the other thing about sister imperator/mr psaltarian is that he dgaf about nihil at ALLLLLL. nihil is busy crying and throwing up to psaltarian about how he destroyed his own marriage and would give anything to have sister back but psaltarian is telling him that he needs to lock the hell in and focus on the church. meanwhile he knows fully well that he’s gonna go back to his house later and fuck nihil’s ex that’s currently pregnant as hell with his baby😭 a real “you snooze you lose” type of hating bitch

folks on twitter are convinced izzy is going to die in the finale

dunno where I stand on that, as it wouldn't make narrative sense as far as I can tell, but people have pointed out a couple of shots in the trailer/bts footage where it looks like izzy's, at the very least, incapacitated, and then a later scene with a grave on the beach. the episode description says 'a devastating loss' which, yknow, isnt reassuring

that being said - I'm more confident that the Revenge is going to be destroyed somehow. the tagline for this season is 'prepare to have your ship wrecked' which is most likely a double entendre, referring not just to ed and stede but the literal ship too. this could also be the 'devastating loss' and what jenkins is referring to partly as 'the end of piracy' - and the circumstances around ed and stede leaving off the season living in that beach shack. the revenge is sacrificed/caught in the crossfire during the battle with the English, and works to symbolize Ed and Stede leaving that life behind.

could be both. who's to say. I'd hate to lose Izzy after he's worked so hard to break free from the confinement of pirate culture, and after the incredible performance Con has given us. the season opened with izzy dying in a dream; on the one hand, it would be cyclical to have him die in the end, but on the other hand, it would be more fitting for him not to, as stede was wrong in his dream to have izzy being the thing in the way of his and Ed's happiness, when the whole season showed us otherwise. on the other other hand, izzy's comment about finally understanding that ed and stede are good for each other might be foreshadowing to him sacrificing himself so they can escape the english, as a callback to when he sold them out in season 1. suppose we'll find out in a few days...

Sometimes it's the perfect record for 3am, and other times it's the perfect album for 8 am Monday.

Somehow this record gave my previous favorite, Devotion, a run for its money. What a beautiful record. Love the fuzzy cover and clear vinyl combo.

I've posted about Neil Hargrove being the one to get flayed in S3 instead of Billy, but my other favorite character to imagine in Billy's place is Chrissy. There's just so much potential there!

S4 establishes what the other seasons were already making clear (one of the things that ST actually manages to be pretty consistent in showing!): that the Mind Flayer/Vecna/One chooses victims who are alone, victims who are struggling with feelings of trauma and isolation. In that way, any of Vecna's victims from S4 could have worked in Billy's place.

But!

Imagine a Chrissy who got flayed and then lived through it (maybe the Party et. al. are more motivated to save someone who looks teeny and sweet and harmless; maybe Chrissy isn't as much a fighter as Billy so she grabs El and runs for it when El finally breaks through the MF's control). A Chrissy whose first victims included her abusive mom and the oblivious boyfriend who never really saw her as her own person, and who has to deal with the conflicting mess of feelings left behind in the aftermath of being forced to feed them - along with a whole slew of other townspeople - to a mass-murdering eldritch monster from another dimension.

On the one hand, of course it's immensely traumatizing! She feels so much guilt it seems like she'll be crushed under the weight of it some days; other days she doesn't know how to do anything but cry.

On the other hand, a part of her feels relieved that her mom and Jason are gone... which means she must be a monster, too, right? Only a monster would be glad that their mom and boyfriend weren't around, when the reason they were gone was because she fed them to the monster that killed them.

This now sets her up perfectly to find herself lost, adrift; isolated from her usual peer group, distanced from her dad who is also grieving the loss of his wife, feeling stained with innocent blood no matter how many showers she takes or how many times she scrubs her skin raw, until she winds up seeking out the local drug dealing supersenior just for a few precious hours of escape from her own head.

And maybe the local drug dealer is kinda cute, and surprisingly sweet, and he makes her laugh and smile for the first time in months. And she goes to him at first for chemical escape, but the longer she interacts with him the more she starts visiting for a friend.

(And maybe that makes her feel guilty, too, because she likes Eddie. Likes Eddie, the weirdo school freak who Jason always sneered about and looked down on for his satanist aesthetic and his poverty and his Unfortunate family history.

She likes Eddie the way she was supposed to like Jason but kind of didn't anymore even before she fed him to a monster. She likes Eddie in a way she's not sure she ever liked Jason, because Eddie makes her feel good about herself without ever making her feel like she's drowning in other people's expectations for her life. Eddie makes her smile, and he makes her laugh, and he makes her feel safe.

And she's not sure she deserves any of that, but she's getting pretty damn sure that she wants it.)

So when the Upside Down comes back this time, this version of Chrissy isn't unaware of it. She's still dealing with plenty of trauma and isolation in many parts of her life, but she isn't completely alone except for the one nice boy she's barely met before she dies. Instead, she figures out that it's back so quickly, and she goes to the person she's come to trust the most these days for help and to warn him, too.

And instead of dying in horrible pain, thinking she might be going mad and with no idea what's happening to her, traumatizing a boy she barely knows in the process and setting in motion the events that will lead to his death not long later, she and Eddie are able to face the Upside Down together and get each other through this interdimensional monster's latest attempt at destroying Hawkins together.

nothing makes me want to text my ex more than minecraft..... every new world i start is a pale imitation of what we used to have together... fully functioning moats, XP spawners, a giant map room, a secret pirate cove, an epic wizard tower, an underground rail system. we worked on that shit for like two years and i am never gonna see it again because he fucking broke up with me and he was the one who hosted the server.... i don't even know how to do some of the shit that he set up bro like the game will never be the same for me again. all my friends play terraria anyway and i don't think i will ever have as much fun in minecraft as i did with that guy... he made special command blocks so we could have hammer and sickle banners. i don't know how to do that shit. i'm never gonna have hammer and sickle banners again. fuuuuck.

Break Out The Candles - Derrick Pearce (2015) Produced in its entirety by Santiago Clemens and Derrick Pearce, "Break Out The Candles" is, in his own words, an “experimental RnB experience detailing the beginning and end of a relationship and a Sims romantic milestones”. In her QI Magazine review, Sandra Nowell writes: "This album really feels like a piece of art that will stand the test of time. It is Derrick Pearce like we’ve never seen him before. There are traces of classic 1970s soul, bringing to mind the music of groups like The Beaches and singers like Emma Davis, but with a sort of striking modernity to it. The vocals and vocal arrangements are impeccable, not just there for the sake of beauty but working to further the narrative.“ On his record-breaking 2016 world tour, he took those same arrangements to another level with a chamber choir and orchestra, something that insiders say his record label was not happy with. However, the tour grossed §90,000,000, breaking a record previously held by Loretta House with her 1983 tour for Glitter & Denim, which grossed §75,000,000. That same year, he took home the Grammy award for artist and album of the year. Following the success of “Break Out The Candles” he set out to record and release another album, but fans are still waiting for news. 👀
