While some appreciate the idea of coming together to understand autism, others find it implies autism is a puzzle to be solved, or that autistic people are broken or mysterious.
The puzzle piece remains a common symbol, but the neurodiversity movement promotes a rainbow infinity symbol, signifying the vast spectrum of autistic experiences and the idea that autism is a natural variation of human neurology.

autism culture is finding a puzzle piece earring in your jewelry and wondering if you should wear it because on one hand it looks pretty but on the other hand people might think you support a hate group

As an autistic person who loves jigsaw puzzles, I am forever annoyed at well known hate group, Autism Speaks, for using a puzzle piece as their symbol.
I would love if the puzzle piece represented both my love for puzzles and my pride in my autism, I want to get puzzle piece jewelry. I know I could wear them anyway but the association with that group kind of ruins it for me :/

hi! This is for matchups and don’t question my grammar! Please.
im female, pansexual. I am 5’7(maybe around 170 cm??), I have long wavy black hair and bangs that go to the side, and blue eyes. I have an ear and nose piercing. I also have a tattoo behind my right ear for my sister. I don’t have a particular ‘aesthetic’ or ‘style’ its mainly tomboyish-comfy clothing. I do wear a lot of jewelry occasionally.
My main interest is drawing literally ever since I picked up a crayon. I like to write song lyrics and poetry, I can play the viola and a bit of ukulele, music music music any style of music I love, video games: I like kind of phycological or puzzle games, and I like looking at the stars and constellations and planets that type of stuff.
I really don’t watch a lot of shows or tv in general my attention span is extremely low for anything that isn’t a 24 hour gaming stream. /j sort of
my personality is very weird whenever I ask friends its ‘chaotic neutral’. I have social anxiety so I can be very ‘shy’ and ‘introverted’ I am more comfortable with people I know well which is about no one- I am very empathetic and understanding which equals me also being chill therapist/mom friend. If my personality is weird or doesn’t make sense: that’s my autism for you <3
love language: physical touch, quality time
thank you for reading what is me trying to describe myself, thanks for matching me with someone, if that’s not the case that’s okay too!
hi honey! I ship you with;
GeorgeNotFound, !!
First off, quality time is George‘s forte. Even if you’re on the other side of the room doing something while he’s busy, having your presence there really means everything to him.
I feel like with your features, your dark hair and bright eyes you could make George so flustered.
He would admire you all the time, although most times you don’t even see it. But if you make a guest appearance In any content, - you best believe the viewers see it.
I honestly don’t think that George is a tv person either, although it wouldn’t be for the same reason as you I reckon he struggles to actually get stuck into a movie or show.
I think to be fair you being the mom friend would work wonders because let’s be honest, George just wants be babied and spoilt completely.
I Just know that George has a secret love for astronomy, like look at that man and tell me he’s not into that stuff.
He’d bury his head in your lap and ask you to play your ukulele to him

Autism Ugly Sweater Party
An Autism Ugly Sweater Party is a fun and festive event that not only brings people together but also raises awareness for autism. This party is a great opportunity for men and women of all ages to come together, have a great time, and show their support for those with autism. One of the highlights of an Autism Ugly Sweater Party is, of course, the attire. Ugly sweaters have become a popular trend during the holiday season, and this party is the perfect excuse to go all out with the most ridiculous and over-the-top sweaters imaginable. From tacky patterns to outrageous colors, the uglier the sweater, the better! This gives everyone, regardless of age or gender, the chance to express themselves and show off their creativity. The party itself can be as casual or as formal as you'd like. You can host it at a local event venue or even in the comfort of your own home. Decorate the space with festive and colorful decorations, such as streamers, balloons, and banners. To add an extra touch, consider incorporating puzzle pieces, which are often associated with autism awareness, into the decorations. While the main focus of the party is autism awareness, it's essential to remember that it is also a celebration. Encourage your guests to socialize, dance, and participate in various activities that promote inclusivity and fun. You can set up a photo booth with props related to autism and ugly sweaters, allowing everyone to capture memories of this special event. Additionally, consider organizing a raffle or auction with prizes, with the proceeds going towards an autism-related charity or organization. This not only adds an element of excitement to the party but also helps make a difference in the lives of those with autism. When it comes to selecting gifts for everyone attending the Autism Ugly Sweater Party, it's essential to keep in mind the theme of the event. Consider gifting items that promote autism awareness or support individuals with autism. Puzzle piece-themed jewelry, keychains, or clothing can be great options. You could also provide guests with small informational pamphlets or books about autism, helping to spread awareness and understanding. In addition to autism-specific gifts, you can also consider more generic presents that align with the holiday spirit. Depending on your budget and the preferences of your guests, you could give out small items such as festive mugs, scented candles, or personalized ornaments. These gifts can serve as a token of appreciation to your guests for attending the party and supporting the cause. In conclusion, an Autism Ugly Sweater Party is a unique and engaging event that brings people together in support of autism awareness. It allows men, women, and people of all ages to have a great time while also making a positive impact on the lives of those with autism. Whether through the attire, decorations, or gifts, this party offers an opportunity to raise awareness and promote understanding, making it a memorable and meaningful event for everyone involved.

Gifts that help Spread Autism Awareness
Tumblr media
It is not enough to be aware.  We must love. Accept. Share. Educate. From the moment the word “autism” or the terms “spectrum” are used in the same sentences as our children, family members, friends, it sends the desire to learn more racing through our veins.  The first thing a parent may see is Autism Speaks.  A great resource to answer questions: https://www.autismspeaks.org/what-autism

Proud Aunt Autism Warrior: Navigating Challenges with Love and Understanding
"Proud Aunt Autism Warrior" is a powerful title that represents a dedicated and supportive family member in the autism community. This phrase embodies the love, advocacy, and unwavering support an aunt provides for her autistic niece or nephew.
Tumblr media
Buy now:19.95$
As an Autism Warrior, the aunt takes on multiple roles. She educates herself about autism spectrum disorder, staying informed about the latest research and interventions. She advocates fiercely for her niece or nephew's rights, inclusion, and appropriate accommodations in educational and social settings.
This aunt celebrates her autistic family member's unique qualities and achievements, promoting neurodiversity acceptance within her family and broader community. She may participate in autism awareness events, fundraisers, or support groups, extending her impact beyond her immediate family.

The "Proud" aspect emphasizes the aunt's positive attitude towards autism. Rather than viewing it as a limitation, she recognizes the strengths and potential in her autistic niece or nephew. She takes pride in their accomplishments, no matter how small they may seem to others.
This title also acknowledges the emotional support the aunt provides, offering a listening ear, a safe space, and unconditional love. She may serve as a respite caregiver, giving parents a much-needed break.
By identifying as a "Proud Aunt Autism Warrior," this individual signals her commitment to being a lifelong ally and champion for her autistic family member.

Autism Awareness Month, observed in April, is associated with specific colors that have become symbolic of the autism community. The primary color is blue, which has been widely adopted since the "Light It Up Blue" campaign launched by Autism Speaks in 2010. Many buildings and landmarks are illuminated in blue during this month to show support.
However, there's a growing movement to incorporate a broader spectrum of colors, reflecting the diversity within the autism community. The rainbow-colored infinity symbol, representing neurodiversity, is gaining popularity. Some advocates prefer using gold, referencing the periodic table symbol for Au (Autism).
Red is sometimes used to represent autism acceptance, while multicolored puzzle pieces have been a long-standing symbol. These varied colors aim to represent the complexity and uniqueness of each individual on the autism spectrum.

The autism puzzle piece is a widely recognized symbol associated with autism awareness. Originating in 1963, it was designed by the National Autistic Society to represent the complexity and mystery of autism spectrum disorder. The puzzle piece symbolizes the multifaceted nature of autism and the challenges in understanding and treating it.
While some embrace this symbol, others in the autism community have criticized it, feeling it implies autistic individuals are incomplete or need fixing. As a result, alternative symbols like the rainbow infinity loop have emerged. Despite controversy, the puzzle piece remains a common sight in autism awareness campaigns and merchandise.

I wish it was possible for someone to wear jewelry and clothes with puzzle pieces on it and people don’t default to “oh, she’s autistic” but rather things like “she likes puzzle games” “she likes the mystery genre” “she likes doing jigsaw puzzles”
Like yes I’m autistic but there are more reasons one may wear things with puzzle pieces on it than being autistic or “autism awareness”. They could just really like puzzles and mysteries, which I do very much!
I think as long as it’s not a blue puzzle piece or puzzle piece ribbon people should realize it’s not necessarily an autism thing but rather someone just expressing their love of puzzles. Jigsaw puzzles are really cool.

Character sketch: Edwina Blalock.
Friends call her Ed (never Eddie). A sought after expert in the restoration, valuation and provenance of historic ceramics and jewelry. And an accomplished amateur horticulturalist. Clearly obsessed with pink. In fact she is quite famous for having invented a very popular pink plant - affectionately known as "Eddie's Pink..." - a moniker she abhors. Ed's (NOT Eddie's) very ordered world is shattered when a major collector and friend (secret lover) is violently murdered. Ed's determined personality, eye for detail and inability to ignore a complex puzzle (she secretly struggles with Autism) pull her into the stalled investigation of her friend's death. International conspiracies are uncovered. Mayhem ensues (sometimes comedically). After all (just in case you missed it) Edwina Blalock is obsessed with pink. And people are obsessed with her because of it. - rp
Location: London
I don't know about you, but I wouldn't mind watching an episode of Edwina Blalock on the BBC right now.
