The photograph of Buzz Aldrin standing next to the U.S. flag on the moon is among the most iconic images in U.S. history. The image was captured during the #Apollo11 mission, the first human-crewed mission to land on the Moon, on July 20, 1969. 🌙

June 14th is Flag Day! 🇺🇸
It commemorates the adoption of the flag of the United States on June 14, 1777 by resolution of the Second Continental Congress.
Pictured above: U.S. Marines from Echo Company, 2nd Battalion, 2nd Marine Regiment, pose holding an American flag shortly before leaving Patrol Base Khodi Rhom in Garmsir District of Helmand province in Afghanistan, April 20, 2010.

Happy Flag Day!
On this day, 15th Feb, in 1965 is when the current flag was raised for the first time on Parliament Hill.
I went with à fairytale look for this digital illustration, and drew some of the most famous canadian birds on the margins.

(Okay fine. I'm posting this after midnight but I drew this on the day, and I drew it wrong.)
Let's go into some history about the Canadian Flag!
So, 2025 is the 60th anniversary of the current Canadian flag. Talk about a long time. It was made official by a proclamation from the Queen in January 1965. On Feb. 15, it was inaugurated at Parliament Hill. This design was created by George Stanley out of the 3 final contestants for the flag.
Before the current flag, we had the Red Ensign, which had 3 iterations. This was the first one, which was only officially the naval flag in the 1890s. This was unofficially in use from the 1870s till 1921.

In 1921, King George V granted Royal Arms and shield. This was used during WW2.

And before these, it was just the Union Jack.
