I've been getting really into Battletech recently and finally had some time to paint some of the minis, started with the ones in the Beginner Box. I painted the Griffin in Lyran colors, and the Vindicator I came up with a scheme for a custom mercenary unit I'm going to call the "Panzer Dragons". I'm still working on designing the logo for them and making a custom transfer sheet but I think I got the paint scheme for them down. These were a really nice break from Warhammer stuff, they don't have as much going on so they paint up faster and I tried some new stuff with Zenithal and Contrast paints with my Merc color scheme which was fun.

Another mech I've admired for a while but lacked the CGL sculpt for- the Vindicator! These little bastards aren't exactly the most stunning mechs on the battlefield but they are rugged, sensibly armed, and cheap enough for even a destitute and diminished House Liao to crank out by the company in the darkest hours of the succession war. I once heard the PPC/M.Las/S.Las/LRM loadout described as a planner attempting to scale an infantryman eith a rifle, pistol, knife, and grenades up to a battlemech scale and I think it's fitting.
Even if the CCAF is capable of procuring superior mechs in the modern day, I like to think that Warrior House Imarra still uses these buggers with an eye to both their historic role in preserving the Confederstion and because it's a real banger of a medium mech chassis.

got my first mechs for my birthday, almost ready for the first game; i just need to add a little moss to the bases (and maybe the mechs themselves)
The first mechwarriors in my deep periphery mercenary company: Wormspat’s Gremlins.
Planning on getting a Stalker and a few other age of war mechs to make an alternative era build to represent the deep periphery pdf: The Mechtown Scraplords….or maybe the: Mechtown Swampthings. i’m still researching and writing lore.
Next stop: A Game Of Armoured Combat box 😁

Battletech Classic in a Capture the Flag Scenario
Ended on a draw as I never quite picked up the flag as my only mechs on the flags fell over before picking them up!
Game was a draw on 2vs2 points, with me killing 2 mechs, one griffin that got brutalized and a Longbow that suffered an ammo explosion after a mighty pummeling
My opponent scoring 1 kill, a TSM powered hatchet from the vindicator through my locusts cockpit - instantly killed. And crippled both the griffin and grasshopper for half a point each.
Fun game with lots of heat shenanigans as my opponent threw plasma rifles and inferno missiles from MMLs all game.

What's your favorite mech/type and what's your proffered regiment type/build for battletech?
I'm a sucker for combined arms regiments, but as far as favorite mechs go, it's more I have a favorite one in each class
Spider/Toro
Vindicator
Warhammer
Fafnir (I guess, kind of. Assaults I'm less fond of in general)

Battlemechs!
I recently finished my third battletech mini so now is as good a time as any to post them. The first two are from one of the beginner boxes. I didn't really have a faction in mind at when painting them so I did a realistic forest camo pattern on the Vindicator (left) and a blizzardy effect on the Griffin (centre). Lastly on the right we have a Wraith from the Alphastrike box that I decided to give an incredibly weathered Comstar paint job. This was so I could use it in eras after Comstar were disarmed as some salvage that hadn't be repainted yet.
I'm not planning on making a Comstar Lance this was just me messing around. I have a feeling I'll end up either painting Clan Jade Falcon (for cartoon inspired paint jobs) or Clan Wolf (The Timberwolf on the cover of Mech Warrior 2 looked so cool to me as a kid, even if now its arms look like bendy straws).

Aaah they're finally all done! My full augmented company is ready to go beat up some Davions. These were a lot of fun to paint, and the prints turned out well. There was some sort of scaling issue, so one of the Men Shens is absolutely tiny compared to the others, but that just adds character
Don't talk to me or my son ever again!
