Synopsis of Study

Audio-visual graphics have become a vital part of performance culture, being used to elevate shows and engage audiences across a multitude of arts. I want to highlight the relationship between audio and visuals by visually communicating the personal connection we can have with music.

Involving audio-visual graphics and highlighting the conversation between audio and visuals I will create an installation through the creation of generative visuals that will be inspired from the connection to music. Translating the emotions of a song, I will highlight the relationship we have with music via generative visuals. I will incorporate different elements of visual communication, such as typography, imagery, animation and colour theory, and use them to create a distinctive and memorable installation. This relates to my future aspirations and my own specialist practice as a visual designer. I will consider the EDM music genre and the setting of my installation. My target audience will be 18-25 year olds who are looking for an experience that highlights the love and community of the EDM genre. I'll consider the context of the installation such as location, theme and the audience. I'll look at the uses of emotions theory and semiotics that could relate to my outcome.

Aims

A1: I will identify links between my specialist topic and relevant theoretical and conceptual frameworks through independent led research and critical understanding.

A2: I will strengthen my ability to define problems and generate ideas using different approached to solve them appropriate to an identified audience.

A3: I will develop my creativity, knowledge and understanding of practice through the effective use of communication in professional contexts.

Here we salute Allen’s founding role in conceiving and curating The Journal of Architecture that over its first quarter century has seen it become a leading international academic journal of architectural discourse and research. Yet, this project with its now vast heritage of scholarly material is only one of Allen’s many outstanding achievements. One could equally celebrate his career as a practising architect who worked with the likes of Marcel Breuer and Sir Leslie Martin, or as Head of Architecture at PCL/University of Westminster lighting the paths of generations of grateful graduates, or Co-ordinator of DoCoMoMo, the international organisation for conserving Modern Movement buildings and his milestone publication Modern Movement Heritage (1998), or his inexhaustible artistic creativity so splendidly displayed in his house in France, a one-man gallery of stunning inventiveness that delighted and amazed those of us who visited him there.
