Sir Chloe – Music Hall of Williamsburg – April 13, 2024

After putting out a host of singles, Sir Chloe’s highly anticipated debut full-length, I Am the Dog, arrived last May, earning plaudits from fans and critics alike: “Along with a twangy, soft-loud art-punk sound that evokes the influence of ’90s icons like the Pixies and Hole,” raves AllMusic, “Sir Chloe have a knack for crafting sharp-tongued anthems that are often built around the struggle between the ego and the id, or more specifically, the human and the animal.” On Saturday at a sold-out Music Hall of Williamsburg, the Vermont five-piece kicked off a two-night run.

im writing a Good Omens/ Sherlock Holmes crossover which is very fun mostly because I've named it GOSH on my computer and it makes me giggle every time. Some highlights:

*It's 1890s era, and Aziraphale's coat is already 30 years out of style.

*Holmes and Watson introduce themselves and Mr. Fell is immediately excited about meeting WATSON. Holmes is somewhere between miffed and VERY miffed.

*Aziraphale goes off about Detective fiction and the story structure hitting just right and Holmes is like "EXCUSE me, but my friend is writing Incorrectly."

*Eventually Crowley wakes up and is squinting at everyone's neckties trying to figure out what's stylish this decade.

*Aziraphale's solution to Holmes poking his nose into his business (and getting a little Too Close to "this weird bookseller isn't human, actually") is to just. Erase their memories. This'll be fine, it's not like Holmes is famous for his mental faculties. he will absolutely not question the 6 recently used disguises, 3 pages of meticulous notes about the traffic in Soho, and 4 street urchins he's bribed to tell him when a specific bookstore opens. This problem is so incredibly solved!

*The problem is not solved. Subsequent attempts to convince Holmes that this is All Fine and Normal, Actually do not go well. He has to keep erasing their memories. Gabriel comes down and is like "hey man, what the fuck?" And Az is like "you don't understand. THESE PEOPLE WON'T STOP BOTHERING ME."

One surprising thing you notice about Malone when you talk to him one-on-one is that he’s actually very handsome. His blue eyes are expressive and friendly, and after a moment you see past the famous face tats and the grill and a traditionally attractive face emerges. 

He refers to himself as a “big, ugly kid” a few times in our conversation, and whether he believes that assessment or not, he exudes an air of self-deprecation.

You will also experience a new kind of cognitive dissonance when you talk to Post Malone, because it is legitimately strange to hear so many “sirs” and “ma’ams” and “pleases” and “thank yous” come out of a face with that many tattoos on it.
