Thoughts on casskon and timkon?

I am neutral on TimKon. I don't particularly love it, but it's impossible to escape if you participate in fandom and I'm more than willing to admit that it makes logical sense given Tim and Kon's canon interactions. I tend to prefer the flavor of TimKon that is "Tim's unrequited crush on Kon" though.

CassKon had some of the most painfully "quick, force both characters into a compulsory heterosexual relationship with each other" interactions on the planet. They are far better off as friends and I'm glad I only had to deal with that for like 2 issues.

Conceptually I think the far funnier dynamic to explore in that era would have been Kon and Steph, who COULD have been really fun as a casual "flirting with no intent to follow through specifically because it annoys Tim to death" dynamic. Unfortunately the mid-2000s Bat editors hated women too much to let us have fun and made Kon hate Steph for taking Tim's place as Robin instead :/

Bruce: closeted homosexuality, despite the skin tight leather I actually did wind out settling on the idea that Batman is the het masking and Bruce is the true queer self

Dick: out/open homosexuality

Cass: aromantic allosexuality or transgender

Jason: demisexuality

Tim: bisexuality

Steph: pansexuality

Damian: aromantic asexuality

Duke: heteroromantic asexuality

Note this does NOT equate to my actual headcanons for their orientations, that's in the tags, it's about the way I associate their stories with the way people see and/or experience different queer/lgbt+ orientations. Reblog with your own thoughts on how you think their stories could be allegories for diff queer identities if you want! If you're cooler than me you could put some reasonings, instead of just the horrifying realization that they might've been right when they said Batman was the hetero to Bruce's homo

🌾🌿💦 for cass oc? (yes i know O.C. is just how you tag them but 'cass oh-see' has a nice ring to it)

🌿 What way does your OC show that they care without using words? What way do others show your OC that they’re cared about without using speech? If Cass is showing genuine care at all, it's going to be nonverbal. In fact, if she can help it at all, it's going to be remote and anonymous too. What I'm getting at is they tend to go for sending people gifts, or orchestrating help of some kind for them, so that she doesn't have to be there themself. She feels that if she wants to be sincere, she has to remove the temptation to ruin it that participating in person would put before them. As for others' affection towards her- she tends to stay emotionally distant from people, so there aren't many who get the chance, but she's surprisingly receptive of physical affection, given her general demeanor. I've mentioned before that they did Not get enough hugs as a kid, or attention period, and sincere relationships in their adult life have been few and far between, so basically they are wicked touch starved. Also, the way they see it, talk is cheap but touch has no inherent meaning- so you can't be lied to by a hug unless you lie to yourself, which makes it 'safer' in their mind than affectionate words.

💦 If you as the writer could erase one traumatic event from this OC’s life what would it be and why? I have this problem where I like to be really mean to my characters because I think their pain makes them more interesting, so it's hard for me to pick a trauma to take away that I don't also see as like. integral to the character. Like, obviously letting Cass have a Normal Fledglinghood instead of being locked in an apartment with their abusive gf/sire for like 4 years would probably do the most good for her, but it would also fundamentally change that initial impression of kindred society that informs almost everything about how they interact with it now that they have their freedom. Same goes for the childhood neglect and her outlook on human society. So I have to look smaller, like maybe letting her have a less terrifying first experience of the madness network.
