I cannot believe I'm saying this but I just argued with someone who was insisting that Dick is abusive and cruel to his family and friends while excusing Jason's actions as "the pit did it". Please give me sweet/cute moments between Dick and his friends/family, whether that's just him listening (like the time he dropped everything so Tim could vent to him) or helping out etc

In complete seriousness, if someone ever said Dick wasn't the best robin in Tim's hearing range he would actually chew through their arms with his bare teeth.

His belief in Dick is unshakeable. His admiration has no bounds.

Again and again Tim talks about good Dick is at everything and over and over Dick talks about how good Tim is. They really love each other from the bottom of their hearts.

What's special about Dick and Tim's relationship is what Tim says here: "You promised me that you'd do a quadruple somersault. And you delivered."

Dick will always deliver for Tim. Anyplace, anytime, he's ready to drop everything for him. That's how much Tim means to him.

I love reading about Dick and Tim's interactions because they tease each other in the funniest ways but there's almost an overwhelming undercurrent of affection in each of their voices. They're adorable.

I don’t get why people are always harping on about the Bats (especially Bruce) needing therapy.

Bruce has had PLENTY of therapy. You’re all also complaining about the outcomes of it right now (possession by Zurr-En-Arrh).

But seriously, off the top of my head, random forms of therapy Bruce has used:-

Sensory deprivation tank (Batman 156 aka Robin Dies at Dawn, Batman…136 revisit in the current plot)

The Thogal Ritual (52 and Batman 673, where Bruce just goes and sits in a cave for a while to meditate on life and death)

That time he hypnotised himself into forgetting he’s Batman (Transference, GK 8-11)

Getting gassed and requiring motivation to live (Batman 112)

Designing Zurr-En-Arrh as a backup personality (Batman RIP, Failsafe)

Punching his problems (see…most comics)

I am sure there are plenty more too.

But Zahri, hypnotising yourself to create split extra personalities isn’t a recognised form of mental health treatment!

Did I say this was positive mental health treatment? No. I said it was therapy. It’s all shit Bruce has done to his brain over the years.

Stop trying to turn poor Dinah into a therapist (there are at least a dozen named therapists all over DC that haven’t even turned evil - including the current Power Girl & Omen therapy team if you insist on a superhero), and start admitting Bruce HAS tried plenty of ways to deal with his problems. They’re just not board certified ones and they’re mostly hilariously dangerous to both Bruce and those around him.

qn, how exactly does the silver age titans (the team with mal, lilith) tie in with marv's NTT? just started NTT and im very confused lol.

in another note, the golden age batman and robin comics are not my thing, but id still like to read the important bits to understand that era's characterization of the two. which comics would you rec, if you dont mind me asking? apart from the black casebook ofc

Hi, the original Teen Titans split up in vol 1 # 53 (1978). And then Raven collected a new team in NTT # 1 (1980), with some new and some old members.

Three of them first teamed up in Brave and Bold #54 (1964), the first time the original five were together was in Teen Titans # 4 (1966). I know a lot of us wants the “fab five” from start, but Roy was seldom with the team the first years 😔 And Mal and Lilith were later additions. (Teen Titans Year One from 2008, and World’s Finest Teen Titans from 2023 aren’t bad, if you want to read modern takes on the first TT team).

For the Golden age, check out this reading recommendation list that covers both older and newer comics. I wouldn’t say a lot of Golden age stories are necessary, if you don’t enjoy them. Dick’s original debut in DC#38 is maybe nice to have read, and Robin Dies at Dawn in Batman vol 1 # 156 is a splendid story, maybe the first bat-story to take trauma response seriously, and it’s influenced later comics in different ways.

Batman’s rainbow suit in DC # 241 is another story that is referenced here and there, but that story is just for fun… The reason for Batman’s bizarre behaviour is rather cute, though 😉
