I decided to convert to Hellenic polytheism at an Applebees, because I’m a classy woman. I officially set up my first altar about a week later. It was an altar to Ares. Ares was my very first deity.

If we skip forward to the now, I pray to three deities. Ares, Thanatos, and Aphrodite. I’m pretty good (?) at this. Than is my patron and I love him to death (get, it? Haha, because he’s death? alright I’ll stop. Srry guys) and Ares and Aphrodite are so so so so so so lovely.

As you all should now if you stalk my blog. I am permanently ill. It’s about every month a new disease makes its way into my immune system. I was laying in my bed, and figured that maybe, just MAYBE I could start praying to Apollo again.

My headcanons of the boys' siblings, and their relationships with them:

Neil - Only Child. Which explains all the burden and pressure he had all throughout his life, and I don't think he really had any friends except for Charlie growing up. He had other boys to hang out, but not really 'friends' kinda thing. His parents (his dad, obviously) never allowed him to do sleepovers or play out with kids when he was young. Neil never experienced nor seen anybody around his age with siblings, so he didn't know if wanted one or not, until he came to Welton and saw some brothers with different age gaps, and in some ways having their backs for each other, making Neil desperately wanting one- more likely a brother. Personally, Neil would've have been the best brother if he had either one. (I'm going to die now)

Charlie - Also an only child, but a baby sister/brother coming. He also gives me the vibe of an only child- but in a good way. If Neil was more of the repressed and pressured type, Charlie wasn't treated the same way, though he was taken to social parties and other fancy-schmancy places his dad took him (and he hated), which kinda explains his knowledge for women at his age- since he grew up watching different types of older, high class people. Kinda head canoning that his father made him to play the clarinet so he could do recitals infront of his guests, which made Charlie hate it even more (will rant about this soon). I think he might get a baby sister or brother- but after he's all grown up so basically he doesn't have anything to do with it, he'll probably act like the cool uncle kind of way.

Todd - Youngest of Three. Aside from Jeffrey, I like to think that he has an older sister, who married young and left home when Todd was probably around 5 or 6, so he doesn't have significant memories of her except that she liked to read. All the books Todd read at home was definitely hers- mostly literatures and poems, which she left when she left. That and the only memories Todd have with her will only be her reading the poems for him when he was a baby, even before he knew the words because his parents were busy taking care of the Golden child- Jeffrey, and she basically took care of Todd when he was an infant (will also rant about this soon).

His relationship with his brother is complex, but I don't think Jeffrey is a bad brother for Todd. Todd feels he's under the shadows because Jeffrey was so good at everything- so perfect, but I think Jeffrey also kinda has his own problems, he might have Golden Child Syndrome, which I will deal in an another post, but Todd and Jeffrey would probably get along around their 30's.

Meeks - Youngest with three sisters, all different age gaps. Meeks, our sweet little boy gives the youngest baby boy aura, but with sisters, which is very important explaining his behavior towards others. He's more of an empath than the other boys- and also catches how Todd feels awkward and alone on their first meeting. He is the type who doesn't like people being left behind, and this is infleunced his sisters growing up. Though he shows awkwardness when it comes to girls, he doesn't really have fantasies about them- since he saw the reality of women from his sisters. He's the only boy in the siblings, so he does have the pressure to excel academically, but not as much as Neil does, but he doesn't really mind it since he finds studying enjoyable. He's not good at sports, though- since he grew up reading more than working out. I love to imagine one of his sisters taught him Latin.

Pitts - The middle child, with an older brother and a younger sister, a little age gap between both. He probably has an older brother who graduated college and works now, and a younger sister starting grade school. He doesn't have good nor bad relationships with his siblings, they just don't have much in common, and shares different interests. But their family is pretty tight, so though his brother moved out, he visits home every now and then, giving Pitts advice or encouraging him about his love for science, though he has no idea about it. He doesn't get along with his sister, but he is protective of her since she's the youngest. Pitt's is the good case of being the middle child.

Cameron - Oldest with a young baby brother. He has a baby brother around 7 or 8, and has the need to impress him. As much as his relationship with his parents, he wants to show his brother how successful he is and will become, wanting him to follow his footsteps just as much as their father did. Cameron definitely has a goodboy complex and a perfectionist, over working himself and thinking what he does is always for the greater good. I personally think his relationship with his brother will fail when he comes to a certain age, with some miscommunications and different ideals.

Knox - Oldest of Three, a younger brother and a baby sister coming soon. He is the older brother of two younger siblings with age gaps, which explains his father's wishes of Knox becoming a lawyer just like him. He wants him to take over the family job, which he doesn't have a reason to say no- though he's not very fond with the idea but he doesn't have any other passion, so he just goes for the money and stability the job gives him. Since he has so much age gap between his siblings, he didn't really have much time with them since he came to Welton from a young age. Though he has a sister he never had any interactions with girls or what so ever, and he only met his father's clients or colleagues (which are middle aged or old, white males), he acts awkwardly around women. Though romantic at heart, I personally think he doesn't know how to show his feelings towards girls since all he never knew how to court them- and the most women he have seen were the ones who wanted to divorce their husbands. (This is my personal favorite head canon don't judge me pls)

ran this by the Shalom Interpersonal Affairs council (sev) and we actually came up with a whole college of performing arts AU for ptn….. it’s kind of a rich university and shalom plays the cello in the school’s orchestra, she’s perfect when it comes to technique, memorization, finesse, things like that so she’s always been told her playing was perfect. on a technical standpoint, it is. the university is affiliated with paradeisos, with whom she’s obtained her scholarship from like one of those corporate scholarships. so she very much represents paradeisos and is repeatedly told to act like it. she’s calm, eloquent, a good listener and an overall sweet girl but the people around her don’t know her at all, shes very good at redirection and never shares too much of herself but ppl don’t really notice that she only makes them talk about themselves. she’s pretty studies focused and disinterested by romance, not because she doesn’t want to experience it but it just never happened for her. here comes the fun part hehe— R is a transfer student that gets here during the winter semester. they’re studying to be a conductor and they take that very seriously. people are surprised they were even able to work with the orchestra considering that inscriptions happen during the fall, and they dont look all that special. some of them probably make bets on how long they’ll last. turns out R is FREAKISHLY talented at like. hearing every single part of a harmony which makes them an insane conductor, and they’re not afraid to call out slackers who they think have no place in their orchestra. when shalom witnesses them in action for the first time it’s literally love at first sight— heart racing, fingertips trembling, she’s holding her breath and her eyes are wide kind of visceral reaction… she’s touched in a way nothing has touched her before. absolutely does not know what to do with herself. and when the orchestra performs for the first time with R as a witness, they zero in on her in particular. afterwards, they take her apart and tells her she sounds empty. there’s no soul in her art. it’s irritating. there are no emotions when she plays and they can hear it and they hate it.

im rambling but ughjhgjgjgg theyre so. theyre so good. shalom goes through a lot of firsts with R; first real connection, first fantasies, first person to see her for who she is, etc. it’s just cute… me when a character sees the world in brighter colors in the presence of another character 😵😵😵

forgot to mention but about the voice line— i would say chief is the only thing that connects shalom to her humanity/emotions, like she was “reborn” (not anew but rather re-became a version of how she was before) because of chief. they’re extremely important to her as the person who’s given her her freedom. she still struggles to see herself as more than a tool with a predestined end, and she also believes that chief’s end is destined in a similar way for what they represent, so she’s attached to them while trying to come to terms with the fact that they’ll die and she wont be able to do anything about it. in a way, outside of paradeisos, shalom has nothing but chief— in her point of view. she didnt expect rahu to stick by her bc she didnt think rahu cared. she probably doesnt expect a thing from christina either. so to me idk, it makes sense for her to want chief to stay by her side

“Again, Angelique If I heard the words ‘Again’ or ‘Angelique’ I was gonna scream. Who knows how hard it was to overblown notes immediately above the ‘break‘ from B above middle C to E at 4th above! What the hell is that?

I set my clarinet down in a big huff, fixing my hair which was perched in heatless curls the night before, plucked into two bows my best friend and roommate Lola said would make me ‘pop’. If god knew what she meant..

I look over at my music coach, Brady, me and Lola call her “Coach Cruella” cause the fact she has 11 dogs. Rumors spread that her and her partner, now husband were practicing so much that they popped a baby instead of a concert. Which puts even more pressure on me because the fact that I’m her next choice in spotlight.

Her son, much older now. Is playing music too, flute to be exact. She teaches her son too, he’s a prodigy really, she proclaim like it was important to me.

I start packing up, putting my clarinet away in its usual places, huffing as I put my music pieces in my folder. When just then, I look over. A man, whom looks just like Coach Brady, but with sun-kissed skin, a small fluff of black hair on top, with a flute cade in hand, along with 3 other men.

Coach Brady looked happy as she squealed out, “oh! Speaking of him Angie” She says, delightfully.

One of the 3 men, had a overgrown Mohawk, perched up high, soft blue eyes that glistened in the sun on a warm sunny day, his arm was slung over another man, with a skull mask clung tight onto his face, a soft fur of blonde on the top of his head, his blue eyes were cold, not like the other man. finally, the oldest looking out of the bunch, with mature beauty like no other man, he had a scurry beard, with soft eyes that could hold someone in the night, these men all seemed close - romantic with each other almost.

I look over and they’re all staring straight at me. I blush in embarrassment and look away, my cheeks heating up as I turn and start to walk out.

just then one of the boys grab me, I look over, he has his flute in his hand he smiles softly and says : “stay, hear us play.” I look shocked almost “you- you sure?” I stammer out. He nods as he grabs his stand, the others grab their places too, I see the older man carrying a large case, most likely a tuba. Meanwhile, the face-masked man is heading over to the drums, and the younger out of all of them: the Mohawk one is setting up his saxophone. He looks at me just then, smiles, and says : “you play?”

Coach Brady smiles just then and says : “yes! She’s an old student of mine from college, she was first chair every year! She majors in music and clarinet!” She says, praising me like her most prized possession.

i smile awkwardly as i stare, watching them as Coach Brady introduces me to all of them properly.

The mature out of all them and the oldest is named Johnathan Price : John for short. While her son is named Kyle. Meanwhile the Mohawk man is named Johnny while the masked covered man is named Simon.

Just then, I hear the drums start rolling, then I hear the tuba, saxophone, then the flute last. They all come in harmony, like a beautiful melody, something played in a sweet rom-com in Hawaii, it brings something inside me. Like maybe..maybe I can be one of them.

Before I know it, it’s over, the last note rings high in the room and it all goes quiet. I look over and stammer out to everyone in the room.

“T-that was beautiful I-“

Before that, Johnny starts up with a sly grin, “ye wanna try yourself, less?”

So, my dad played d&d in the 80s as a kid. I asked him the other day if he thought about playing again, and he told me no. Apparently, their Dungeon Master was so good that no one else could possibly do him justice. And then he talked about him and the guy who introduced him to d&d, the one who died a few years ago. . .the one he named an online character after his d&d character. So, even though he doesn't play, he does look back on that time fondly. I think that's why he loves season one so much. It captured his youth pretty well. My dad's basically Gareth except that he's not a metalhead, and he doesn't play the drums. He was a band geek who played the clarinet, and he was also a theater kid. In terms of looks, he's basically Gareth. He has a baby face like Gareth, and he tends to be scowly, but he's a softy, actually. He's also a bit like Mike, too. Lol, my dad gets so nostalgic when season one comes on. Will even wore one of the shirts he had as a kid.

♡ Misc. Kokuyo Gang Headcanons ✧

Ken is averse to showers for multiple reasons, but one of them is because his body has adjusted to a very... sparse shower routine. Anything heavily scented irritates his nose, and many soaps will even give him rashes. He would rather die than to admit that he can only stand using unscented baby soap.

He sleeps better with something pressed against him, like a wall to his back, while hugging a pillow, or with his face in the crevice of the couch. It might stem from him growing up sleeping in crowded accommodations… he would love one of those human-sized dog beds.

Chikusa built his own signature weapons, and his hands are rather dexterous. Just think about all the yo-yo tricks he is capable of. He doesn’t enjoy using computers at all, the digital screen and blue light actually hurts his eyes, but his typing speed would be impressive if he had to use a keyboard. He learned to touch type fairly quickly and has good hand-eye coordination.

He enjoys working with rubik’s cubes and has gotten really good at it. He has red-green colourblindness, and he really didn’t like asking people for the difference between “this shade and that shade” when it came to the cheap cubes with stickers and paint that would chip and peel off. One day, he will get himself a nice colorblind-friendly cube, but he hates splurging so he just copes for now.

M.M. is quite extroverted and loves to pick people’s brains. She especially loves dressing up in her best outfits to go to jazz bars and gather all sorts of intel (and coins) from the patrons there. It has a mix of her favourite things: dancing, a classy atmosphere, rich people that she can chat up to charm their wallets open, and she occasionally actually plays her clarinet for people.

She doesn’t like the way that Fran speaks French and finds his regional accent atrocious. To that, he speaks French just to annoy her, even when she replies in Italian or Japanese as a way to say “that’s enough, please use literally any other language that we both know please.”

Chrome has befriended the local stray cat colony and a murder of crows. They all leave little gifts on the doorstep for her, ranging from small coins to dead mice. She gets more than a little flustered at the latter but understands that it’s just in their nature.

She is not an adventurous eater and has her safe foods that she will turn to just to curb her hunger. She used to run purely on being in survival mode but has since learned to keep snacks in her bag just in case. The few things that she does make for herself, she has gotten really good at.

Fran tends to zone out, and usually no one can tell because his face looks exactly the same as when he’s completely present and aware of the current moment. The only way you can tell is that sometimes, at the end of a mission debrief, his eyebrows raise slightly, and that’s him realizing that he absolutely wasn’t listening and has no idea what they’re doing now.

When it comes to social deduction games, he’s the best one out of the gang. Mukuro used to be the reigning champion of Kokuyo gang board game nights, until Fran came along.

Mukuro enjoys browsing vintage and oddity stores and collecting unique jewelry. He has pieces that incorporate teeth, bones, furs, and hides of various animals.

He’s fairly adventurous in almost every aspect of the human experience and is open to trying any food at least once (granted it doesn't.. kill him, but he’d probably find a way to come back from it anyway), trying different crafts, and consuming different media. However, he’s learned that he doesn’t particularly enjoy most craft-related hobbies, and rarely has the free time to read or watch anything to the end unless it’s fairly short (but he would tear through a good book if given some leisure time).

Rebels Rewatch: "Legends of the Lasat"

Also WHY THE HELL DID CNTRL+Z DELETE BASICALLY THE WHOLE DAMN POST?!

Anyway.

I'm glad we got to visit this moon space base location again, I think it's such an interesting design.

Another tightly-written opening dialogue exposition scene here, in a few short sentences we learn what they Spectres are here for and why, and that the mission is urgent.

Lol Ezra being evasive about Hondo being his contact. I do wonder how exactly Hondo got that transmitter to Ezra. Did they reconnect sometime offscreen? Did Ezra swipe it during "Brothers of the Broken Horn"? Did Hondo surreptitiously leave it in Ezra's pocket?

However it happened, it's adorable that this once-ruthless bloodthirsty greedy pirate basically decided, "I MUST BEFRIEND THE BABY JEDI, HE'S MY FRIEND NOW I CLAIM HIM."

The camerawork in this scene is phenomenal. This first shot that tracks the Spectres and then dollies just around the corner, as if we are also peeking around it with the characters? This fast almost 270 rotating pan across the Spectres as they make short work of the troopers? Stellar.

(You can also tell they had budget to spare for this episode because the Imperial officer has a face. Lol.)

Love it when they let Ezra be casually awesome.

Hera sounds so aggrieved that Hondo is Ezra's contact lol.

And here we get the reveal, Zeb was captain of the High Honor Guard of Lasan. A bit later in the episode we learn this consists of being a bodyguard protector of the royal family specifically and all citizens of Lasan in general. Sooooo yeah, quite a bit of heavy personal guilt for Zeb here, feeling like he, specifically, personally, failed his entire world. Ouch.

"Hondo could use a little help." <3

Zeb's expressions this scene are painful. :(

Though not so fond that he doesn't immediately screw everyone over, greedy bastard.

I saw Zeb rolling his eyes there, animators.

So Zeb's interactions with Chava and Grond are very much a Spiritualist vs Skeptic plot, with the expected tragic personal reason for the skeptic's doubt and disbelief. It's also heavily implied that the loss of Lasan, that trauma, made Zeb regress in maturity, made him snippier and more petulant and churlish. As Ezra says later Zeb does act "like a child", so perhaps his being cast as the Child archetype in the Prophecy of the Three was not so off base lol.

Ezra has such cute smiles this episode. <3

LOL Hondo's chipper little "Hello!" at the Stormtroopers.

"Well. This must look... incriminating." This man is a delight in every scene.

I mentioned the camerawork right? This is another nice shot here, this pan down from the cockpit to the nose gun turret to meet Zeb.

Subtle animation appreciation moment: The smoke coming from the chimney top of the station.

...Is this Stormtrooper also voiced by David Oyelowo?

Ezra immediately noticing Zeb's scoffing like the empath he is. <3

Love love love seeing the unique cultural way that Lasat interact with the Force, the "Ashla" as they call it, mixed ritual and magitek, prophecies that revolve around certain narrative archetypes and symbolic figures. It's just so cool.

I haven't been talking much about the music yet (oh but believe me we will have much to say on that) but this cue here starts easing just slightly into the mysticism of the Lasat ritual. It's almost Stravinsky-esque in nature, carefully stepping flutes and clarinets, discordant strings. We incorporate just a very soft snippet of the Force theme.

Zeb auto-assuming Ezra is the child.

Lol Hondo putting his arm around that one Stormtrooper's shoulder.

He's so cute asjkhfkajsh. Look at him. He's all like, "Please Dad, can I chant with the weird purple people too?"

HE LOOKS SO FOND AND PROUD AWW.

The score takes a bit of an exotic turn, a mellow arabic flute and possibly a sitar adding to the texture of the melody.

The lighting in this scene egads.

I love this scene I love it so much. Ezra acting as counselor, with his mere presence and curiosity getting Zeb to open up about his past and fears and insecurities. There's so much hurt in Zeb's slumped posture, guilt and grief compete for space in his voice, and I don't think we see him this distraught again until after Kanan's death.

But with Ezra's encouragement, he pulls himself together.

Once again showing off the cool magitek with Chava's staff and Zeb's bo-rifle here and I just love the concept, I love the whole aesthetic of hearing whispers of destiny through the Ashla and then channeling the energy of the universe through arcane, almost magical technology to navigate the stars, like some kind of arcane mariners. And we all thought the bo-rifle was just some kind of standard ordinary weapon, SURPRISE, it's also an ancient Force-magic navicomputer.

And oh wow the parallels with the purrgil next episode and the Chiss sky-walkers in the Thrawn novels.

This is soooooo pretty. The animation here is gorgeous.

After the commercial cut we're in hyperspace and the Ghost is making an almost blind jump out into Wild Space. Hera doesn't seem terribly worried. (Behind the scenes material says she apparently does this all the time.) But the ship's safety protocols flip out when they sense the imploded star cluster and Hera quickly drops them into realspace and one of the most gorgeous moments of the series.

HNNNNNNGHGHHHHH.

This whole sequence is stunning. Some of the best animation of the show, accompanied by one of the best tracks in the score, the star cluster looking like a watercolor spectacle.

And the Stravinsky influenced instrumentation brings the strings front and center; a haunting choir whispers in the background.

Kanan putting one hand on the back of Hera's chair and the other on her shoulder, aww.

Just tell me you wouldn't want this as a wall painting. <3

Chava gives some inspiring words about not pidegonholing oneself into a single role in their prophecy and this motivates Zeb to find a well of inner courage and open himself up to the will of the Ashla.

What I wouldn't give for more on ancient Lasan tech, how their ships must have been designed to integrate with the bo-rifle staffs. It functions as pilot and navigator and also apparently encases the Ghost with a protective shield that keeps it from being crushed by the gravity.

Let that sink in a moment, the staff, when channeling the Force, can literally bend gravity around the ship.

AND AS "JOURNEY INTO THE STAR CLUSTER" WRAPS US IN A VIOLIN SOLO THAT EVOKES MYSTERY AND MYSTICISM KANAN AND EZRA SENSE THEIR HELP IS NEEDED AND CALMLY PLACE HANDS ON ZEB, LIKE THE LAYING OF HANDS DURING CORPORATE PRAYER, AND CHANNEL THE FORCE THROUGH THEM INTO ZEB, WHO LETS IT FLOW THROUGH HIM THROUGH THE RIFLE TO GIVE HIM THE CLARITY OF VISION TO SEE THE WAY THROUGH.

Subtle animation appreciation moment: The sparks that pop from a wall panel on the cruiser as Kallus attempts to have it follow the Ghost.

THE CHOIR COMES IN FULL BLAST.

AND ZEB CLOSES HIS EYES IN FAITH AS THE LIGHT TURNS BLINDING.

Whew! And what a rush! The absolute quiet in the score right afterwards gives us a moment to inhale and catch our breath.

Chopper of course chooses to be a pest, releasing the tension.

Lira San being the ancient lost homeworld of the Lasat fits right in with the whole arcane vibe of their culture, like they were connected to a place and people that time forgot.

And tada, we leave with a character arc complete, a new hyperspace route plotted and everything bathed in an aura of serenity.

This episode is one of the best of Season Two, if not the whole series. Everything comes together beautifully in the third act and the story has a feel of both spiritual transformation and wonder. I've already gushed about how interesting and unique the Lasat culture is, how it's presented as a mix of mysticism and technology, with prophecies and wise women, royal families and warriors, and navigators that explored the stars, guided by the Ashla.

Zeb gets more character growth in one episode than some characters get in a season, and he's largely "finished" after this, his issues with his past resolved. (Which isn't to say I wouldn't have loved more character focus on him, just that this is so phenomenal.) His heart-to-heart with Ezra is touching and illustrates just how close they've grown.

And did I mention this episode was pretty? This episode is super pretty and the music is straight fire.

10/10 no complaints. Would give Kiner my money again.

Let's start with Tobey since he's the only one with a canon age, also he was my favorite when I was a kid.

Reason: Just strikes me as a fall baby. I think his birthday would be 7 months earlier than Becky's. I headcanon that her earth birthday is the day that the Botsfords found her since they wouldn't know her real birthday and I assume that Lexicon has a different year length and month cycle, so Bob wouldn't be able to translate it to Earth's.

Bonus Headcanon: Tobey's parents are separated. He and Claire left England when he was 4 or 5 while his father remained.
