i've been thinking about violet evergarden
︶︶︶ ⊹ ︶︶︶ ⊹ ︶︶︶ ⊹ ︶︶ ༊*·˚ ︶︶ ⊹ ︶︶︶ ⊹︶︶︶ ⊹︶︶︶
Tumblr media
— ❀ I remember watching this show for the first time during lockdown, it was the height of my return in watching anime shows again since school's out and there was nothing to do. My friend recommended it to me while we were looking for something to watch during her sleepover, we don't talk anymore, but I will be eternally grateful for her since she's the person who pushed me to watch my all-time favorite anime, Violet Evergarden. I have this shit tattooed on my body— best believe I LOVE and have a lot of shit to talk about this anime. Too much actually that after 3 (or 4?, idk) years, I still don't know where to start. Let's start on where I got hooked— oh, spoiler warning, go watch the show before you read this 'cause this is not going to be spoiler-free.
꒰ྀིㅤepisode one: "i love you" and auto memory dolls⠀ ಿৎ
From the first episode, I already know that this was a post-war setting, and don't get me wrong— I love war stories, not because of the violence, but because it's so inspiring and you can learn so much from it. I think I got that from my dad, he was the one who educated me about world wars, more than my history teacher.
So, this was a time where a lot of people didn't know how to read and write. That baffles me, I can't even imagine not being able to do something so simple? no, expected of me? I don't know, just something. I mean, now it's so normal that I'm writing about this anime show that I absolutely love, like how am I going to share that with other people? How will the show even exist without the writer?
It really makes you realize how important this skill is, especially for communicating with people who aren't with you. Jesus, I remember thinking a lot "Damn, if I were to meet up with my friend, how am I supposed to tell them where I am?" — additional information, I'm so bad with directions and navigation so let's just say, if I was reincarnated in this era, I would be 90% lost.
Another thought is, oh how fucking embarrassing would it be to let someone else write out your feelings to someone that you like, but also, how endearing it is that someone loves you that much that they set aside their pride— get vulnerable infront of a stranger so that their feelings would get to you.
"I heard that my childhood friend of mine… recently received a marriage offer from another man, so… I want you to tell her this! You were the first person… who was kind to me. I appreciated it. You were everything to me. I would have done anything for you. Anything at all. I want to know how you feel. I want to understand what’s in your heart. Even though… we’re apart now… I love you."
It's so simple... yet incredibly beautiful. An Auto-Memory Doll's profession was to be able to write— no, translate the feelings of a person to another. How are you able to understand them? But more importantly, for Violet, what's the meaning of I love you? When do you say it? How do you know that you love someone? What is love?
That's when she rushed into Claudia's office, demanding that she wants to become a Doll. Not because she wants to be able to help people communicate, no, it's because she wants to know what the word "love" means. She never heard it before, and the first time she ever heard it was during the last moments of her in the battlefield with Gilbert, when he was telling her to go and live freely— not as a weapon but as a person. It was his last words to her before the place exploded, before she never got to see him again.
That was the part that got me hooked. At times, I would think that I know exactly what love is, but sometimes, I would be completely clueless. Those moments where I'm clueless were moments where I am asked "What is love? What does it mean?" How am I going to explain it to someone like Violet? And then the doubts come in— do I even know love? Is love what I feel or is it familiarity?
disclaimer: up until now, I don't know what to feel about the whole... age gap thing with Violet and Gilbert. don't get me wrong, I HAAAAAAAATE IT— it ruined the show for me that's why i'd think of it as another kind of relationship, not romantic. lmk your thoughts 'cause that's my only ick with the show, this gorgeous gorgeous show, ruined by a man (why am i not surprised)
Anyway, that's all for this day. There is MUCH to talk about Violet Evergarden so I don't want to do it half-assed. Message me if you wanna be mutuals! I'm new here so if there's anything I missed or anything that I did wrong, please let me know!

MIYAZAKI'S LAST GO ROUND WAS NOTHING SHORT OF BREATHTAKING! (THE BOY AND....
Hayao Miyazakis most recent film "The Boy and the Heron" from the infamous Studio Ghibli! Now coming off watching this film for the second time I could not wait to talk about it on the channel!! The Boy and the Heron incorporates elements from all of Miyazakis past works and is truly something to behold! A coming of age tale as we watch Mahito mature as a person. If this is Hayao Miyazaki's last go round it was an absolute masterpiece to go out on and I can't wait to talk you you all about it!

Short Anime Review: "The Ice Guy and His Cool Female Colleague"
This anime is actually cute. The fact that the male lead is the one who always acts giddy and bashful while female lead is just there playing it cool. It really is nice seeing a male lead who is emotional all the time which I did not expect, I just thought that he's literally gonna act "icy-cold" due to his ability of making snow but I was wrong, he was the complete opposite of it.

Anime Giants Releases in 2024
Tumblr media
Hold onto your cosplay wigs, anime faithful, because 2024 is a year poised to blow the doors off your watchlists. Forget lukewarm sequels and tired tropes — this season’s titans are fresh, ambitious, and ready to redefine the genre. So, clear your calendars, pre-order your ramen, and prepare to lose yourself in worlds wilder than your wildest daydreams.
Kaiju №8: Imagine Godzilla decided to become a sanitation worker. That’s the absurdly brilliant premise of Kaiju №8, a monster-battling spectacle dropping this spring. Kafka Hibino, our unlikely hero, stumbles upon a kaiju parasite and transforms into a human-monster hybrid. Now, he juggles trash duty with battling skyscraper-sized beasties in a chaotic dance of action and humor. Studio Production I.G., veterans of Ghost in the Shell, are at the helm, promising mind-blowing animation and enough adrenaline to fuel a mecha army.
Solo Leveling: Step into the shoes of Jin-Woo, the “weakest hunter” in his world. Except, there’s a twist. In Solo Leveling, hitting rock bottom unlocks a hidden power, propelling Jin-Woo on a meteoric rise to badass-dom. This long-awaited adaptation of the South Korean webtoon phenomenon brings its addictive RPG-esque progression and exhilarating battles to life. Dive into a world where leveling up isn’t just a statistic, it’s a heart-pounding adventure packed with epic boss fights and unexpected allies.
Delicious in Dungeon: Craving a culinary thrill ride? Dig into Delicious in Dungeon, an anime that proves food is the ultimate weapon. Laios, a timid adventurer, discovers a magical dungeon stocked with ingredients that enhance his cooking skills. Now, he embarks on a delectable quest to conquer culinary challenges and master the art of “Dungeon Meshi” — dungeon-style cooking. Studio JC Staff, the team behind Food Wars!, promises a mouthwatering feast for the eyes and the soul, complete with drool-worthy animation and enough food puns to satisfy the punniest foodie.
Urusei Yatsura: Brace yourself for nostalgia (or a wild first encounter) with the return of a legend. Urusei Yatsura, Rumiko Takahashi’s sci-fi rom-com masterpiece, gets a modern make-over for a whole new generation. Ataru Moroboshi, our unlucky protagonist, accidentally proposes to Lum, a space princess with electric horns and a fiery temper. What follows is a whirlwind of alien hijinks, romantic blunders, and slapstick humor that’ll have you laughing until your sides ache.
These are just a taste of the anime titans clashing in 2024. From monstrous battles to gourmet quests, genre-bending narratives to classic revivals, this year promises a smorgasbord of animated excellence. So, grab your virtual tickets, fellow otaku, because 2024 is shaping up to be a year-long anime epic. Just remember, popcorn not included. That’s what dungeon ramen is for.

Tumblr media
"Prepare to Question Your Perception of Existence as 'Lain Anime' Unleashes its Intriguing Narrative"
Want an anime series that dives into the complexities of the digital age? Serial Experiments Lain is a must-watch! With its deep exploration of technology, consciousness, and existentialism, it's an intellectually stimulating journey that will leave you craving more. This 13-episode series, set in a near-future world, explores the fusion of technology and humanity in a way that will challenge your understanding of the world around you. Serial Experiments Lain tackles themes of identity, isolation, and the impact of the digital age on human interactions. In the realm of anime, where creativity knows no bounds, one series stands out for its unparalleled ability to challenge our perception of reality. 'Lain Anime,' a groundbreaking cyberpunk psychological thriller, has captivated audiences worldwide, sparking intense debates and leaving viewers with more questions than answers. If you're seeking a mind-bending adventure that pushes the boundaries of imagination, this is a series you cannot afford to miss. 'Lain Anime' invites viewers into the labyrinthine mind of its enigmatic protagonist, Lain Iwakura, a seemingly ordinary high school girl who becomes entangled in a complex web of technology, consciousness, and identity. Directed by Ryutaro Nakamura and released in 1998, the series eerily predicted the influence of the internet and its potential consequences on human existence. What sets 'Lain Anime' apart from its contemporaries is its unrelenting exploration of philosophical concepts and the nature of reality. As the story unfolds, viewers are pulled into a world where the line between the digital and physical realms blurs. The series poses thought-provoking questions about the relationship between humans and technology, the impact of virtual spaces on personal identity, and the very essence of what it means to exist. The visual style of 'Lain Anime' further adds to its allure. The distinct combination of dark and moody backgrounds with sporadic bursts of vibrant and surreal imagery engulfs viewers in a visually captivating experience. The series' artistic direction, coupled with its haunting soundtrack, creates an atmosphere that will keep you on the edge of your seat, awaiting the next twist in the narrative. However, 'Lain Anime' is not for the faint of heart. Its complex storyline, layered symbolism, and fragmented narrative demand active engagement from its viewers. Each episode serves as a piece of a larger puzzle, and it is through careful observation and contemplation that the full picture begins to emerge. The series challenges its audience to interpret the hidden meanings and unravel the intricate threads that bind the story together. In addition to its philosophical depth, Lain Anime delves into themes of isolation, social alienation, and the all-consuming power of technology. It forces us to reflect on the implications of our increasing reliance on the digital world and the potential dangers it poses to our sense of self and interpersonal connections. The legacy of 'Lain Anime' cannot be overstated. It continues to inspire and influence contemporary works of art, literature, and even academia. Its exploration of the human psyche and the interplay between technology and consciousness remains as relevant today as it was at the turn of the millennium. So, if you find yourself yearning for an intellectual challenge, a thought-provoking experience that lingers long after the screen fades to black, 'Lain Anime' is the answer. Brace yourself for a journey that will ignite your curiosity, shatter your perceptions, and leave you questioning the very fabric of reality itself. In the enigmatic world of 'Lain Anime,' the only limit is your own imagination.
