Remember the Opening Ceremony on the 2008 Beijing Olympics.
A fitting 2,008-strong ensemble of drummers took to the stadium, each armed with an individual bronze Fou drum. The Fou drum is an ancient Chinese percussion instrument, once used in ritual music. As they pound their drums, the players chant in unison.

You cannot celebrate Mid-Autumn Festival (中秋节) without mentioning Lanterns (灯笼). In the olden days, these lanterns were made with colourful cellophane, glass or plain papers and hand-painted by craftsmen. They come in the shapes of animal, flora or mystical beast like dragon and phoenix and are lit by candles. Modern day lanterns can include characters from movies or Japanese animations and are made with plastic. They are powered by LEDs and batteries which are more suitable for younger audience due to no open flame.

Most unbelievable thing about this show is that Chimney, raised by native Korean parents and then semi adopted by more Asian parents (I think they’re Korean too but I can’t find anything on the wiki confirming), wears shoes in his house and acts confused when their nanny discourages him from doing it.

"But the smoke clears when you're around
Won't you stay with me, my darling?"
(from Curses - The Crane Wives)
Some personal stuff under the cut.
Grieving.
Which I am currently doing, so here's a vent art (kind of). To be put in grief so suddenly is something I'd never wish upon anyone, but life is difficult and unpredictable like that. I can't even begin to fathom how Chichi felt when she became a widow all of a sudden, if expecting to lose a family member already hurt this much.
It does hit different when you used to look for references of family altars for that one Mother's Day sketch, and now you've already been around the thing yourself often enough to draw from experience 🥲

The Sun and Moon Pagodas in Guilin, China (photo by Nathan Ackley)
Sun & Moon Twin Pagodas are one of the greatest attractions in Guilin, situated in Shanhu (Shan Lake).
The word sun and moon in Chinese character written together meant brightness. They are also known as Gold and Silver Pagodas because of their colors at night. They stand next to each other reflecting the beauty of each other.
Originally built in Guilin's moat during the Tang dynasty, these tiered towers were reconstructed in 2001 and now they are a tourist site combining culture, art, religion, and architecture, technology, and natural landscape.
The "Sun" Pagoda is constructed with copper; it has 9 floors and reaches a height of 41 metres. The "Moon" Pagoda's construction is made of marble; it has 7 floors and measuring 35 meters high. The two pagodas are connected via a tunnel at the bottom of the lake.
From the Moon Pagoda to the Sun Pagoda, there is a 10-meter glass tunnel that links the two under water. When walking through the tunnel, one can see the fish above the head and on both sides.
