Insanity & Infected ramble ig?? (more so hcs and stuff)

RAMBLE AFTER CUT!

Insanity and Infected lack empathy and are clinically insane, so you’d obviously think it’d be hard for them to even care for each other.

Yeah, you’re right lol.

It took them a while (mainly because Insanity kept jumping Infected at any given chance instead of actually talking to him) to care for each other in their own way. It’s subtle sometimes, then other times everyone is unsure if they do even care about the other’s well being.

Insanity is more prone to stay by Infected’s side instead of wondering off mid conversation. Hell, he sometimes stops himself from doing something if Infected finds it boring (if Infected finds it boring, so does Insanity?). He notices when Infected stops moving at the mention of a certain name. He doesn’t ask, since Insanity has a vague idea already. Sometimes, he’d call out his name, to see if Infected reacts. Insanity finds himself to be at his calmest when he’s with Infected. He doesn’t know why. I mean, he still does his usual, just he’s more comfortable to do so around Infected. Maybe, it’s the fact Infected doesn’t nag him, scold him, or even hold him back like countless AUs have tried. Instead, he just watches him with a small smile, joining him if he feels like it. Or maybe, it’s the times where they eat ice cream, after lighting an ice cream van on fire, that put Insanity at (somewhat) ease.

Infected found Insanity’s clinginess towards him annoying at first. But, he soon grew attached. Infected is more of a listener, more specifically, he likes to hear Insanity ramble. Sometimes, he finds himself repeating whatever Insanity has said to him, when he’s alone. At times, it might seem like Infected is bullying Insanity (not actual bullying - Infected just speaks/interacts harshly with Insanity), but this is just his way of showing some care to Insanity (poor guy doesn’t know how to show actual care because Alphatale lore - I’m lazy sorry). He often plans when they should hang out, not really where, since the both of them don’t really care. Infected doesn’t really remember when he started expecting Insanity’s visits. When he started to count down the days, the hours, the minutes, the seconds. Or when he began to talk to Insanity more, instead of just listening.

Then there are the times where they act “normal”.

Visiting peaceful AUs (when Insanity isn’t covered in blood, or holding a head), eating ice cream, sharing experiences or stories, making puns, etc.

Normally, neither would enjoy these things but, with each other it’s a whole different story.

Infected sometimes hears a thought at the back of his head when he’s having fun with Insanity.

“Is this what could’ve been, with them?”

Sometimes, he’d end up finding himself in the middle of a really loose hug, or his hand laying on Insanity’s head after the thought (head pats lol). He doesn’t know why.

Insanity does. He wouldn’t tell him though. He finds a weird comfort in this (bro is touch starved but doesn’t know that - same with Infected).

Essentially, they’ve built up a familial connection with each other. Seeing each other as family.

(More so Infected, as he views Insanity as a younger sibling, because his actual family barely interact with him outside of fighting the guy)

Thinking about how fucking ridiculously kind Dante is.

Trish lured him to Mallet Island through manipulation which lead to him “killing” (we know Vergil survived but he didn’t) his brother but he still forgave her and offered her his kindness, empathy, and even trust and friendship. His kindness impacted Trish so much she was able to become her own person outside of Mundus’ influence. Speaking of helping people change for the better, in DMC X he fights Credo and even though this guy is out for his blood he only wants to help him change his ways and manages to convince him to do the right thing. Which I think is what lead to him protecting Nero in his last moments. The canonicity of DMC X isn’t stated but considering the fact that we know Dante was originally supposed to have a longer campaign I can’t help but think a lot of the stuff in that game is remnants of those scrapped ideas.

He very openly felt bad for Griffon when Mundus killed him despite the fact that he’s loyal to the guy who killed his family and even gave him a respectful sendoff in DMC5. Generally he’s known for roasting his opponents but he still has a level of respect for them which I think is cool. In the first novel he even laments about the people who had to die on his missions, as he despises unnecessary bloodshed even if it involves bad people and popularized showing mercy among the other mercs in the business.

In the anime he often takes on jobs for free out of the kindness of his heart and is happy just being able to help people who need it even if he’s broke. Most of the money he DOES get goes to victims of demon attacks like Grue’s daughters and Enzo who lost his arm because he feels immense guilt for not being able to do what he feels like is enough for them.

He’s shown to be very protective of the younger generation through Patty and does everything he can to shield her from seeing him fight demons because he doesn’t want her to be traumatized like he was at a young age. He does the same thing with Nero, really, trying to keep him from fighting Vergil because he believes the result will either be his nephew getting hurt or him killing his own dad and having to live with that trauma like he did after he thought he killed Vergil. The way he looks at Nero and Kyrie fondly at the end of DMC4 before leaving Fortuna, he was willing to do whatever it took in order for Nero to keep that happy life with her. (Side note, Dante grew attached to Patty like, immediately. 15 minutes in he’s like “WHERES MY DAUGHTER?!” He’s so silly like that.)

It’s nice to see Nero is following in Dante’s footsteps too. In an interview it was stated Nero only really stepped into action in DMC4 because he wanted to protect Kyrie but in DMC5 we see a much more mature Nero who cares about civilians too, my favorite example being how he offered a total stranger food because he assumed he was just hungry. Dante in DMC3 was in a somewhat similar situation, though he was obviously a lot more selfish starting off than Nero ever was until he matured by the end of the game and took on the role of humanity’s protector like Sparda. It was his journey of “waking up to justice” like his dad.

A = Aftercare (what they’re like after sex)

The eternal gentleman, Vergil is doting and attentive - making sure you’re satisfied, cleaned, and content after intimacy. He’ll always clean you before himself, offering water, back rubs, and maybe even a nice bath to get you feeling right again. If it’s in bed, cuddles are mandatory - Vergil sees sex as a bonding activity, and holding you in his arms or lying on your chest is necessary to connect with one another.

Vergil has spent years training to get the perfect physique for fighting. He takes great pride in how he looks, and is not shy about it - but a favorite thing about him? I don’t think Vergil has given it much thought.

It’s a different story with his partner. I will gladly die on the hill that Vergil is an ass man. Vergil loves to grab it, smack it, bite it - just overall handsy. Speaking of, he’s got a thing for hands. He will worship his partner’s hands, seeing them as divine devices capable of such grace and care.

But if he found someone he trusted enough, I think he would be willing to relinquish that control for a little bit and be at the whims of someone else. Call him a good boy? Vergil has experience, but it’s limited. The man is not a dog like others are quick to assume due to Nero’s conception, but he did experiment a little in his 20s.

Vergil is a perfectionist at heart and sex isn’t an exception. It’s very few and between that you’ll have him acting silly during such an intimate act. I think the only time he’d truly be more loose and laughing is if he was inebriated in some way.

H = Hair (how well groomed are they? does the carpet match the drapes? etc.)

Well groomed, may let it grow in if he’s been with someone for a long time due to comfortability. I don’t think he cares how his partner grooms themselves, as long as they are cleanly - to each their own.

I = Intimacy (how are they during the moment? the romantic aspect)

Sex is about devotion to Vergil. He takes it seriously and ensures his partner feels absolutely valued and worshiped. If time permits, Vergil is taking the time to set the scene. You’ll come home to freshly washed bedsheets, lit candles, and dinner already made and prepared for serving. It’s all-encompassing for him, more about the bond between you two than the result.

I think Vergil purposely tries to last as long as physically possible to push himself, but sometimes he gets a little too lost in how soft your skin feels or how tightly your squeezing around him to hold back any longer.

T = Toys (do they own toys? do they use them? on a partner or themselves?)

Vergil wouldn’t be too knowledgeable about toys, but if he had a partner that was, he would be open to exploration. (Honey, go get the strap)
