Happy Valentine's Day! However, Sarna is only serving up broken hearts with a new Bad Mech article. It's time we all came to terms with the Shadowhawk.

Lol call it the transcendent-Prism biscuit 🍪 🌈
was the prism heart cookie for the valentines event supposed to look like the progress pride flag? if yes, genuinely thank you for that, it brightened my day. if no, still thanks for putting a rainbow cookie because it made me smile
Tumblr media
this one? yes! specifically it's one of the intersectional variants - it includes the brown and black stripes, but was added to the game too early for Daniel Quasar's 2018 version that added the transgender stripes. (i can't recall for sure but judging from dates and designs the 2017 Philadelphia eight-stripe may have been the one i was going for?) it's been slipping my mind but i'd like to either update that one or add a new heart biscuit with proper trans stripes one day!

Trench Quarfare
My first painted Quar and I had so much fun! I really want to do an army of these guys now. I'm really hoping he does well at a competition I'm attending this month.

I need to get some glowy paints and a light for these kinda shots.
Tumblr media
So I finished the Savage Wolf I got for Christmas. I built it up in the Primary configuration and after talking to the person who got it for me I ended up painting it up in what might be called the "Player 2" version of the scheme I use for my Clan Ghost Bear Omega Galaxy mechs.

Oh one last note.
I intend to write up a more formal document... Eventually?
With a bare-bones (akin to above) and full Draft rules (more like with the changes).
Additonally an option for running a Rogue-like deck-building event where you draft a new card every round (draft 3, winner picks first, remaining card goes back in the pool), along with other options as we test them out.
So uh - stay tuned.
Alpha Strike: Draft
(or Rogue-Strike)
So been working on an idea and we tried it out last night. Will continue to iterate but here's the general gist of how this works.
All players bring a draft-list and a single Champion which they are guaranteed to have. The draft-lists are then shuffled and dealt into hands of equal size, 1 per player. Players go through the general process of "pick-one and pass it on" to their left until all hands are empty.
From here, players field a force using the sideboard assembled from their drafting. We used Wolfnet scenarios to encourage a diverse draft.
For more specifics:
We played with draft lists of 250PV and 7 units.
The champion could be up to 70PV but must be skill 2 or 3
The deployment size was 150PV
Alternative Munitions were in play, along with all specials.
Wolfnet 350 missions used for diversity but I would encourage using a wide range of missions.
Now, after our first trial we are adjusting some values and introducing some new features to add to the experience.
Draft list 250PV -> 300PV
Draft list 7 units -> 9 units
Champion 70PV -> 50PV
Unspent Champion PV will be added to your deployment budget
Deployment budget 150PV -> 200PV
A single formation of [4-6] units, using Formation Building rules can be put together during deployment to receive the bonus
6 Turn limit to all Scenarios
So yeah, that's the first *Draft* of AS:Draft that I'm running at our club.
It's been a hit out the gate, and it encouraged a lot of people to put stuff on the field they normally wouldn't. We saw people new to the hobby get to play with miniatures possibly older than they are! And I even got to see my Skill 2 Urbanmech waddle to glory!
This format had a focus on casual and non-meta play. So I would love to see if anybody else tries this at their club or group and get some feedback!

The aerospace over a ground map rules are not much better in Alpha Strike than they are in Classic.
Would just stay clear or use them on their own in a Aerospace dog fight.
So I dropped by my LGS the other day, and they must've gotten their Mercs order in cause they had a bunch of new Battletech stuff in. Including something I've had my eye on for a long time, the Shilone and Visigoth aerospace fighters.
Tumblr media
So I had to pick em up. Unnnfortunately, the tabletop rules for aerospace are..... extensive. And I have no fucking clue how to use them. Trying to parse the already incredibly detailed and complex aerospace rules through the unhelpful jargonspeak of battletech rulebooks is proving difficult.
Does anyone have like, a simplified ruleset for planes?
Please advise.

us politics has been beamed into everyone’s brains non stop for the past year - please remember & remind people you know, that ‘wasting your vote’ on minor parties doesn’t exist in australia. you can and should put minor parties at the top of your preferences and your vote will still matter
