ages? Did they exist just because it gave more motivation for the Rebellion and Nine to stand up for themselves when Boscage and No Place didn’t need it? Is this the ray of light allegory, when light shines through a prism and it scatters? Or could the Prism has been broken before cycle theory be true? Or, just like Sonic, Eggman being close to the Prism affect his "look-alikes"?
What did this frame even mean???
no, like seriously, was it for aesthetic reasons or what? That he's gay? (the answer is yes, yes he is. GET GAY BEAMED YOU HOT TOPIC WANNABE)
Final Thoughts
I've been watching Sonic Prime being created ever since Day 1. Of course, I haven't been able to see any leaks of it, they kinda ruin the fun of it all. But I've been hyped ever since the first trailers came out. The multiverse thing has been all the craze for movies and shows, this was no different.
As I said at the beginning of this essay, Sonic got a bit of my interest years ago but I never went further into it. That was until Prime and Frontiers caught it again. I've heard about how the Sonic fandom was toxic and such, but I know it doesn't apply to all of the fans, so I decided to give Sonic a chance. Besides, I've learned to not take things too seriously, after all it's just a speedy blue hedgehog going on adventures. You should've seen me a year ago, I binged through:
Snapcube fandubs
Fadel's (GamesCage) playthrough of Frontiers
IDW comics
sonadow (the OG red and blue couple)
every playthrough I was able to find, in 2x speed, in the background while I was doing college assignments
both Sonic movies
Sonic X
Murder of Sonic the Hedgehog (I even made some art of it with Ace Attorney characters, Link)
Sonic Central and live streams
and I bought my first ever piece of Sonic merch (yes, it counts)
Hey, I was (and still am) a Ace Attorney girlie. So, entering into the Sonic fandom, it was kind of familiar in some ways. The two starve for some content, at times being years of waiting. Just as in any fandom, people may have arguments here and there but when it counts, people come together and enjoy the moment.
When it comes to Prime, I had a fun time. It’s the type of show that you just want to sit down and just be silly. There were times that got me hyped (like the references, Prismatic Sonic 2nd form, Shadow every single time he comes up on screen), and times that I really got me audibly going "aww" (like the Rose sisters, Sonic being silly lil' goof). Then there are all the times I was SCREAMING like a fangirl (...because of the sonadow moments).
listen, i can't help it if i see my boys on screen, okay? just look at them
You know, when I made this, I didn't expect it to be this long. After all, I planned to post my silly little theories before I went abroad for a few months. Instead, I went into maximum overdrive, explaining why Prime had so much potential and how most of it happened was because of the fans, both the viewers and the ones working within the show. There definitely unsung heroes that deserve so much recognition. I would like to personally thank Erik Wiese, one of the people who truly cared for the show. It's not just him though, so many workers on the show also happened to be Sonic fans.
💬 "The fans know how to do it better than the creators themselves..."
I think this applies to Prime. Again, I don't have anything against SEGA or anyone working in the Sonic franchise. But I think a great show in general is one where the crew is willing to give it their all for the fans. That it isn't just another show or cash-grab, but a passion project for the franchise. Something by fans, for the fans. As the song "Live & Learn" goes:
"(Live and learn!) Hanging on the edge of tomorrow; (Live and learn!) From the works of yesterday; (Live and learn!) If you beg or if you borrow; (Live and learn!) You may never find your way!"
So, TL;DR: I didn't think I would be more invested in writing a whole essay about Sonic Prime than in my college thesis but here we are! (holy shit-)
Thank you so much for bearing with me rambling about a silly blue hedgehog and his friends! Likes, Reblogs, and Comments are always appreciated. Again, let me know if you want me to rewrite all of Prime. As always, remember to:
drink water
get some food
stretch
take your meds
get some rest/a break
Now, if you excuse me, I'm going to stare at my bedroom ceiling and think about how Shadow is giving me gender envy—
Take care, my dear fellows, and I'll see you all next time!
