Inside Sunrise Interview
Tumblr media
Inside Sunrise interview with Masayuki Ozaki and Kazuhiko Tamura. This is transcribed from an Anime News Network video linked below.
The Origin of Tiger & Bunny
Ozaki:
The idea for Tiger & Bunny came from two different roots. The first was Director Keiichi Sato's sentiments. To Director Sato, it's a story about heroes with mundane problems. The director said he wanted to depict a superhero drama with a sense of life to it. The other was my sentiments, as a producer. I wanted to depict the conflict and drama one sees when they've belonged to an organization for a while.
The impetus for the project came from the controversy over the competition swimsuits in the Beijing Olympics. I saw in an interview that wearing one particular kind of swimsuit gave you a chance at setting a record but, well, the athletes who had contracts with Japanese companies couldn't wear that fast swimsuit.
At the time, we were coming up with the project, so we thought the conflict of those athletes who belonged to those industries was very interesting and intriguing. And so we thought it would be nice to take the Director's desire to make a hero story, the story of heroes who have to bear the weight of sponsors, and depict the conflict, drama, and culture that lies behind all of that. So that's, well, how the idea came to fruition.
Tamura:
This is where we work on the storyboard for Tiger & Bunny. We're very particular about using pencil, and, um, the expression of performance, you could say. There are things you can't express without using pencil to depict motion, so we pay extra attention to those parts.
This is called the layout. A layout, you see, is this image, framed here by the screen. It's an image we use to make sure how it'll fit in the television frame. We use this as a base to create the key animation.
Oh, this character is Blue Rose. It's a scene where Blue Rose is drinking soda. It's part of a TV ad campaign in Japan. The drink is for one of the sponsors, but this is the test layout for that. We'll use this as a base to draw the animation.
Thoughts on the Characters
Ozaki:
When we were working on the costume design for the heroes of Tiger & Bunny, we paid special attention to their variety. There are 8 heroes who appear in this work, but from the start we had the idea that their suits should be diverse. We set the story in a near-future city that's anethnic melting pot, so the characters themselves were set to be a variety of races. There's a Russian character, a Chinese one, a Hispanic one, and a Japanese one too. We thought the hero suits should be designed to match those different characteristics.
Character Designer Masakazu Katsura, himself is very knowledgeable about superheroes. He loves superheroes, in particular, those from American comic books. Director Sato really liked that aspect as well. So Mr. Katsura pulled out a whole lot of ideas for what he wanted the superhero designs to be like. Fire emblem really is the kind of suit-wearing super hero you might find in American comic books.
A hero made with a bull as it's motif. Rock Bison is the kind of design you'll find in Japanese Tokusatsu, but not in American comics and that was the kind of variation we wanted it to have.
Tamura:
This right here is the CG check movie. We're running a check on the motion. We work on drawing the animation after we first make the CG.
Visual Effects Efforts
Ozaki:
Also, one of the visual aspects of Tiger & Bunny we were really conscientious about was depicting the heroes primarily through CG. The female character Blue Rose is the only one that's frequently hand drawn, but basically Tiger, Barnaby, and the others are all CG. They're designed to actually bear industry logos so since those industry logos would change over and over, we'd have to draw it over and over if they were hand drawn. That'd make it very difficult. But by making them CG, that kind of work, the swapping out of corporate logos, is not big deal.
One other reason is, we were keeping the world market in mind, and because of Pixar and Disney, CG animation is the visual style people around the world are most used to seeing. Hand-drawn animation certainly has its own good points, but in the end, we thought CG had the most universality and we designed each hero in CG. In doing it that way, we're able to come up with some pretty detailed imagery. For example, the hero Fire Emblem wears a cape, and that cape constantly flickers with fire as a pattern. If that was hand-drawn we couldn't do something like that. Those are the kinds of visual effects we focused on.
About Kotetsu
Ozaki:
The design for the character Kotetsu was clearly risky. For starters, he's middle-aged, has a beard, and is a single father. Characters like that in animation are, well, how do I say…it's a fact that they're hard for viewers to accept. The truth is, we were half hopeful and half fearful, but in the end we went with that design for the animation, and luckily, he's well accepted right now. We're actually getting word from the fans that they can empathize with him, and we're very happy to hear that reaction.
Kotetsu wasn't the only character, there's his partner, the younger Barnaby. This is a buddy story. By having another main character, we think we've established a very nice balance. Kotetsu's a middle-aged guy who used to be popular back in the day, but lately he's not doing so well. That's his character background. That said, there were things we wanted to illustrate thematically with him, like the importance of never giving up, of the bonds between people, things of that nature.
Plus, Hollywood movies, especially lately, are getting lots of sequels, and as the main character's actor gets older, they write the character to age with him. By part 4 or 5, he's already middle aged. Their refusal to give up, their continued fight, gave us some queues as well. You can say it's targeted more towards adults. As for me, I want to create dramas with universality, dramas that people of any generation can sympathize with and to keep making them in the future. That's what I hope for.

Happy Tiger & Bunny Day!
>The entire arena cheers at the stroke of midnight, beginning Tiger & Bunny Day.
Mario: As part of Justice Week, the Mayor has declared April 4th Tiger & Bunny Day since it's the anniversary of the first episode the anime series, Tiger & Bunny. Hard to believe it's been 12 years and we now have 12 heroes. Let's see how each one is doing. Let's start with our Crusher of Justice and one of our veterans in the Hero Buddy System: Kotetsu Kaburagi, aka Wild Tiger!
Tumblr media
Thanks, Mario. Though I wish you wouldn't have used my real name. I may not have my powers anymore and no longer a hero, I still have to hide my identity. Anyway, I'm still trying to find a way to keep busy. I still want to be involved in Hero TV.
Mario: You could always try becoming an announcer... Actually, don't. I already have the job... But I suppose there's always that.
Kotetsu: (curious) What do you mean?
Mario: (smiling) You'll see when Justice Day comes. So, what are you doing now?
Kotetsu: Well, right now, I'm making my famous fried rice. My family's coming over for Justice Day. We're going to the Blorkus Spring Fair and then the parade.
Mario: I'm told you go there every year. Have you ever thought about doing anything different?
Kotetsu: I don't see why we should change a perfectly good family tradition.
Mario: That is true. Me and the old ball n' chain watch the parade every year without fail... (nervously) Not that she is a ball n' chain. She's one of the best things that ever happened to me. Well, thanks for you time, Ko- I mean, Wild Tiger.
Kotetsu: Anytime.
Mario: (Oh boy, I wonder what Agnes and Lloyds will say if he's not coming.) And now, we should check on Super Scion of the Aristocracy and the other veteran of the Buddy System: Barnaby Brooks Jr.!
Tumblr media
Thanks, Mario. It's a pleasure.
Mario: So, what are you doing now?
Barnaby: Well, I just finished reading The Legend of the Goddess of Justice to the children here at the orphanage. I've never seen them more excited for Justice Day since that one Justice Day when we thought the legend was coming true.
Mario: Yes, that was a very memorable time. They even made a movie out of it. It just makes me wish to know if they're going to make a third one.
Barnaby: We can only hope.
Mario: Which makes me wonder, what will you be doing on Justice Day? Will you be coming to the Justice Day Ball at the Maylor's mansion this year?
Barnaby: I don't know. I was hoping to take the kids here to the fair and the parade... But I saw what happened... (wink) Don't worry, I'll make sure he comes.
Mario: (unsure) Okay. Thanks for your time, Barnaby.
Barnaby: Happy to help.
Mario: And next up, the Wondering Prince of Gravity, Ryan Goldsmith, aka Golden Ryan.
Tumblr media
Thank you! Who's awesome? I'm awesome!
Mario: (unimpressed and whispering) I think that's mantra's taken. (back to normal and out loud) So, Ryan, how are you doing?
Ryan: Just fine. Just watched a movie with my pet, Molly. I thought it would be a nice way to spend some time before Justice Day.
Mario: So, you'll be going to the ball that day?
Ryan: You bet. I've got my tickets and my suit ready.
Mario: That's great. Will we be seeing Blue Rose coming with you.
Ryan: (laughing) You wish. She's performing at the parade. But don't worry. I have someone in mind... Jr. said so.
Mario: Oh, now we're really curious. Anyway, thanks for your time.
Ryan: Just make sure you get my good side when they show the ball on TV.
Mario: I'm sure we will. And speaking of the Icy Superstar, let's check on Blue Rose now. How are you, my dear?
Tumblr media
Thanks, I'm fine. Just getting in some last minute rehearsals before the big day.
Mario: Yes, Ryan told us. Have you got a new song for us in store?
Blue Rose: Not really. Just some of the recent stuff, but I know some new talents that might have something up their sleeves. I just know they'll be the real show stopper.
Mario: True. But I doubt... Never mind.
Blue Rose: (unimpressed) Yeah, we better.
Mario: But still, we can't wait for any new songs you might come up with soon.
Blue Rose: Don't worry. I will. I'm actually working on one right now. It's still a working progress, but you'll hear it soon enough.
Mario: I'm sure we will. Thank you for your time.
Blue Rose: Hope to see you all at the Justice Day Parade!
Mario: Now, to check up on our Expert of Being Seen in the Background, Origami Cyclone, who, at this time, is with his partner, the Bulltank of the West Coast, Rock Bison.
Tumblr media
Thank you.
Mario: Where's Bison?
Origami Cyclone: Probably best you don't know.
>You can clearly hear the sound of gagging in the background.
Mario: So, got any plans for Justice Day?
Origami Cyclone: Not really. I'm just going to hang out with some old classmates from the Hero Academy. Catch a movie and then finish off with the parade.
Mario: Does that include He Is Thomas?
Origami Cyclone: No. He's got plans with his sister.
Mario: Really? I would have thought you would go to the ball.
Origami Cyclone: No, but Bison is. Right?
Tumblr media
(panting and staggering) You bet I am! I'm gonna have ball- (quickly ducks out of the camera and clearly into a toilet)
Mario: (a bit worried) I thought he quit drinking.
Origami Cyclone: Actually, we were having dinner and he eat some bad sushi. As you hear, one of the chefs is being yelled at by the manager.
Voice from outside the bathroom: YOU'RE FIRED! HOW COULD YOU SERVE SUSHI THAT WAS ON THE FLOOR!?
Other voice from outside: (nervously) Three second rule...
>More gagging could be heard from Bison. Origami is not happy with what he sees in the bowl.
Origami Cyclone: (serious) And there's blood there. Sorry, we'll have to cut this short, gotta get this one to the ER. Thanks for checking in.
Mario: Sounds like the hospital's going to have their hands full. Here's wishing Bison a speedy recovery. Next up, the Wind Master, Sky High, and his partner, the Bourgeois Open Flame Broil, Fire Emblem!
Tumblr media
We're so happy that for the interview. Thanks, and thanks again!
Mario: Do I see fancy wear in the background? Are you two going to the ball?
Tumblr media
(this is the only picture I could find) You bet! I know we'll be the stars of the ball... Until the surprise. I'm told this year's Justice Day Ball at the Mayoral Mansion promises to be a memorable one.
Mario: Really? What is it?
Sky High: We're not sure ourselves at the moment. We're just as excited about this as you are.
Mario: No doubt. Thank you for your time.
Sky High and Fire Emblem: You're welcome, and you're welcome again!
Mario: And now, to see the Lightning Bolt Kung-Fu Master, Dragon Kid!
Tumblr media
Thanks, Mario. I was just doing some last minute training. I'll be back.
Mario: So, got any plans for Justice Day?
Dragon Kid: It took a while, but it looks like my parents can come for Justice Day. We're even going to the ball at the Mayor's house.
Mario: That's wonderful. Got any plans for the rest of Justice Week with them?
Dragon Kid: Well, mostly we're just going to do some sightseeing until it's time for them to go home. But I'm sure it won't be so bad. There might be some places in Sternbild we might not even know about.
Mario: You mean... Everlasting Life? You don't really believe that, do you?
Dragon Kid: Who knows, Mario. Who knows. Well, better get back to training. See you at the ball.
Mario: (whispering) It takes all kinds of people. (out loud) Anyway, let's move on to the Magical Girl Carnivoran, Magical Cat!
Tumblr media
Hello, everyone!
Mario: So, what are you up to?
Magical Cat: I convinced my mother to play tennis with me. She's just taking a break right now.
Mario: So, what do you have planned for Justice Day?
Magical Cat: Me and Mama usually spend it with a big dinner and watching the parade on TV. But this year, my boss gave me a ticket to the ball. I'll be going. I wanted to bring Mama with me, but she says it would make me stand up more to the fans if I want by myself. Of course, she doesn't mind I share the spotlight with Dragon Kid. I can't wait to see what will happen.
Mario: Neither can I. Or the fans.
Magical Cat: (hearing a flushing sound nearby) Sounds like Mama's coming back. Hope to see you later!
Mario: Same here. Now for the One Adorned in White Light, He Is Thomas!
Tumblr media
... Hello. I'm just here with my sister.
Tumblr media
(this is the only picture I could find) Hello, everyone!
Mario: How sweet. Spending time with you little sister. I guess you two have plans for Justice Day?
Ruby: Yes. First, we're going to visit the Spring Fair and then we're going to a ball.
Mario: Does this mean we'll be seeing you at the Mayoral Mansion on Justice Day?
He Is Thomas: Yes. It was Carlotta's idea.
Mario: Even Mr. Black?
He Is Thomas: He says he already has plans for that day... Carlotta was really upset.
Mario: I can imagine that. But I hope you two will have a fantastic time.
Ruby: I'm sure we will.
He Is Thomas: Thank you.
Mario: Just one Hero left: The Literal Man in Black, Mr. Black!
Tumblr media
What was that?
Mario: Oops! Caught you at a bad time?
Mr. Black: (just realizing he failed to acknowledge the camera again and pulling the towel up) Holy shoot! When did you guys get here?
Mario: We're just checking up on our Heroes and asking what they have planned for Justice Day. Thomas said you're not going to the ball.
Mr. Black: I'm not. One of my friends from Panjourney's coming over to visit for Justice Day. We're just gonna do some sightseeing, hit up the fair, and finally end it with the parade.
Mario: That sound nice. Having a friend over from when you were Hello Goodbye.
Mr. Black: No kidding. (starting to get embarrassed) Now could you please leave? I was just about to take a shower.
Mario: Right, thank you for your time. (whispering) I wonder how many fans he'll earn from that interview? (out loud) Well, that's all the heroes we can interview. Before we end tonight's program, a word from the famous NEXT, Little Aurora.
Tumblr media
Thank you, Mario. It is wonderful to know that our heroes find some time outside of being heroes. These days, we hope to celebrate Justice Day knowing that for this day, and, possibly now, Justice Week, we are reminded that we all carry a heart of justice. For when all is said and done, we are one people. Thank you.
Mario: And that concludes tonight's program. We hope to see you all again soon. This has been Hero TV Live!

The Brokenwood Mysteries (2018) - S5E4 "The Dark Angel"
After being told he can't have his lawyer because Dennis is in the hospital (you'd think he'd still have the right to seek other legal counsel?) he says "Well I want my therapist, then".
Shepherd asks Barnaby why he was at Brokenwood Downes, but Barnaby doesn't answer, breathing heavily. Sims then asks if he received an invitation. Barnaby still doesn't answer, though you can tell by his breathing that the topic stresses him out.
(I think this is training from his brother, not to answer. But he doesn't get to have a lawyer, so-)
His therapist then encourages him to just answer the questions so they can all leave.
Barnaby says (sounding annoyed, which made me like him) - "Yes. To a party. Jakob Deschler was having a soirée to apologize for his past actions and I was very keen to attend because he had a lot to apologize for." He does some stressed out blinking as he answers, poor bb.
AND JAKOB DEFINITELY HAD A LOT TO APOLOGIZE FOR.

Britten consideră opera ca un simbol a luptei individului față de preconcepțiile societății “A subject very close to my heart—the struggle of the individual against the masses. The more vicious the society, the more vicious the individual.”

Prince Tom Holland X Male Reader
Chapter 7
Tumblr media
Summary: your parents made a political arrangement for your younger sister to get married to a prince from a neighbouring country, but what happens when you start to fall for his older brother?
Previous Chapter: in masterlist
Warnings⚠️: slight offense language
Tumblr media
“Alright,” I said, calming her down. “You know how parliament works, right?” I asked. “Yeah, we have to know,” said in a matter of fact tone. “Well, we can fight the law that makes it illegal to be attracted to members of the same sex,” I said. “How?” She asked. “You didn’t let me finish,” I continued, “our parliament doesn’t have absolute parliament, which means if we get enough people to vote in our favour, we can overrule parliament’s decision and we wouldn’t even need the King and Queen.” “Ok, but how would we get the people on our side?” Sylvia asked. “By asking around and seeing where they stand. We’d be able to see if we should go straight to parliament or if we need to get more people on our side,” I told her. “Again, how do we get the people on our side?” She asked again. “I have my ways,” I smirked. “You are a very convincing man,” she said. “I am indeed,” I confirmed. “What If mom and dad, or Kind Dominic and Queen Nicola try and stop us?” She asked. “They wouldn’t be able to,” I assured her, “No one would be able to.” “Good, I don’t want to marry Prince Sam,” she said. “I know,” I said as I pulled her in to a hug. “Thank you,” She said softly. “You know I love you,” I said. “I know,” she said quietly. We sat there for a good chunk of time until Sylvia decided that she wanted to forget about wedding in general for a while.
Tumblr media
We decided to practice our swordsmanship, like we did when we were children. I’ve always loved sword fighting, and Sylvia liked to play pirates, just like we had read about in books. Sylvia and I are best friends, we didn’t really have any other friends, only eachother. We had a very few royal friends, and we hardly ever got to see them. We would mostly play with eachother, sometimes we got to play with the srevants’ children, but not much. We practically did everything together, practiced playing instruments, read, ride horses, learn how to properly act like royalty, ...etc. When I heard that Sylvia was going to have to get married and leave I was a a little more bit saddened, but it would happen eventually. I always thought I would be the first to get married, being the oldest and all.
Eventually, we got tired out and went to prepare for dinner. I got out of my sweaty clothes as fast as I could, and I washed up. As I did, I thought about all the things I did today, I prayed my archery skills, I read a bit, promised to teach Gorge to read, I got to catch up with Sylvia, and practice sword fighting, it was an overall good day, except for learning that I’m most likely going to have to try and change the law all so Sylvia doesn’t have to marry Prince Sam, but it’s for the better, for Sylvia’s happiness and for people like me. It’s going to be hard, but it will be worth it. I finished up and changed and started heading to Sylvia’s chambers to escort her to dinner.
Tumblr media
“How was your day?” Thomas asked. “My day was pretty good, what about yours?” I replied. “Good,” he answered. “What did you do today?” He asked. “Well, I practiced archery and sword fighting, I read a little, and caught up with Sylvia, not particularly in that order. And you?” I told. “I just had a meeting with Haz about trade between our countries,” he said. “Fun,” I said. “Not really,” he corrected me. “Oh,” I said plainly. “Are you ok? It looks like you have something on your mind,” He asked. “I’ll tell you about it later,” I replied rather quickly. “Could I have some ale?” I asked. “Our finest ale for Prince (Y/N)!!!” Thomas shouted. “No! Not your finest, just whatever is fine!” I said. “Are you sure you’re ok?” He asked, “I’ll tell you after dinner,” I said as someone placed a cup of beer in front of me. “Promise?” He asked. “Promise,” I replied. I finished my dinner and downed my beer pretty quickly. Everyone finished soon after.
“You ready?” Thomas grabbed my hand, Sylvia smirked. “Yeah” I said as we headed to my room.
Tumblr media
We made it to my room and sat on the bed. “Where should I start?” I said asked. “How about the beginning?” Thomas giggles, I chuckled a bit as well. “First, how much do you know about parliament?” I asked. “Not much,” Thomas said. “Damnit,” I said under my breath. “Ok, neither of our parliaments have absolute sovereignty,” I started. “No offense, but this isn’t all that interesting,” Thomas said. “Well I find it interesting, and in this case useful,” I said. “Of course you would find it interesting,” he replied. “What’s that supposed to mean?” I asked. “Nothing, I think it’s sorta cute,” he replied. “Of course you would,” I said, he smiled. “Stop distracting me, this is important,” I said, getting us back on topic. “Ok,” he said in mock defense. “Point is Sylvia doesn’t want to marry Sam,” I said. “Neither does Sam,” Thomas said. ‘How convenient,’ I thought. “But we still need for a union between the two royal families,” I went on. “Ok, Promise you won’t get all freaked out on me?” I asked, nervously. “Promise,” Thomas said. “Here we go,” I said under my breath, “I really like you, but I don’t want to rush into things, we only just met not that long ago and Sylvia’s in love with someone else and so I was hoping that we could get married so that she doesn’t have to, but I don’t want to make things awkward between us and I just-” “I’ll do it,” Thomas interrupted. “You will? Thanks you so much,” I wrapped my arms around Thomas. “I get it, I feel the same way,” he said. “But how are we going to do it? Marriage between two members of the same sex is illegal.” He said. “I was trying to tell you how we can make it legal before you told me it was kinda boring,” I explained. “Oh, sorry,” he said. “It’s ok,” I said. “Basically, we just need a bunch of people on our side and we can overrule parliament,” I wanna explained to him. “What If the King and Queen decide they want to stop us?” He asked. “If we have enough people on our side, they won’t be able to,” I said. “Lest start recruiting people tomorrow,” Thomas said. “How about right now?” I asked. “What?” Thomas asked. “I know a ton of people who would be on our side,” I told. “It’s a relatively short horse ride,” I said. I grabbed his and started running to the horse stables.
Tumblr media
“Where are we going?” Thomas asked as we approached the stables. I ignored his question and asked one of my own Instead, “can I ride Barnaby?” I asked. “I guess,” Thomas replayed, still obvious confused. I got on Barnaby as fast I as could. “Come In we don’t have to to get out another horse, get on,” I said to Thomas. I helped as much as I could to get on Barnaby. I took off as fast as I could. It felt great, the wind rushing through my hair, Thomas’ arms wrapped around my waist, the adrenaline. After quite a while we made it to our destination. I hopped off and helped Thomas down, and tied Barnaby to a poll.
“Where are we?” asked Thomas. “It will all make sense in a second,” I informed. I approached the door, and did the secret knock, a little slot opened up revealing a pair of eyes. “What’s the password?” The man said. “Leonard, it’s me, (Y/N),” I said. “You still need to say the pas-” “fine, blueberries,” I cut him off. The slot shut and there were a few sounds before the door opened, revealing Leonard. “How are you Leonard?” I asked. “Good and you?” He replied. “I’m good,” I answered, “I have an important announcement, you may get want to come with us,” I said as he licked the door, he just nodded in response. I lead the way down the dark hallway and through a door into a much shorter hallway and finally through the big black curtain, revealing a bunch of my friends. “(Y/N)!!!” Multiple people cheer, at my arrival. “Can I get you anything, (Y/N)?” The bartender asked. “Just the usual, Thanks John,” I replied as placed some money down on the bar. As John was getting my beer, Thomas leaned over and whispered, “those men are dressed like woman,” into my ear. “I know, isn’t it great?” I whispered back, he just gave a confused look. Thomas opened mouth to say something, but was interrupted by John giving my beer. “(Y/N), how you doing?” One of my friend’s Greg said. “Good, but I don’t have time to catch up, I have something important to do,” I said as I got up on a table. “May I have everyone’s attention?” I said loudly, the place got quiet as everyone turned their attention to me. “I need your help. What I’m going to do will be risky, it will be dangerous, but it will be for the greater good,” I motioned for Thomas to get up on the table with me, “Thomas and I plan to get married,” I said as raised his and my intertwined hands above our heads, the room interrupted with cheers. “But as you know it is highly illegal, that’s why we need your help if we can get enough people on our side, we can take it to parliament and even overrule their decision,” I shouted, cheers rang out again. “Tell your friends, especially the guys who aren’t here right now,” I reminded. “Does anyone know where the ‘sodomites’ of Thomas’s kingdom, Bisosal, hangout?” I asked, I hate that that word, “sodomites” it’s so derogatory, but it’s the only word we’ve got. “Yeah,” someone said. I hopped down and got the information I needed from them and grabbed Thomas and headed towards the door. I chugged my beer and placed my cup on the counter and left, saying good bye to Leonard.
Thomas and I got on Barnaby, and took off. “You’re going in the wrong direction,” Thomas said. “We have to make another stop first,” I replied.
Tumblr media
We arrived at the bar and repeated the same process as the first one. As we entered the actual bar part, the room fell silent as everyone’s eyes burned through our souls. “It’s okay, we need your help,” I assured. “What could you possibly do that would require our help?” One woman asked. “This man and I plan to get married,” I replied. Once they realized Thomas and I weren’t here to shut down the bar or to lick them up, but that I was one of them, they warmed up to us.”but how do you intend to do that?” She asked. “That’s why were here, if we far enough people to want to make it legal for the union of members if the same sex, we can take it to parliament and make it leave without their intervention,” I explained. “We’re in,” said the woman from before. “We also need a better term for people like us,” said another woman. “I completely agree, the one we have now is highly offensive,” replied. “Could we get you anything to drink?” Asked the same woman from before. “I’m afraid we can’t stay long, we have more troops to rally, but we look forward to working with all of you,” I said. “And by any chance doesn’t anyone know where the people like us in Bisosal?” I asked. “Male or female?” Someone asked. “Female,” I replied. “Yeah, I can tell you,” she replied again. “Thank you so much,” I said. I got the information I needed and we took off for Bisosal.
Tumblr media
We made it to the Bisosal bar and when we entered the same thing happened as the bar before that, they weren’t sure if we were one of them or not. We stood there in silence for a while, but Thomas didn’t say anything, so I leaned into whisper in his ear, “I think you should do it this time, it’s your kingdom.” He nodded. “Hi, we want to get married, but we obviously can’t do that because it is illegal and we need your help to fight for our rights.” He looked at me for assurance and I nodded for him to continue, “We need a lot of people on our side so we bring it to parliament and fight them on this, for the right to be ourselves and to not have to hide anymore.” “We’ll help you,” one mad said, a chatter broke out in agreement of all the patrons. “Thank you so much,” Thomas said. I turned to leave, but was interrupted by someone, “stay for a drink, have some fun.” “We have to go, but we will another time, I promise,” I said and we headed out.
“One more, you ready?” I asked Thomas as we got on Barnaby. “Yeah,” He smiles as we headed off.
We arrived, knocked on the door, and the slot opened up revealing eyes. “Password,” the woman said. I looked at Thomas, but he just looked at me back with an I don’t remember either look. “Crap, what did Simone say it was again?” I asked myself. “You know Simone?” The woman asked. “Yeah, She sent me here,” I told her. “Come on in,” She said, unlocking the door and letting us in. The same thing happened as it did in the last two bars. “Simone said you could help us,” I said. “Oh, well if Simone said it,” a brunette woman said. Thomas gabe the whole spiel and we stayed for a drink before heading back to Thomas’s castle.
We put barnaby back in his stable and walked back into the castle. As we were walking, Thomas grabbed my hand and intertwined his fingers with mine, I smiled. It was pretty late out and no one would be able to see us in the dark. We talked more strategy before arriving at my room. “Can I sleep with you for tonight?” Asked Thomas. “I suppose,” I replied as I got the sleep wear from the wardrobe. “We’re going to get married, might as get used to it,” he replied. I let out a light chuckle and smiled, before changing into my sleep wear. When I finished I handed Thomas a pair. As he removed his clothes, I folded them and placed them on top the dresser. I got under the cover and waited for him to do the same before blowing out the candle by my bed. “Goodnight Thomas,” I said. “Goodnight (Y/N).”

Otello, grey and unresolved / ENO - 13 September 2014 Opening Night
Otello, grey and unresolved / ENO – 13 September 2014 Opening Night
This season it is the 30th anniversary of David Alden’s association with English National Opera the products of his labour have been enjoyed in London for so long and with mixed reactions to make him always a safe bet for a thought provoking take on the old classics. His hand seems more sure and definitive when it tackles less mainstream repertoire and judging from this Otello that still holds…
