Why s2 will set viktor up as the future main antagonists for piltover and zaun after arcane.

(this is less of a thematic analysis and more of a meta one about the marketing and worldbuilding they did so far and probably do in the future. no le*ks)

First, let's ask the question, why is arcane canon? yes money but beyond that looking at where s1 left the characters off, it was quite oblivious if they only wanted 1 more season (which they said even after s1 came out), they can not finish every ones story properly.

They got to pick between letting it stay unfinished, more seasons, or making it canon so they can get back to it later.

And we know which they picked.

They wanted to use their popular show to function as an entry point for this universe/brand.

And this is the second important question to note: what's arcanes purpose?

Yes to be a good show, but let's not be naive, they want to sell you their universe, they want you to play the games and watch the shows and read their books.

So s2 will end with a hook. The storie of the 2 sisters may be over for now, but they want u to come back, so some tangible conflict for the future will be set up.

And we know that they already using arcane to set up future major players in the universe.

But then why cant ambessa fill that role for the future? they pushing her so hard.

Well, the book summary kinda gives it away.

After arcane she wont gonna stay as key player in pnz, she will be a key player in noxus, as an adversary for swain.

So who or what could work as setted up future antagonist, someone who commands enough power to be a real threat for the cities?

Silco - is dead

Warwick - dangerous but couldn't bend an entire city

Singed - he doesn't organise people in a way that would be a problem

Jinx - by the end of the show her story is probably finished for a while

Ambessa - the conflict with her is also finished for at least while

other then them pnz had prominent antagonists before like Renata Urgot or Camille, but with the rewrites they not only exist in a limbo, but if they goal with arcane is to bring in new fans, they would use an existing character in the show to fill that role.

and even though I think noxus will be presented as a continuous threat, (even in the previous lore it said noxus wanted to take over piltover and it even had a strong relationship with zaun but) the main one will be something else to switch things up.

So we are left with one glorious man who is the best candidate for the job.

Not only it wouldn't make sense for his story to conclude yet since even in s1 it was oblivious his story is only beginning, but it would make a lot of sense if they spend the series setting up the next big villain, in a way casual watchers didn't even realize.

It looks like they going strong with the cultist angel which means:

he has a considerable amount of manpower he can command

by himself he is capable of magic

and it is very likely when he changes people's bodies he will have some control over them.

Which means he will most likely end up in the perfect position to take over this role, the marketing and release dates also seems to be align with this.

First they teased the main villain for the series with her release to properly build up hype.

But I suspect when the show kicks into full gear they will switch their markething around and promote the 3 main women and thats when most likely they legendaries drop.

legends of runaterra pretty much confirmed this. They using Ambessa to promote the beginning of the series release (prologue), we have a middle that will most likely feature most prominently jinx, vi and caitlin, and then an epilogue that sets up future things.

The same way they wanted to drop Ambessa everywhere in a relatively short time frame, we could expect the same treatment for the Viktor vgu next month, which would align with the epilogue celebration in december.

Which will most likely feature jayce and viktor. Not only they have been absent from the promotion so far, they will both receive confirmed legendaries, and the hex cores present is continuously alluded to in marketing.

I believe this indicates that they have big plans for them, and in a way that will be a surprise for both newcomers and old fans, this is why they are so secretive about them.

And thats because the 3. act and the epilogue of arcane will set viktor up as the next main antagonist of pnz.

this is not an exhaustive list, just some things that i personally noticed!

1.) probably the most obvious is the scene where he cures the men who are about to rob him using the hex core's power. this is very clearly a reference to jesus curing people with leprosy, something which appears in the gospels of matthew, luke, and mark. in mark and luke, healing the man has some negative consequences for jesus and i wonder if we will see that play out for viktor in arc 2?

2.) Another thing I noticed is the specifically blue coak that viktor wears. mary is almost always seen wearing blue, typically a blue cloak. i thought at first that this was tied somehow to viktor being symbolic of mary, but actually i think it's more about jayce being mary.

first, we see jayce carrying viktor in a pose similar to michelangelo's pieta, probably the most famous artistic depiction of mary and jesus of all time.

secondly, jayce is the one who gives viktor his cloak. mary's blue robes are often used a symbol of purity and virginity, or more specifically, her ability to birth jesus without sin or conception, aka immaculate conception. jayce, in a roundabout way, did the same for viktor. while he obviously did not give birth to viktor, he metaphorically did, by saving him with the sort of "womb" of the hex core.

3.) There are a few different moments that feel like nods to various catholic saints. the one that i noticed on a first watch was viktor striking the pose of st paul/paul the apostle during the break up scene with jayce. st paul typically holds a book and a sword (though here, viktor is holding his cane like the sword instead).

i'm not really sure what this is meant to mean tbh. st paul is the patron of missionaries, and is known for being influential in spreading catholicism, so maybe it's a reference to how viktor is going to spread hextech, or his own beliefs to his followers?

4.) light and halos are both incredibly important in catholic art and imagery. jesus, as well as saints and other important figures, are often depicted with circular halos around their heads, like angels. light is also often used as a symbol for god's knowledge or favor being shed on someone. in a ton of viktor's scene's, he is visibly more lit up than other people on screen, and there is this scene where he appears to have a halo, which a lot of people have pointed out.

Riz "The Ball" Gukgak, is green cuz he's a goblin, and a nerd. He starts out as a "Teen Detective" kid, investigating the disappearance of the missing girls in Elmville, cuz one of the missing girls is his old babysitter, aka his only friend before the show starts. He later graduates in the "James Bond Wannabe" Kid. He starts accessorizing and experimenting with his outfit, but because he's a nerd and self conscious he's constantly trying to justify it by making everything some kind of gadget and saying that it's all for the sake of utility in order to deflect any judgement. Also, before you think the nickname "The Ball" is cool, he got it because when he tried to join the sport team, the school jock said that the only position he could play was the ball, and proceeded to throw him like a ball. Dimension 20 is a D&D actual play show, Riz Gukgak is one of the player character, his player being Brian Murphy, who is a nerd himself. He's also the rogue, starting with the Inquisitive subclass, aka the nerd subclass, and later changes to the Arcane Trickster subclass, aka the slightly cooler nerd subclass. He's a nerd being played by a nerd as the nerd class with the nerd subclass, formerly the other nerd subclass, in the nerd game.

He's a green goblin who is obsessed with solving mysteries and making clue boards

Goblin (green). Middle school nickname was Briefcase Kid. Still carries that briefcase. Is a licensed PI. Definitely the (non-magic) brains of his adventuring party.

he made business cards to give to potential friends on his first day of school. he is a self proclaimed private investigator. he carries around a fucking briefcase to HIGH SCHOOL. what hasn’t this guy done. Sure he does a lot of cool stuff but this is what matters.

I love him, he is such a nerd, straight A student with an impeccable knowledge of the world he lives in, he is also literally a goblin, and thus the colour green. He’s also aro so green in the flag

Beatrice I

In a cramped, filthy apartment, surrounded by food scraps of various types, a woman dressed in all gray and with visible bags under her eyes sat hunched over a half-broken ThinkPad. As she observed the green-tinted imageboard that was currently displayed on the screen and mulled over its contents, a cheeto-covered hand shot down onto the keyboard - its left counterpart busy shoveling more cheese puffs down the woman's throat. At the top of the website, a large banner image decorated with various pyramids and eyes read,

“/OC/ - OCCULT & ARCANE”

With a swift move of her free hand she moved the mouse cursor to a small rectangle labelled “REPLY”. She clicked on it, and a large text box appeared on the screen. Moments later, she began writing. 

"Look, personally, this is all very interesting, but I think you're putting too much emphasis on the contents of the dreams, rather than WHEN they're happening. The Age of Aquarius is coming soon, which means what you're hearing is obviously some higher form of Enochian, and at BEST it's probably demons."

Another argument saved, she thought to herself as she scrolled up to the top of the thread and started rereading what had started off the whole discussion. 

TITLE: NIGHTMARES?

DESCRIPTION:

“hello /OC/ !! ever since i was a teen ive been having weird dreams almost every night. ive never really thought about them deeply but maybe one of you /oc/cultists could help me figure out whats going on, so here goes nothing. theyre varied and have shifted over the years but theres some common elements i can guess will always come up when i fall asleep. the most notable though is the language. its not really a language, but really a feeling? but ive always thought about it as one. i see visions of random things, and i associate it with a thing, and sometimes hear a sound or feel an emotion, but its all so random i can never make sense of it.

i see a mountain and i hear what sounds like a clock ticking. then im struck with a feeling of euphoria and i see the mountain melting into a valley. i see an apple. then two, then four, then six and eight and twenty, and with each new one im struck with a feeling of absolute dread. i see the planet, and i see a very large worm crawling out of it while a pop song is playing. melancholy. i dont know what it means, but it clearly means something, and ive spent the last couple years trying it out but im not getting anywhere on my own. please help me.”

Nothing she hadn’t seen before, though the thought of there being a pattern in what at first seemed like just random noise intrigued her more than she perhaps at first would have liked to admit. Scrolling down to the bottom again, she passed by several more snippets of dreams that the author had posted in response to people asking for more details.

A house burning in reverse, wind chimes, deep insatiable lust. smell of blood. then the entire thing plays in reverse again.

A woman she didn't recognize that gradually morphed into a lawn chair, combined with a chemical smell.

Screaming for several straight seconds until she woke up in a cold sweat, with no other associated imagery.

Naturally, the thread was filled with hundreds of other people speculating about what it could possibly mean and arguing with each other, the cheeto-covered woman only being one of them - not even being the first to suggest that it might be the language of the angels. One particularly persistent user kept spamming links to their self-published e-book about "Dream Linguistics: The Hidden Language of the Unconscious Mind." Another claimed they'd had the exact same dreams in 1987 and that they predicted the stock market crash that year.

"Classic hypnagogic hallucinations combined with sleep paralysis. Take some magnesium and try sleeping on your right side."

"The worm is obviously Ouroboros imagery, but inverted. Have you been experimenting with any chaos magick recently? IMPORTANT."

"Sounds like standard astral projection gone wrong. I can help but you'll need to wire me 500 crowns first for the proper materials."

"Anyone who says this isn't related to the planetary alignments is a fed or a fool. Look up the Ophiuchus Protocol."

The person at the computer finished scrolling down to the bottom, and hit refresh. The page took a bit to reload, but when it finished, there was a new reply.

“hey everyone, OP here. I really appreciate all the help, and youve all been really wonderful, but im gonna stop replying now. its late, and i need to get to sleep. im still not really sure what all the dreams are but i do feel somewhat closer to an answer. good night !!”

Over so soon after I found it, the woman thought to herself. 

Disappointing.

Upon having read it over a few times, she closed her laptop with a sigh, and laid down on it with her arms folded. Without the light of the laptop screen the room was pitch black - no lights were on, nothing shining in from the open windows subtly guiding the cool night air into the 11th floor apartment. If they were on, perhaps you'd be able to see the absolute mess on the floor. The scattered clothes, the filthy, days-old dishes stacked on the floor after they stopped fitting on the desk, the even older takeout containers and miscellaneous beer bottles. The occasional discarded cigarette pack, some visibly crushed. 

Here and there, evidence of her various obsessions littered the floor - tarot cards scattered like fallen leaves, crystals gathering dust in the corners, half-burned candles dripped onto printouts of ancient symbols. A dream journal lay open on the coffee table, its pages covered in cramped handwriting that grew increasingly erratic towards the margins. Books on symbolism and mythology formed precarious towers against the walls, their spines cracked from repeated consultation.

In the entrance hallway, having been covered by the same jacket for several weeks, there laid an unopened letter.

A personalized hell, of sorts. 

As if straining against the dark itself, Beatrice raised herself up slowly and stretched for a few seconds, before letting her arms fall down again. She stared dead-eyed into the wall that had previously been blocked by her laptop screen, and then got up. Carefully, as to not step on anything that'd puncture her feet or make her slip, she walked through the apartment and out the open door onto her balcony - if it could even be called that. In truth, it was far too small, and only had barely enough space for someone to stand on. Her bare feet hit the outside exposed concrete, and she rested her arms on the metal of the outcropping, taking in the city outside.

It was beautiful, and so, so very large. Saint Vincent was one of the largest cities on the Magellanic east coast, and the cultural and economic capital of the Federation of Victoria, only surpassed by true giants such as Goldbridge and Sun City. Beatrice's apartment building, situated at the top of the large hill the city was built on, had a perfect view of its enormous, sprawling mass - The May Bridge on the far side, going into Greater Toone, and before that, all the various city districts;

There was Bayside right near the bridge, with its tall, imposing financial skyscrapers and the mayoral tower somehow towering above all of them, in turn bordered by The Lows and Little Vincent - the “rich kid’s club” - districts characterized by their large hotels, casinos and multi million-crown expensive mega-mansions that faced the bay. Go back in the direction you came from and you'd eventually reach Huttons, the former cultural and artistic center of the city, but whose prices were now rising to the point that it was becoming almost impossible for any actual artists to live there, although it still had some of the best bars in the city. In recent years there'd been sporadic attempts to de-gentrify it, but naturally all of those had failed at the hands of the very wealthy investors in the district who didn't want “criminals” to move in. 

Bordering Huttons was Bayside again, Central, characterized mostly by being home to the city's train hub and university - named, predictably enough, Vincent university - and the Lower Hills, where Beatrice currently resided. Beyond even here there was the Upper Hills, Teodora and the industrial district - colloquially called the smogs - and eventually Outer Vincent with its large, sprawling suburbia.

But really, who cares about a bunch of faceless smoke stacks and single family homes, Beatrice thought to herself. 

A cigarette was lit, the flame of her cheap lighter briefly illuminating her sunken face in the darkness. For a couple minutes, she stayed like that, silent, observing. It was a beautiful star-lit night, occasionally interrupted by something new from below - a cough, a shout, a police siren. More distant bangs than was perhaps usual. The kids playing down on the street below, their giggles and laughter softly echoing up to her.

A car whizzed by, its bright lights cutting through the night like knives through butter. 

The city breathed around her, alive with all its secret rhythms and hidden patterns, indifferent to her presence on the edge of it all. 

Eventually, with a sigh, Beatrice threw the cigarette over the edge and walked back into her pitch-black apartment, the door closing behind her with a soft thud. She stood there for a long moment, the door hard against her back, when suddenly, something echoed out and disturbed the dark stillness of the apartment. A pling, just once. Then again - pling.  It took her a moment to figure out what it was, and then, it hit.

My phone? Is someone trying to contact me? Fuck off… when was the last time I heard that sound? I should set it on do not disturb when I can…

Lumbering slowly, she made her way through the apartment, into the bedroom where her phone was sitting on a bedside table. Picking it up and holding it in her hand her first thought went to spam, and a soft irritation started growing inside her - then, however, she properly read the messages, and that irritation rapidly shifted into something resembling curiosity. 

“BEATRICE SCHWARZ: YOU have been graciously selected for an invitation to a ONCE IN AN AEON OPPORTUNITY. At VICTORIA MEMORIAL PARK, on the TWENTY-SECOND of NOVEMBER in the year 235, at 23:00, the GREAT SERENISSIMA will give YOU AN EXPERIENCE YOU CAN NEVER FORGET. (entrance fee: 50 crowns.)”

What is this, a circus or something?, Beatrice thought incredulously. She looked at the time. 

22:27.

Shit. 

Panicking, she rushed out into the hallway and put on the dirty, crumpled jacket that laid near the door. Five minutes later, she was down on the street.

As she walked, the city's geography unfolded around her like a well-worn map. She passed by the 24-hour laundromat with its eternal fluorescent glow, through the small park where the local cats held their midnight conferences, across the bridge over the commuter rail tracks that carried thousands of suburban workers into Central each morning. Each landmark, though familiar to her, simultaneously felt oddly strange - like seeing old friends again, an uncomfortable kind of nostalgia. It made her yearn for the comfort of her apartment again, though curiosity overpowered her every step of the way. 

The neon sign of Lucky's Corner Store buzzed and flickered as she walked by, its proprietor visible through the grimy windows, engaged in his nightly ritual of reorganizing the same shelf of canned goods he'd been fussing with for the past decade. She'd bought her first tarot deck there, hidden behind the counter with the cigarettes and lottery tickets. Mr. Lucky – not his real name, she assumed – had given her a knowing look as he rang it up, but never commented on her increasingly esoteric purchases she'd made over the years.

Victoria Memorial Park sat at the intersection of old money and new decay, a remnant of the city's more genteel past now caught in the undertow of urban change. During the day, it maintained a careful veneer of respectability with its manicured lawns and historical plaques. But at night, the old iron gates and overgrown corners revealed its true nature – a place where the city's carefully maintained boundaries began to blur.

As she approached the park's entrance, movement caught her eye – others were converging on the park from different directions. A woman in an expensive business suit, her heels clicking purposefully on the pavement. A teenager with a backpack covered in hand-drawn symbols. An elderly man leaning on a carved wooden cane that looked more ceremonial than practical. None of them acknowledged each other, but all moved with the same deliberate purpose.

The park's central lawn opened up before her, and there, in the soft glow of the antique lampposts, she saw them. Arranged in a perfect circle were perhaps two dozen people, seated on the ground. They were as diverse a group as Saint Vincent could produce – she spotted suits that probably cost more than her monthly rent sitting next to tattered thrift store jackets, gray-haired professors next to teenagers with dyed hair and facial piercings. Some sat straight-backed and alert, while others seemed to slouch with exhaustion or disinterest. All of them, however, faced inward, their attention focused on something in the center of the circle that Bea couldn't quite make out from her current position.

The air felt different here – thicker somehow, charged with an expectation that made the hair on the back of Bea's neck stand up. Well, hello Tumblr in general and writeblr in particular! Had this account for a while (Branding is important), and with the return of my enter key I can actually format this stuff appropriately!

So heya! I'm Cecelia/ClearedPipes, I'm British and all of 23 years old! I use she/her pronouns, and am an employed individual (So may not be available 24/7).

I read the Hunger Games for the first time at 12, and have spent a hell of a long time since (from ~15) reading the fanfiction people produce! I started properly publishing it in June of 2024, and that's (not) all she wrote)! My AO3 and FFN accounts are both ClearedPipes, and how I got to that name is courtesy of a not so long story I've prepared to post on Friday, June 13th 2025 (my 1 year anniversary)I am also a District 1 (Hunger Games) enthusiast, so treat that as you will!

Outside of the Hunger Games, well. I'm soon to be engaged to a lovely woman, my favourite musical artists are too diverse to talk about in certainty (Amelie Farren, Nightwish and Ramin Djawadi being my 3 most listened artists speaks to this), and my favourite books are Angels and Demons, The Hunger Games (hope you'd expected this) and the ASOIAF set. Stannis Baratheon haters DNI (For legal reasons this is a joke).

In visual media, my favourite movies are The Rock (1996), National Treasure 1/2 and the first 4 Pirates of the Caribbean because 5 is... also there. My favourite shows are Game of Thrones, The X-Files, Doctor Who and Andor (Arcane is also up there)

I'd expect most of you are here for the writing, which I do way too much of. I've got a few active projects at the moment (Albeit have fully handled one of them and got it all predone), so that's fun! Turn Me Into a Goddess - Part 1

This is Part One, Part Two's Soon

The party had been going on for some time when Katelynne slammed down her wine cooler and said "I HAVE THE GREATEST IDEA" and snuck into her room-mates bedroom. Emerging with a tatty old notebook, she showed it off to the collection of college girls that made up her friendship, all drunk, some high, mostly dressed in pink.

"My room mate has a SPELL BOOK. She does WITCHCRAFT!!!"

There were gasps and oohs, but Brandie asked the question they were all thinking, "But she used to be a dude. Guys can't be witches!" Katelynne hit Brandie with the book, "Ugh, shut up bitch!" She sat down to find a fun spell to cast.

The girls shuffled around as she shaped them into a circle. "Is this gonna be like that old movie The Craft? Because those witches were cool." Stace asked.

Katelynne flicked through the notebook and read out the spells, as the other girls gathered around, 'This one says invoking feminine power, opening your third eye… that's gross. Communicate with angels, lame… OH MY GOD, YOU GUYS! This spell says Turn Me into a GODDESS! Go get me some candles!!! And some of the shitty incense she keeps on top of the fridge! I wanna be a goddess!"

Katelynne read the spell, it was a complicated incantation with a lot of strange movements and even a bit involving putting her nipple into a candle flame. Normally, she wouldn't, but she'd drunk rum, vodka and wine tonight and was game for anything.

"How do even know she had this?" Stace asked.

"Oh, I totally go through Hera's shit all the time. She's weird, but her taste in makeup is fire. OK, everyone shut up, I'm gonna try this. I think I'll be the goddess of… nice hair."

Katelynne asked for the lights to be turned out as she lit the candles and started chanting, it was not in English but the spell had a convenient pronunciation guide. She stood and wafted incense around her, her drunk friends sat in a circle, enraptured by the performance.

She ripped her top off, as demanded by the spell and waved a lit candle in front of her, as if possessed by the arcane foreign words she spoke.

Cathy had always crushed on Katelynne and drank up the sight of her bare chest.

Katelynne blew out the candle and concluded the spell, waiting for something to happen.

Noone said anything, barely breathing, but they all felt a shiver in their souls that something, somewhere had happened.

Warlock (5.5e)

Warlocks quest for knowledge that lies hidden in the fabric of the multiverse. They often begin their search for magical power by delving into tomes of forbidden lore, dabbling in invocations meant to attract the power of extraplanar beings, or seeking places of power where the influence of these beings can be felt. In no time, each Warlock is drawn into a binding pact with a powerful patron. Drawing on the ancient knowledge of beings such as Angels, Archfey, Demons, Devils, Hags, and alien entities of the Far Realm, Warlocks piece together arcane secrets to bolster their own power.

Warlocks view their patrons as resources, as means to the end of achieving magical power. Some Warlocks respect, revere, or even love their patrons; some serve their patrons grudgingly; and some seek to undermine their patrons even as they wield the power their patrons have given them.

Once a pact is made, a Warlock’s thirst for knowledge and power can’t be slaked with mere study. Most Warlocks spend their days pursuing greater power and deeper knowledge, which typically means some kind of adventure.

Saving Throw Proficiencies: Wisdom and Charisma

Skill Proficiencies: Choose 2: Arcana, Deception, History, Investigation, Nature or Religion

Starting Equipment: Choose between (A) Leather Armor, Sickle, 2 Daggers, Arcane Focus (orb), Book (Occult Lore), Scholar's Pack and 15 Gold Pieces or B 100 Gold Pieces to buy yourself starting equipment

Your proficiency bonus is +2 at level 1, +3 at level 5, +4 at level 9, +5 at level 13 and +6 at level 17.

Level 1 Eldritch Invocations: You have unearthed Eldritch Invocations pieces of forbidden knowledge that imbue you with an abiding magical ability or other lessons. You gain one invocation of your choice, such as Pact of the Tome..

Prerequisites: If an invocation has a requirement, you must meet it to learn that invocation. For example if an invocation requires you to be level 5, you can select the invocation once you reach Warlock level 5.

Replacing and Gaining Invocations: Whenever you gain a Warlock level, you can replace one of your invocations with another one for which you qualify. You can’t replace an invocation if it’s a prerequisite for another invocation that you have.

When you gain certain Warlock levels, you gain more invocations of your choice, as shown in the Invocations column of the Warlock Features table.

You can’t pick the same invocation more than once unless its description says otherwise.

You get 1 Invocation at level 1, 3 at level 2, 5 at level 5, 6 at level 7, 7 at level 9, 8 at level 12, 9 at level 15 and 10 at level 18.

Level 1 Pact Magic: Through occult ceremony, you have formed a pact with a mysterious entity to gain magical powers. The entity is a voice in the shadows—its identity unclear—but its boon to you is concrete: the ability to cast spells.

Cantrips: You know two Warlock cantrips of your choice. Eldritch Blast and Prestidigitation are recommended. Whenever you gain a Warlock level, you can replace one of your cantrips from this feature with another Warlock cantrip of your choice.

When you reach Warlock levels 4 and 10 you learn another Warlock cantrip of your choice.

Spell Slots: The table also shows the level of those slots, all of which are the same level. You regain all expended Pact Magic spell slots when you finish a Short or Long Rest. You get 1 spell slot at level 1, 2 at level 2, 3 at level 11 and 4 at level 17. The spell slot levels are 1 at level 1, 2 at level 3, 3 at level 5, 4 at level 7 and finally 5 at level 9.

For example, when you’re a level 5 Warlock, you have two level 3 spell slots. To cast the level 1 spell Witch Bolt, you must spend one of those slots, and you cast it as a level 3 spell.

Prepared Spells of Level 1+. You prepare the list of level 1+ spells that are available for you to cast with this feature. To start, choose two level 1 Warlock spells. Charm Person and Hex are recommended.

The number of spells on your list increases as you gain Warlock levels, as shown in the Prepared Spells column of the Warlock Features table. Whenever that number increases, choose additional Warlock spells until the number of spells on your list matches the number in the table. The chosen spells must be of a level no higher than what’s shown in the table’s Slot Level column for your level. When you reach level 6, for example, you learn a new Warlock spell, which can be of levels 1–3.

If another Warlock feature gives you spells that you always have prepared, those spells don’t count against the number of spells you can prepare with this feature, but those spells otherwise count as Warlock spells for you. Changing Your Prepared Spells: Whenever you gain a Warlock level, you can replace one spell on your list with another Warlock spell of an eligible level.

Spellcasting Ability: Charisma is the spellcasting ability for your Warlock spells.

Spellcasting Focus: You can use an Arcane Focus as a Spellcasting Focus for your Warlock spells.

The number of spells you have is 2 prepared spells at level 1, 3 at level 2, 4 at level 3, 5 at level 4, 6 at level 5, 7 at level 6, 8 at level 7, 9 at level 8, 10 at level 9, 11 at level 11, 12 at level 13, 13 at level 15, 14 at level 17 and 15 at level 19.

Level 2 Magical Cunning: You can perform an esoteric rite for 1 minute. At the end of it you regain expended Pact Magic spell slots but no more than a number equal to half your maximum (round up). Once you use this feature you can’t do so again until you finish a Long Rest.

Level 3 Warlock Subclass: You gain a Warlock subclass of your choice. Archfey Celestial Fiend and Great Old One. A subclass is a specialization that grants you features at certain Warlock levels. For the rest of your career, you gain each of your subclass’s features that are of your Warlock level or lower.

Level 4 Ability Score Improvement: You gain the Ability Score Improvement feat or another Feat of your choice for which you qualify. You gain this feature again at Warlock level 8, 12, and 16.

Level 9 Contact Patron: In the past, you usually contacted your patron through intermediaries. Now you can communicate directly; you always have the Contact Other Plane spell prepared. With this feature, you can cast the spell without expending a spell slot to contact your patron, and you automatically succeed on the spell’s saving throw.

Once you cast the spell with this feature, you can’t do so in this way again until you finish a Long Rest.

Contact Other Plane is a level 5 Divination spell for Warlock and Wizard. Casting time is either 1 minute or as a Ritual Range is self and requires a verbal component. Duration is 1 minute.

You mentally contact a demigod, the spirit of a long-dead sage, or some other knowledgeable entity from another plane. Contacting this otherworldly intelligence can break your mind. When you cast this spell, make a DC 15 Intelligence saving throw. On a successful save, you can ask the entity up to five questions. You must ask your questions before the spell ends. The DM answers each question with one word, such as “yes,” “no,” “maybe,” “never,” “irrelevant,” or “unclear” (if the entity doesn’t know the answer to the question). If a one-word answer would be misleading, the DM might instead offer a short phrase as an answer.

On a failed save, you take 6d6 Psychic damage and have the Incapacitated condition until you finish a Long Rest. A Greater Restoration spell cast on you ends this effect.

Level 11 Mystic Arcanum: Your patron grants you a magical secret called an arcanum. Choose one level 6 Warlock spell as this arcanum.

You can cast your arcanum spell once without expending a spell slot, and you must finish a Long Rest before you can cast it in this way again.

You gain another Warlock spell of your choice that can be cast in this way when you reach Warlock levels 13 (level 7 spell), 15 (level 8 spell), and 17 (level 9 spell). You regain all uses of Mystic Arcanum when you finish a Long Rest.

Whenever you gain a Warlock level, you can replace one of your arcanum spells with another Warlock spell of the same level.

Level 19 Epic Boon: You gain an Epic Boon or another Feat of your choice for which you qualify. Boon of Fate is recommended.

Level 20 Eldritch Master: When you use Magical Cunning feature you regain all your expended Pact Magic spell slots.

If anyone has followed me for any length of time none of this will be a shock lmao.

Shadowhunters, and more broadly speaking The Mortal Instruments. My first real fandom!!! I cannot overstate the impact the books and show had on my life. I wouldn't be who I am without it. I have an angelic rune tattoo. Magnus and Alec are some of the first queer characters I remember reading about. I remember where I was when they kissed for the first time in the show. You stupid nephilim lives rent free in my brain. This show (and the books) truly set up the trajectory my life is on now, and I will always always remember it fondly. Even with all the drama and discourse.

2. Critical Role, specifically C2. My first true obsession after the decade long Shadowhunters debacle. I stumbled into it to learn how to play D&D (which I now know is a controversy in and of itself lmao). But my friend @midnightellis wanted us to start a game, and I needed a way to learn that wasn't reading the books, so I started C2. It took 11 or 12 episodes, but then I fell in love. I spent the next almost year watching the entirety of C2 which culminated in visiting them to watch the finale together. I was extremely jetlagged. It was basically 8 amazing hours of nonstop crying. I have zero regrets. Except for the fact I still need to get the tattoo I had planned rip. One day!! I promise!!

3. Arcane!!!! A brief interlude between Shadowhunters and CR. There was about 4 months were I was OBSESSED and watched the entire show like 3 times back to back. I have many thoughts and feelings about Jayce. The show is also just so visually stunning. I cannot wait for S2 to drop in November!!!!!! I know nothing about League but I do really love this show.

4. House. Iconic. What else needs to be said? House is very much a comfort show for me; great to rewatch during the winter. I've watched the entire thing almost three times now, and even got my mom hooked lol. It was fun seeing all her reactions to everything before I moved.

5. If I had known what fandom was when this was airing, I truly would have been all over that shit. But I was 8 and didn't have access to the internet. Aang/Katara def my first otp lol. I did, however, ignore a friend that was over at my house to watch the finale, I believe. I definitely told them to go play so I could watch the show uninterrupted. Needless to say, they were not thrilled with that. I'm 90% sure it was the finale now, but I could be wrong about the episode. ATLA is also another comfort show that I could watch over and over again.

6. Shadow and Bone. I am still SICKENED this got canceled. Genya and David are the ultimate romance, and no one will convince me otherwise. I almost stopped reading when I found out his fate. I was devastated. Everyone in this show is also very pretty. I can't believe we won't get a s3.

I'm going to stop here because this is already long enough, and tbh I'm not sure I actually have four more shows. I can only be obsessed with one thing at a time, and the current obsession is Path of Night. And that does not seem to be waning any time soon.

Edit: Lost should 100% be on this list. I think I've watched it at least four times. My family and I watched it live as it was airing when I was a kid. And it still is one of my favorite shows. I know people got beef with the ending but I truly didn't mind it. Even if it's bad or whatever, I think Lost is still 100% worth watching. There are so many little hints and clues that I pick up something different every time, and each character death hits just as hard.

Comfort Food (s): (okay so for about 9 months I had long covid before we had vaccines, which means, weirdly, my body developed allergies to a lot of foods I could tolerate previously. Old faves have *)

Cheese, big glass of Milk*, Pizza*, Tortellini Alfredo*, Miso Soup, Diet Coke*, Oat Milk Ice Cream, Teriyaki Salmon, Petit Fours*, Pastry Cream*.

Comfort Clothing: A very oversized T Shirt and nothing else or baggy pants and a velvet crop top. Very specific but it's my favorite thing to wear when I'm being cozy. I do like big sweaters but if I get overheated the feeling is ruined immediately.

Comfort Song(s): I apologize in advance but there's no way to make this short. Daydreaming means I'm always switching between a line up of songs that transport my brain to other places or set off specific feelings. Some probably don't sound comfortable per se but the familiarity is what gets me. A few have been my go-to escapism songs for well over a decade. And of course the line up is always in flux. Also, like, fanfic mood music is a must yo.

Tbh although I check in with a handful of streamers from time to time Ray is probably who I watch the most. Quick wit, sarcasm, and snark are my favorite things, so Ray is my go-to. (yes, that Ray. He escaped RT a long time ago. It's a whole thing that's been talked about by him. He's a safe one, don't worry.)

I'm adding this because I use a few when I'm overwhelmed and need something familiar or gentle to watch. Separate from gaming stuff.

Kennie JD - Bad movies and a beat playlist (kennie is just hysterical anyway but omg these reviews. The Twilight ones in particular get me every time.

Anti-Chef - Watch Jamie attempt to cook through Julia Child's cookbooks. It's very charming and you're always rooting for him. He's very real about the process which is nice.

Dominic Noble - Lost in Adaptation. Exactly what it sounds like. Books vs Film and TV but he's also not an ass about it so it's a pleasant experience.

nigiricco - Bento videos like every three days it's wild but imo soothing to watch.

Sophia Phan - Movie Commentaries. She's adorable.

PBS Idea Channel - Okay so this channel has been dead for 6 years now but it's STILL full of amazing videos that I have yet to see matched in their depth and scope. Plus it's nearly all pop culture which keeps it fun an accessible. If you aren't familiar with PBSID I highly suggest sifting through the archive. There are videos on everything from The Pokemon War Theory to How Does Night Vale Confront Us With the Unknown?

Hbomberguy - The dude with the Pathologic video. His other stuff is really good too.

Folding Ideas - Video essays and commentary plus some really good deep dives into other subjects like NFTs, Flat Earthers, and the Ralph Bakshi Lord of the Rings uh adaptation?

Primitive Technology - Okay, you know those videos YT recs where it looks like two guys built a hotel out of bamboo or something but it's clearly fake? This is the guy they're mimicking.

Peaceful Cuisine - Mostly vegan and/or gluten free cooking. Most videos have an asmr version and a version with soft music playing.
