hello! was it difficult to socialize hildegard? have you ever been bit? does it hurt?

ball pythons are generally extremely docile and highly recommended for beginner snake owners because they have basically no aggressive instincts. their standard operating procedure when they think they might be under attack is to hide, under their own butts if necessary. so in terms of socializing her it was mostly about taking a little self woven basket of noodle out of her terrarium and putting her on our ankles under a blanket and then waiting for her to slooooooowly relax and uncoil and start exploring. by now she is completely unafraid of us and doesn't even flinch when we pet her head unless she didn't know we were there (she doesn't see very well so she flinches easily from any sudden movement in the vicinity of her face, more from instinct than actual nervousness I think). she likes my boyfriend better than me because his body is APPARENTLY the perfect temperature for warming her little tummy on and she will squiggle around until she finds his leg and then pile herself up on his shin and fall asleep.

the only time either of us has been bitten is once when my boyfriend went to feed her and she accidentally struck his hand instead of the rat. (we consider this user error on our part and fairly easy to avoid with proper use of rat tongs.) she let go immediately (unlike when she accidentally struck a towel near the rat she was aiming for and decided to just try and eat the towel instead) and the injury was extremely minimal. teeny tiny pinpricks that only broke the skin because of the force of her strike. her teeth are soft and flexible, somewhat like toothbrush bristles, and she isn't venomous, so a bite isn't a big deal unless she is actively trying to swallow you whole, and even then it's mainly a problem for her. there are tips and tricks online for getting a really determined and misguided ball python to let go of something they have decided they are going to eat, including a finger, but I've never had to try any of them and even then I think for the finger in question it's more like being caught in one of those little finger trap toys than being devoured by a beast.

she's definitely the best and prettiest and most wonderful noodle in the whole world but other ball pythons are probably pretty good too

AU where siegfried is the father of hilde’s children 👀

Just to streamline things a bit, the children are born after the dissolution of Wolfkrone. To that end, Hilde's forces ally with Schwarzwind several years earlier.

Jumping back a little bit: Wilhelm died from infected wounds after the siege on Ostrheinsburg. Hilde still mourns him by the time she and Siegfried meet again. Over time, they start meeting more often in secret...

Hilde's firstborn is a redheaded son. The timing leads Hilde's retainers to take for granted that he's Wilhelm's posthumous son, so the boy becomes a symbol of hope for the kingdom. Suffice it say, Hilde can't bring herself to refute them in the moment. It gets rockier a few years later when her daughter is born with blonde hair.

There is, of course, a whole thing over (shock horror) the queen having children by a mercenary captain, mostly from Hilde's retainers. (Even if he is the son of a knight and even then...) Siegfried is... not wriggling his way out of that.

For the most part, the childrens' training is done with spear and short sword in the traditions of Wolfkrone (as best they can manage under the circumstances). Although Siegfried wouldn't say no if they wished to learn any other fighting styles. He'd still balk at either of them wanting to pick up anything the size of Requiem.

Sorry for leaving this one in the drafts for so long. My mind went a little all over the place just trying to keep this from becoming a wall of text. I debated on whether or not I would bring up Wilhelm for this at all, but even if I made up a different character for the same role, the end would be the same. I swear just about every fic I've read where Siegfried and Hilde get together took for granted that an entire kingdom would be okay with that and... I dunno, but the potential drama compels me more than anything.

Beyond filming and cast, there's nothing about The Cut. I may venture a guess that until a studio buys the rights and distribution, we won't get much else. It certainly looks like an independent venture and will be classified as such. It will be interesting to learn when and where it will premiere. I trust that if Cait chose the project it's another good choice and look forward to it. Thoughts?

What are your headcanons for sofia x hildagard

I haven't actually seen a lot of Sofia the First but I adore a privileged mean girl who is mildly obsessed with the protagonist and wants to impress her.

Young love is confusing and Hildegard does not seem very well adjusted as young kid but it would be really interesting to see her grow as she gets older and I could see a relationship blossoming from her childhood crush when she does.

Hildegard recovered her full memory after revisiting Melve. She was once an soldier-guard for Vermundian oxcarts, specifically task for the ones going in and out of the Checkpoint Rest Town. This also means she recovered her memories of human Kassandra, a Battahli mage with the same occupation but on Battahl's side, who was her best friend.

Pawn #2: Do they act any differently around other Arisen across the Rift?

Yes and no! Kassandra's will is guided by Hildegard's subconscious memory and emotions of human-Kass: protect everyone at all cost. This molded her whole being around that vestige, and she applies it to the letter when joining other Arisen and Pawns.

However, she's actually more open about her fledgling will and developing feelings for her master to those beyond the Rift. Afraid to let them get in the way of her tasks for Hildy, she tries her best to hide them, which ironically is a showcase of her volition.

World & Story #2: Which of the four residences is their most preferred, and is there a particular reason why? Do you have any headcanons about the layout and how it’s decorated? Or: Do they have alternative living quarters (a family home, sleeping at inns all the time, etc.)?

Hildy isn't one for city life, as she's always been on the move when she was working as an oxcart guard. The constant brouhaha of townsfolk stresses her out!

However, Bakbattahl's palace home fits her needs perfectly. It's secluded and one can hear the gentle sea breeze coming from the window. Despite being expensive, it still has a rustic charm to it. As she's accustomed to camping, a bit of rain going through the openings isn't an issue for her either.

If she were to decorate it any further, it would be to add her collection of weapons all over the walls with weapon racks. She loves weapons, particularly mystic spears and greatswords, but she'd also have a spot for Kassandra's weapons, should she wish to display any.

Hildegard does not know how to play an instrument but she can do ballroom dancing, though as a brigand, that's not quite helpful.

💤 SLEEPING SIGN — is your oc a light sleeper or a heavy sleeper? how are their sleeping habits?

She is a light sleeper, always ready to fight or flight when she wakes up. Usually she sleeps fully clothed, even with boots! Unless she has a proper bed for once, then she doesn't want to get it dirty. Her Gambeson is usually used as a blanket and her fur is used as a pillow.

Cats, she adores how nobody can force them to do anything and everybody loves them regardless. Also, fierce hunters!

A phoenix, because fire and freedom of a bid and the sign of rebirth just like she was reborn when she set her families estate on fire

In his natural habitat, he would be more spontaneous, but since he is trained to follow plans and how to plan, he feels kind of lost if there is no plan.

He has the habit of chewing on his quills when he writes and no one ever managed to train that out of him. And he bounces his foot when he is idle. When he is laying in bed and ready to sleep, he won't lay still, he has to change positions 500 times until he really falls asleep.

Kai was very ooc in legacies when they said he was coming back we all dreaded it and our worries why was confirmed alaric had access to his prison world and had some of bonnie blood so he sent students he couldn't control there as punishment kai was hooking up with one of them she's a white gay vampire and bonnie was barely mentioned her name was said once and he smiled mostly she was kind of hinted at a few times

walks back in with a comfortable chair and snacks. i am having SUCH a good time reading all of these,,, and also i DO want to know abt how hilde feels abt hermes and lahabrea. wait hold on i have an idea for a second ask,

giggles. the hermes one is suchhhhhh a toughie. not to answer but like. ouhhh hilde is feeling some kinds of ways about hermes (& fandaniel subsequently)! oooooh!

goddd hermes. arguably the person who treated him with the most respect among the ancients... or at least the one who treated him with respect the fastest. it felt like there was a genuine understanding there, & especially as hermes opened up on his feelings wrt elpis & life & death & his clear capacity for grief the others seemed to be lacking (which. i mean you know hildegarde. he has been making out with grief sloppy style for so many fucking years. emet & hythlodaeus being so fine with death, even of "lesser creatures" since hilde does not have that concept really of viewing some beings as more or less important, really threw him off. but especially knowing the emet he knew. also known griever.). hermes was the first person on elpis that made him go "wait, maybe i could tell him. maybe if i told him things would go differently." before remembering that that is literally impossible he cannot change his present only his future. Sad! either way though he did feel a connection to hermes, which. is also bc lachesis & hermes were close.

& then hermes fucked it & successfully traumatised hildegarde further 🎉 needless to say he uh. did not feel so positively about him for a while but admittedly he wasn't feeling positively about Anybody during that time probably. likely clung to nero & ardbert for a semblance of stability & nero wasnt even around so ardbert had to go out & seek him out on hildes behalf bc he was too withdrawn & in shock to front.

i think though after everything especially with aitiascope & all that he's just. yknow. he's not a grudge holder... not on those matters anyway. he forgives very easily bc he just. he's very emotional & very easily swayed by other people's emotions. i don't want to say hyperempathetic but honestly i think that might be the case ... very hard for him to stay mad at someone very seriously under most circumstances too. he wasn't even that mad at zenos honestly he just wanted zenos to come off it & would've preferred a peaceful resolution both times. at the end of the day hildegarde feels deep sorrow for hermes the same way he does elidibus among others. above all else he wishes he could've done something before it was too late. hermes was a friend & one of many hilde feels he's failed.

with lahabrea it's... he feels a lot of pity for lahabrea? also respect. he's one of those people he's now met before the final days & the sundering happened & the memory of lahabrea in his mind is just... lahabrea during ancient times. thinking about what ended up becoming of him makes him feel some guilt in the sense that obviously he does not have foresight & couldn't have known he would end up meeting lahabrea in the past, but part of him still blames himself for not knowing because if he had maybe he could've reached out to lahabrea in a meaningful way & he didn't have to die blablabla... the usual. i think he's probably a little intimidated at first but as pandaemonium progresses more of lachesis' dynamic with lahabrea instinctively comes back to him. & he's kinda. just being lahabrea's weird friend. like it still feels more formal than the dynamic lachesis had with laha back then but yeah. eek. yet another tragedy hilde feels responsible for YAHOOOOO

What do you think of Nora and Mary Louise as a couple?

I want to like them so badly because TVDU gives us almost no sapphic representation. The ones we do have are deeply problematic. I have to rewrite so much of Freelin's relationship in my head to enjoy them.

But, if there's one thing I'm going to do, it's rewrite TVDU.

Mary Louise and Nora are both pretty bad people and they have a fairly toxic relationship. But who doesn't in TVDU? I do struggle to love either of their characters because they seem to enjoy harming and torturing people with little remorse or reason. It's just not my preference for characters.

Hot take, but I didn't hate Mary Louise the way I feel a lot of the fandom does. I thought it was interesting that they allowed her to still have trauma from being queer in the 1800/1900s. The show often pulls characters from other decades and they just immediately fit in. Like Finn in TO when he's brought back from the dead can magically impersonate a professor and navigate the 21st century after having missed 900 years of advancements. It would make sense for a character who has faced hate and persecution their whole lives to be hesitant to be loud and proud of being queer. Although, I wish they wouldn't just have used it as a conflict in their relationship.

I tend to hear a lot of misogynistic language around both of them as well. I don't particularly love them, but even people who like male characters like them (Damon, Klaus, Kai) hate them. Women in this fandom can't win. Elena is called a "crybaby" for showing emotions and Mary Louise is called a "stone cold bitch" for not showing her emotions.

We also just don't get a lot of their relationship. They are only in half a season and spend most of it being at odds with each other. They are both insecure in their own ways and are struggling to adapt to the new world they find themselves in. One issue I really had was Nora trying to force Mary Louise to fit in to the 21st century. Her forcing Mary Louise to dress in more sexual clothes will never sit right with me. Especially because it felt very centered on the male gaze.

I do like that we see them try to grow and evolve for each other. They do seem to be very different people but that is not always a bad thing. I think if we could have seen more of their history together it would have made the audience root for them more. They entered the show having issues and never really seemed to get on the same page as each other except when one of them is in danger and then they are very protective. Without seeing their history, it seemed as if the show was just forcing them to stay together despite everything pushing them apart. They had a lot of cute moments, but it felt like we were just catching a glimpse of this complex love story. Given more time, they could have found their footing and been a ship I really rooted for. Again, there's just so much work the fandom was forced to do because the writers couldn't be bothered.

And of course they fall into the "bury your gays" trope. Their death to me doesn't make a whole lot of sense. Are you telling me they couldn't perform the spell to destroy the sword without blowing themselves up in the process? If they knew a spell to destroy it, it seems like there should be other options.

I would honestly need to rewatch season 7 to see if I would change my mind because it has been a while.

Without further ado, I choose: Siegfried x Hilde!

I've wavered on this one over the years in that I liked it more early on. Then sometimes I felt it, sometimes I didn't. Now it's a platonic ship at most to me. I get the appeal; I just don't think I can write it as anything else. (Biased? Me? Naaaah.)

I've circled the second square in the second row because that's pretty much me reacting to Hilde forgiving Siegfried in her SC4 ending. The one where he was prepared to die by her hand for his wrongs. Honestly, I love that for her. She had deeply personal reasons for wanting to defeat Nightmare, what with her father being made violently insane and her having a whole kingdom to keep together because of that... And she let Siegfried live after he sacrificed any semblance of a normal life in order to atone. It gives some extra meaning to his line "To live... That is my redemption."

I might've gotten carried away there, but that's easily one of my favorite moments in the series. When both their character beats hit just right at the end...

Anyway, not to rub it in, but one of the relationship charts in New Legends of Project Soul did label them as "allied" and nowhere was it even implied that Siegfried was the father of Hilde's children. Just getting that out of my system. I have a whole fic revolving around Siegfried having been born a bastard; do not give me ideas.

ANYWAY ooh man i have some things to say.

truth be told in all my years of being in the SC fandom i'd never really given much thought to them as a pairing. there's like what, one (1) fic of them on ffnet?

sidebar: when i finally got around to playing SC5 and hearing the special dialogues i immediately hopped on the pyrrha x tira train. i know it's all kinds of sick dysfunctional and twisted and problematic™️ and that's exactly what i love about it, 17/18 year old me went hogwild with writing my first ever fic about them [redacted of course] , and drawing/looking at fanart between dA and tumblr. when i told my brother that i shipped them, he asked me if i thought tira killed jurgis out of possessiveness 😂

but thanks again to the dialogue in SC6, my taste/imagination expanded and Tilde (i'm probably the only person calling it that) has crept up on me. in my heart it's still not above PyTi but it's still a really good ship, and an unquestionably healthier dynamic. hilde is definitely the type to not get pushed around by anyone, so it's interesting to me to see a character that'd stand up to tira without fear. it's also fun for me to think about who would top

it intrigues me to see their similarities: vague Germanic background, closeness in age, same height, having a mole on their face, forced to mature at an early age re: the death of their parental figure. but where hilde has her support system and the privileges of nobility, tira had nothing to fall back on and devoted herself to soul edge; which as we can see from her SC4 story is ultimately a long game suicide taking the world with it. kinda like what i said about tira's commonalities with amy, i'm very interested to see how they could potentially mesh in canon. i don't see tira ever becoming one of The Good Guys but i think if hilde were to deeply interact with her and give a stern talk like she did for siegfried, she could probably shift to a more nuanced/morally gray alignment which would be a lot more rounded than the Anime Henchwoman role she keeps getting pigeonholed into knowing PS i won't get my hopes up but I Can Dream.

for the purpose of my modern au fic i've taken some liberties and looseness in how i'm writing them, so it's probably not a 1:1 of how they would actually act but i just had a mighty need for them to get under each other's skin and eventually grow close enough to show each other's vulnerabilities.
