*sigh*
I'm going to be talking about a game today.
For now, we won't be talking about the things happening with the creator. Only the game. I've been wanting to talk about this game for a while, but haven't had the guts to due to the creator and the horrible things she and her husband have done.
Today I'm going to be talking about the game Your Boyfriend. Yup. T h a t o n e
Like I said, for this post we will only talk about the game. Nothing on the creators because I don't believe it is my place. If you want to know about it, I suggest this video
Tumblr media
the video link is unavailable, so you'll need to find it manually.
Again, we will ONLY be talking about the game.
So, trigger warnings: obsessive love disorder, ranting, you boyfriend game, murder, etc.
So without further adue, let us proceed.
So if you don't know what YBG is, YBG is a visual novel horror game about a man who is obsessed romantically and sexually with you the player.
The man will be referred to as Peter seeing how that's his name- anyway.
First, let me say I've only seen up to day 2- or whatever day He kidnaps you. Yeah he does that. So my summary might not be accurate
So the game begins with you being at the park, your favorite spot. Here you meet Peter who claims to be your boyfriend. You can either go with it, or not. Your choice.
I haven't seen a playthrough in a while, so this is rusty. You later go to a flower store and meet him again, reaching for the same rose you are. He's like 'oh sorry' and you can react negatively or positively. Reacting negatively will make him hold the rose super right he bleeds.
Anyway the day ends with him at your window. Spooky/sarc.
Already right off the this sucks. But we ain't done we have day two.
In day two you go to your job, and you meet TK, your fellow employee, and someone who has romantic feeling for you.
During your job you see Peter again. Again being able to react negatively or positively, each ending in a different reaction. If you act positively, he'll walk you home, in which Dom..? I think, your landlord says your roommate hasn't been paying their share and might need to be kicked out. Peter offers to live with you with sexual intentions. If you agree your roommate will appear and be pissy.
Now if you react negatively, go finish your shift and go home, your roommate, Lucy is her name, noticing you look distraught. You two get high or drink, I don't remember, and I think y'all end up fucking.
Now here is where the next part comes into play, where you have a horrible headache or smt and leave your room to find pills. You see a figure in front of you, and you think it's Lucy and they are offering pills. Before you can react, they are shoved into your mouth and your mouth is covered and you hear Peter say something so forgettable that I don't care.
Nice. This game STINKS.
Not only does it romanticize a person with obsessive love disorder, it's just not scary!!! Yes the concept is truly horrifying, seeing how it's something that has, and does happen!! But this game treats it like us haha silly. And it's like. FUCK NO.
This game HAD potential.
Let's also talk about the style of the game- the visual novel style.
This style is only good for horror Under VERY specific circumstances. It needs to be done right, and holy hell does this game not do it right. It's terrible. The game just tells you the thing to fear outright or shows you completely. There isn't any FEAR here. It's not SCARY. Orginally when I first learned of the game, I was pretty young, but I still had my obsession with psychology, so I thought this game was going to be a psychological horror, and show the fear behind this concept.
BUT NO.
IT JUST THROWS JT AWAY GOD DAMNIT!!! INTO THE BIN!!!
And I HATE how this game claims to be mature for more than the sex themes!! Fuck, bendy and the ink machine, a mascot horror game for 13 plus is scarier than this shit.
Anyway I hate this game <3

So I digitally painted this because I miss them a lot.
I dont have much connection to my priginal source in the way I act (I'm a lot calmer and less violent than him and I also do like my name). But they are one thing that I adore from it. Miss them a bunch. :(

What's going on with Your Boyfriend? I looked it up and I saw a gray dude that looks they tried too hard to make a tumblr sexyman
It's less about the game itself and more about it's creator and fanbase. Which, is a whole big can of worms...
To give you the short version, Fu//boo and her husband groomed and raped a minor. Yeah...
I recommend you look at the document regarding her (the among awful shit regarding the crew and the fandom) and watch Queen Serafina's videos on this.
But yeah, Fu//boo is bad not in a "weh she made a game with problematic themes!" way, she's bad in a "she's an actual scummy person" way.

The George W. Bush Administration was notorious for bringing corporate values to Washington, and we are still paying for the damage it wrought. In the LCS we see the consequences of running the military on the cheap with bare-bones personnel, allowing arms manufacturers to keep information about their products secret from the government, and outsourcing vital functions to overpaid private contractors.
Worst of all, many new Navy systems of the period suffered from being undermanned. The Zumwalt destroyers likewise suffered from the pressure to keep personnel costs down. Neither ship has the spare crew to perform serious damage control. The small number of humans aboard meant that there could be no specialists, and only generalists. No one had deep knowledge of how a particular ship systems worked, because everyone had to wear so many hats. Rather than being able to trust the ship to perform its own diagnostics, crews were dependent on flying civilian engineers from the builders out to wherever the ship was docked in order to perform basic repairs. There were no mechanical shops where spare parts could be fabricated, leaving crews stranded until some widget could be flown or driven to their location. This is no way to run a Navy! Additionally, no one thought to test the different systems and modules on a prototype before ordering both classes of LCS in quantity. Buying bulk seemed to offer cost savings, but only provided there were no unanticipated problems. Spoiler alert: there are always unanticipated problems. For an administration whose defense secretary used "unknown unknowns" to excuse military failures, there was no hedging for precisely that eventuality when it came to procurement. For instance, there's a reason that anti-submarine and anti-mine vessels have their engines rafted, to reduce internal noise and vibration so sensors can better pick out possible targets. This was not done on the LCS, as that is specialized and expensive equipment, but it also made them useless in some of their primary missions. All that was left was drug interdiction, port security, and anti-piracy, for which the LCS is either too large or lacks accommodations for special forces teams.
Other problems were trying to expect too much of a civilian ferry hull. Ultimately, these vessels were built to be expendable, but no one was prepared to admit that to sailors, journalists, and politicians. The LCS also made modularity a dirty word, since all the different mission modules had to be stored somewhere, and swapping out major parts presents an infinite list of potential points of failure. The Danish Flyvefisken Class patrol vessels worked because 1) the Danish Navy is concentrated in a small geographic area and is not stationed globally; and 2) the StanFlex modules are weapons-oriented; the ship sensors largely remain set, and optimized for the ship and a smaller array of missions. The is exactly the opposite of the Swiss Army Knife the US Navy thought it could build.
In short, every extreme measure to contain or understate cost wound up increasing the final price tag for a vessel type that is best integrated into the Navy as artificial reefs. And, as in the best corporate fashion, once accountability calls, it's IBG-YBG.
In short, this is why the government cannot be run like a business, and especially cannot be run like a chintzy, smarmy, poorly managed business.

Random: "Hey uh..you shouldn't romanticize [Insert character] cause they are a murderer and implied r*pey creep. Also, they're like..way older than you and your self-insert."
Me: "Have you considered that doesn't matter at all to me? Have you also considered that I'm a weird little freak who loves weird big freaks??"
(Inspired by a thread on Twitter where someone fought with me because I said a certain character could definitely hit it. *ahem* Peter from ybg.)
Antis fight too hard for nothing ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
It's not even real, why don't they put that energy in something that matters.

Tablet Doodles of the Week - YBG OC Jennifer [I am so sorry...]
Warning to Minors, do not interact as this is a +18 topic... AND I AM SERIOUS.
*sighs* I’m going to be honest with you. Some recent things have happened that I have to tell.
When it comes to entering a fandom, I have set a few rules for myself based on my own experience. This includes having a favorite character or a character that caught my attention:
1 - This character shouldn’t be problematic, even if they are a murderer.
2 - The creator should be trusted as this would reflect on the character you like.
3 - I should like the character because my preference is questionable, I can like a popular or an unpopular character.
4, which is a bonus point/saving grace - Less drama and no one innocent should be hurt, as ALL FANDOMS HAVE DRAMA, but it’s the worst fandom when someone gets hurt (Undertale, FNAF, VOLTRON: LD, etc.)
One rule broken would make me lose interest slowly, but if all rules get broken, the ideas I made for the fandom are forgotten and make me move to the next one or go back to the previous fandom.
So, two fandoms made me slowly lose interest - Balan Wonderworld and Your Boyfriend Game. I still make A Hat In Time content because I don’t the motivation to draw anything based on these fandoms mentioned.
Why?
⬇️
((Warning - TW// Mentions of harassment, lesbophobia, grooming))
Balan Wonderworld - I had my first Anti-BaLance comment after months of not making any BWW-related content [due to college and the on-going dramas where someone gets harassed or there is a discourse about something that happens in the novel and in the game] and the reply was in the reblog of my Happy Balan Day fanart [which was wholesome and I have also made a DNI for any Anti-BaLance Shippers in that art when I’ve heard many horror stories of harassment and bullying from fellow BaLance shippers].
It was also the first time I had to block some blogs that aren’t Tumblr bots.
Your Boyfriend Game - WHERE TO EVEN BEGIN??? My dislike for the Yandere trope but I still stayed for the story. The rumors about the creator grooming minors, I’ve tried to find out if it’s true and wanted to justify them as rumors as the creator herself says that the game is strictly not for minors, I STILL DON’T KNOW WHAT THE HECK’S GOING ON. The drama of how the game was supporting unhealthy relationships [I don’t have a problem with people liking this game, just those who are bullying others for liking it] and the creator being related to R*born*ca [WHAT??????? HOW IS THIS RELATED TO THE GAME IN QUESTION????] So...Final nail in the coffin? Peter [IDK anymore that YB hates his real name, I’m getting tired and pissed] being LESBOPHOBIC IN A TUMBLR ASK BLOG.
An odd final reason but I’m done with this fandom, I’ll be liking the stories and fanarts on my dashboard but honestly, Urgh!
I hate being confrontational and bring this into light because I am a coward who is afraid of conflicts in real life, but if I am drawing BWW or YGB once a week, that means I have better things to do than to have anxiety and panic over my safety and my content that I pour my heart and soul on 👏 EVERY 👏 DAMN 👏 DAY!!👏
I don’t need drama when I live in a Disney channel show or a Tamil soap opera!
Pardon my outburst, I want to bring this here and it has been a rough day with feeling sick and all.
Despite my characters not being real, I legit feel sorry for them for having to deal with this, especially Jennifer who I plan to ship with Peter but now she deserves better...
As for Balan and Lance, they’ll be fine, Giftbox is sure about that.
That’s all the doodles I’ve done for this week.

it was late when i got this and i was too tired to answer so i might as well do it now.
i'm not a proshipper but im also not an anti. i have trauma from a group of proshippers grooming me when i was younger so i don't want ppl like that following me. i also don't like antis cause purity culture sucks and from stuff i've seen they've done as a group.
i understand that fiction can effect reality and im fully aware of it when i consume media like yandere characters etc. ((as i've also mentioned before, i do not support the original ybg due to the creators actions and other stuff. i dont actually even draw fanart of it, just my versions of the characters and universe which at this point are their own thing))
someone might have other boundaries of course, im not dictating anyone's morals here, im just saying my own.
I also can't dictate if someone's a bad person from the fictional ships they like. nothing is black and white after all.
Is pedo and incest ships on your dni because they just make you uncomfy or do you think shipping those makes people bad? Asking mostly because even though I don't ship any of those, I don't want to risk interacting with someone who thinks someone's taste in fiction says anything about their morals or their worth as a person. It'd also be super hypocritical coming from someone who is into yandere stuff because either your taste in fiction determines whether you're good or bad or it doesn't. But if it's just because those subjects make you uncomfy that would be understandable.
doesn't really matter since i dont use this blog much anymore

I saw your boyfriend post and thank god I finally meet a fellow hater of it. I can’t stand that golfball head and Lucy who I also hate. I think it’s disgusting she thinks weed or alcohol can help you solve your problems but as someone who was a former addict, it’s not healthy or a way to help you.
Let's fucking go YBG haters.
Also yeah it's really disgusting. I am pretty sure they are trying to make it as a way to show there are really people who act like this, but ultimately it's backfiring due to most ppl in the ybg fanbase being impressionable teens and tweens.
And I am sorry that you've had to go through that. But I'm glad it's not something you strugglw with anymore :D

I think you are forgetting something VERY important and it's the thing most people who dont look deeply enough and miss about Your Boyfriend Game.
Peter is aware hes in a game, he knows the world around him isn't real, he doesn't care about other characters because he knows they're not real. He's obsessed with the player because 1) they are a real person 2) he was made to be players boyfriend
Because of that he believes that if you launch a game in which he is made to be your boyfriend, you inherently love him so he gets realistically frustrated if the player acts like they don't like him
Again, it's not so much about about stalker as it is about an ai being driven mad by their circumstances. Its Monica from ddlc type narrative.
Anyway, the gama has fans for a reason and i hope someone steals it from Fuboo the groomer cunt
Ahhh ok. Thank you for that! Again, I stopped associating with stuff for the game a few years back.
Still not the most original idea in the world, and ultimately doesn't fully work with the style of game (especially the actual horror parts) but it does make sense.
And yes someone better take that shit away from fuboo and throw Fuboo into fucking jail
Even knowing this though, I personally just don't like the game bc when I first knew about it it felt like I was tricked which sucked because I had to wait a whole year for someone to play day 2 only to realize it wasn't what I thought :')
But if you enjoy the game good for you as long as you don't support the creator 👍

I kinda hate that whenever I look up Sunny Day jack or John Doe art there is some crossover art with then and that guy from Your//Boyfriend Game (I know his name but I'm refusing to say it).
I made it clear I'm not really a fan of that game due to scummy creators and my own dislike for the main character. Plus, I the fandom I've seen on twitter also has some scummy on its own right.
Of course people can like what they want and not all of the people are like this, it's just more of a personal discomfort.
