Been thinking about Jaune and Weiss parallels lately.

How they both come from big families with long lines of huntsmen heritage. How Weiss' house is full of conflict, but she had both pressure and opportunity in equal measure to live up to that family name. Whereas Jaune seems to have a lot of fond memories of home, but was given no opportunity to follow in his ancestors footsteps. How he had to sneak his way into Beacon just for a chance to be the hero.

How Weiss acted like she was la crème de la crème but had so much to learn, while Jaune knew he was so far behind everyone else that he struggled to see how much talent he had. How quickly he grew.

I also keep thinking about how they fiddle with the Princess and Knight roles. Starting out as Snow White the Ice Queen and Jeanne d'Arc the Greenhorn Knight, but by V9 Weiss is heir to neither kingdom nor crown, and Jaune has become The Rusted Knight incarnate. I wonder where they'll go from here with both those archetypes of theirs having crumbled quite a bit...

seventeen as types of boyfriends - just my usual brainrot headcanons

seungcheol is stubborn. he's the type of bf to refuse to start eating until you do. this man sits with one arm draped over the back of your chair and watches you finish whatever you're doing, waiting patiently for you to join him. doesn't begin eating until you take your first bite. will insist on feeding you if you say you're full before finishing most of your plate. smiles at you and then he's listening to you ramble on about your day, vent about whatever has been bothering you or telling you about his life since he last saw you which let's be real was less than a week ago bc this is a clingy loverboy at heart if i've ever seen one. always pouting. always. will argue with you if you try to skip meals even just bc you forgot. wants to know you're looking after yourself, even when he isn't doing the same. will make a pact to be better about it if you are and help you play off each other as supports for the things you're each individually not good at doing. great teamwork and communication couple.

jeonghan is definitely the overdramatic boyfriend. every minor inconvenience immediately becomes a 'so you don't love me anymore' said with such a straight face sometimes you can't tell if he's just teasing or if he's genuinely hurt by whatever happened. blinks at you if you even try to pretend to reject his affection. do not play with his heart he will make you regret it. does not feel bad about overstepping boundaries when you're self-sabotaging. needs his daily dose of affirmation that you are indeed dating him of your own volition and you are happy to be there. secret softie but likes to talk a big talk and isn't himself unless he's making you want to strangle him just a little bit. loves embarrassing you in public bc your reactions are just too funny/cute to him. you're the group mediator couple everyone comes to when they need to vent.

joshua is a big softie. he's whipped and not afraid for the whole world to know it but will absolutely tease you like you're the one head over heels for him. you are pls just let it happen he's right and you are obsessed with him. very attuned to your reactions and somehow always senses when the vibes are off pretty much immediately. very caring but also needs a lot of affection and quality time. loves when you do things together even if there's no talking, content just to be in your presence especially if you get to cook or bake together. lots of daytime dates like picnics in the park or trips to the beach. loves a spontaneous roadtrip or silly little idea. he loves artsy casual activities like paint and sip evenings and having your friends around to spend time with everyone together. your apartment is the go to hangout spot and his members are comfortable showing up at all hours even when shua isn't around. mum friend therapist couple of the group.

junhui is a very lowkey boyfriend. doesn't always announce his love with large/loud gestures but he's always thinking about you. it shows in the small things. acts of service bf. loves physical contact. taking naps together is his love language. will cook your favourite meals and somehow always knows when you're getting sick before you do. loves when you let him lay on your lap while you read or watch tv and play with his hair. all about quiet time with you. lots of nighttime dates bc the way you look at the moon makes his heart happy. you're the couple that's often in their own little bubble even among friends. hao didn't ask to be included in your relationship but you've become a trio somehow anyway and often joke that you're the third wheel.

hoshi's the type of boyfriend you equally want to squish his cheeks for being adorable and kill him for waking you up at ungodly hours over the smallest things. he's very loud and open with his affection. needs looking after, please do not let this man out alone unless he's in jihoon's studio he will get lost or find his way into trouble 100% accidentally. so accident prone. he's not clumsy he is just bad at spacial awareness when he isn't dancing bc he's easily distracted by other things. loves snacks and your cupboard is always ransacked whenever he comes over. will act like your own personal weighted blanket. the type to swing your joined hands and skip ahead of you in public, tugging you along bc he's too excited to get somewhere or say hello to a cute dog down the street. will make you stop at every playground you pass to play on the swings with him.

wonwoo is another less outwardly affectionate boyfriend. he's not big on pda and making things showy. he's secure in your relationship and likes to show his love in other ways - like buying and building you a custom gaming set up just so you can play with him. will get matching headphones or mice. definitely didn't get you a mousepad with a design from your favourite game or anime on it. patient and very fond. likes to rest his hand on the small of your back or let you know he's there/stay close in more subtle ways but know you can absolutely always count on him even if he teases you for your bad decisions the next morning. and for weeks afterwards. likes playing little pranks like moving your stuff around when you leave him unsupervised too often. likes to stand around and talk to you whenever you're in the kitchen, he likes watching you cook and draping himself over your back as you make him taste test new dishes.

woozi is the type of bf to show you what he struggles with saying. isn't the best at expressing his affection through physical touch so he writes songs instead. loves quiet time while you're each just doing your own thing. dependable and steady. will show up to every event, milestone, company dinner you name it he will be there if you mention it even once in his presence. the calm one when you're going through something. good at seeing the bigger picture when you need advice or just being there for you to lean on. loves days in together or activities that don't involve too much socializing. happy when you invite your friends over to dinners, game or movie nights at your apartment. will make sure to tell you how he feels bc he knows you don't hear it often. quick to defend you and careful about his words. will throw his members under the bus for you in a heartbeat. mingyu and hoshi are always around so you've sort of ended up adopting them too. he loves coming home and seeing you cooking together or when you join hoshi in invading his studio.

minghao is a soft bf. believes relationships are an equal partnership. won't make a big deal out of it but always there to hold your purse or offer you a piggy back. you can tell him anything and he loves a good gossip session but will always be the first person to tell you if you're in the wrong or could have handled something better. the type of bf to talk/work through issues together and face things head on. will help you come up with solutions for your problems if you let him. great advice giver. always has a hug and a mug of tea ready for you. will stick by you through bad decisions but you'll feel his disappointment. he's here to make your life easier by taking on all the small things you don't even think about but he expects you to pull your weight in the relationship as well. likes quiet time together. jun has accidentally become your best friend too bc he's around so often. believes having time to yourselves is healthy for you both and encourages you spending time with friends or family without him too.

dk is such a loverboy. silly bf who's always making you laugh and also occasionally want to strangle him because he cannot take anything seriously for the life of him. a true romantic. this man loves physical affection and doesn't care if you're in public or not. has eyes for you and you only. he's not even looking in any other direction. dokyeom is a very devoted boyfriend. will cry with you and listen to any and every grievance. does anything he can to cheer you up and hold you when you're sad. happy to be doing anything as long as you're together but he likes outdoorsy dates or fun adventures. take him to see a musical or taste every type of pizza throughout the city. loves to feed you and try new restaurants together. you're definitely the couple all your friends love having over for any kind of get together and who you make smile every time they see how in love you are bc it shines so brightly no one can miss how deeply each of you cherishes the other.

mingyu is a domestic boyfriend. he's always cooking for you, cleaning up when you don't have the mental capacity or running you a bath when your energy is sapped after a long day. loves taking care of you. needs physical affection constantly or he will sulk and whine about it. complains that you don't love him if you forget to respond to a text. loves outdoorsy and gym dates. as long as you're doing something that involves moving your body. a sucker for romance. treat this man to a homemade meal, a candlelit dinner, make him something with your own hands and he will absolutely melt. cherishes everything you've ever given him. keeps a memory box of tickets, cards, all kinds of mementos from your dates. loves watching scary movies as an excuse to hide behind you and hug you close all night. it's no secret that he's whipped. this man also loves cooking with you even if you're a disaster in the kitchen.

seungkwan is a secret loverboy. like josh and hannie he lives to tease you about being whipped for him but not so surprisingly he's just as in love with you. always by your side with a hand in your pocket or on your waist. loves a good coffee date and gossip session. people watching together is your favourite activity, he will make up increasingly elaborate scenarios until you're snorting your drink out of your nose and folded over laughing so hard. loves when you lean on him, whether it's bc you're tired or happy or just seeking some warmth or comfort. such an emotional support boyfriend. tell him everything, he will listen and reassure you then help you come up with a solution to whatever's stressing you out. if you don't want advice he's also there to just hold you until it feels less overwhelming. will give you the silent treatment if you fuck up but ultimately you talk it through together bc a relationship takes work and both of you are committed to making it work.

vernon is an easygoing boyfriend. down for pretty much anything and loves when you make the plans so he doesn't have to. happy to spend time with you especially if music is involved somehow. loves going to gigs together or having you in his studio to bounce ideas off of and to get your opinions on his projects. likes to use you as a human pillow and if you cook for him that's it he's never letting you leave again. mandatory movie nights at least once a week bc he always has something new he wants to see and he's so cute when he focuses and locks in on whatever you're watching that night. this man is so oblivious though you might need to spell things out for him sometimes. he loves you he just doesn't always get it.

chan is a clingy bf. this man loves physical contact and your personal space is also his personal space. always attached to you somehow whether that's a hand on your thigh or holding yours or even just a head leaning on whatever part of you is nearest. he's always holding onto you, loosely so you can still move around comfortably but whines when you get up to pee or grab a snack. he's so used to constantly being around so many other people pls do not leave cutie alone he gets bored so easily. loves when you come to dance practice or to watch him practice alone even if you're off to the side somewhere doing your own thing. down bad and absolutely shameless about it.

literally don't question the randomness of this blurb. i run on revelations and sudden visions, and this one was just too hot to let rot. i had to pause a whole request for this thing. and it's a bit rushed, i'll like expand on it some other time i just wanted to return to this trope. anyways, I digress— space scientist ellie, nine month voyage through the cosmos, hookups.. tipsy hookups.

it'd be morningtime in the wake of certain events preceding that memories would slowly begin to prick through the surface— owing to ellie's imperfect subtlety. hills and hills of planetary research, prototype weaponry, instructions on how to properly utilize said prototypes, and coffee-stained reports, dawdled through like the process couldn't get any more boring than it presently is; stress, procrastination, a murk in the thick of your thoughts— literal brainrot. then, the main office zone gate slides open, that little airy whir pulls through your ears, and the person that walks through foments sudden recollection to the promotion party last night. ellie. a new recruit under your stations wing— and the immodest girl who was under your hood many hours ago.

ellie is a damnable pesterer of love; portending that if you've ever been intimate with her, she'll be stuck to you like an idiot's tongue adheres to icicles in wintertime. and tipsy her definitely was after you two had sex: pleading for you to stay a minute longer to cuddle, pressing every work-related praise hot into your nape, mentioning how good you taste out of the blue, so on and so forth. yet now that it is a bright and advantageous morning, and considering that she woke up to the scent of you woven through each fiber of her clothes— she remembers, and she reminds.

ellie's got her legs crossed, arms crossed, leaned against your desk's edge, small butt of hers rudely stamping one of your precious folders; the usual stance she does when you're plying your trade, and she prying for attention. "seriously. thursday, you and me, conference room number twenty-seven, i'll bring wine and fetch dinner from the canteen— please?" an earnest ask, you can sense it in her tone; evenly pitched and soft, softer when she pleads, as always, albeit that the spaceship you dwell in has no actual restaurant so dating environments are centered around some good old D.I.Y and empty meeting rooms. her foot winds out slightly to tap the spokes of your office chair, nudging the focus you so dearly casted to the papers below you, to her instead. which regrettably works; tossing an eye roll as you spin, "dates and recreational dinners don't fit into anyone's schedule here, you know that." it aches to claim that, and aches harder to see her take that hit of an that answer. watching her head drop and her mouth tug into a contemplative shape that wanted to battle it out with excuses, loopholes, promises— but it forms into a grin rather, and decides to be impish. "had time for last night though, didn't we? a great time, actually, n' i wanna see where that.." her voice sinks into the pit of her throat— deep and reserved — and her thumbs start to do that cute fiddly thing at her waist, rolling over each other while the rest of her fingers intwine and overlap, "—takes us?" modifying her words into a delicate, unsure question. a toothy, one-sided smile and sad puppy brows, ugh you could just pinch her cheeks. but of course, she spices up the deal, "hopefully.. back into my room, if my flirting skills aren't total shit." annoyingly rambling as a way to showcase how gravely you've impacted her mind the last twelve or so hours. so grave, you're the only thing her motivation could cling upon to urge her limbs and weasel her sluggish weight out of bed earlier. "please?"

that please chisels a smile into your lips, unfortunately-fortunate, "god, you're so bad, williams." poking fun at her and coasting the wheeled chair away with the back of your knees straightening, rising from your seat with documents in-hand, and agreeance in-mind; written ripe on your lifted cheeks.

"was i?" said indirectly, a cocky implication twisting her cheeks to the same level as yours. it took you— let's say, two, three, awkward seconds of squinting before you understood her crafty-ass joke that took your words a completely different, and lewd direction. stupidly faced too: cocking her brow with the scar slicing through, and cocking one side of her head upwards too, overall just cocky. now you could just squeeze her annoying face until it exploded. figuratively.

(Hi! After a very long break wherein Winter demolished my motivation I am here to provide more Bar!141 AU brainrot :) )

How subtle about their interest are the boys in my Bar AU? Not at all, utterly hopeless they are.

Head cannons about it below:

- Price would be the most subtle of all of them, no question. The man tried to be all business first. It would take him forever to confront what thoughts lurked in his dark office about you. He trusted Ghost to keep an eye out during your shifts, but eventually he found himself checking on you personally anyways. Eyes trailing over you before meeting Ghost's, awaiting the bouncers nod that all was okay.

"Purely a boss's job darlin" he'd mutter before disappearing back into his office.

Despite appearing unaffected, he had been smoking far more cigars lately. The boys were smart enough not to mention it. (Sometimes his smoky voice invades your thoughts when you try to fall asleep.)

- On the other side, Soap, naturally, was the most blatant with it. He didn't have an affinity for keeping his flirting subtle. Either you were interested or you weren't and he liked to figure out where he stood quick.

It was hard to tell with how standoffish you were but you also never directly told him off so he persisted. A naturally touchy guy, rough hand always just toeing the line of respectful versus suggestive. You found him endearing despite your best efforts.

You never were one for games anyways so you liked the upfront approach. You also liked that under all the flirting he was very emotionally in tune. Gave the most honest and groundbreaking advice while casually pouring another shot.

(Of course, Gaz often had to remind him to get his head on right after you left a shift or he'd end up on Ghost's wall)

- Gaz would be more subtle than Soap but less so than Price. Had more of a charm to his flirts than Ghost could ever hope for. With such an ease with words, was truly the one to look out for.

He could worm his way into your head and you'd not think much of it. Resting his chin in his hand he'd watch on with a bright gaze as you rambled about your latest class. Smoothly offering questions and honey dipped laughter like he wasn't going to brag about this to the guys later. He could pull conversation so easily out of you, even if you were someone who usually struggled with small talk. (That scared you a bit if you were honest, how much you let slip around him.)

It's been awhile since someone's been so earnestly curious about you and his attention was heady.

- Ghost would be the first one you warmed up to. Much to Soap and Gaz's displeasure. Ghost didn't truly understand why himself, he'd fumbled his way through only a few conversations with you so far and felt like they all ended in disaster. To you though, he was sweet in his own odd way.

He mostly just silently shoved snacks in your hands, gaze always set on you from the shadows. He'd never taken his role as security for you granted that's for sure. He assumed that's all it was that drew you in anyways, his job as bouncer. Which was true, but it was also his bluntness that you found refreshing. (And if you purposely let a clearly intoxicated customer close just to see Ghost deal with them that's between you and you alone)

Hey so this is completely self indulgent and my own little spin on the dickhead redsuit Wade coz ya erm dont take this too seriously I am but a nerdy author with brainrot ya - Wade totally says chat (made a whole blog about this) basically he just refers to us, the audience as chat sometimes as if hes some livestreamer - Wade def refers to himself in the 3rd person at random (this also happens in the movie) prolly does it coz he knows hes in a story and is being written and sometimes js kinda feels disconnected from himself as a character for a moment - He changes his tone of voice A LOT, (based loosely off of the VA in the deadpool game and also how I talk irl lol) and sometimes does poorly done fake accents like british accents or etc, or in general just changes the tone of his voice to over-accentuate emotions - Changes his tone of voice but also has moments where hes js completely monotone, or a mock monotone. Again based loosely off the VA in the deadpool game (plus how I talk) mainly does this when hes bored or js :/ and starts acting super bummed coz hes a spontaneous mood swinging fuck

HATES getting talked over pitied and babied in any way. He just doesnt like being treated as a child which people tend to do because of his erratic personality and he fucking loathes it, it just makes him feel stupid and he knows hes stupid but he doesnt like hearing it from others

The Twenty-Second: Blasts from the Past

This is a casual little writing challenge to get myself into a habit, perhaps, or if not, to get some words from the meat of my brain to the pulp of the page. All of my stories for this challenge are set in the world of RAVENOT, and if you’re curious, you can take a look at my WIP intro right here. And if you’re really keen, you can read the first chapter (sort of a pilot as I toil) right here! Now onto the daily ramble.

I haven't been writing as much as I'd like, mostly because I've had some self-work that I've needed to do more. I've needed to rest, and think about how I'm using my newfound free time, and balance that with the practicalities of the world I'm living in. But also, in the wake of the announcement of a Soul Reaver 1&2 Remaster I've fallen back into some serious brainrot about a series that has been incredibly formative to me. When I saw the trailers I got so excited I was literally jumping up and down, which is not something that usually happens to me. There's also a graphic novel coming? I am absolutely frothing at the mouth, which for a skeleton is a pretty mean feat. I've loved the Legacy of Kain series since I first stumbled upon it at a time when I was too young to be playing M-rated video games. I have two tattoos featuring symbols from the series. It's the second most serious relationship I have in my life, and that's almost not a joke. I've been keeping a candle in the window for more ever since Legacy of Kain: Defiance came out. The story is incredible, the voice acting is excellent, and the character designs are absolutely bonkers. No one does vampires like this, and if they do, it's probably with thanks to Legacy of Kain. So yeah, anyway, if you're curious, there are lore videos on Youtube, and someone has also uploaded all the story cutscenes for your viewing pleasure. And it really is a pleasure. I'd recommend taking in the lore videos first, because it'll make the cutscenes easier to put together, but honestly they're pretty watchable even if you don't do that. Anyway, I've been immersed in that awesome story again, but it did strike me that it was even more formative than I've given it credit for--but that realization has actually fired me up about my writing in a roundabout way. My stories really are love letters to things like this, and thinking about it that way has been really exciting. I'd lost sight about how some of my favorite stories can make me feel, so this was like getting hit by a truck if getting hit by a truck could be awesome and affirming of one's craft. So I've been taking some time for immersion in someone else's very good work, and that has been nourishing, even if my word count hasn't budged much. (I did also work on The Bishop of Black today with my husband so I am still writing. So many projects, and only one me!) Anyway. I need it to be December urgently. Vae fucking victis, or whatever. And now, the tiniest excerpt ever:

The night wore on, the guard changing twice before the sky began to blush with the first light of day. Yarrowling came, looking weary. "'Til dawn, you said." Ravenot drew themself up, their long shadow passing over Yarrowling's wizened face, but before another word could pass between them, the first screams shook the morning air.

Um Pokemon brainrot came back for the 7299292th time. Lloyd edition

Insane person ramblings below cut^_^

I think there are two major routes you can take when attempting to Pokemonize Lloyd. The first is just making him Colress. They are functionally the same character- similar interests, motivations, and morals. AKA generic mad scientist who wishes to create "the strongest machine/weapon/i dont even know", who doesn't care about the violence or sacrifice, arguably works for the wrong side, and remains friendly to the main characters anyway. Like, there genuinely is not much to expand upon there. Just pop out Colress and snap Lloyd into his place and there you go I guess.

(BTW Colress was one of the first characters I was ever deeply obsessed with as a kid. This does not mean anything)

The second route is trying to replace Lloyd's interests with machines into something canon typical that also reflects his role in the series. Unsubtle way of looking you in the eyes and telling you I want him to be a Pokemon Regional Professor so bad because I said so.

(Colress was my original but the chokehold Professor Sycamore has had on me for over a year now......I am not biased at all umm)

While a Pokemon Professor is probably a littleee too goody two shoes and social for Lloyd, it is The role that always implies extreme amounts of research in some dedicated niche. Lloyd can exclusively research man-made/object inspired Pokemon or something! Close enough to robots. Either way, the whole plot of the game is that the Professor chooses a small batch of kids, gives them a strong Pokemon to start off, and then tells them to go collect data, while the kids usually end up changing the world instead. Lloyd's whole role in Code Geass is he gives a strong weapon to Suzaku in exchange for him collecting data, and then Suzaku goes and does fuck whatever with it until the planet is fixed I don't know. Literally the same! And honestly, we just deserve a Pokemon Professor who is a bit of an unlikeable freak.

I do not think Lloyd would care about battling much and I do not think he really cares about Pokemon themselves a whole lot either! But their abilities and possibilities would probably interest him similarly to how he is invested in Knightmares. And even if he acts like he doesn't care, he definitely has a little litter of Aron sleeping in his house.

Anyway code geass pokemon crossover is NEVER going to happen but I think it is silly. There an an Alcremie sitting on his table

and in typing this out, I realize I just never assigned anyone center field. so thats absolutely hysterical, NO idea whos manning that position. Baseball teams usually have around 26 players, but only 9 play the field at a time so thats really all I was worried about!

and then, of course, we have Tango working as an analyst for the team, Impulse as the coach, and Bdubs and Etho as announcers!

The first thing I wrote for this fic is in the last chapter, back when this au was a single scene rather than a whole chaptered guy, and its something that needed quite a lot of people. As for the CUBS!

So, that also did not start as a story, that just started as background for Jimmy's plot. Grian was Jimmy's brother and he's a pitcher for a rival team, and I just picked the Cubs completely randomly. I was originally going to have Scar be in This Fic, but then because I couldn't leave things well enough alone...I said....well what if desert duo offshoot...what if there's one story for each brother. And by THAT time...I had already filled out a LOT of the Yankees cast and was like "well, oops."

There are definitely other recognizable names on the desert duo side though! but I will say, that one is as of right now much much much less fleshed out. The Cubs lineup will likely include many other hermits, such as Iskall, Rendog, Keralis, Doc, joehills (I think he'd be a fascinatingly confusing announcer), Beef—etc! Like I said, it's currently not really planned :) but thats the idea for if it ever becomes A Thing.

What is planned is that Grian (number 16) is the pitcher , Scar is the catcher, and then because it was too absolutely ironic to NOT make happen. I did make cubfan135 the coach of the chicago cubs. A decision I both vehemently hate and absolutely adore. When talking about grians plot and going "cub has to be there" my brain went now hold on a second...cubfan....his name can't possibly refer to the baseba—oh look at that. it does. and ta-da I couldn't NOT do the funniest thing ever in this universe.

Mumbo will also absolutely be there because he can't not be. but my brain refuses to picture mumbo jumbo playing baseball so he just. he. i have no idea what he will be doing But He'll Be There. Trust Me.

i'm so glad i'm not alone in being completely feral for those set pictures. like it's insane what just seeing them has done to my brain chemistry. i saw them like an hour or so before i had therapy on wednesday and i felt like i was going insane for the rest of the day. the frank brainrot is real and i will be binge-reading ur fics again (bc i love ur portrayal of frank and i need that man in my life) and just UGH, i can't even explain how this man makes me feel without sounding fucking nuts.

and okay after finishing season two, i just, i have no words. i know that the fandom doesn't always love amy but genuinely, she has such a special place in my heart. and the lengths that frank went to protect her actually just made me want to sob. he absolutely melts my heart and i remember when i watched the start of season 2 all the way back in like september last year, i literally sobbed at the end of the first episode after he had that conversation about maria with the woman he met at the bar. like i am such a simp for this man, it's insane how emotional i get over it sometimes.

also i know you've watched criminal minds (the two fics u wrote were absolutely delicious btw) so i feel like you will understand this but pilgrim's actor being the same as will's just made it slightly hard for me to take him seriously. like the actor did a phenomenal job but i just couldn't help but see him as will. it was so jarring and also just a little bit funny. either way, i didn't hate the storyline as much as i thought but the connection between him and the schultz family did seem a little jarring? or like out of the blue? but i'm not sure if that's because of the writing or because of how long it took me to actually finish the show. but i think it was such an interesting way to connect the two plots even if it confused me?

then okay, like billy this season, he was a complete fucking psycho and usually ben barnes can make psychos be so hot but after he and dumont tried to like break frank by making him think he killed innocents, bro i was not on this man's side anymore. like i honestly was so mad at him. i haven't like been that mad at a character in so long, i was concerned for myself. honestly, i could have strangled billy in that moment. also dumont was just such a kind of dull character? i think the scene in like episode 12 when dumont and madani are having that conversation about like the trauma she (and billy and frank) went through was so good but that was like the most interesting i found her. i'd love to know your thoughts on her!

and like madani? i can't talk about madani without going too feral. like her and frank are my definition of bisexual panic. any time they are on the screen together, i go insane. the thought of the two of them actually is just- it's too much. i feel like madani doesn't get a lot of love in the fandom which always makes me sad because she is (to me) a literal goddess. but anyway.

I loved season 2, personally. it felt a little rushed, but I think that has to due with the fact that they planned more storylines and got cancelled because of the disney plus thing. I liked that we got to see a more fatherly side of frank with amy because it added so many more layers to his personality. we got to see it with the micro's kids, but we got to see it so much more with amy and I loved that

Marine and Arlecchino met at a masquerade ball! i personally think that Furina hosted one for her birthday every year, since it was the perfect dramatic event that she thought an archon would have for their birthday. as Furina's attendant, Marine is required to go (mostly to quell any trouble that might occur), but she usually just stands to the side since she doesn't really love huge social gatherings. Arlecchino was attending a few years back as a representative of the Harbingers (and since she's from Fontaine, she is invited to attend anyways since all citizens of Fontaine are allowed to come) and Marine struck up a conversation since she was curious and standing nearby. both of them dislike social events and started bonding, they both think it's very funny that they both happen to have relatively high standings in their respective government systems :]

a few other things about that specific evening: - Arlecchino ended up finding out Marine's position when Furina called her over for something. Marine made her own educated guess that Arlecchino was a Harbinger due to her voice and her veiled disdain for the event - they both snuck outside after a few hours and met up again to chat. Arlecchino found out that Marine loves rainbow roses for their scent -since they were both wearing masks, Arlecchino asked to see Marine's face. Marine agreed, but only if Arlecchino also took off her own mask. they still laugh about it to this day, since Marine can't see Arlecchino's face to begin with

the next time Arlecchino visited Fontaine, she spotted Marine and tapped her shoulder to ask if she remembered her, and Marine just gasped in delight and went "I could never forget such a beautiful voice!" and things just blossomed from there!

Marine does NOT work with the Fatui! she is Furina's attendant, but the people of Fontaine put a lot of trust in her like they do with Neuvillette, so in a way she's third in the hierarchy of Fontaine's government and as such is sometimes sent to meet with foreign ambassadors and things like that. she does visit the House of the Hearth often once she and Arlecchino become a couple and the children are quick to start calling her "Mother", which she doesn't mind at all (Furina and the Melusine already think of her as a mother figure) and in general she makes the children's lives a little brighter with her presence

also Arlecchino and Marine are the type to not get married for YEARS just because they're so busy and already married in their heads. at the current point of the story (after the Fontaine Archon Quests) they've been together for a bit and won't get married for a few more years. it actually takes some of the children asking Arlecchino when she'll marry Marine for her to actually propose. but they do eventually become wives and are very happy together :] Furina almost screams when she finds out because on one hand her mother figure is getting married yay!!! but on the other hand THAT'S A HARBINGER AND SHE'S SCARY

here's a few more fun facts i think YOU should know!!! - since Marine can't see, she often asks to touch Arlecchino's face to map out her features- also because she can feel Arlecchino's cheeks heat up a little and thinks it's cute - Marine calls Arlecchino either "mon cœur" (my heart) or "Arle", and Arlecchino calls Marine either "ma chérie" (my darling) or "Mari" (forgive me if the french is incorrect) - Marine is taller than Arlecchino if she stands on her toes, but shorter if she doesn't - they become the source of inspiration for a Fontainain fairy tale a few decades in the future called "The Oceanid and the Firebird" - opera :] dates :] - Arlecchino is secretly a little pleased that Marine's skin is artificial because then her nails won't accidentally scratch her - they hold hands SOOOOO MUCH. Marine even takes her gloves off which she rarely does because she's like a ball-jointed doll - Arlecchino had a braille printing machine ordered specifically so she can send Marine letters while she's in Snezhnaya - good lord there is soooooo much quiet yearning when they're apart - Marine is trying to get better at expressing herself since she sort of just calmly smiled through the 500 years and Arlecchino loves seeing her wife get excited about tiny things - they dance in the rain together - definitely a case of opposites attract appearance and aesthetic-wise - Marine opens her eyes a lot more around Arlecchino and she loves it, she adores getting to see Marine's eyes framed by her lashes. in contrast Marine loves Arlecchino's voice and will often ask her to talk about anything - FOREHEAD KISSES - the Melusine have started calling Arlecchino their second father. she can't get them to stop and Marine won't tell her how because she thinks it's hilarious

You know how when you brainrot on desertduo sm, every song you hear is just about them???? I just had a ponder and invisible strings by taylor swift vaguely represents them???

OKAY HEAR ME OUT—

(Ramble under the cut)

I believe this song can be taken from Grian's internal dialoguing. Like Grian slowly having a soft spot for Scar and realizes he's not all that bad as soon as he slowly got to know him better. Also a great allusion to Double Life that makes use of the "soulmate" thing, wherein that idea is usually represented with strings tied to people (to which where the song will be used!)

Paragraph one. Grian crossed various places just in hopes to find his soulmate (and is walking on grass), and coincidentally, met (or revealed) him surrounded by the greenery. Teal was the color of the shirt could be just his shirt getting wet from the river water that could be visioned as teal-looking. You used to work at to make a little money just basically describes Scar's conman days way back on Third and Last Life, where he would "work" to make a "little money" to which that would be resources.

Paragraph two. Grian was baffled and confused as to how everything fell exactly to where they were at. There weren't any clues to give him a sign of this eventual thing, and for some reason, it's so intriguing. And to him, it's kinda funny at how of all things, he was tied to him. He could not believe that.

Paragraph three. Bad was the blood of the song in the cab (on your first trip to LA) ; clearly, there was somr "hate" in Grian. Hate because he was paired with Scar — someone who's prone to disasters (and whatever Grian has going in with him lmao-) And there was some slight argument between them to which where they should base. Scar wanting to reside in the jungles(?) with the Jellie pandas, and Grian on a hill across Joel and Etho (but it wasnt much of an issue because Scar came to terms with it anyway by creating a compromise himself by bringing the pandad to their base, and it's because he's Scar). While that bad blood part was more on Grian, the "secret soulmate" thing was definitely a bad blood between Scar, BigB, and Grian.

Paragraph four. Now THIS. This is what I believe to be the epitome of the desertduo in this song. As time progressed and they spent more time each other, as what most would agree (and have portrayed them), they would slice each other open out of love, and bleed them out of love, yet they are the remedy to that because they love each other. Like two forces dancing, colliding and creatinf pressure and damage as they draw closer, yet every repel they take would take then closer, to only repeat the cycle again — something like that, that's how their relationship works. And the repetition of the isn't it just so pretty to think all along there some invisible string, tying you to me? Is like something that Grian repeats in his mind over and over again. Yet again, as if he was in disbelief, yet amazed. Like.. "What the hell?" And simultaneously "Wow, he's gorgeous".

Paragraph five. Forgive me if I may have made a mistake in connecting the lyrics to the "canon" story, but as far as I could remember thanks to the desert duo dynamics I see on my feed, Scar was the one who saved Grian, like his blanket — his comfort — amidst the battlefield that they were in. Maybe Grian was still scared of hurting Scar so he pushed him away, yet Scar had his arms warmly open for him, locking away Grian's insecurities by barb wiring, and by forgiving him, and forgetting the past and wanting to move on and live with him in this new life they have. They've gone through so many hardships, and even if they had briefly separated via alliances on Last Life, somehow, they would still wound up to each other's side. (Also, with Watcher Lore being applied + the power of fanfiction, A string that pulled me out of all the wrong arms right into that dive bar: it could be Scar pulling or saving Grian from the watchers without hesitation)

Paragraph six. It's not "canon" compliant, since the two of them are just so— (iykyk) Anyway. If we are to restate this into a fanfiction with no angsty ending, we could say that Grian eventually came to terms with the past and is no longer chained to it.

Paragraph seven. It was at this point as if Grian had accepted it that it was kinda a wonderful thing. He was intrigued and found it beautiful that they were tied by a mere string. Scar gave him a hard time (he did too) and misunderstandings and quarrels were created in the process too, but in the end, it still felt like heaven. Blissful. To be by his side.

But of course this is Grian who were talking about. He may have accepted it. But he won't ever openly admit it.

How “Self-indulgent” is too self-indulgent? Because I really, really, really want to write an agere fic for trapped in a dating sim, and also just want to ramble on and on about the series, even though I doubt that anyone here is even into it and I doubt that anyone would even be interested other than myself. But still- the brainrot is real and it hasn’t been this way in forever I swear!

Just started reading book three, this series has no right to be this good, especially as something I picked up originally more or less a joke.

Leon is such an arsehole, but at the same time, I love him, and he’s such a well written character that you can’t help but love him.

Because he’s thrown into horrible situations where morally the right thing is to back down and apologize, walk away, do anything other than what Leon does, but it’s exactly why I love him because he feels human. There’s moments where he genuinely cares about the people around him and opens up to them slowly and I love that. And this book is so much better than your basic harem/isekai

He’s also such a bean and so baby coded. Being a suck up to his Master and really only valuing his skill in making tea. My guy literally starts pouting in the middle of tea party because the cup of tea he was served was better than anything he could do.

Him arguing with Luxion, at one point the robot calls him out about his responsibilities and sympathizes with the amount of work being forced upon him, but then also reminds him how he was the one to say he was an adult. And literally his response is, “I still have the heart of a child.” And I just- fhdofhasoisfhsoi baby- absolutely baby coded, and you can’t change my mind about it.

You can’t tell me that Luxion isn’t overly protective of Leon as well, because if he has to be stuck with a human, might as well be one that despises other humans as well. Over protective much whenever Leon’s small. I mean he is usually following leon around anyways, but he’d soften up around him I feel.

I need to get this brainrot off my chest so today's 1880 thoughts, with rambles and no sense of direction:

There's no heterosexual explanation for Kyouya's rage whenever he sees Takeshi almost dead. I think in some ways, he is effected by that roof incident at the start of KHR. And man. When Takeshi got stabbed and almost actually died in the Shimon arc? I bet you 100% Kyouya visited him then chose violence.

And don't get me started on whatever was going on with that Genkishi battle. One glance at Takeshi and Kyouya was like 'and I took that personally'.

What's interesting is that Kyouya is extremely anal about owing people and people owing him. But he never holds it against Takeshi when he saves him. Usually he'd register a fallen man like that as a weakling, but he still holds Takeshi with high regards. He always says his full name while calling others runts, monkeys, herbivores, etc.

I think the mutual respect for each other's strength is what makes the pair so appealing. The fact that Takeshi, the biggest support pillar of the family, has someone who he can fall back onto, that he doesn't have to pretend to be okay around. Impeccable.

Recently, I was analyzing that anime-only 1880 episode ever for my powerpoint/masterpost and that thing served. Their interactions are limited, but the chemistry is off the walls. 1880 is the sort of ship where when you compare/contrast their interactions with the rest of the cast, their relationship between each other shines so bright.

I noticed something VERY interesting when watching how Takeshi behaved around his friends vs Kyouya when he was in pain about letting go of baseball. He makes no effort to hide himself at all. No laughter. No lies. He gets straight to the point and Kyouya listens. He actually listens to Takeshi a lot, surprisingly. (look at when Kyouya made a beeline to Takeshi in the Sky Battle and actually RESTED and entrusted Takeshi with his ring-- like, actually wtf was that)

Anyways. I think my favourite part about the 1880 episode ever was that Kyouya watches from afar. I think that's his way of supporting Takeshi. He quietly watches over him, and he only intervenes when Takeshi almost dies.

There was something just really sweet about the way Kyouya noticed how much baseball meant to Takeshi when he was cleaning the clubroom, giving him space. The storyboarding there actually hits so hard. He watches over Takeshi teaching the juniors from the roof then turns up to the match the very next day completely unprompted (also note how Tetsuya kept up with Namimori Middle School's baseball activities years later, hm, sus).

Meanwhile, Hayato is being a (saying this in the nicest way possible) fucking asshole the entire time, downplaying Takeshi's pain, telling him that he's not working hard enough, calling baseball a waste of time etc.

The episode is so sad to me. Takeshi letting baseball go. I think Kyouya knew the gravity of the decision. When I first watched that episode as a 12 year old, it didn't really click at first. But I've been thinking about Kyouya's response to Tetsuya when Tetsuya says 'it's a loss which leads to a brighter future'.

'Losing's useless. you have to win'.

On the surface, not only is this a very Kyouya thing to say, but most would interpret it as him not caring or-not having faith. But I think, there's a bit of symolism in here. Because the whole point of Takeshi's arc is about sacrifices SO, here's my hot take:

Kyouya isn't saying that 'if you loss, it's pointless.' literally. Because almost every single time Takeshi 'loses', he still turns up for him, doesn't he? It's not about that. If anything, I think that Kyouya is saying that Tetsuya's words when applied to Takeshi, is wrong. So if we read it as: 'Takeshi's loss of baseball leads to a brighter future', then we can interpret Kyouya's words as him saying that 'Takeshi shouldn't have to lose baseball'

Now circling back to the first thought, I think this particular incident would've been that extra catalyst for Kyouya's rage when Takeshi almost dies. Because he was out there embracing his love for baseball again. Then he almost loses his life. The audacity.

hello! reader with intense ‘all my love’ universe brainrot, I’m pretty sure your work actually changed my life lowkey HAHA I explored the music that you put into it and I can now say I’m listening to more 80s’ rock/alt and the song from the title was my top Spotify song for the last few weeks! (along with the 80s’ stuff heh) I literally made a playlist dedicated to this fic and I even was able to sorta reconnect a little with my older brother over the music which.. has shaped aspects of our siblingship..? (lol) now but I can’t thank you even more, I feel like the title itself reflects the amount of care and love you yourself put into this, anyways (sorry about the rambling LOL) I just wanted to reach out with a lowkey very angsty headcanon I had LMAO basically, and maybe because it was like semi recent idk I’m terrible with time HAHA, I was wondering/exploring how wooje’s birthdays were celebrated while he was still in his no-contact era away from home. as for the headcanon ih my GOD just stab me through the heart will you?? THATS SO ANGSTY... HELP MEEE... tho minseok in aml universe is such an interesting character because like... while wooje is no functioning/low functioning depression, minseok is definitely high functioning depression. he pretends nothings wrong but he's still falling apart on the inside. during the four years he mainly focuses on starting his business and working every day. hes a people pleaser. i think really the only person he would ever open up to would be minhyung, really. everything he does is unspoken from caring for woojes grandpa to cleaning woojes house when it became vacant. he'll do things and not talk about the reasoning or emotions behind them. he bottles stuff up until he explodes. while this headcanon is so good and sad i honestly think they wouldnt do anything in particular..? i mean, itd be a harder day for them. they miss him, so any time of year wooje would typically be in--birthdays, halloween, christmas--would be hard. rather than an outward display of their heartache i think it'd be more internal. they feel lonelier than usual, so minhyung and minseok would have each other, and hyunjoon would probably go to sanghyeok's and seongwoong's for dinner. they just cant be alone, because theres a wooje-shaped hole there. but all that being sad, four years is a long time. it gets a little easier each year. it hurts a little more each milestone. i think, when woojes gone, they do talk about him in passing, though its a tough subject at times. you know, sometimes its cheery and "i wonder how woojes doing!" and other times its.. "i wonder how hes doing." back and forth. some have healed more from it than others. i think its a partly healed scar until he arrives back home, and he sort of rips them open again (but thats sort of necessary to properly patch it back up. like they were wonky and badly fitted stitches that didnt allow for proper healing.) whew that was an accidental paragraph im so sorry.

as for jojo he is so low effort he probably buys a safeway cake and they eat it with their hands. cutie pies :> i love them

a/n: this man has me in a chokehold no explanation needed anyway enjoy this pure atsumu brainrot

since atsumu wouldn’t be allowed to wear his wedding ring during games he’d wear it on a thin metal chain around his neck

either a silver or gold chain depending on what ring he has

he’d probably keep it under the collar of his jersey tho ‘cause he wouldn’t want it bouncing around everywhere while he plays, or hitting his face when he jumps and runs around

so every time he wins a game, a really difficult point, or a service ace, he’d take it out and place a quick kiss on the ring

he probably also has your initials carved on it

to him, you’re the only lucky charm he needs, but since you can’t be on the court with him every time, his wedding ring will have to do

if you’re in the stands, he’d look over at you while he holds onto his necklace, shooting you that award winning smile of his

sometimes he throws in a wink for good measure

if you’re not physically there watching him, he’ll point to a camera and hold up his ring

sometimes he gets carried away after an exciting point or serve and meian has to tell him to chill and get his head back in the game

but it's really not his fault he's so in love with you

after the game he’ll take his chain and ring out from under his shirt so it can be seen while he takes pictures with his team or when he does post-game interviews

it became a habit soon enough

he also brings you up every. single. chance. he. gets.

with his teammates and in interviews and on his social media he's always like "yeah hard work is one thing but i wouldn't be where i am today without my s/o"

sakusa is probably sick of listening to atsumu ramble on and on about you before during and after practices

you often get texts from kiyoomi saying "y/n come get your man"

anyway, once he’s home, he’ll clean the chain and ring ‘cause “it’s got all ma nasty sweat on it, don't want ma lucky charm to wear out” (idk if that’s how sweat and metal work but wtv)

he also tells you that as important as your wedding rings are to him, nothing will ever replace you as his good luck charm

omg he just loves you so damn much

i feel like at some point he'd probably just get a tattoo of your name on his ring finger especially if there are games / organisers that don't let him wear any jewellery or accessories

and yes he gets pissed if they don't tell him beforehand, and he spends the whole game salty and pokes jabs at the organisers under his breath

his teammates usually take the brunt of his complaints (sorry jackals)

he'll still wear the ring necklace if he's allowed to tho it's like his favourite accessory

anyway he loves you so much and he never stops thinking of you ‘cause he’s just a huge simp

edits:

i think one reason his ring is so special to him (other than the fact that it's his wedding ring) is also because you proposed to him first

but i mean if you didn't, the ring is still really special to him

and even though he's a pro athlete, he still gets nervous from time to time and knowing that a little bit of you is there with him, physically or not, helps calm him down

like he rubs it a little out of nervousness every once in a while
