Screw it, I’ve been sitting on this for like over a month. My fellow Raphael simps need to know about this. This is my first crack at creating a design for Antilia, who has no official art.

She is canonically Mephistopheles’ daughter.

Yes, Raphael has a sister. A bard sister who has remained loyal to their father.

I think we can all agree Raphael has youngest child energy, so let’s just assume she’s his big sister. But immortals grow slow so I think they did grow up together. And yeah I’m about to make fucked-up evil half-devil childhoods cute. Because guys she is a bard. Can you just imagine two cambion kids running around the ice palace making up their own little twisted and evil plays to perform for the pit fiends? Grab a few of Meph’s debtors to play parts (and probably do horrible things to them but listen they’re the ones who sold their souls to the archduke of Cania).

I also like to think she and Haarlep have a thing just because they’re both spies for Meph. I also just really like the idea of him being sent to seduce the son but he’d rather be messing around with the daughter. 😭

Anyway!! I hope other people find this tiny sliver of lore fun, and I’d love to see it built upon. I’m gonna be working on her design more and adding some things. She actually has a robe of eyes in her equipment list I just didn’t have the spoons to add that to this one by the time I noticed that. If people have ideas for the design I’d LOVE to hear them! I just think there’s so much potential for headcanons and fanworks here, both silly and serious.

RAMBLE AFTER CUT!

Insanity and Infected lack empathy and are clinically insane, so you’d obviously think it’d be hard for them to even care for each other.

Yeah, you’re right lol.

It took them a while (mainly because Insanity kept jumping Infected at any given chance instead of actually talking to him) to care for each other in their own way. It’s subtle sometimes, then other times everyone is unsure if they do even care about the other’s well being.

Insanity is more prone to stay by Infected’s side instead of wondering off mid conversation. Hell, he sometimes stops himself from doing something if Infected finds it boring (if Infected finds it boring, so does Insanity?). He notices when Infected stops moving at the mention of a certain name. He doesn’t ask, since Insanity has a vague idea already. Sometimes, he’d call out his name, to see if Infected reacts. Insanity finds himself to be at his calmest when he’s with Infected. He doesn’t know why. I mean, he still does his usual, just he’s more comfortable to do so around Infected. Maybe, it’s the fact Infected doesn’t nag him, scold him, or even hold him back like countless AUs have tried. Instead, he just watches him with a small smile, joining him if he feels like it. Or maybe, it’s the times where they eat ice cream, after lighting an ice cream van on fire, that put Insanity at (somewhat) ease.

Infected found Insanity’s clinginess towards him annoying at first. But, he soon grew attached. Infected is more of a listener, more specifically, he likes to hear Insanity ramble. Sometimes, he finds himself repeating whatever Insanity has said to him, when he’s alone. At times, it might seem like Infected is bullying Insanity (not actual bullying - Infected just speaks/interacts harshly with Insanity), but this is just his way of showing some care to Insanity (poor guy doesn’t know how to show actual care because Alphatale lore - I’m lazy sorry). He often plans when they should hang out, not really where, since the both of them don’t really care. Infected doesn’t really remember when he started expecting Insanity’s visits. When he started to count down the days, the hours, the minutes, the seconds. Or when he began to talk to Insanity more, instead of just listening.

Then there are the times where they act “normal”.

Visiting peaceful AUs (when Insanity isn’t covered in blood, or holding a head), eating ice cream, sharing experiences or stories, making puns, etc.

Normally, neither would enjoy these things but, with each other it’s a whole different story.

Infected sometimes hears a thought at the back of his head when he’s having fun with Insanity.

“Is this what could’ve been, with them?”

Sometimes, he’d end up finding himself in the middle of a really loose hug, or his hand laying on Insanity’s head after the thought (head pats lol). He doesn’t know why.

Insanity does. He wouldn’t tell him though. He finds a weird comfort in this (bro is touch starved but doesn’t know that - same with Infected).

Essentially, they’ve built up a familial connection with each other. Seeing each other as family.

(More so Infected, as he views Insanity as a younger sibling, because his actual family barely interact with him outside of fighting the guy)

AHH i keep being asked this and im flattered yall think this?? ill take a bit to explain the choices that help with my speed and circumstantial stuff that helps a lot

obligatory YOU DON'T NEED TO DO THINGS FAST taking your time is good!! i just get bored easily so i like being done with things and moving on, but i'm very aware of the fact that social media rewards this and punishes inconsistency so i get it lol

long ass ramble under the cut lol

okay so things i deliberately do to draw fast-

i specifically have 2 distinct styles because i constantly have too many ideas, and most of them don't need to be several hour long illustrations so i try to pick my battles and go for a simpler more expressive style for shitposts/memes/etc and reserve my more detailed style for ideas that actually benefit from having that extra time and effort. ofc this won't work for everyone but i tend to have 50 styles at any given moment anyway so giving myself the freedom to switch between them has been really nice

not necessarily deliberate??? but theres no perfectionism in this house, which helps a lot so i don't spend ages fussing over minute details (im a perfectionist at heart but a lazy one LOL)

giving myself time deadlines is also really helpful, like "i have to finish the lineart im the next half an hour" has been really good for getting me to focus and get things done, even if i don't make the 'deadline'. i think generally being conscious of how i use my time is good

okay so circumstantial (?) things-

ALSO USE REFERENCES they help a lot!!! stumbling around trying to figure things out on your own is time consuming, don't be scared of using references!

this isn't a speed thing but i think it's important to note that i spend like ALL my free time drawing, probably to a ridiculous degree. i draw during my work break, i draw after work, on the weekend, speed is nothing in the face of time lol. im usually tired after work but im also stubborn so i try to push through and draw anyway (50/50 chance it works and i get something done or i just sit there in a daze wishing i was asleep LOL)

im also a dumbass who takes on way too much, i have a whole buncha zines and commissions constantly at all times cause i can never say no so i kinda just HAVE to be fast to keep up with everything. i don't recommend it but it's a thing ashdjfj

i also used to be on tiktok and for some god forsaken reason i spent like a solid few months consistently posting 3 times per day which burnt me out SO fast and i absolutely don't recommend but it definitely required speed lol

i will also say that as i draw more and feel more comfortable in my art it comes to me a lot more naturally, and i'm able to make decisions on the fly a lot easier

also okay so starr lore my dad used to be really against me drawing so i would have to sneak onto the computer when he was out of the house hahaha, this gave me anywhere from 30 mins to 2 hours per day to do whatever i wanted, so i had to quickly adapt to that and be super fast if i ever wanted to get anything done

again speed isnt the be all end all of anything, tbh most of this is just my brain working in weird ways that prefers the quicker pace so please don't compare yourself!!

So a take on TOTK’s ending I’ve seen quite a bit of is the idea that it deprived all dramatic weight from Zelda’s sacrifice and that she should have suffered the consequences of her choice (I.e. stay a dragon forever or come back as a dragon human hybrid). Also said take accuses the ending of being cheap, lazy, unearned, and a deus ex machina. This strikes me as a shallow reading of the text and another example of how some people think punishment (or in this case “dying for a cause”) is the only viable ending for someone who made the choice Zelda made. It really rubs me the wrong way given all the development and tragedy she faced in both games. What are your thoughts?

The thing is that she is bound, whether she likes it or not, by destiny. The cycle of reincarnation of Ganon (Demise’s hatred) is NOT over at the end of Totk. Each time he resurrects, it is vital that a warrior with the soul of the hero, and a girl with the blood of the goddess appear to fight him. If Zelda stayed a dragon? Well then the world is doomed, because the goddess’s bloodline ends with her.

To me it’s not even a question of “throwing away her sacrifice” or having a “cheap happy ending”. It’s a matter of the fact that through whatever means it took, she had to turn back from a dragon for the world to have any hope of survival the next time ganon resurrects.

We don’t know if this specific hero and princess will see him again. Botw/Totk Link and Zelda may or may not have just had their last battle with him- we don’t know yet. Totk’s ending is left open to possibilities. Through what she says, we know Zelda will try her best to bring forever peace to hyrule, but we don’t know if she will face ganon again to achieve that, or if she will only be able to simply restore the kingdom, but not stop the cycle.

But no matter what, the next time that damn incarnation of hatred comes back, she or her descendent has to be there. The sword can do a lot, but the hero has always needed someone with the goddess’ power to seal the evil as well.

No matter how much we want a lasting sacrifice, the legend of Zelda is, at its heart, a cycle. A legend that repeats, over and over. And each piece of the cycle must live on, as least until demise’s curse is (hopefully eventually) broken. We have to have a surviving Zelda or the cycle is broken and evil wins.

(Also it does seem a little unnecessarily cruel to insist that the girl who has now been stuck fighting evil and exerting sacred power for a hundred through thousands of years TWICE have a terrible ending. She suffered enough- enough that a dragon shed tears. Let her get her well earned rest- the world needs her as a person. The ending is not unearned- on the contrary getting her life back is exactly what she earned. Don’t insist on a sad ending just for the sake of sadness. There is enough darkness, so why not enjoy the ending rather than enforcing suffering on someone who deserves a chance to live? There is already plenty of drama that can be watched anytime in the memories.)

I think all viewpoints are valid, and I can understand their point. While I do not know everything, I personally prefer to look at the lore- the actual roots of the story that lead to the endings. And the lore of Zelda is pretty clear- those goddess gals gotta live on.

And as far as the emotional part? I love the ending. I don’t like sappy stuff, and I’m not crying happy tears, but that ending is far more fulfilling than leaving the world (and Link) missing a really awesome person.

Anyways that’s my two cents worth :) It’s not a matter of what ending we wanted- she has to survive, or the next time ganon comes around, the world is doomed.

Welcome to my art, where I only draw refs for characters I never use. Today’s instalment is Void, a character who used to have a purpose (and might again someday), but is currently just a cool design I have.

As their latest lore goes, Void is the spirit of death. They don’t do any of the soul collecting, though. They’re more of a shepherd. They oversee an army of little grim reaper creatures who bring the souls back to the afterlife, where Void tends to them. Void’s gender is ambiguous because they never speak out loud, and they have no obvious physical traits to identify biological sex. They don’t care what people call them, so people just pick whatever works.

This character has sort of been slotted into an idea I had that, in a dream scenario, would be some kind of game. Imagine Creatures of Sonaria but the survival aspects are better. Of course, I lack the motivation and skill to make that idle dream a reality, so it’ll probably never happen. In this hypothetical game, Void would be an NPC that you can do missions for.

Anyway, I’d write more (is it weird to make descriptions long on Tumblr?) but it’s almost midnight and I’m. So tired. See you guys (all 18 of you, wow) tomorrow. If things go to plan, I’ll be posting again on Jan 1st because I do a yearly redraw on New Year’s Eve/Day. I’m excited to work on it. I feel like I’ve improved a lot with my scene art this year, and unless I get lazy I'll probably try to paint it so that might turn out cool. Ok bye

🔥 anything tsc related

the biggest problem with Queen of Air and Darkness to me is that it really should have been two books. I really enjoy the grief exploration in that book in the wake of Livvy’s death felt cathartic to me on reread and I find Julian’s switch-off arc in relation to that fascinating. I enjoy Thule in terms of how it ties into the main arc with the blackthorns although I’m not crazy about the twp set ups from it. Basically there’s quite a bit in that book I do like but as a finale it’s rushed and disappointing. I also do think either Julian or Emma or both dying would have made the ending slay and I say this as someone who clearly looooves them both and Blackstairs (considering how much I love blackstairs as it is think I would be even more insane about it if we got full tragic potential realized).

Grace x Lucie is thee toxic yuri dynamic in tsc and I think ya’ll are cowards for not paying attention to it. Literally the only reason I would reread tlh is to write fic about them ChoI era because someone should.

on a related note Lucie Herondale reads as a lesbian to me, she says at one point she’s never been attracted to a boy other than Jesse who is kind of a phantom she can make into whatever she wants / project storybook romance tropes onto in a sense for most of the books and she reads as more attracted to Cordelia with the whole ‘Beautiful Cordelia’ fanfiction and like I said her most interesting dynamic with the most chemistry is her and Grace, so yeah I get comp het vibes personally I know that’s my subjective read.

I’m pretty neutral on Clary sometimes I really liked her sometimes I was frustrated by her but I do think this counts as unpopular since most either hate or love her. I do think she falls into the 2010s heroine who is written to have an overly romantically focused arc but all her interesting bits of characterization are about tangential platonic dynamics that the author doesn’t care to elaborate on much… but also this could be an ungenerous or overly generous assessment since it’s been years since I touched og tmi. I do side eye some people for giving Jace a lot of grace to be ‘complex’ and process his trauma and be dismissive of how much she goes through in the books ( I kind of hate Jace. without nuance)

I think I deserve one on one Tessa and Julian interactions in twp, not for any logical reason I just think I deserve it since they’re my two favorite tsc characters. And there’s a lot of fan service in recent tsc anyway… let me have this.

Kieran is overrated I don’t dislike him and enjoy him in the context of Kierarktina and as a foil to Julian, but I don’t fervently love him the way a lot of people do. (I also really disliked his fandom when the tda books were coming out so that might influence this).

I want Thule! Emma to come into play in twp … I’m very interested in the idea of her in the aftermath of Thule Julian and Sebastian’s deaths. I had an idea for a fic about her but didn’t write it partly because of laziness partly because I felt I’d have to go back to tmi to remember endarkened lore for that.

Grace Blackthorn discourse was kind of unserious… not because I don’t think people can have valid reasons to dislike her obviously those exist. What she did to James was sexual assault and of course fans who hate her for it are valid. But I COULD NOT with some of statements about her especially on twitter that were like ‘well if she was a Male Character ya’ll would never forgive her and she would never get a redemption arc she only does cause she’s a pretty white girl’ like GORL. GORL what universe are you living in what paranormal/fantasy media do you consume and engage in fandoms for if you think that a male character who does a nebulous magical consent violation is going to get Less grace (no pun intended) from the narrative and fandom than a female character and would NEVER get a redemption arc. I can’t even ya’ll are dumb. If I’m being really generous maybe they just don’t read/watch a lot of paranormal media other than tsc because otherwise I…

I’m giving you the opportunity to info dump about anything. And i mean anything be it something to do with one of your aus (we love lore) or even about any interests you may have (i know you like the fun-guys, whats your favourite shroom👀?)

Sidenote i just thought of this when typing the shroom question, i really thought that during feb that you mightve dabbled with the funguary prompts. Idk i thought you’d really like those. Like pair up a shroom with a character or something and go wham with it. Idk where i was going with this… yeah

I JUST STRAIGHT UP FORGOT to answer this ask hhdhdhdg whoops. I lost whatever idea I had to ramble about so I'm going to use this as an excuse to ramble about my thought process thus far behind the merhog Shadow I'm working on

(I keep forgetting Funguary exists and my database of Fungi Knowledge is unfortunately not specific enough for me to parcipate ahfhjdjsjsj)

Anyways. With merhog designs, I tend to have a "speculative biology" approach to it, i.e the different merhog design elements make some sense in context. I think I mentioned before that designing Creatures and Robots scratch a similar itch in my brain; and this is why. You can tell a bunch about how a Creature moves, eats, and lives just based on their physical traits. Same goes for robots!

Of course, I'm still an artist first and foremost. So when it comes to creature design, I still put aesthetics and Vibes™️ first before realism XD

with that out of the way, here's the rambles about the In-Progress merhog shadow design. No images because I'm lazy ahdhdjs

My first thought with the merhog shadow design was that "I have to throw a little bit of Godzilla inspo in there". I've had Godzilla on the brain since I watched the new movie with Kong a few weeks ago lol. And bc I like bioluminescence way too much, he's gonna be a glowy boiiiii.

I'm thinking he does actually have atomic breath and can subsist off/absorb nuclear energy. In the hypothetical au this design is from, the ARK would be an underwater facility that was destroyed in a nuclear explosion of some sort. Shadow was the only survivor and he "haunts" the spot to this day.

Shadow's concept isn't as clear to me as Silver's was. Vaguely, I want him to be more reptile-adjacent as a callback to the Biolizard and the Black Arms. I feel like going full reptile would make him look too bulky and slow so I'm still working it out.

This is the current iteration of the design so far:

I like the idea of merhog Shadow having two huge front flippers that can sort of act like extra hands. the flippers were partially based by a winged Black Arms enemy I forgot the name of + humpback whale fins. the little bumps on the front side of the fins? they're for speed, like with actual humpbacks. The little claw is NOT biologically realistic at all, but it looks cool and im already planning to take inspo from godzilla anyways so. yeah.

In general I think I might just take a more fantastical approach to Shadow? It feels fitting with his canon origins being weird.

For his head, I decided to turn his quills into tentacles, specifically of the Vampire Squid. There are spikes underneath to protect the back of his head from roundhouse kicks (bc he's the only one allowed to do that lmao). I'm thinking he might also have a false eye pattern in the center of the tentacles? A deterrent to potential predators + as a callback to Doom's Eye.

His eye markings get a little change too. They can emit red light, just like Stoplight Loosejaw (yes that's a real fish name) which have organs underneath their eyes that emit red light to hunt prey with. I imagine merhog Shadow would also have its extremely messed up jaw configuration ✨ I don't know how I would draw it though ✨✨✨

As far as solid inspiration goes, that's what I have so far. I'm considering giving Shadow more whale-adjacent features. With how huge his front flippers are, I think it'd make sense that he'd be more of a power swimmer? aka he has a big tail that does most of the work propelling him forward, and the flippers are to reduce the energy cost while also increasing speed and maneuverability. It would be a close enough analog to his skating, maybe????

He doesn't sound very fast but then again, I imagine neither is merhog Silver lol

I don’t even know what, why, or even HOW, I even done P!ATD RP. I was about to be in middle school when all of this started.

Over time of maturity, I got old with these Panic! RPF crap and getting too uncomfortable and to even write. these are real people with actual lives like me.I treat them like they’re fictional characters.

i mean, they’re musicians. so they gotta act “brandable”, meaning faking who they are until they make it. (ahem, brendon urie…)

Until being homeschooled.

Because i was extremely isolated from the world, I haven’t communicate, leave the house, or even see sunlight in MONTHS by now. I got back doing RPF with my SLUR Stupid Lazy Urie and Ross friends on discord. It’s the only way to keep me sane. Though, this lead me to do more creativity work (with a limited amount of time due to school and poor body motor)

Panic! RPF has new au characters, face claim characters, make-no-sense-but-i-do-it-anyway characters and such.

Majority of the editing and learning how to actually photoshop, was using FaceApp and ibis paint. As I learn more understanding of human anatomy, my editing has improved more believable, or pretty to view.

After then, I started to rebrand these characters, for something else. I already made non copyrighted names.

Example: Brenda(Brendon) —> Brianna

I was thinking of my concept in work series “Mormon Morons”. a daily short comic series about, two half missionary brothers, going causing disappointing trouble, in a new town they were deported to. Danny and Alex (main characters) were inspired by my vision and love the relationship between Dallon and brendon. my major hypertension people I love. (mainly dallon.) I see them as brothers. So, i’m not a fan of, romantic and sexual relationships people and themselves, were try to make.

Then there’s another concept idea that I just thought of last night ago. Material Disorders.

Inspired by group of ableist from 4chan, characterising the stereotypes of mental disorder, to the point where they’re treating them like a joke then a helpful message.

Anyways, with that way more awkward than necessary start-off, thought of what is essentially a shitpost (sorry for cursing, I don’t know a better word that encapsulates it) I randomly thought of and after turning it over in my head a few times thought it’d apply to Alex and Mallory (might be a stretch?) so figured I’d share. Will say, uh, warning? It involves drilling a hole through your skull so idk do with that what you will.

For context, long story short, my train of thought led me on a random internet spiral (real fun just going where ever your brain takes you, highly recommend if you can spare like 4 hours and get overwhelmed trying to process everything) and I randomly remembered how in ye olden days there was a thing called trepanning (might’ve spelled it wrong but we die like men or something. Also I’m too lazy to check) which, to put it simply, was where humans would drill a hole in their skull to relieve pressure on the brain for headaches (and also something about evil spirits but hey humans were strange back then. Arguably still are) and surprisingly enough, it had a success rate of like 80 percent (78 in the iron ages whatever that means). Archeologists have literally found human skulls with holes in them. It’s crazy and also really fascinating how humans think of the most hecked up ways to cure the most menial things

Anyways, with that fun little history lesson/context out of the way, my brain immediately thought of a scenario where some type of immortal (actual immortal, vampire, uh…that’s all I got. Basically anyone who’s lived in ye olden days and survived to tell it in whatever modern period) is fed up and it’ll probably make more sense in the below format (maybe?):

Person A: *in some sort of pain from a migraine/headache or whatever* “Dude, all I’m asking for is an Advil”

Person B (the immortal, several thousand years older): “Jesus you’re pathetic. Back in MY day, if we had a headache, we got a hole drilled in our skull without anesthesia and look at me, I turned out swell, I’m not complaining. You can last a day without an Advil you weak willed sad sack of blood and bones. Besides you have an ice pack, isn’t that enough?”

Person A: “Yeah, okay boomer, you sure they didn’t drill TOO deep and take out some brain matter? I swear for someone supposedly so “old and wise” you’re actually an idiot. Get with the times, we have technology. Do you also still use leaves as toilet paper?”

Person B: “NOW THATS UNCALLED FOR YOU LITTLE **** AT LEAST I DIDN'T HAVE TAXES”

Person A: “THE HELL YOU MEAN YOU DON'T? I SAW YOUR NAME ON THE IRS WEBSITE DOR CALL-INS DON'T MAKE ME CALL THEM OVER”

Person B: “THIS IS BETWEEN YOU AND ME NOT MY TAXES—“

Okay I added the tax part because I thought it was funny, but you get the idea; Fight escalates way too much, yada yada so on so forth. I can definitely see that sort of scenario playing out with those two if the time period was like that. Definitely using it for my own characters as well though (new lore idea, one of them just has a hole in their skull)

(Also, been meaning to start reading some stuff on my to read and one of those things is the crossover Vampires and Villains. For the precontext, how far up the vampire one do I have to read? I finished the main but is the spinoff necessary? You don’t have to answer this one, just curious is all)

Oooooh this is so fascinating! I've heard of that trepanning thing before, but I didn't know that was the term for it.

Isn't it crazy how humans invented all these absurdly wild fixes for health issues? Like, who the heck came up with the idea that "Oh, you have a headache? Let's try drilling into your literally SKULL and see if it helps! Surely nothing bad could happen, right?"

It's insane to think about. Especially in the old days when advanced medical technology just wasn't there and people had to invent their own remedies on the spot.

And even in somewhat modern times people are investing new crazy ways to fix things. Like, did you know that if your finger is cut off and can't be reattached, surgeons can just amputate one of your toes and sew it onto your finger stump to give you a new usable finger? So you can literally have a toe on your hand that performs the same tasks your finger would have if it was still there (since fingers are vital for so many day-to-day activities, and toes aren't as useful so why not use them for spare parts? It sounds so weird to refer to them like that)

Makes me wonder who was the first person to think of these kind of solutions and them TRY them out on a person??

And to answer the last part of your ask, while reading the vampire story spinoff isn't technically nessarsary to understand 80% of the context of the crossover, but there are some MAJOR SPOILERS in the crossover if you don't read the spinoff first (very big exaggeration on 'major' -- the spoilers are huge). So if you're fine with spoilers you can read Villains and Vampires, but there will also be some missing context as well. So I'd highly recommend reading the spinoff first (only if you want though, of course).

I'm really really enjoying myself, even as I begin to compare other things in life to homestuck. My quality of life will never return to where it was pre-homestuck, but I feel more cultured. More alive. I really like Homestuck, I am a true believer, and that cannot be undone.

Here, it’s clarified that Spades Slick is an alternate version of Jack Noir from the trolls’ session, who was exiled along the way. Same with Snowman being an alternate version of the Black Queen. A: It seems like at some point in some way the kids are going to fuck up the trolls’ game, but the trolls’ actions aren’t exactly completely revenge-oriented.

Q: What implications might Dave's future time powers have for their group? Why did Hussie refrain from showing us Dave's entry to the medium?

A: I’m sure Dave’s time powers will be used sparingly and keep the timeline very sane. Maybe Time Shit is the reason we didn’t see Dave enter the medium, but I mainly think it’ll be because something cool hatched from the egg.

Q: Why does Lil Cal have a dream self?

A: I’m not sure to what extent the dreams are dreams and you can manifest shit in them. Maybe Dave dreams of his brother’s puppet, maybe Cal is alive and is also asleep and dreaming.

1988: This recap mentions the frog temple that would later root itself near Jade’s house, and I actually am thinking about that. The frog temple meteor is shown inside a crater on top of a flat, dark bottom. The frog temple on Earth is shown to be built on top of cooled lava flowing into a crater where a meteor landed. Further, the frog temple the exiles live in is right beside a huge hole where the volcano used to me. This might be another stable time loop thing. Maybe the meteor temple with bec and sburb crash lands beside the volcano, and then is sort of recreated? And then somehow that temple gets uprooted into being the meteor temple. This recap also seems to be the only way to know what happened on 1961 because on god there is no mention of a bunny and then the bunny just appears with no explanation

Q: How does the process of ectobiology work? Is Dave's bro really his brother, and are John and Jade's grandparents really their grandparents? Where does John's dad fit in with this?

A: Ectobioloy makes a clone of a thing using its paradoxified goop. I don’t think Dave’s bro is necessarily his dad though. In an even sampling, 50% mom and 50% bro, then Dave would have the same genetic relationship to his brother as one would with their dad. But the goop mixing wasn’t the same process of chromosome pairs doing their thing that guarantees a 50 50 split, it was just a mixture of goop. He could share 25% of his DNA with his brother, or any other percentage!

Q: How do all three bunnies that John receives relate to one another? Who do you think Jade's pen pal is?

First, Nicholas Cage returns the bunny to the props department of that movie, and from there it changes hands at various Hollywood auctions until somehow Dave is able to snatch it up. Dave sends it to John, who later fucks it up with oil and shit. John gives the fucked up bunny to baby rose, who repairs it later in life, and sends it to John. John gives the repaired bunny to baby Jade, who upgrades it with the help of her pen pal, none other than her own grandfather (going by how he talks and the time shenanigans in play). Jade then sends it back to John, but it’s intercepted by the plot.

Q: How was Bec created, and how might he become important to the plot?

He was made from the DNA of Halley and whatever genetic code was in Rose’s book. It’s probably fine! Probably doesn’t indicate anything that Jack Noir is most likely the one to have set it up.

Q: What are the implications of someone's dream self dying, as Jade's did in [S] Descend?

Probably means nothing happens when they dream, which means no more future vision. I hope Jade isn’t too upset about it, if I see her sad I WILL take it out on my surroundings.

Q: What does the reckoning do? What might it mean for the kids' session that theirs has started early? Do you think they're doomed to fail?

The reckoning seems to be what ends the game session by blowing up Skaia and the planets. The kids might be doomed to fail, cause anything goes in a webcomic, but I’d rather see them overcome.

A: Seems like Doc Scratch meddling is the catalyst, but I’d hesitate to say he’s the cause. He’s kinda right, he sort of just pointed Vriska in a direction. It’s gonna cause a lot of mistrust leading into the Sgrub game, which probably won’t have any consequences.

Q: Who is Doc Scratch, and who is his equivalent in the kids' universe? Why do you think he's meddling with the trolls?

The shit he’s doing to the trolls may be for the purpose of getting Lord English in play. It’s not lost on me that the space server that summons that demon is shaped like the last GameFAQs server sent by Rose. He seems equivalent to Bec, unless there’s more than one unique special genetic code lying around. And who’s the kids’ equivalent to Lord English? Ass pull: Jack Noir.

Swap Clay color/idea concepts! 

He needs therapy!! (also for the season 5 design I got hella lazy, maybe ill stylize it more in the future idk). Anyway, like with swap Jestro’s post, here are some fun facts about Swap Clay (+ Merlok):

Merlok’s gem now has his eye in it, Design-wise this is so its more than just a talking sword and I can do funny things with it. However lore wise it can add as an extra pair of eyes for Clay, especially when he puts the sword oh his back, basically acting as a way that you really can’t sneak up around him

Instead of Clay just suddenly getting zapped to be evil again in season 3/4, he more sacrificed himself so Jestro could escape. While picking up Jestro from the Funnyton Comedy show (Jestro does that on the sidelines in this au after the events of season 1/2) they were met with Merlok who is now an walking suit of armor that’s running on electricity. While Cloud Monstrox needed someone since....he didn’t have hands...Merlok needed someone since staying in the entire armor he is in costs a lot of energy and magic. In the end, Clay ends up taking the bolt of lightning, turning him evil once more. With this, Merlok focus’s his consciousness into that gauntlet on Clay’s hand. Throughout season 3 and 4 in this au, Clay takes A L O T of lightning shocks as the dude is way more resistant to all of this than og Jestro was. Stone Jestro broke his arm at one point, probably the reason he found his magical abilities in the first place. I’m not making something like this for the rest of the characters, considering they basically just change color.

Fëanorian Quenya

Hey friends! Do you like elves? Do you like the Silmarillion? Do you like Fëanor and co? And most of all, do you like spending hours thinking about minor details pertaining to made-up languages??? If so, boy do I have a treat for you! Let’s delve into the weird world of Fëanorian Quenya and explore some history and mechanics of why they talk Like That.

I’ve seen a lot of posts joking about the Fëanorian lisp, which is about as funny as a joke about a speech impediment can be. 👍 It’s important to understand, though, that this IS a joke. No, they didn’t really speak with a lisp. Yes, they did pronounce some S sounds as TH. That’s the critical disclaimer here: SOME. It’s not a blanket pronunciation. There’s a lot of background research that goes into determining which words would be pronounced with S and which would be TH, and that’s what we’re going to look at.

So if this is something you’ve come across in fandom and you’re not totally sure on the details, or if you ARE sure and just want some more in-depth info, read on.

The stuff probably everybody knows already

For anyone who’s been hanging around the Fëanorian corner of the Silm fandom for more than three minutes, there’s about a 100% chance you’ve heard of Fëanor’s penchant for retaining an archaic TH pronunciation after the majority of the Noldor went ahead and started pronouncing this sound as S instead. You may also know that this sound is represented by the letter thorn (Þ) in HoME, but since thorn doesn’t exist in modern English orthography and it’s a pain to keep typing the ALT code, I’m sticking to TH here. Anyway, all this was due to the fact that Fëanor was a huge mama’s boy, and his mom Míriel Therindë (later called Serindë, which made Fëanor want to punch walls and possibly also fellow elves) was an outlier who retained the TH after it fell out of use. Her son Fëanor, in turn, kept this up to honor her. Now, whether or not he would have bothered if this sound hadn’t literally been a critical part of her name is debatable, but that debate is outside the scope of this essay.

Fëanor continued to use the TH pronunciation until his death, and required his sons to use it as well. Finwë, however, switched over to S after the death of Míriel and before his marriage to Indis. Fëanor, reasonable and level-headed as he was, took this as a personal insult and decided that anybody who rejected TH likewise rejected him. So presumably, his loyal followers would have obeyed his totally reasonable demands not to give in to the seductive S-shift.

Why tho

Why did the Noldor decide to alter their pronunciation from TH to S? Great question. Nobody really knows. For the hell of it? IDK. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ But the important thing to understand is that elves, and especially Noldor, were really committed to making sure their language sounds cool. This is why it changed so much and so comparatively quickly for an immortal population: they were actively invested in changing it. They liked inventing new words and exploring new sounds and messing around with grammar.

So at some point some influential Noldo might have been like, hey y’all, let’s stop saying TH and say S instead! And everyone (except Míriel I guess, who was known for her elegant manner of speech and didn’t want to muck that up by changing pronunciation of a whole letter) was like, whoa, capital idea my good egg. And they went with it. Previous ideas along these lines included ‘hey y’all, let’s stop saying KH and say H instead’ and ‘hey y’all, let’s stop saying Z and say R instead’, and those went over swimmingly. Nobody could have foreseen the problem this TH to S business would cause.

Now here’s a fun fact. There was another change to Noldorin pronunciation that happened AFTER Fëanor’s birth, that he himself was involved in. This one was all about bilabial to labiodental F. And those sure are some words, so if you don’t know what I’m talking about (I don’t blame you), BILABIAL is a more whispery sound that happens when you say F using only air passing through your pursed lips, and LABIODENTAL is when you say F with your top teeth touching your bottom lip. Going forward I’m going to use PH to represent the bilabial sound, and F for the labiodental.

So F got on the radar of the Noldor via the Teleri, who used this sound in their language. And ol’ Fëanor figured it would be awesome to incorporate it into Quenya because he thought the PH sounded too close to HW, and the two were getting confused by lazy speakers. Why did he care? Because of his dad’s name and his own, of course. If people started to get lazy in their pronunciation, we’d end up with Hwinwë and Hwëanáro, which would be terrible and stupid and unacceptable. He accused the Vanyar of leaning down that road, and he wanted to stop that kind of shift before it happened to the Noldor. How to do that? Why, by instigating a different shift from traditional Noldorin PH to Telerin F!

“Hey y’all, let’s stop saying PH and say F instead!”

“Whoa, capital idea my good egg.”

Moral of the story: Fëanor is only concerned with Quenya pronunciation insofar as it affects his own name and the names of family members he likes. He does not care whether it’s staying the same or moving to a new sound so long as it personally makes him feel good and his name sound cool. Therefore the true way to piss him off would be to call him Curuhwinwë Hwëanáro, son of Serindë.

Okay so here’s how it works

Now that history is out of the way, let’s get back to how TH was used by the Fëanorians. As I mentioned earlier, TH wasn’t a blanket pronunciation. It all depended on the original form of the word, and whether the root had a TH or an S. And some very similar-sounding words come from different roots, so this can get tricky. A great resource that’ll give you this information is Eldamo: Quenya words where the S was originally TH are marked out with the Þ (thorn) symbol in the wordlist.

Some examples:

Súlë (spirit, breath) comes from the root THŪ, which means it would be pronounced with a TH. Silma (white crystal) comes from the root SIL, so it and related words like Silmaril would be pronounced with an S. No Fëanorian would say Thilmaril. Isil (moon), however, is a similar-sounding word that comes from a different root: THIL. Olos (mass of flowers) comes from the word LOTH, but: Olos (dream) comes from the root LOS. Fëanorian pronunciation would immediately differentiate between these two words.

While Fëanorians may have retained the distinct pronunciation of TH vs S, other Noldor can still differentiate between original S and S-that-used-to-be-TH in their writing. There are specific tengwar to use depending on the word’s original form. Silmë (the one that looks like a 6) is used for original S, while súlë (or thúlë, the one that looks like an h) is used for original TH.

Which other elves used this sound in their speech?

Fandom has really latched on to this TH as a Fëanorian thing, but it wasn’t that exclusively. The TH sound was actually ubiquitous in other elven languages, and in Valinor, only the Noldor dropped it. It was still used in Telerin and in Vanyarin Quendya. The Vanyar retained the TH not because of anything to do with Míriel, but just because they were a little more conservative and their language didn’t pick up on all the changes that the Noldor made. They also noped out of the Z to R shift the Noldor initiated, opting to keep the Z around.

When Indis married Finwë, she stopped using the normal Vanyarin TH and switched over to S as a gesture of loyalty to him and his people. Finarfin, however, out of love for the Vanyar and Teleri, switched BACK to TH. I like to think about how much it would have annoyed Fëanor that his snot-nosed kid brother was speaking correctly, but for the wrong reason. Go down one more generation, and Galadriel very specifically did not use TH. But this time it was absolutely a choice made as a glaring middle finger to Fëanor.

What this means for your fanfic or whatever

The big takeaway here: you can’t just have Fëanorians replace every S with TH and call it a day.

If you’re inventing names for your Fëanorian OCs or coming up with phrases for them to say, it’s important to look into the history of all Quenya S-words you end up using to determine if they should be S or TH. If Fëanor got mad about somebody saying Serindë instead of Therindë, he’d get equally mad about somebody saying Thilmaril instead of Silmaril and assume they were mocking him. Remember: this is a dude with no chill. (On the other hand, if you WANT somebody to be mocking Fëanor, Galadriel would 100% do this because she has an equally negligible amount of chill.)

It’s also important to note that the TH isn’t a true shibboleth, since pretty much all elves EXCEPT the non-Fëanorian Noldor use it. And even the S-preferring Noldor would still be able to pronounce the TH. Those who went into exile would go on to use it commonly in Sindarin, and those who remained in Valinor would still encounter it among the Vanyar and Teleri. So if you’re writing a scene where somebody has to pronounce a TH word to prove their loyalty… yeah, everyone can pass this test. And in the opposite direction, you can’t use TH to prove somebody’s an evil Fëanorian, either. They might just be Vanyarin or something. Or, like. Really Old.

Would the sons (and followers) of Fëanor keep using TH after his death? Oh hell yeah. This is an entire family unfamiliar with the concept of not dying on hills. They will keep using it unto the ending of the world. Actually, with Sindarin becoming the common language of Middle-earth from the First Age, probably not a lot of change happened in exilic Quenya. It became a lore language: a piece of living history. It would have been preserved as it was when the original speakers left Valinor.

(And then, thousands of years later, Galadriel finally returns home to Tirion like, Long have mine eyes awaited this most blissful of sights, and ne’er hath my sprit soared with such grace, for I am returned! And all the Amanyar Noldor stare at her like, whatchu bangin on bout, eh? Because they had nothing better to do in the peace of Valinor than push Quenya to brave and frankly questionable new horizons.)

Anyway, there you go: a somewhat brief history of Fëanorian Quenya. I hope you found this informative and useful, or at the very least not boring. Obvs this is super condensed and, uh, not particularly scholarly, but I promise I know what I’m talking about. I have a university degree! reader impact || first meeting: archon edition

series masterlist characters: venti, zhongli genre: fluff summary: a game has been released entitled genshin impact, consisting of otherworldly abilities relying on the basic elements of nature. the game follows the story of an interdimensional traveling twin in search of their other half. along this journey, they meet different characters that live in this world. including you. notes: i still don't know if this will be a series but last post would've been too long if i had all four in one

venti's playthrough -

hoo boy, venti's streams would be VERY chaotic.

this boy has nothing to tie him down except for his own mortality, but will that stop him? no.

lots of late night or early morning streams because his sleep schedule is practically nonexistent.

he does a lot of singing or storytelling streams, which is why the time is perfect.

he'll sing lullabies and read bedtime stories at night. in the morning, he'll sing soft songs to wake up his viewers and talk about the rare dreams he'd have once he passes out.

he'll also have drinking streams where he just drinks as much as he can. he's a drunkard, what can i say?

anyway, gaming is something he isn't opposed to, but mainly ones with music or just pure crackhead energy.

when his viewers suggest genshin impact, he'd be somewhat hesitant?

he needs games that are chaotic and filled with energy to keep his attention.

his mods and viewers, however, are able to convince him because of a certain drunken character.

as soon as he sees the non-spoiled description of your character, he's off to download.

he actually enjoys a lot of the adventure aspects of the game, even if he's known as a lazy streamer.

anyway, his viewers definitely should have warned him about your appearance.

they never told him you were such a cute character!

"don't be afraid. it's alright now, i'm back."

he shrieked when you started talking.

"HOW ARE THEY SO CUTE?!?!"

he gets sad when his character sets off dvalin...

you disappear and your dragon friend flies off... now venti's just sad he might've made you upset.

he's pouting the whole way through mondstadt, thinking of ways to make it up to you.

he doesn't care if you're a video game character, he loves you nonetheless.

and once dvalin shows up in mondstadt, he's genuinely excited. he knows your bound to appear again because your friend is here.

when you help venti fly behind dvalin, his chat is teasing him because of the grin on his face.

he's so soft for you, man...

he will spend hours just ranting about you when he's going through the domains with the standard characters.

when he finds the other statues in mondstadt, he likes to climb up it to admire your archon design.

even though he's known you for a few minutes, he will automatically recognize your face in the game.

he knows it's annoying but he can't help but ask his chat if he'll get to see you again soon. he really doesn't want to spend hours without hearing you and seeing you in game.

he likes to yell at paimon whenever she makes fun of you

he shrieks again when he sees you running past the fountain.

he almost cries when he sees you playing your lyre for the first time.

you're perfect in his eyes and all he wants is to spend every minute of this game with you.

although, he did have to take a break the first time he saw your archon form illustrated.

you just... look like an angel and his body can't handle that.

he loves listening to your tales. like the battle pass story that occurs every time it renews, he never skips it. soon, he'll memorize it and recite it with you once it appears.

"oh! i remember you two. you both scared dvalin away!"

"I'M SORRY"

please forgive him. he knows you won't because the game doesn't require it, but he decides to always call stormterror dvalin to make up for it.

"ah, right! i haven't introduced myself... i'm (name) the bard!"

please this boy is so smitten for a video game character.

when you're revealed to be the archon, he's not too surprised? i mean, he already recognized you from the statue.

he is so excited to steal the lyre for you.

it takes him a bit, though, just because he has a bad attention span and ends up revealing his location.

he's even more excited to learn you're a regular at diluc's tavern.

he would do anything to drink with you.

he'll reluctantly end the game there just because it's time for his bedtime songs/stories.

"i'll be back tomorrow, (name), my love! i promise!"

zhongli's playthrough -

zhongli's a really good streamer even when he doesn't try to be.

he is basically the king of just chatting streams.

daily tea times and storytime streams are a go!

his voice is what lures them in and his charm is what traps them there.

he's still poor, though...

he relies on the donations from his viewers but he always expresses his gratitude.

man's respectful, what can i say?

anyway, he does play games every now and then. he doesn't tend to enjoy fighting games though.

although, he's rather good at them... for some reason.

his gaming streams tend to be a lot longer because he picks games with an overarching story.

i'm talking long games like night in the woods, detroit: become human, really any long game with deep meanings and stories.

his viewers will pay for him to just sit there and read to them.

anyway, someone donates to him and recommends he play genshin impact because of the long story and hidden lore.

he definitely enjoyed the beginning of the story, but got even more attached once he reached liyue.

he seems very intrigued when he begins the quest by watching liyue's archon fall dead on the ground.

he would definitely go on a long rant about gods and goddesses that have fallen.

when he meets childe, he does take a liking to him.

now, this man is known for being stoic and serious, so it comes as a surprise when he almost loses his composure when you appear.

keyword being almost.

he manages to stay composed but his chat knows for a fact he's freaking out over you.

your fancy suit/dress reminds him of the anthropological tales of gods/goddesses and kings/queens.

let this man drink tea with you please--

his chat is going wild at this point.

they get to listen to two heavenly voices talk to each other at the same time?! it's a dream come true!

another man that will let your long lines of dialogue play, listening intently to the stories you tell his character.

he actually really likes the image of his character talking to you.

he's so short compared to you--

he also really likes your animation when you're standing still.

not your idle animations, even though those are really nice as well. i'm talking about the movement of your clothes when your character is standing there. it's just so... soothing to him.

the gradient of your hair color to your elemental gnosis is also a nice detail to him. he likes how there are subtle ways archons look compared to normal citizens in teyvat.

when he finds out you are also a person who struggles with money... oh boy, this man cannot relate more.

you both can be broke together.

he will look to his chat for help every time a bargaining option occurs.

similar to venti, he'd be able to tell you were an archon automatically, mainly because of the way you carry yourself and your design.

when you give away your gnosis, he was really interested in the fact that you were so dedicated to your title of the archon of contracts that you would just willingly give your gnosis away.

when he meets the adepti, his chat jokingly says that the yaksha is yours and his adopted child.

"... i would not be opposed to that idea."

all of the artists and writers in his chat are dying at this point.

he'd look up all of the lore, especially ones involving you, and use them for his storytime streams.

How far have you made it through the game so far? I’m asking because I think Peach will have a field day when studying a certain hisuian grass type that is known for being ridiculously hard to take care of in the future. Anyway, how do you think peach will react when she gets to study the all the new hisuian forms?

peach has mixed feelings about lilligant, while she loves them, their difficult care needs means she's ALWAYS being handed them in the worst state. people want a pretty pokemon, but don't know how, or even want to provide the correct care, so they quickly fall into disrepair. She loves them sure, but it hurts her heart to see them in the terrible conditions they usually come to her in. I think she may enjoy the Hisuian variant more, they seem more robust in needs and nature, but all plants thrive in their natural habitat, so again, if you remove it from where it belongs, I bet it'll start to fall apart again. I personally haven't even fought Kleavor yet, been filling out the dex, doing all the mindless tasks, training up a few pokemon, hunting some odd species. I play pokemon games real slowly haha! along side making the comic for it, I haven't had a great deal of time. A lot of the game has been me scouring for issues and areas I want to improve on, and then i'll go away and write stories for like a day or two, that fit with the games lore ect. cant say i've been KO'd once yet, so that feels like an achievement for me, i'm usually barreling into trouble in open world games, so i've improved haha! Gotta say, still not as keen on the Hisuian starters, don't like that theres not even a sign of adaptions in their 2nd evos. Feels lazy. Other than that, its been fun, my dog walks with grey are just going through a million ideas for side missions and stories that could occur during the comic haha! bit obsessed over it tbh, its been nice to calmly amble through the gameplay and enjoy it bit by bit.
