there's a voice memo bootleg of the DX (total control, uv race, straightjacket nation etc), lowlife and iceage show that i went to at sydney opera house last week. sharing this here because i had a few people ask about the show and express how they wish they could've come to australia to see it. it was an incredible night, and DX's debut had me excited to see him back as a frontman, his energy is captivating. highly recommend checking this blog out if you are fans of any of these bands, music archival, or if you just really enjoy some damn good punk music.

With their first tour ‘Vomitorium Compendium’ having just kicked off on the back of their first album release, Küntsquad are sure to hit the ground running. The four-piece crustpunk-deathpunk band offer a modern twist on a genre we just don’t hear enough of these days. OVERVIEW: "The four-piece outfit from Melbourne hit the stage—and downtime in their tour bus—with a heavy dose of Australian humour—all captured by photographer Jamie Wdziekonski for #GucciGig, a collaborative project that pairs musicians with artists wearing distinct #GucciEyewear designs. In the collection of black-and-white and color images shot on tour in California, the members are posing, singing and in one shot, under a vintage hair dryer. In every photograph is a pair of Gucci sunglasses, from 70s style pilot frames with yellow lenses donned by guitarist Dec Martens, aviators seen on drummer Bryce Wilson, and white rectangular and python skin topped square frames worn by singer Amy Taylor and bass player Gus Romer. Both Amy and Gus feature in the Gucci Pre-Fall 2019 campaign shot in Selinunte and walked in the Gucci Fall Winter 2019 fashion show. Amy and the Sniffers created a playlist on Gucci’s new Spotify profile, discover their "No Punk" collection of tracks featuring diverse genres and artists including PRODIGY and BORN DIRTY."

Anyone who lives in or near the great southern of Western Australia. PACKHOaRSE (yep just like that) is our big local punk talent. They're fucking awsome so go give em a listen on Spotify. Also buy their merch.

if you’re looking for a cool new punk band to listen to, i highly recommend looking for local small bands before searching “punk” into spotify.

don’t know how to find them?

what i did is i looked up what some punk bars in my area, i started going on random nights and found bands i liked that way. (if you’re under 21, you can still look up the bars, but go to their instagram, see what bands are playing and see if they are on band camp, spotify, etc.)

this has worked amazing for me, i’ve made so many friends, it’s to the point where certain bands shows feel like monthly family reunions full of so much love and genuine compassion.

hope this helps anyone wanting to be more involved in the subculture

EDIT: if you live in a small town, just search the nearest big city. or honestly any city that you vibe with. every area has a slightly different sound and scene find what you blend with!!
