Note
Noting that I went to a catholic high school in the midwestern US, I would say that between 30-40% of my classmates followed a life path similar to the following (so not even half, but still a significant amount):
1) Age 18-21: start dating someone in uni
2) Age 22/23: get a job shortly after graduation (or have one already organized, probably from a summer internship while in uni)
3) Age 22-24: get engaged to your uni bf/gf within a year of graduating, once you both have jobs basically
4) Age 23-26: wedding within a year or two of getting engaged, also buy a house if you have that kind of money lol
5) 9 months to 1 year after wedding (so 24-26 generally): baby!
I think it's important to note that this culture is able to continue because many college-educated young USAmericans are able to get a decent job very soon after graduating, which speeds up the rest of the process quite a bit. For people who are not able to get a job quickly, or who choose to do further studies, add on a few years. (And for people who don't go to uni, subtract a few!)
yeah i was gonna say, the only thing i envy of that is the getting a job so early and easy lol. i think that's also the main difference or why people aren't married so early here. in my experience (note that i went to a private upper class school so almost everyone went to university and pretty much everyone is employed right now except me lol)
1) 18-23. uni. a bunch of them were dating before uni, others during, some after, you know how it goes. and also a lot of them didn't date (like me).
2) 23-25. finishing uni, doing a master's degree, and or living abroad (usually to work).
3) 25-26. come back to spain and work here, or finished studying and got a job. they start dating seriously.
4) 26-28. if they've been dating for a while, engagement. if not, they continue the grind. if they live abroad especially which is honestly more than half of my circle rn they won't want to get engaged until they come back or decide to stay in the other country (normally their partner is from there).
5) 28-30. this is the future for me so i'm just speculating, but here is marriage + baby for those who can afford it. keep in mind most of us this age are still living with our parents so. that's another thing to have in mind.
more or less that's the idea here. you first want to have a stable job, then a stable house, and then you can start thinking about proposing and weddings and kids. and that doesn't happen soon.
#ask#thanks for the comparision!!!! i think it's a very good indicator of how life works in the USA :) i knew that stuff is done earlier and tha#people tend to have jobs earlier and stuff but seeing it like this made everything much more clear#just as an example in my high school friend group (we are all 26-27)#one friend lived in germany for like 5 years working there after uni. got back to spain last year. started living together with her bf#of like 6-7 years??? (they've been together since forever lol) earlier this year#and now that she's got a stable job and a place to stay has been starting to talk about marriage#another one has been living in the netherlands for the past 7 years first to study there and now to work#also his gf is dutch so. he'll probably stay there#his gf is still studying medicine so i imagine until she finishes they won't even think about marriage#also they are only gonna live together starting this june so that's that lol#then there's this other friend who took longer finishing her bachelor's and master's degree and started working full-time this year#while still having to finish her master's dissertation#she does have a bf (they have been together for 2 years i think?) but she literally doesn't have even time to think about marriage lol#let alone living together with him she lives with her parents#and finally my best friend is doing a master's degree and looking for jobs in the interim. no luck for now but hopefully he'll get one afte#the master which is quite specialized (he's a computer engineering btw. if he can't find a job imagine how fucked the job market is)#and he doesn't even have a gf nor plans to i think? he's focused on getting a job first#and people i know that aren't in this friend group that i talk to from time to time are in pretty similar situations#the ones who lived with their partners are notable outliers#and there's like. 2 people (that i'm aware of) from my high school that married? again they're the exception#so yeah

I've decided Tumblr can be helpful and thank you to everyone who replied to my previous post with helpful advice and comforting words. Unfortunately I don't think convincing my parents is in the cards. But they've been discouraging me from checking out unis in foreign countries.
I really really wanna study in Germany. I don't have any particular reason for this, I just really want to.
Can y'all tell me all about that international student life and about Germany's lifestyles and education systems just so I know what I'm getting into? Thank you so much

What Is the Bachelor Degree Duration in Germany?
Tumblr media
Germany is renowned for its world-class education system, attracting students from around the globe. If you're considering pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Germany, one of the crucial factors to understand is the duration of undergraduate programs. In this blog post, we'll delve into the details of how long it takes to complete a bachelors in germany.
Standard Bachelor's Degree Duration
In Germany, a typical Bachelor's degree program usually has a standard duration of three years (or six semesters). This timeframe applies to most undergraduate programs, including those in humanities, social sciences, natural sciences, and engineering.
Variations in duration
While the standard duration is three years, there can be variations based on several factors:
Program Type: Some programs, particularly in fields like engineering and natural sciences, may have a longer duration, typically three and a half to four years. This extended duration allows for more in-depth coursework and practical experience.
Cooperative Education: Certain Bachelor's programs, known as cooperative education or duales Studium, integrate periods of work experience with academic study. These programs often take longer to complete, typically between three and a half to four years.
Part-Time Studies: For students who choose to study part-time while working or for other reasons, the duration can be more flexible, and completion may take longer than the standard timeframe.
Accelerated Programs
On the other end of the spectrum, some universities offer accelerated Bachelor's programs that allow students to complete their degree in a shorter time. These fast-track programs often require students to take on a more intensive course load or may recognize previous coursework, such as Advanced Placement (AP) credits, to shorten the duration.
Factors Affecting Duration
Several factors can influence the duration of your Bachelor's degree in Germany:
Program Requirements: Your chosen program's specific requirements and curriculum can impact how long it takes to complete your degree.
Credit Transfer: If you have previous college or university credits, you may be able to transfer them, reducing the duration of your program.
Language Proficiency: If you need to improve your language skills, particularly in German, it might extend the duration as you may need to complete language courses before your regular academic coursework.
Internships and Practical Experience: Programs that include internships or practical experience components can have a longer duration due to the time spent in real-world work settings.

Conclusion
In conclusion, the Bachelor's degree duration in Germany typically spans three years, but variations exist depending on the program type, cooperative education, and part-time options. It's essential to research your specific program and university to understand the exact duration and any factors that may affect it. Germany's flexible education system provides opportunities for students to tailor their study in Germany journey while benefitting from a high-quality education.

Hot For Teacher!
—professor!simon riley teaching anatomy… MDNI
(DISCLAIMER: in this fic, the reader is getting their master's, so reader is an adult! that said, this is still a student-professor relationship, so beware!)
Tumblr media
"I heard he was from Germany….or somewhere."
"He's probably sooo old."
"I can't find his rate my professor anywhere!"
"I heard he only has one leg!"
Murmurs can be heard spread around the room; your fellow graduates flooded the lecture hall seats, not an empty seat out of fifty in site. They were itching with anticipation and anxiously awaiting the arrival of your new gross anatomy professor, including yourself.
You were even more nervous than when you had to present your senior thesis for your bachelor's to four of the most knowledgeable, bright minds you had ever come into contact with.
That was intimidating, but this somehow feels worse. You find yourself sinking into the squeaky plastic chair, praying that whoever walks through that door is as gracious and kind as your last professor.
Heavy steps echoed down the hallway, slowly and steadily etching closer and closer to the room you sat in. Your eyes nervously shifted up to look at the wide open front door, and you tapped your foot, restlessly, to a non-existent beat in your head.
The footsteps became louder and louder until the man finally stood in the doorway, sparing the class not even a singular glance. He steadily turned to the right and walked up to the chalkboard, back towards the class, carefully etching something onto the board with a small piece of chalk.
The murmurs around the room seized as the screeching noise of the chalk against the board bounced off the walls and went straight into everyone's eardrums.
It was a quick, illegible scribble.
He set the piece of chalk down and turned to face the class, eyes roaming around the room, allowing you to get a better look at him.
He wore a black surgical mask just below his nose, covering his lips and jaw. And, God, was he tall. He had to be at least six-two, maybe even six-four. He wore a charcoal gray button-up tight enough to display his broad shoulders and buff biceps, with kaki cargo pants that did nothing to hide his thick thighs.
Fuck, he was hot.
"Your last professor was quite lenient," his gravelly voice echoes around the room as he begins, leaning his hip on the table before him. "Don't expect that from me."
His eyes roamed some more, and the murmurs you heard about how hot he was seized as he spoke again. "If you think this class will be easy, you're sorely mistaken. Excellence is the bare minimum I expect from each of you," he sternly says. "I don't tolerate excuses. You're in the wrong place if you can't meet the deadlines."
You didn't know the first time meeting your professor would just end up with him lecturing you about his obscure conditions and rules like this was a damn military base.
You try to remember if this course was even required for your degree: it is.
"If you miss class, don't bother returning," he continues. The mood in the room had shifted entirely. There was no excitement left; it had been completely sucked out and replaced by regret and anguish. You swore you even saw some people with their computers quickly going to your university's directory, hoping they could still withdraw from a course.
"Lastly, mediocrity has no place in here. Push yourselves or find another course," he gruffed, pushing himself off the desk he leaned on and maneuvering back over to the chalkboard.
"What are the instructions on the board?" Your eyes snapped to a random girl raising her hand adjacent to you, and you were surprised by her bravery in speaking.
The professor glanced at the girl.
“Ah, yes. These are instructions on how to withdraw from this course if you so choose," he said. "Save me the headache and you, your dignity, and withdraw now if you cannot abide by my terms," he almost seemed disinterested. "Also, you will call me Dr. Riley."
He picked up the chalk, quickly etching a strand of words onto it. "These are my office hours," he says, setting the chalk back down. "Any questions?" He asked, turning to face the class.
Not a single peep can be heard. There was only a tiny squeak from one of the chairs. He crosses his arms. "Alright. Quiz tomorrow. Class dismissed," he concludes. You freeze up in your chair as everyone around you starts moving as quickly as possible to get out of there.
You're wondering what you learned today that could be material for a quiz. Instead of waiting behind to ask, you shuffle your things in a bag and speed walk out of there.
This was going to be a long semester.
Tumblr media
It was three months in, and this class was kicking your ass.
No, that's not right. The class was outwardly blistering your entire existence. You pulled countless all-nighters to try and keep up with the material, but it was too much. There weren't enough hours in the day to study the copious amount of material.
It didn't help that Dr. Riley was a bit of a dick. He gave no leniency. Can't make the exam? Too bad. F. Didn't make class? Yikes. Get ready to recite the last lecture in front of the class when you return! Can't answer a question he asks? Well, well, it looks like we have a slacker on our hands. Have a lovely time writing an entire essay on the topic question you failed to answer!
"Can anyone explain the process of bone repair following a fracture?" Dr. Riley questions, taking his eyes off the chalkboard and turning towards the now half-full class. You snap out of your daydream, carefully looking back to your computer to continue typing what he writes.
Everyone averts their eyes from him to avoid getting called on. "No takers?" He asks once more, eyes narrowing slightly. You look over the top of your computer, eyes wondering over the messy array of notes he wrote to try and decipher them. "You," he says, flicking a finger towards you. "Give it a go."
Your eyes flick to his before widening in horror. Shit. You hadn't even gone over this week's slides because you were still working on the hundreds of slides from last week.
"Preferably today," he raises a brow, impatience written all over his face, crossing his arm over his chest. You take a deep breath, quickly scan your notes, and sublimely thank God you found what you needed.
"Well, first the bone goes through clot formation, then callus formation, then new bone tissue forms, then finally the bone remodels," you explain, issuing a polite smile after you finish, breathing out a sigh of relief as he nods.
"Uh-huh. It's a very interesting process. And do you know which of those processes has the longest duration?" He says blandly. You tilt your head a little, surprised to see he has another question.
"Well, I think that would be the bone remodeling," you affirm, shifting in your seat a little.
"And the shortest?" He quickly supplements.
"Clot formation?" You say unsurely.
"You seem unsure of your answer. Do you truly think it is clot formation?" He crosses his arms over his chest.
You were sure of it, but then again, why would he ask you if you thought it was wrong if it was right? You open your eyes wider, almost like you have just had an epiphany. "I—no. It's callus formation," you say matter-of-factly.
"Incorrect," he says, uncrossing his arms and turning his back to you. "I suggest trusting your instincts next time." You sink deeper into your chair, hoping that somehow it will shield you from his scrutiny.
"On that note, class dismissed." You quickly gather your belongings, but not before Dr. Riley pulls you aside to assign you a three-page, single-spaced essay about the formation of a bone after having a fracture due in two days.
"Also, be sure to discuss clot formation heavily," his voice carries a condescending tone. "So that when you present to the class, they understand the concept better than you did."
Your brows furrow a little. "Wait, I do understand—" You begin, though he interrupts.
"That's all," he cooly says, turning to grab his things from the desk in the front before switching the light switch off and stepping around you to leave the room. "See you and your paper Wednesday." You scowled as he turned away from you to go to his office.
This was such bullshit. You answered all his question, but God forbid you answer one incorrectly—well, not even incorrectly; he just made you feel it was wrong.
This was far from over.
Tumblr media
"Dr. Riley. I, um, I don't understand why I have to write an essay," you found yourself saying later that day in his office, around six p.m. or so, when most of the faculty had already called it a night and left. His eyes stayed laser-focused on some papers he was going over.
"You didn't answer my question," he says, scribbling something on the paper.
You find yourself coming in, shutting the door behind you, and sitting on the chair before his desk. "Yes, I did. I answered all one hundred of them," you say matter-of-factly. The corners of his eyes crinkle as they finally flick to yours, clearly amused by your exaggeration.
"One hundred, huh?" He sets the pen down, leaning back in his chair, threading his fingers together. Your eyes wander to his arms. He had rolled up his sleeves to reveal his veiny forearms covered in tattoos.
You flick your eyes back to eyes in a panic, praying he didn't notice you essentially checking him out. "Yes, sir," you tried to keep your voice even.
"So, you want out of an essay I assigned to you?
"I—well. I was hoping…" You trail off, eyes averting his.
"No," his tone is authoritative, final. You release a small breath, sagging into the chair, feeling defeated. However, you caught your eyes wandering back to his forearms before moving up to his biceps. Fuck. They would have busted out of his button-down if they were any bigger.
He was a massive asshole. But, so fucking hot nonetheless. Had the most enormous thighs and arms you'd ever seen. Taller than anyone you'd ever met. Had a gruff, thick English accent you drooled over. Not to mention his raging ego, which did something for you.
"What is it?" Your eyes snap to his. Oh, God. Not again.
"Nothing," you said quickly. He looked puzzled. You sat back in the chair, smiling awkwardly. He followed, leaning back in his seat and spreading his legs wider to get more comfortable.
You find your eyes drifting down, observing his clothed cock in his pants. "Nothing? Huh?" The corner of his lip quirks. You stare back at him; your face is hot, and your hands are clammy.
This time, there was no denying what it was you were ogling so intently.
"Listen," he sits up a bit, placing his elbows on his desk and threading his fingers together. "I sympathize with your situation." You raise a brow because there is no way in hell he was sympathetic. His lip quips at your expression. "So, I believe I have a solution to your dilemma." That has you perking up in your seat, feeling a sense of hope.
"It's a bit...unorthodox," he mumbles, eyes boring into yours.
You squint your eyes in confusion. "Okay..." You trail off uneasily, sitting up a little straighter. "What did you have in mind?" He tilts his head up a little, carefully observing your face, before standing up and gripping the knot of the tie and carefully pulling it down so it rests lazily on his sternum.
"Tell me," he prompts, easing his way around his desk to lean against the side you sit in front of. "What is it that caught your attention earlier?" You raise a brow, not only at his new position but also at his question.
"Pardon?" You prod. He lets out a small, scruffy, breathy laugh, crossing his arms over his chest and showcasing his huge biceps again. You release a slight breath as your eyes wander back to his arms. He tilts his head back as he examines your facial expression, dragging his eyes down your line of sight. He gives a breathy laugh as he realizes you are shamelessly checking him out.
"Mhm," he hums. You snap your eyes to him in an instant, though this time you aren't embarrassed at the notion of him catching you. No. You wanted him to notice. Maybe, just maybe, then he'd finally find the courage to fuck you over his desk like you'd wanted since the first day he had arrived. "Your mind seems elsewhere," he observes.
"No, I'm—I'm just thinking," you whir, sitting in your chair.
He tilts his head back slightly. "What about?" His tone dripped with condescendence. He most definitely knew. He could read you like one of those fancy anatomy books he frequented. You lean back in your chair, legs spreading ever so slightly. His eyes glided to leer at your slightly agape legs.
God, you had on that little fucking skirt you wore every so often. The damned thing was a couple of pieces of denim fabric. Not too short, but, ya, if you opened your legs at just the right angle, you could get a nice shot of your panties underneath. How lucky for your professor, who was at the receiving end of that.
"Oh, I don't know. Just things, you know?" You spread your legs just a little wider, and you swear you hear him release a breath. "It's the first day of fall tomorrow. Did you know that?" You casually say, spreading your legs that much further so he could get a better view of the wet spot already growing in your panties at him watching you.
"I did." His voice was dry; he was surprised to get a damn word out.
"Crazy, huh? Also, I'm thinking about our lecture tomorrow. What's it going to be on anyway?" You find yourself dragging your hand up your leg to the buttons of your shirt, carefully unclasping each of them gently. He could feel his cock straining against his jeans seeing you, legs spread, fingers fiddling with your cute little button-up top with frilly sleeves.
"Sexual reproduction," he gruffs, fingers moving to undo the buttons on his shirt. You get the final button of your shirt unclasped, carefully sliding it off and onto the floor, revealing a lacy bra that matches your panties. You honestly thought you'd be more nervous, but with a guy that hot and educated staring at you like you were the sexiest thing alive, how could you be?
"Maybe I should get a head-start, no?" You proposed as he unclasped his final button, slipping his shirt entirely off. Good-God. The man was chiseled and hairy. The scars etched into his skin only made him that much sexier. He reached for his tie next. "No, no. Leave it on," you voice, getting up from your chair to stand before him.
His greedy hands instantly sought refuge on your waist, dragging his fingertips along the waistband of your panties, giving them a little pull. You release a slight whine as the elastic slaps back onto your skin.
"Like fuckin' music to my ears," he groans, pulling you flush to his body, ripping his mask off to encapsulate your lips with his hungry ones.
You yelp into his mouth at the sudden sensation, though you find yourself getting into a rough rhythm. His hand's paw at your ass as yours covetously grips his shoulders. Although you were flush against him, you sought more contact. "I need—I need," you whined in his mouth.
"Need me to what? Say it," he urged, hands slipping to thread through your hair, pulling it gently. Your mouth falls agape at the action, allowing him to slip his tongue in your mouth. You moan into his mouth once more.
"I need you to—to," you stutter, unable to speak from how out of breathe you were.
"Say it," he hissed, pulling your hair harder.
"Fuck me. Please," you finally managed to say. He wasted no time picking you up by the back of the thighs and hastily placing you on his desk, flinging the loose papers and books that dawned it on the floor.
You reached between you to undo his belt and pant button as he slipped your panties down so they dangled loosely around your ankles.
Your lips never disconnecting once.
Once you got his pants undown and he your panties, he gripped your waist, hoisting you so he could pound his cock into you. You both moan at the contact, gripping each other tighter.
"Fuck," he groans, "Feel so good." You press your lips back to his as he makes work pummeling into you, his hands digging into the flesh of your hips to get as much friction as he can.
You were sure you'd have purple and blue bruises tomorrow.
He brings his mouth to nip and kiss at the side of your neck, his teeth gently grazing against the sensitive skin. "Drivin' me fuckin' insane," he grits, teeth nipping your skin again. You whined, bringing your hands to thread through his hair.
"I drive you insane?" You breathe out, dumbfounded, his cock still sliding in and out of you at a hurried pace. His tongue brushes your neck until it reaches your lips, quickly bullying itself into the sanctity of your mouth.
"Such a good student. Aren't you?" He gruffs into your lips; your mouth hangs agape at the feeling of him in you. "Always do such good work. Don't you, sweetheart?" You moan at his words; he presses a thumb to stimulate your clit. "Fuck—you, you drive me mad," he grits, moving his thumb faster.
You let a string of incoherent words, too caught up with his cock in you and thumb on you to form any real words.
"Huh? Ya, ya. But you must know that already. Or else you wouldn't have worn this—" he signals to the matching bra and panty set you had worn, "to meet with me," he finishes. You respond with another pathetic whimper, feeling your impending climax.
The moment he whispers into the shell of your ear, "Better come quick, or I may change my mind about that paper," you're a goner. You clamp around him at record speed, gripping his shoulders impossibly tighter, as you loudly moan in his mouth. His fingers dig deeper into the fat of your hips as his orgasm chases yours.
It takes both of you a second to catch your breaths, both heaving and chests rising with much pace. After you have caught your breath, he helps ease you off his desk, deftly reaching for your panties that slipped off your ankles in a frenzy and softly putting them back on you, followed by your skirt resting on the floor nearby.
You slipped your shirt back on, buttoning it as he focused on dressing himself. It didn't feel awkward like you had thought it was going to. Sure, it was quiet, but it was comforting.
You grabbed your bookbag, giving him a slight smile as you walked over to the closed door. "I appreciate you meeting with me. See you tomorrow, Dr. Riley," you kindly say.
He nodded, pulling his tie to rest neatly on his neck. "Don't forget about the paper," he plainly said, moving to pick up some of the loose papers on the floor.
A confused expression overtook your face. "I thought—" you began.
"I don't play favorites, sweetheart," he interrupted. "Write the paper."
Okay, he was still a dick, but oh well, sure, you'd write the damn paper, maybe even put a couple of errors in it so that he could deduct some points off, and you could request to meet with him again.
Ya, that sounded like a fine plan indeed.

Alfonso canonically has the equivalent of like a 9th grade education by Corriente (people who don't know about the supernatural) standards. He knows a lot about monsters, ritual magic, the use and technical function of "obsolete" pre-electronic technology, foreign language, and battle strategy against supernatural enemies, but he knows fuckall about basically everything else.
His only experience with computers is the bare minimum of using booking software at hotels when he's working his secret identity jobs. He saw MySpace once in 2006 and thought it was the most confusing thing in the world.
Modern pop culture (from 2007-2009, when Alfonso's story takes place) is a mystery to him too. He might read modern books (as confusing as they are) but TV and any post-vinyl era music are like legends from another world to him. This is why the Fall Out Boy band T-Shirt he got from a Corriente is like a mystical artifact to him. He's seen a few movies in cinemas, and can't believe that it's normal for Corrientes to have watched hundreds of movies in their life.
Now and then his fiance will just answer questions for him because he learned about a job or a field of study from the outside world because it was mentioned briefly in a book. It's a cute bonding activity for them. He'll just be like "ok so what does an IT worker do" and they'll talk for hours about mundane things that are fascinating to him.
Contrast this with Crow, who's from the Wasteland but integrated into society. Danny taught him what a credit score was. He understood the concept quickly and it just pissed him off. He found out about property deeds and titles and thought it was the stupidest shit ever. From his point of view, land belongs to whoever fights for it the hardest. The idea that you can buy land with money instead of sweat and blood pissed him off and the fact that a government body needs to agree that you own something to actually own it made him want to kill a motherfucker and the fact that you can't kill the abstract concept of title recording made him absolutely furious.
Jäger has an actual high school diploma accredited by the Connecticut state board of education + an actual bachelor's degree in Political Science with an emphasis on foreign policy, plus a crash-course version of Alfonso's education in the supernatural and pre-electronic technology. He's way more in touch with modern society and informed, and he takes advantage to cooperate with institutions in the Corriente world while maintaining some secrecy. He knows the ins and outs of international law, but he mostly uses it to exploit gaps and loopholes to disobey the law, fabricate identities, cross borders with unregistered weapons, and continue the hunt regardless of where it takes him. He's very aware of the intricacies of modern (1963 to him) society and politics, but he doesn't have much of an opinion on any of it. He sees the politics of the normal world more like a force of nature that he has to adapt to, rather than something he has a stake in. His point of view was formed by having to grow up sneaking in and out of Germany during Nazi rule and WWII, the wild political swings of German politics during the East/West Germany split, and living in three different countries all going through wild political turmoil by the time he was 21. Being a participant in a secret, supernatural war while Corrientes were fighting their own war made him disconnect any personal stake he had in political and national identity. He simply believes that things are constantly changing and there's nothing you can do to stop them from changing, you can only adapt and follow your own purpose with or without cooperation from the outside world. Staying informed is only valuable as a strategic move to learn when and how you must break the rules. Werewolves think the same way, and he kind of admires them for it despite being their enemy.

A Cry from Gaza: Save Our Lives Before It's Too Late
I am Belal Abed from Gaza – a man whose future once shone bright with hope and promises. With a Bachelor's degree in Software Engineering, I dreamed of pursuing further studies and obtaining a Master's degree in Germany, envisioning a life that would uplift my family and community. But the harshness of war tore that dream apart, leaving nothing but despair behind.
Our home, which was once a haven of hope, was mercilessly destroyed by the ongoing conflict. For over a year now, we have been wandering like displaced souls, forced to live in torn, temporary tents that offer only minimal protection from the scorching summer heat or the biting cold of winter nights. Every day, I witness scenes that shatter my heart, as my children – whose eyes reflect a sadness far beyond their years – suffer from the pain of hunger and the agony of thirst. The scant resources we once possessed have evaporated, leaving us clinging only to memories of a life that now seems so distant.

This is our home after the war and destruction

I before the war: Who I was and what I aspired to be
Before the war, I was a young man full of dreams and ambitions, working hard to carve out a bright future for myself and my family, building hopes without limits.
Tumblr media
Now, I live in a tent that lacks even the barest of defenses
Tumblr media
This is the state of our children: before the war and after
Before the war, our children’s eyes shone with innocence and joy, dreaming of a bright future like all of us.

Our cooking situation
Tumblr media
In the quiet hours of the night, sorrow overwhelms me as I weep not only for the loss of our home but also for the future that was cruelly snatched away from us. I beg you, from the depths of my shattered heart, to extend a hand of compassion and support to us. Even the smallest act of kindness can illuminate our darkest moments and offer a fragile glimmer of hope in the face of despair.
I implore you, if at all possible, not to let my family and our innocent children continue to suffer. Every donation is a beacon of hope – a step towards reclaiming our dignity and building a future, however broken, that still carries the promise of healing and renewal.

Day 21: Cross-over
Spatort/Polizeiruf Świecko: Finding Adam Raczek
Tumblr media
(Adam Raczek portrayed by Lucas Gregorowicz)
I've said it before and I'll say it again: I live and die on the hill of a Spatort / Polizeiruf 110 Crossover!
Some of you may have noticed a reappearing side character in Spatort fanworks: Vincent Ross from Polizeiruf 110 (like Tatort, it's a German crime TV-series with regional teams. When there were two Germanys (West and East, before 1990) it was roundabout the GDR's version of Tatort)).
Tumblr media
(Vincent Ross, portrayed by André Kaczmarczyk)
For those of you unfamiliar with the origins of this crossover… well, I actually don’t know who came up with it either. But I can definitely see how and why the idea came about.
In Vincent’s debut episode, we learn that he’s just moved from Berlin to Słubice. Throughout the episode, there’s a recurring joke about him needing to return the moving van to Berlin, but the case keeps getting in the way. This move comes right after he’s completed his training to become a criminal investigator.
Sound familiar? Someone else also moved from Berlin to take up work as a criminal investigator...
Vincent is undeniably queer-coded, although he hasn’t had a formal coming-out moment in the series. That said, his character was introduced as the first genderfluid detective in the show. He often wears makeup, nail polish, and even a skirt in his debut episode.
Tumblr media
Vincent has a Bachelor's degree in psychology and is a deeply empathetic character, presenting a sharp contrast to the station’s established detective, Adam Raczek.
Although Adam is initially skeptical and grumpy, Vincent approaches him with patience, eventually helping him open up. This dynamic was an intentional choice by the creators: Vincent was meant to act as a catalyst for Adam, helping him discover an emotional outlet - albeit, maybe, an overwhelming one - that forces Adam to confront some serious questions about himself. (Polizeiruf: Bi Panic)
And who else, if I may ask you, is a perpetually grumpy dumdum with an emotional valve firmly stuck, but somehow found the courage to return to his childhood best friend (and probable love interest) and his home?
I have to admit, for me, nothing sums it up as good as this amazing fan video by @zaubertrankkessel (which got me hooked on the cross-over in the first place):
youtube
The idea, naturally, is this: while living in Berlin, Vincent Ross and Adam Schürk clearly shared a flat. Vincent used his psychology expertise to help Adam process his feelings about his family and Leo, while Adam supported Vincent in his decision to pursue a career in law enforcement.
This brings me to my point: I need a Polizeiruf: Świecko / Spatort crossover.
But(!)
Specifically, I need a Finding-Adam-Raczek crossover!
You see, the first image in this post is actually the last shot we got of Adam Raczek in Polizeiruf 110. Adam has a lot of issues to deal with, especially his pill addiction (which even leads him to attack Vincent in their first episode together). His final episode ends with Vincent searching for him. He returns to Adam’s empty hotel room, where his pistol and badge have been left behind in a large envelope. Adam has taken off on his beloved motorbike, and from a remark made by one of his close coworkers in the next episode (Marian: "Where is Adam?!"), it seems no one knows where he went.
So, I want the Spatort-Team to help Vincent find Adam.
I want Vincent to discover a clue in an abandoned building.
Tumblr media
I want Vincent to uncover more clues that tie into a criminal gang the Saarbrücken team dealt with a while ago - along with tire tracks that suspiciously resemble those from Adam’s motorbike.
I want Vincent to call Adam Schürk for help.
Maybe Adam goes rogue again, digging into the information Vincent shares with him.
Tumblr media
But this time, Adam decides to tell the squad. Cue a crisis meeting where they revisit an old case - one their higher-ups would probably prefer to leave buried.
Tumblr media
Of course, Vincent will eventually travel to Saarbrücken. When the team finally meets him, they’ll fall for him and his warm personality. Let’s face it - no one can truly resist Vincent.
However, Leo will also have to grapple with some feelings. Learning that Adam had a flatmate for years raises questions for him... Was there ever something more going on between them? And why, if Vincent is a psychologist and clearly someone Adam could confide in, did Adam never open up to him? Why didn’t he reach out to Leo? Why is all of this still so hard for him to this day?
It’s a painful realization for Leo.
Tumblr media
But eventually, Leo understands that Vincent isn’t a threat. In fact, Vincent has his own unresolved feelings for someone he’s searching for - someone he cares about deeply. He misses Adam Raczek more than he should miss any colleague.
Rest assured, Pia and Esther had all of this figured out ages ago. In this case, they’ll have the rare opportunity to handle not just one, but two pairs of mutually pining idiots - assuming they find Adam Raczek, of course.
Tumblr media
Which they will, of course.
There will be a stand-off. Running, shouting. Action and gun pointing.
Tumblr media
But they will find Adam Raczek.
And Vincent and Adam will finally talk in the sunset. And return to Słubice together.
Tumblr media
And that would be the crossover I want.
Look, I know, Vincent and Adam formally only had two episodes? But they had mad chemistry together. Like, Spatort-level-intensity, but different.
And they live rent free in my head ever since.
Tumblr media
It's not just because of the chemistry between the two characters, by the way. It's also because of some comments made by the actors (especially Lucas Gregorowicz) who said on multiple occasions that he fell head over heels ("schockverliebt") for André Kaczmarczyk.
Affectionate... I guess.
Fun fact: Lucas Gregorowicz decided to leave Polizeiruf 110 before the showrunners had finalized his replacement. Neither he nor André anticipated how well they’d click. Apparently André even tried to convince him to stay at some point.
Lastly, the making-of for their first episode teased an intriguing observation: usually, "when you have a male and a female actor, people will automatically assume some kind of romantic tension between them. Why don't people assume the same when it's two male actors? That's the kind of potential the new constellation brings." (Lucas Gregorowicz, Making-Off Hildes Erbe (still schockverliebt, I guess)).
Anyway, fingers crossed for this becoming reality (if not on TV then on ao3, please someone give) and in the meantime - have fun with this post!
