She actually had to go through said training to keep up the disguise.

She does undercover work and honestly it's quite scary to realize Anna could've been on the same mission as some of her friends or coworkers as silent backup and they might not always spot her.

Married Carl (her boyfriend from book 1) and has two amazing daughters now

can and will surprise visit her friends just to keep them on their toes (she and Macey do coffee dates where they try out new cafes and chat)

worked in the field for a few years in the FBI but after Kim Lee got seriously injured she left quickly

currently works a simple 9-5 office job and helps out in her community because even without being a super spy she can still help change the world

did go to a community college to get an associate's degree in engineering and later continued to pursue a higher education in that field

even after her injury, Kim stayed in the field but soon moved into lab work making gadgetry and usually explosive prototypes. She did accidentally microwave one prototype and Eva put her on bed rest until she could correctly count the number of fingers Eva was holding up

Mick Morrison

went to college with Tina Walters as they had planned a long time ago

Got a degree in kinesiology and tried working in the field for a few years but she could never feel like it was really her place

When an opening for a new P&E assistant coach opened up Mick gave it a shot and found she really loved teaching

Sits beside Liz at the teachers table in the Grand Hall and they share gossip about their students

worked for the CIA for quite some time. Stayed in the field as she found it was the place and path for her. Her civilian disguise was at first just a fresh out of high school young adult traveling the world to find herself. Now she's in a 'complicated business' that requires her to go overseas a lot but she fights tooth and nail to make it home for the holidays, big events, etc

she's usually late or the last to arrive and no one lets her live it down

did a lot of leg work with Bex since she also went straight into the field and while they were technically working for different agencies they're still a goofy little duo that know each other well enough to figure out where on earth they might be off to

attended some of Cammie's classes with her sometimes, mostly when he had downtime and wanted to just be with her or even take notes for her when she wasn't feeling too good

On January 20, 2025, President Donald Trump ordered a 90-day pause in foreign development assistance. The executive order that Trump signed stated: "The United States foreign aid industry and bureaucracy are not aligned with American interests and in many cases antithetical to American values.  They serve to destabilize world peace by promoting ideas in foreign countries that are directly inverse to harmonious and stable relations internal to and among countries."[1]

A State Department cable further stated that senior officials "shall ensure that, to the maximum extent permitted by law, no new obligations shall be made for foreign assistance" until Secretary of State Marco Rubio has made a decision after a review.[2]

On December 20, 2023, MEMRI published an article by MEMRI Senior Research Fellow Anna Mahjar-Barducci, titled "A Future Economic Strategy For Peace," assessing that foreign aid – whether given by Western countries or by terror-sponsor States such as Qatar – has not brought prosperity to the Palestinian people, since it helped only the Palestinian Authority (PA) and Hamas to prolong their rule. "Cutting [foreign aid] would be a courageous choice to give a chance to prosperity and peace," Mahjar-Barducci stated.

If the West does not want to turn the West Bank into another Gaza, it should review its foreign aid policies. As the great economic journalist Henry Hazlitt (1894-1993) once wrote: "Government-to-government foreign aid promotes statism, centralized planning, socialism, dependence, pauperization, inefficiency, and waste." Foreign aid brought no growth to the Palestinian people. The beautiful residential areas in Ramallah were built not by foreign aid money but by American-Palestinians, who decided to personally invest in the area.

In fact, foreign aid not only discourages the creation of an entrepreneurial culture, but it also discourages steps toward peace in war-torn areas. As Nobel laureate in economics Angus Deaton noted: "Large inflows of foreign aid change local politics for the worse and undercut the institutions needed to foster long-run growth. Aid also undermines democracy and civic participation, a direct loss over and above the losses that come from undermining economic development." Along the years, the Palestinian Authority (PA) has been associated with corruption and started to lose credibility among the population. The leaders of the PA, who live in luxurious villas in Ramallah, proved right the words of British economist Peter Bauer: "Aid is a process by which the poor in the rich countries subsidize the rich in the poor countries."

In fact, as Zambian-born economist Dambisa Moyo stated, aid "props up corrupt governments – providing them with freely usable cash." Having foreign aid strengthen the role of the PA, no new Palestinian political leader was allowed and able to rise in the West Bank. The only alternative to the PA has been Hamas, who won big in the recent student elections at flagship Birzeit University in the West Bank. However, Hamas itself – which is designated as a terrorist entity in the U.S. and in the EU –  has been able to establish itself politically and militarily in Gaza due to foreign aid (it has been calculated that from 2014 to 2020, just the U.N. agencies spent nearly $4.5 billion in Gaza, to this it should be added billions of dollars from Qatar, millions from USAID and the EU for a Gazan population of only two million people).

Whoever claims that international aid in Gaza helps the people and not Hamas is either naïve or lying. In 2015, trying to justify the aid, Qatari official Mohammed Al-Emadi stated clearly: "If you want to help Gaza. Hamas is your best contact. You have to support them. You do not like them, do not like them. But they control the country, you know." Control of Gaza was given to Hamas by foreign aid that allowed them to hold the grip on every sector of society (i.e., hospitals, education, media, judiciary, security, etc.) The same goes for the Palestinian Authority (PA) in the West Bank. The fight between the PA and Hamas about who is the sole legitimate representative of the Palestinian people is not about moral values, but about who should cash the aid, as whoever controls the money has the power.

Hence, foreign aid killed any chance to turn Gaza and the West Bank into vibrant pluralistic societies. This free usable cash encouraged the worst tendencies and emboldened the PA and Hamas to get rid of any alternative to their autocratic rule. Whoever allows themselves to think differently gets labeled a spy and is jailed or killed. Furthermore, aid also freed the PA and Hamas from any responsibility, since no matter what they do, no matter how they behave, they will continue getting free cash.

Only direct investment can help establishing a different Palestinian society. Private investment in private enterprises promotes production, self-reliance, and responsibility. "It is by attracting foreign private investment that the great industrial nations of the world were once helped. It is so that America itself was helped by British capital, in the nineteenth century, in building its railroads and exploiting its great national resources," Henry Hazlitt stated. Promoting direct investments instead of foreign aid would limit the government's control over all aspects of life. Therefore, the monopoly of the PA and Hamas would decrease (paraphrasing a known commercial, no money no party) and new real alternatives would spread. In fact, direct investments are not gifts, which imply that interests should be produced, leading to an economic system based on private property and individual rights.

Hazlitt further argued: "Would-be humanitarians... [tell us that] no progress is possible without help from outside. This theory is today propounded unceasingly, as if it were axiomatic. Yet the history of nations and individuals shows it to be false." Indeed, foreign aid (i.e., free cash) helps only the PA and Hamas to prolong their rule and cutting it would be a courageous choice to give a chance to prosperity and peace.

Reinhard Heydrich

Reinhard Heydrich (1904-1942) was a lieutenant-general in the Nazi SS organisation, Gestapo chief, and head of Reich security. A favourite of Adolf Hitler (1889-1945), Heydrich controlled all police activity in the Third Reich and was instrumental in carrying out the widespread persecution, detention, and murder of Jewish people, communists, political rivals, and others considered enemies of the Nazi state.

Heydrich was the leading Nazi in German-occupied Czechoslovakia where his brutal regime earned him the nickname the 'Butcher of Prague'. Heydrich was assassinated by the Czech resistance in May 1942. Had he lived, it is certain that Heydrich would have been hanged at the Nuremberg trials of 1945 for his systematic crimes against humanity, particularly his direct role in the Holocaust and murder of six million Jewish people.

Early Career

Reinhard Heydrich was born in Halle in Eastern Germany on 7 May 1904. His father, Bruno Heydrich, was a distinguished musician, composer, and music teacher from Dresden. Heydrich's mother was Elizabeth Maria Anna Amalie Krantz, whose own mother was Jewish. Elizabeth was a humble actress, but it was her Jewish connections that plagued Heydrich's confidence throughout his career as a virulent anti-Semitic Nazi.

Heydrich joined the German Navy in 1922. He impressed his superiors and rose up the ranks, working primarily in communications and intelligence. In his free time, he "was a first-class fencer, excellent horseman, skilled pilot, and a talented violinist" (Boatner, 214). In April 1931, Heydrich was obliged to leave the navy following a scandalous relationship with the daughter of a shipyard director. The girl became pregnant, but Heydrich refused to marry her. Heydrich already had a long-term attachment going on with Lina von Osten (1911-1985), whom he married at the end of 1931.

It was also in 1931 that Heydrich joined the fascist National Socialist German Workers' Party (NSDAP) or Nazi Party for short. Lina was a member of the Nazi Party before Heydrich and as anti-Semitic as her husband. Heydrich also joined the Nazi paramilitary group the SS (Schutzstaffel) where he received a series of rapid promotions. Heydrich reached the rank of Obergruppenführer or lieutenant-general in July 1934. Heydrich was a perfect fit for the Nazis:

The very picture of blond Aryan handsomeness…His blue-eyed good looks, athletic prowess, arrogant mien, and musical talent hid a neurotic personality which was deeply divided, uncertain, and treacherous.

According to Albert Speer (1905-1981), the Nazi armaments minister, Heydrich was "always neatly dressed, and well bred…capable of unexpected decisions at any moment, and once he had arrived at them he would carry them through with a rare obstinacy" (Speer, 503-4)

Heydrich, who had gained experience working in the department of military intelligence when in the navy, was directed to create an equivalent branch within the SS. The SD or Sicherheitsdienst was founded in 1934. Heydrich was the rising star of Nazism, and in the same year, he was appointed the leader of the Prussian Gestapo, the Nazi secret police. Heydrich's career progressed thanks to him being an "organizer with a genius for intrigue and a greed for power" (Boatner, 215). Heydrich had proven his worth with his organisational contribution to the Night of the Long Knives in June 1934, when the Nazi paramilitary group the Sturmabteilung (SA) was, on Hitler's orders since it was becoming too powerful, ruthlessly purged and its top commanders executed.

The Rise of Nazi Germany, 1919 - 1939

In 1936, Heydrich became the head of a new Nazi organization within the Ministry of Interior, the security police, known as Sipo or Sicherheitspolizei. This effectively meant that Heydrich controlled both the Gestapo and the criminal police or Kriminalpolizei (aka Kripo) and made him deputy to the feared SS leader Heinrich Himmler (1900-1945). The historian H. Thomas describes Heydrich as Himmler's "assiduously brutal yet servile second in command" (40). The Himmler-Heydrich working team operated well together, but Heydrich despised Himmler in private, once telling his wife he imagined him "in his underpants then everything was all right" (Cimino, 54).

Heydrich used his powers ruthlessly to imprison, torture, and execute anyone he considered a threat to the state or his own position in the Nazi Party. Heydrich was not bothered by such conventions as first gathering evidence against the accused, rather, he preferred preventive measures, that is, arresting people who might become enemies of the state before they could do any harm. He pursued a relentless persecution of anyone considered an enemy of Nazi Germany such as Jewish people, communists, freemasons, homosexuals, habitual criminals, and church figures. Heydrich kept thousands of dossiers and index cards on suspects, all carefully colour-coded to indicate which particular offence against Nazism they were guilty of. Responsibility for the Kristallnacht ('Night of Broken Glass') pogrom against German Jews (loosely defined by the 1935 Nuremberg Laws) of November 1938 is sometimes laid at Heydrich's door, but he had long urged Hitler for a more systematic and legally-based persecution of Jews than mere odd nights of terror.

When Hitler was looking for an excuse to attack Poland, it was Heydrich who organised a false flag mission on the Gleiwitz radio station. In the mission, disguised SS members left machine-gunned bodies to make it appear as if Poles had attacked the German station. Hitler then gave the green light for the invasion of Poland in 1939. In September 1939, Heydrich was duly rewarded with his appointment as head of the Reich Security Main Office or RSHA (Reichssicherheitshauptamt), a new organisation, which meant Heydrich now controlled the Gestapo, Sipo, Kripo, and the SD. The RSHA had three main roles: policing and repressing enemies of Nazism, gathering intelligence, and eliminating those people identified by the Nazis as being racially inferior. In none of these roles was the RSHA limited by any legal restrictions. Heydrich's ultimate objective was to have what he described as "total and permanent police supervision of everyone" (Stone, 164).
