Anna Tifu

Anna Tifu, violinista classica e enfant prodige, è considerata una delle migliori interpreti della sua generazione.

Nata a Cagliari il 1° gennaio 1986 da padre rumeno e madre italiana, ha iniziato a studiare il violino a sei anni sotto la guida del padre e a suonare in pubblico a otto, vincendo il primo premio con Menzione Speciale di Merito alla Rassegna di Vittorio Veneto.

A undici anni ha debuttato come solista con l’Orchestra National des Pays de la Loire e l’anno dopo, alla Scala di Milano con il Concerto n.1 di Max Bruch. A quattordici anni ha vinto il Primo premio al Concorso Internazionale Viotti Valsesia e il  al Concorso Internazionale M.Abbado di Stresa. Appena quindicenne si è diplomata al Conservatorio di Cagliari con il massimo dei voti e la Menzione d’Onore.

Ha studiato con Salvatore Accardo all’Accademia Walter Stauffer di Cremona e successivamente all’Accademia Chigiana di Siena dove, nel 2004, ha ottenuto il Diploma d’Onore.

Nel 2007 ha vinto il Concorso Internazionale George Enescu.

A 17 anni è stata ammessa al Curtis Institute di Philadelphia dove ha studiato con Aaron Rosand, Shmuel Ashkenazy e Pamela Frank e successivamente si è perfezionata a Parigi dove ha ottenuto il diploma superiore di Concertista. Si è esibita con alcune tra le più prestigiose Orchestre Nazionali ed Internazionali.

Ha collaborato coi più importanti musicisti, Andrea Bocelli, nel 2011 l’ha invitata come solista ospite in numerosi concerti in Italia, Egitto e Stati Uniti. Ha tenuto concerti a rinomati festival e nei teatri più prestigiosi.

È stata testimonial della campagna pubblicitaria 2011 di Alitalia, assieme a Riccardo Muti, Giuseppe Tornatore e Eleonora Abbagnato.

Le è stato assegnato il Premio Donna 2020 Paul Harris Fellow dal Rotary Club Milano Sempione.

Suona il violino Antonio Stradivari “Marèchal Berthier” 1716 ex Napoleone della Fondazione Canale di Milano.

Peter Grimes, de Benjamin Britten, una din operele majore ale perioadei contemporane va fi interpretată în premieră la București, pe 15 septembrie, în versiune concertantă. Sub bagheta dirijorului britanic Paul Daniel, va evolua Orchestra Națională a Radiodifuziunii Române, alături de Corul Radio, dirijat de Ciprian Țuțu.

Spectacolul este încă o premieră de vizionat pe Scena Sălii Palatului, în cadrul Festivalului Internațional “George Enescu” și se va îmbina cu o poveste vizuală, imaginată de regizorul multimedia Carmen Lidia Vidu ca un film grafic.

“Am desenat cadru cu cadru tot filmul operei. Sunt cel puțin 500 de desene transformate în 500 de filme scurte pe care am să le redau în tempo-ul dirijorului Paul Daniel. Ba mai mult, am încercat să desenăm personajele în funcție de distribuția prezentă la Festivalul Enescu. Desenatoarea Gabi Skinder a depus o muncă titanică, iar Julien Javions este cel care a transformat desenele în film“, spune Carmen Lidia Vidu.

Distribuția include artiști lirici internaționali, rolul principal fiind interpretat de tenorul Ian Storey, una din vocile foarte respectate ale scenei internaționale pentru interpretările operelor wagneriene și apreciat pentru nuanțele deosebite pe care le aduce chiar rolului Peter Grimes.

La debut, Peter Grimes, opera semnată de Benjamin Britten a fost la fel de căutată sau chiar a depășit box-office-ul Madamei Butterfly și a Boemei,două opere foarte iubite, alături de care noua lucrare s-a aflat pe afiș în iunie 1945, la Londra. Pentru istoria operei britanice, Peter Grimes reprezintă o piatră de temelie, iar amatorii de clasamente o vor găsi cuprinsă în top-urile populare internaționale de genul “Cele mai bune 100 de opere din toate timpurile”. Totuși, pentru melomanii din România ocazia de a o asculta integral este una rară și se oferă în cadrul ediției 2019 a Festivalului Internațional George Enescu.

Cea care l-a inspirat și îndemnat pe Benjamin Britten să compună opera a fost povestea pescarului Peter Grimes, deși libretul final se îndepărtează de sursa sa de inspirație. Istoricii muzicali consemnează faptul că Britten a descoperit întâmplător, pe raftul unui anticariat, poemul The Borough al poetului britanic din secolul XVII, George Crabbe, în care acesta vorbește despre pescarul Grimes și viața sa într-un orășel pescăresc. Povestea i-a amintit lui Britten de Suffolk, orașul său natal și a dorit să transpună neapărat poemul în operă. Astfel, pescarul Grimes, o persoană aspră și nemiloasă, care este acuzat de uciderea propriilor ucenici, a ajuns un nume de referință în lumea muzicii.

În forma de libret, povestea originală capătă nuanțe. Pescarul Grimes este un personaj mai complex, dezvăluie în relația sa cu Ellen Orford, învățătoarea  din sat și alte fațete ale personalității sale. În primă instanță, Grimes este absolvit oficial de suspiciunea de a-și fi ucis unul dintre ucenici, găsit înecat pe coastele satului. Deși este sfătuit să nu își mai ia nici un ajutor, Grimes refuză, își alege un nou ucenic. Într-un moment de tensiune, o dispută cu angajatorul lui cel aspru și ursuz, ucenicul cade accidental de pe o stâncă și moare. Oamenii reacționează prompt și îl acuză din nou de crimă pe pescar. Pentru a scăpa de mânia comunității, Peter Grimes acceptă sugestia de a pleca în larg și de a se scufunda cu propria barcă. Față de original, în versiunea propusă de libretistul Montague Slater, vinovăția lui Grimes nu este așa de certă, iar publicul este invitat să își contureze opinia ca într-un veritabil policier. Britten consideră opera ca un simbol a luptei individului față de preconcepțiile societății “A subject very close to my heart—the struggle of the individual against the masses. The more vicious the society, the more vicious the individual.”

“Am crescut la Dunăre, printre pescari. Un mix de români și de sârbi. Eu copil, ei oameni ai apelor. Casele satului Gornea sunt lipite între ele. Noi eram perete-n perete cu birtul satului. Îmi amintesc câinii mari ai cârciumăresei, cele 2 fete “ușoare” de peste drum,  uciderea unui tânăr și multe altele pe care nu le pot povesti dar ele sunt în biografia mea și în opera Peter Grimes”, mărturisește Carmen Lidia Vidu despre relația personală stabilită cu lucrarea.

Compoziția lui Britten este densă, masivă, implică secvențe corale impresionante, roluri intense, momente tensionate, dramatice și alteori, în contrapunct, umor și tușe frivole. Orchestra preia pasaje întregi, conducând auditoriul prin subiect.

Publicul Festivalului a avut deja ocazia de a audia parte din aceste fragmente în concertul London Symphony Orchestra din această ediție a festivalului. Orchestra britanică a interpretat “Patru interludii marine și Passacaglia”- un grupaj din cele șase interludii orchestrale din Peter Grimes, unde marea este martorul dramei personajului principal și este oglinda stărilor lui, în același timp rămânând, dincolo de poveștile individuale, impasibilă, constantă.

O scurtă istorie a Festivalului George Enescu

The “George Enescu” Festival is the biggest classical music festival in Romania and one of the most prestigious events of this sort in the world. It is dedicated to the great composer and violinist George Enescu, the most notable Romanian musician, in Bucharest’s famous concert halls. The festival made its debut in September 1958, three years after the artist’s death, and continued more or less regularly until 2001, when it was decided that the editions should be held once every two years. Throughout time, the stages of the festival vibrated to the tunes of the most famous orchestras in the world. The philharmonics of Los Angeles, Moscow, London, Vienna or the Royal Orchestra in Stockholm, symphonic and chamber orchestras all over the world gave unique representations, enchanting the melomaniacs. Thousands of artists of incontestable value, composers, conductors, soloists and instrumentalists all together have turned the “George Enescu” Festival into a complex and extremely varied event, a genuine celebration of music. PSA: summer update!

hi hi! just a quick update for you as we approach the time of year where my muse for anica, more often than not, comes back with a vengeance! with her nameday next week and my 30th birthday bash @ bucurești coinciding with my long-awaited seat for the george enescu festival...can you tell i’m excited. i’m picking my dress for my night at the opera right now!

you’ll all get updates from that and the trip as a whole! i’m also going to retrace the last steps of the ceaușescus, visit the zărnești bear sanctuary, and go on more than one food tour. i’m also taking a fuckton of bubblewrap to start buying plates for when i buy my own place next year..!

anywho! i have a few ideas i’d like to write for anica and some small project ideas i’ll be using to get me through the peak season at work. musing on this silly old lady and her wistful, whimsical fancies have been a welcome distraction. i’d love to share more of what i have rocking about in my head with you all, as well! it took me a while to re-frame this community in a positive light after the pandemic - that was no one’s fault but my own and i don’t want anyone to think they drove me away - but i think i’m getting there now. now, i just want to use this as a creative outlet and as a means to share this passion project of mine. i invite you all to join me or just to watch along as you please.

i’d like to work on serghei more, as well! i do not need to go into detail as to why i was very reluctant to engage with md content on here as of late, but all the while his character is also maturing and moving past him just being a pathetic little man. don’t worry, he always will be Awful! but i also love him very much and would like to flesh out his character as well! anica will always be queen in my head and the main reason why i’m extremely reluctant to pick up more muses, but serghei is due some time in the sun, too. 

i have plots in mind for both of them which i’d love to write over the course of this summer/going into autumn! i’m also getting back to revising my romanian notes, and all of those will undoubtedly keep me from straying too far away from my dashboard. again, you’re all more than welcome to play along or engage however you see fit!

so that’s where i am. i’m in a good place, and anica’s power as a muse plays a big part in that. i hope you all enjoy my future outputs and are doing well <3

      ~ The Romanian Ateneo (Romanian: Ateneul Român) is a concert hall in the centre of Bucharest, a reference point of the Romanian capital. Inaugurated in 1888, the circular building is the main concert hall of the city and headquarters of the Philharmonic "George Enescu" and the annual George Enescu international music festival. Story in 1865, cultural and scientific personalities such as Constantin Esarcu, V.A. Urechia and Nicolae Cre țulescu founded the Romanian Cultural Society. In order to serve its purposes, the Romanian Atheneus, a building dedicated to art and science, it would have been erected in Bucharest.The building was designed by French architect Albert Galleron, built on a property belonging to the Văcărescu family and inaugurated in 1888, although the work continued until 1897. A part of the construction funds was raised through public donations, with a slogan that is still remembered today: "Donate a leu for the Ateneu!" "On December 29, 1919, Athens was the host of the conference of Romanian leaders who voted to ratify the Unification of Bessarabia, Transylvania and Bucovina with the Old Kingdom of Romania to constitute the Great Romania. Extensive reconstruction and restoration works were carried out in 1992 by a Romanian construction company and restoration painter Silviu Petrescu, who saved the building from collapse. The 9 million euros requested have been given in equal parts by the government and the Development Bank of the European Council. Style is neoclassical, with some more romantic touches. In front of the building you can find a small park and a statue of the Romanian poet Mihai Eminescu. Inside, the ground floor hosts a conference room as big as the upstairs auditorium. A 75m2 and 3m wide fresco of Costin Petrescu decorates the interior of the circular wall of the concert hall. Painted with the Afresco technique, the piece depicts the most important moments in Romanian history, starting with the conquest of Dacia by the Roman emperor Traiano until the realisation of Great Romania in 1918.Recognized as a symbol of Romanian culture, the building was listed in 2007 in the list of sites with the European Heritage Mark. ~

DON'T TAKE THEM FOR GRANTED

British actor Benedict Cumberbatch is the voice of an art installation dedicated to Romanian doctors fighting the COVID-19 pandemic

Don’t Take Them for Granted, an art installation dedicated to medical staff and all those in the pandemic’s front line, will be exhibited for two weeks in Bucharest’s George Enescu Square.

The project is a collaboration between Romanian photographer Cristian Movila, Swiss artist Capucine Gros, and British actor Benedict Cumberbatch, famous for his roles in the TV series Sherlock and the Marvel block buster movie Dr. Strange. The installation was first presented online at the UNFINISHED festival.

The project is a collective call to recognize the labor of this global pandemic’s frontline workers and, most specifically, the Romanian healthcare staff, otherwise invisible in the public space.

“In a social context that has a very hierarchical view of the medical world, Don’t Take Them for Granted focuses especially on the enormous routine effort hidden under the layers of our medical system. Too often eclipsed behind the doctors is an army of labor-intensive work (nurses, porters, assistants, cleaners, interns, technicians, clerks, couriers, guards…) who, in this time of violent need, deserve much more than being taken for granted,” the artists said...

As a lifelong ICU nurse, this was such a great thing to see and especially to hear. BC’s magical voice at it’s finest. But it shouldn’t take a pandemic for people to be reminded that this is an ongoing 24/7/365 kind of thing. Nurses, doctors, respiratory therapists, and all the many, many essentials needed to run a medical facility; are ALL heroes everyday. This type of care occurs every day, everywhere. So please, ‘don’t take them for granted’. Such a nice message to remember.
