Happy to take more House of Night headcanon requests, but small reminder that you can find many of them in my (completed!) House of Night fanfic, NoHoper Part I: 'LightBringer'. (Which I hear is very good).

Papermaking at AP3!
A couple weeks ago and even this past Tuesday, we showed you how, after students in my History of Books & Printing class (INFOST 603) read about the invention of type and letterpress in Europe, we went down to Team Nerd Letterpress, set wood type, and printed a poster. Last week, after reading about the history and technique of hand papermaking, we took a field trip to Anchor Press, Paper, and Print (AP3) in the Riverwest section of Milwaukee to engage in some papermaking.
First, AP3 president Marilyn Propp demonstrated hogging the vat, using the deckle, dipping the screen, pulling a form, and couching the paper onto felts (here's a glossary) -- top three images. Then Miria tried their hands at the process, with much success (next three images). Afterwards, it was a free-for-all, with everyone making paper for the next hour and a half; here in succession are Anna, Caring, Adam, Georgia, and Catherine (with Taj in the background).
The last image is of some still-wet paper forms on felts (actually, synthetic pellons), with attempts at inclusions and paper lamination. The students were clearly exhilarated, and everyone went home exhausted and happy!

I just posted another chapter to part 5 but tbh I'm not feeling this anymore.
I know the ending is all set up and coming close to wrapping the series. There is a whole other segment to finish off here.
I just feel less motivated than I did when I started out. It feels kinda shitty.
I think I'm done with series fics and now just gonna do drabbles and oneshots.
My friend told me that I said something a long time ago (which I didn't remember) that if something is taking too long and feeling like a chore, to end it to close that chapter of my life.
I'm trying to do that but at least want to give a decent ending. It feels like just doing that feels like such a waste.
Idk just feeling like shit rn.

ProPublica:
The public’s impression of American militias is dominated by Jan. 6, 2021. Groups such as the Proud Boys had plotted to prevent the transfer of power from Trump to Joe Biden. They formed the vanguard of the mob that stormed the Capitol that day, according to the Department of Justice. Media coverage since has centered on the prosecutions of participants, with hundreds of rioters sent to prison. But despite the riot and its fallout, militias are far from extinct. AP3 has expanded at a dramatic pace since Jan. 6, while keeping much of its activity out of view. This rise is documented in more than 100,000 internal messages obtained by ProPublica, spanning the run-up to Jan. 6 through early 2024. Along with extensive interviews with 22 current and former members of AP3, the records provide a uniquely detailed inside view of the militia movement at a crucial moment. The messages reveal how AP3 leaders have forged alliances with law enforcement around the country and show the ways in which, despite an initial crackdown by social media, they have attracted a new wave of recruits. A change in the political climate has also helped: In a matter of months after Jan. 6, rioters went from pariahs to heroes in the rhetoric of prominent Republican politicians. By the summer of 2021, people were enlisting in AP3, saying that Jan. 6 inspired them to join. A portrait emerges of a group alternating between focused action and self-destructive chaos and facing a schism over whether political engagement can still address our nation’s problems — or whether violence is the only option. It can be hard to discern the line between bluster and imminent threat in the messages, a perennial struggle for FBI agents who monitor paramilitary groups. But some senior AP3 members grew so alarmed that they quit, scared by the number of people, even high-level leaders, advocating acts of terror.

hey everyone! back up your works on ao3, because project 2025 is probably going into effect. porn will be illegal.
BACK IT UP OFFLINE. the cloud will not save you here.
also, make sure you're current on your vaccines. and that all your ID and documents are up to date. Renew that passport.
because the fda, cdc, and state department are about to go to hell, too.
how are we even in this position again? insanity. pure insanity. but protect yourself, and be ready to protect your vulnerable loved ones. shit is about to get real bad.

Armed and underground: Inside the turbulent, secret world of an American militia
Rounding up migrants. Lists of “friendly” sheriffs. Debating political assassinations. Internal messages reveal AP3's journey from Jan. 6 through the tumultuous lead-up to the 2024 election. One member predicts: “It’ll be decided at the ammo box.”

i just want to thank you for all the things you've done to spread comment awareness. because of you, i've gotten a lot more comments on a lot of my fics, especially people coming from tumblr to read my ao3 fics. and i just received the sweetest comment today, detailing every little detail of the fic that they noticed i added. T-T, and that makes me so happy to know that other people enjoy my works just as much as I enjoy making them <3

Going from detailed outline to full text when you're writing a fic is so funny because the story I've alread written keeps fucking happening to me
Like what do you mean it has a point? When the fuck did that story about misunderstandings and trauma and making fun of the batfam for making assumptions while also feeling sorry for them turn into asking uncomfortable questions about my career choices ? Where did that Diana/Cass parallel come from? Why is my therapist highjacking my story???!!
